An amazing earthcache to come and find. Wow! Western Australia sure has a wealth of minerals. Answers sent to the CO for confirmation. Many thanks to Dark Energy for placing and maintaining this EC.

Bei einem Besuch in Perth kamen wir auch bei diesem interessanten Obelisk vorbei, gibt schon tolle Bodenschätze in diesem Land, schade dass der EC zwischenzeitlich deaktiviert wurde.

Fun cache that my coords had me dancing towards for a few minutes. Then out of nowhere this great obelisk appears!
Down in Perth for a few days whilst ending my 2 months in Australia. It has been a magical time staying in Melbourne and then travelling to other parts. I really enjoyed the past 2 months, as well as the weather - shorts and a hoody most days.
Thanks for bringing me here.

I wouldn’t really call an obelisk, nevertheless the sculpture is very interesting. Moreover we visited some mine sites in WA during the last couple of weeks. Thanks for the interesting earth cache.
Came with The-Shredder. Had a lot fun exploring the earthcache. Thanks for the things we could learn here. TFTC

*Decided to head in Perth CBD today*...
A overcast day with showers, but good to be out and about. Parked nearby and strolled to GZ. I think Sundays may be a good day for grabbing nearby parks. Free too
*Answers forwarded to CO*
Thanks for maintaining this Earth Cache for our enjoyment Dark Energy. Beautiful area too.

Found this cache on a very windy day. But it wasn't raining, so that is good. I never knew that this was here, you notice the kangaroos as you drive past. tftc. Answers sent

Today I arrived in your glorious state for the first time ever. I am over for a work conference so my muggle colleague and I caught the early flight, dumped our bags and set about exploring the Perth CBD. So many caches were to hard to access with people all about but after lunch we ended up here. My first WA cache! What a great EC. So much information which helped set the scene for the amazing state that WA is. Definitely a geologist's heaven! Answers have been sent and I'm addING a fav point and a pic to prove I was here. Many many thanks!
Got the info for this one a few weeks ago - but only getting round to sending my answers through and logging it today.
Thank you
Thank you
Whoa, what a cool cache! And so much neat public art around ere too, I love it.
Sent answers via the GC app, so hopefully they've come through.
Thanks for a very informative cache!

I'd walked past this one over the last few days but it wasn't until I looked at the photos that I noticed that things have changed a tad at GZ since it was published. With growing confidence that I was on the right track, I picked up the final clues while on the way to completing a multi along here.
What a fascinating way to demonstrate WA's abundant mineral resources. .
Thanks Dark Energy.

Hi, I've walked past this for years and only realised what the "kebab" was about when I saw your earth cache. Good one! Hey interesting survey result... Did you know that only 20% of Australians know what Iron Ore is used for? Scary...

Walked up from ferry to get this cache and enjoyed the other sculptures in the surrounds. Congrats to Perth on a wonderful park full of interest. TFTC
Hitting a few caches while in the city today.
Garden has been planted around the Obelisk since the photos were taken, but the new information board allows you to answer all without trampling on the plants to read the pole or the concrete slab. WA has such a focus on the mining industry. Even did our bit working on Barrow Island.

I really like this earthcache as it was interesting to look at and then it was good to learn some new facts. The idea of a skewer with rocks and stuff jammed onto it is something I've never seen anywhere else - a great symbol for WA here in Perth. Plenty of other people were exploring the nearby Kangaroos and getting selfies with them. Thanks Dark Energy....have another favourite point for a great EC concept.

Had a nice relax in the park as I answered the questions. I think the whole concept of the sculpture is fantastic! Happened to hear a very loud but minor car crash whilst I was working away, inspected it afterwards to find out that no one was injured so that's good! Thanks for bringing me here, my first WA cache!
After returning my bicycle i headed for the bus to get a climpse of the city center. Near the obelisk i got off the bus and collected the information asked for. Thanks a lot for the fast answer and this earthcache. Wouldn't have seen the obelisk without it!
This is a very interesting column. I've visited here a couple of years ago and its good to have a reason to come back. It was good to read again about all the places where minerals are mined in WA, including where the oil comes from. One of my travelling companion's boyfriend worked at that location for a couple of years. I really don't envy his commute: a FIFO worker from NSW, doing the trip every 10 days!
Great earth cache and thanks for bringing me back, Dark Energy.

A great earthcache in the middle of Perth. I remember seeing this geological display and playing in this park when I was a child.

Very informative and a very nice location to relax with a sandwich. My answers sent to CO on Australia Day. On basis that I believe my answers to be correct, I am logging this one.
Spent some time this morning trying to find some elusive traditional caches in the CBD. Thankfully this interesting Earthcache provided some respite from the DNF sequence.
The bounty of mineral deposits in WA is well known, indeed it is the reason for my visit hereabouts. However, I was unaware of the diversity of minerals, and this Earthcache has filled in some holes in my knowledge.
Answers dispatched to the CO, hopefully all okay?

A very informative cache and a good start for my imminent tour of the Outback Goldfields. A nice relaxing location for a sandwich lunch and a spot of geocaching. Thanks for bringing me here Dark Energy!
Last day in Perth and just enough time to pop over and grab another earth cache. Impressive obelisk and lovely park to escape some of the heat in. Required info sent to cache owner. Now to go catch a plane. Thanks for the earthcache.
The day after my muggle friend left, I had to get used to making my own plans again. But this also meant, I could go geocaching as much as I want... I started with this one, as I decided to call it an easy day. Funny, but this Obelisk I had not noticed up to now... so thanks a lot, Dark Energy for pointing it out to me!
Found this cache on our last day in Australia.
Thank you very much for this nice earth cache.

Thanks for the education team Dark Energy. We found the required info to this one after a lovely dinner in the city at Long chim. This is the second try at this one for me as the first time I lost the info. This time I took a few photos and could log when I got home. Interesting sculpture.
For no real reason other than 'we wanted to', Net88 and I are visiting Perth and surrounds for a week of adventures. And this is about as far from home as I can get on the Australian continent! Just shy of 3610 kilometres to this GZ! We had flown in very late last night, and today we were out on foot to grab an eventual 24 finds, mostly targeting some choice listings.
This was to be my first Western Australia find. We were actually headed elsewhere, but when this little icon popped up, we decided to take a detour. It wasn't a big detour as it's one of the closest to our hotel. But, I am so glad we came here.
What I noticed first was this lovely park grounds. So green and lush, lovely fountain featuring roos and the striking sculpture. I can totally appreciate the science and art here, and understand why it has an earthcache.
Just sticking around for a little bit, I snapped photos of the plaques to ensure I have the right answers later (the concrete isn't in the same place as the listing indicates, but we believe we got the right one), sent another photo to my snapchat story and we called it done - earns me a new souvenir too. Thanks for this earthcache, Dark Energy - thoroughly enjoyable

Captain Terror and I were spending the week in Perth. I had wanted to visit WA for quite some time, it is the last Australian state/territory for me to visit. We had made a list of geocaches that we wanted to find and this earthcache was high on the list since it was so close to our hotel.
We were actually heading in another direction when we spotted the Obelisk down the road. We decided to make a detour and soon were looking up in awe at GZ. It took us a while to find the concrete plaque as it isn't where the photo indicates so I hope we found the right one. After a few photos of the Obelisk we headed off to continue on our way. Thanks for the cache Dark Energy.

Just arrived from Learmonth, Primile and I had another day here in Perth. We used the "Red Cat" for a short city tour and enjoyed the King´s Park and Elisabeth Quay. We visited this very interesting Earthcache as well. Thanks to Dark Energy for permission to log and placing this beautiful Earthcache here! TFTC with 1 favorite point from us and many greetings from Austria.
Hi we were in perth looking around and doing a bit of caching on our final day before heading north to Dongara.
Found this morning before we flew out to Brisbane. Interesting looking structure in beautiful gardens. Love the kangaroos nearby.
#4054- Our first cache in Perth was this earth cache. We spotted this one as we were taking a wander up and down the main part of town enjoying the buildings and sculptures. What an unusual and interesting structure with some good geology lessons at the same time. I remember way back in primary learning about all the different minerals and where they were mined and thinking then how extensive WA was in that respect. Bikerbuddy, Garks and I worked out the answers and ikerbuddy emailed the CO. Thanks
Discovered this EC on our last morning in Perth with JACS, she emailed answers to the questions. Great spot, loved the kangaroos, very impressive and massive. TFT EC,
I may or may not have sent multiple copies of our answers to Dark Energy. Sorry if we have. We've had a few problems sending things while in Perth.
We stumbled across this earthcache while wandering the city, shortly after arriving from Sydney. It was such an unusual obelisk - so fitting for the region - and featuring a non traditional cache type, that we had to have a go. The answers seemed easy enough to obtain, so I hope everything is okay with them. Perth is a great city. We're enjoying the slower pace and the lack of overcrowded roads and walkways. Thanks

We picked this cache up at 11:58am.
We are travelling around some of WA with our nephew. I am trying hard to make this a non-caching trip, so we aren't doing too many caches. Just a quick trip into town, as it was really really warm!! We collected the info for this cache, I hope the answers are ok.
Thanks for the cache Dark Energy.

Here in Perth for a 'cultural weekend'. This is a fascinating bit of local info so TFTC Dark Energy. Not many muggles around so having a close look wasn't a problem. I'll post answers and a photo when I can get a better signal. Only using an iPhone at present and having some difficulty messaging you.
Very nice place. The bus 170 stoped just before the rock monument. The popular statue of kangaroo family nearby. TFTC
Passed this site whilst doing the "Convicts" walking trail. Great subject for an earth cache. Loved the nearby sculptures.

Investigated on a work trip and family catch up in Perth. Great informative cache, GZ has had a makeover with a flower garden but Part B accessible. I had to do it quickly due to the rain, too quickly so I had to go back for the correct Part B. Emailed CO 1/10/16. TFTC.

Found on my first trip to Perth. Sorry for the late post, only just got around to emailing my answers.
Just home after a few days holiday in perth. It was not a caching expedition but we did manage one or two . We were travelling with our friend who, although not cacher, joined in the fun. Our travels brought us to your cache – many thanks, Dark Energy, for bringing us to this spot. We’ve had great fun all the way. We really enjoyed your earth cache, and as always, we reckon the effort in putting the earth cache together well deserves a favourite point.
"Found It" - actually, I have walked past this probably hundreds of times, but never stopped to read the plaques. TFTC and for encouraging me to actually read the details printed here. I even learned a few things!

Have been meaning to nab this one for a while. Even working for a gold mining company for a few years I was surprised at actually how many different ores are mined here. Thanks for the educational earthcache DE!
We arrived in Perth on the 7th late in the day. Today is the day we nominated to walk from just up the road where we are staying at Mount View Apartments adjacent to the over head walkway to the CBD down to the river and along to the Causeway and back to our room via the CBD. Enjoyed the walk through the park in the middle of the Freeway interchange system and the river walk. This was our next cache to solve. A pity we leave Perth in 4 days to catch the train to Sydney. This trip is all about caching and the train. We had a good walk down to the causeway looking at all the interesting things and now we are on the home stretch. We took a break here just to look around and visit the Kangaroos nearby. Enjoyed gthering the required information from this unique structure.
My answers wee emailed to the CO 23rd August 2016. I had to wait till I was back home before I could do anything about most of our cache finds on this trip. Computer and internet access problems whilst in Perth. TFTEC Dark Energy

Dark Energy, I found your cache ‘Ore Obelisk in Perth’ today. It was the First find of three finds with zero DNF’s and brings my total count to 559. I got all the answers fairly quickly after arriving at GZ. Thanks for the hide.
