Heading back from the caves, we stopped at this one but did not succeed. This one will have to wait until we pass through again.
Located a likely spot, then consulted the hint and the spot seemed even more likely but alas no cache located here today.
Dropped by whilst waiting for the river cruise. Enjoyed the history. Found a mobile phone on the ground nearby.. Looking for its owner.
One Family - 10 days - 2600 kms - Oz Mega 2014
Bound to Oz Mega 2014 in Murray Bridge over the Easter weekend, we left the Saturday before and camped along the way going along the Great Ocean Rd. We stayed at Apollo Bay, Port Fairy and Mount Gambier before getting to Murray Bridge. We managed to pack a fair bit of local tourist attractions in getting a number of caches along the way before getting amongst them in Murray Bridge.
Saturday we left home and headed down to Torquay, checking out some local sights, before tackling the Great Ocean Rd in earnest. Some of the highlights on the way down to Apollo Bay included visiting Bells Beach and Erskine Falls.
Sunday we packed the tent up and grabbed a few local caches then headed to visit the Cape Otway Lighthouse and Otway Fly before heading through to Port Fairy.
Monday bought us some magnificent weather as we made our way to Peterborough, discovering all the natural wonders along the Great Ocean Rd until the 12 Apostles where we headed up to sample some local cheese and chocolate, yummo!! That night we ventured to Tower Hill for some night caching.
Tuesday we made our way to Mount Gambier visiting Portland and Cape Nelson, hastily making our camp before watching the lunar eclipse over Blue Lake.
A lazy day afterwards ensured our batteries were recharged as we packed up early Thursday morning and drove straight to Murray Bridge, setting up camp under the watchful eye of Gonefishen07 where we tackled Fruit Loop and a number of night caches.
Good Friday we headed up to Borrika to grab some of the unfound Wandering Heroes caches and visiting our own to show Campbell. The evening meal was nothing short of spectacular with a roast enjoyed by all as we relaxed around camp (some calling us heathens for eating Lamb).
Saturday saw Trent, Gonefishen07 and Lazzal head to Loxton to finish the rest of the Wandering Heroes, whist Katy, Campbell and Zobo04 went shopping in town, coming home and making Loom bracelets for all and sundry for a price!!! The highlight of the night being the fireworks show provided by Team Crackers!
Sunday saw us head in to Adelaide with a bunch of other cachers to grab a virtual and webcam cache. Heading back to Murray Bridge, we attended the flashmob and CITO, grabbed a few more caches enabling us to complete 12 different caches in a day!!!
Monday we bade farewell to Murray Bridge and the Oz Mega and ventured home saying our farewell's to the new caching teams we met over the four days.
After a quick pit stop Katy jumped out and grabbed the cache.
Thanks for the cache jgc3!!!

Found by Mary & David at 1110. Fascinating details that we didn't know about before. Would have been a real hive of activity back then, and disappointing that nothing came of it. An easy find. Lots of memories too of boarding the ferry and heading upstream to the caves. Our thanks to jgc3.
Another place that I've driven past many times and never knew was here. Thanks guys. Another reason to like this sport. Looks like somebody, left their shopping list behind. Tftcsl, tnln.14/02/2014 6:40 pm Find #597

After a late lunch and a yummy icecream the frogs found this cache. A glorious day. TFTC
Cache found on the Joy of SECS tour with four-fun, Freddo, thewhitedoggang and Team Waldron. There were a stack of boxes to find so we pushed on. We even had a quick round of Mountopoly and a couple of Powertrails to add to the fun. The weather was cool and sometimes icy so wet boots were the order of the day.
Thanks to jgc3 and clear skies from TeamAstro.
A 3 day caching expedition with Freddo, Astro, WhiteDogGang an Four Fun.
Apologies for the generic log but we did a few trails and some of the Mountopoly series. We also did most of the BLE series.
The mozzies were full on at times and it rained most of the first day.

I have stopped here with Steve before the cache was here, but today out solo for some child free Caching, had a little more time to wander around and try and picture what it looked like so many years ago. Can never get enough of the history around here, what others did and went through so many years before us. Quick find on a bit of a grey wet day. TFTC!
Out with Aussie M & M grabbing some more of the caches put out for the BLE. I was lucky enought to attend but sadly did not have enough time or energy to get many of the caches that weekend.
A big day out, with much success.
Thanks

Found while attending BLE event with Cabbos. Tftc and thanks for your efforts over the weekend.
At the BLE Event in Nelson. Caching with Whites on Windsor, lolfrog, and jeffeddy. Great cache, TFTC.
I had no idea that there had ever been drill attempts for oil and gas around here, so great choice for a cache location! Can't believe they drilled 3 kilometres down and had still not struck bedrock! Explains those sink holes a bit. Good coordinates made for an easy find. My last cache with Labchick for the weekend. We headed off to collect my car and have a farewell coffee. Then I went on the lovely LBE boat ride (after locating the correct wharf!) and LC Drove off into the Festival State. Returned later in the day once I realised that there was another attraction located here! Cache #1,458.
I, like the previous finder, cannot believe they drilled down 3km and didn't hit bedrock... nor oil. Oh well, if you don't try you don't know the saying goes. Thanks for the cache and the history lesson.
We are sure that if they had found oil, then Nelson would not be peaceful place that it is now. TFTC and the local history.
Found this neat cache during BIG little EVENT. Our thanks go out to all involved in the event and to all who have placed caches for the event.
Our apologize for the late logs, and the boilplate plate logs.
Due to events happening in our lives just after the event, the logging had to be put on hold until now.
We had a fantastic time, met some new caches and even bumped into a few old ones from afar.
Many, many thanks to all involved.

Decided on grabbing a few caches after a meal at the local pub, found this one quickly enough which was handy as it was getting dark fast. Interesting place for a gz, never knew that they were looking for oil out this way, cool! TFTC
Saturday at BLE and Dennisc52 and I set off to have a boat ride , then start our day's caching [^]
We got a tad sidetracked by hunting for a gas fitting for a stove and so ended up in Mt Gambier, where we eventually managed to get a few caches [^]
Back to Nelson for tea, then we headed out with firesafe, Honeysucker and Huurtle for some night caching [^] before the first two headed to their respective sleeping spot and we other three headed back to Nelson [|)]
I attempted to locus cache at 23 caches and only had 1 DNF so that meant 22 smiley faces
We did a few caches after tea and this was one of them. The history lessons I get while geocaching never cease to amaze me as does the tenacity and hopefullness of some human beings

#3511 We had a very late night the night previously in Portland - due to a truck roll over on our return journey home (no one was injured however the power lines didn't fair so well nor did the truck). So after a sleep-in this was our first cache of the day at 10.40am. We arrived to find Mishion already there with cache in hand, soon enough we were joined by pprass, Phetlern, Squalid and Rural Slicker making for our own mini event. A very interesting place, we can barely imagine them drilling 3klm & all for nought . Our thanks to jgc3 for highlighting a great area & for the other cachers for the chat & laughs. Cheers [^]

Found with Pprass, Squalid and RuralSlicker. B L E - “Boxes Left Everywhere” We couldn’t search for them in numerical order, but that’s OK . The diversity of scenery, some quirky hides and catching up with fellow cachers along the trail made it a most enjoyable series. The time and effort given to create this series for other cachers to enjoy is to be commended. This was a popular spot today, with two other teams right at the turn of time.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt jgc3.

Well I was due back to the family at the Karnkendi Campsite but after the 4WD adventure north of Nelson I decided that this was the best time to get those on the west side of the river as well. So I nabbed an extra half hour to get them. This one presented a little trouble, I think the co-ords were a bit out, and I was on my own this time, so it took a few mins to nail it down in the obvious spot. TNLN. Thanks.
Found with Crane 2. Always amazes where feats of engineering have taken place & why.
Out caching after dinner with FireSafe, HoneySucker, Locus Cache, and DennisC52 for some nighttime caching.
