After visiting the nearby nursery and grabbing some new plants for the garden to replace some trees that fell during a storm kiwitreker1 and I decided to seek some caches. This was the first on our return journey home. Cache in good nick, thanks for placing it!
A nice easy find here, once we realised that the coords are well off - just had to follow the hint. TFTC!
The hint is clear, but the coordinates are wrong ... logbook is "dissolving", lid of cache box is missing.
Heading back south along the Kaipara Highway with rattll, after a week or so in Northland. Pulled over in the layby, and rattll jumped out and made the find without any issues according to the hint...but in the other direction from GZ. The log is very fragile. Signed (carefully), and returned as found. Tftc!
Slowly making our way back towards Hamilton and the end of our couple of weeks 'Northland get away'.We're picking up some caches as we go (as you do).A quick stop and another 'smiley' bagged! Although the co ords are about 50mts offThanks for putting this here
We wanted to mark our journey south so stopped here for a quick find. TFTC NB: the lid is missing but cache dry.
I found this geocache today and signed the logbook. Thanks for this cache and it's maintaining.
I must have passed this many times without stopping so we stopped for a quick fix this time. Log paper falling apart but plenty of spots to sign on despite that. Tftc
Agree with last finder, the coordinates were about 50m out, but the hint took us straight to the cache. As I was removing the log with my pen I also flicked a large skunk out of the cache. GeohoundandI and I both shrieked much to the amusement of somebody turning around in the road opposite.
Today I was on a mission as part of Team G0LD to Te Rau Puriri Regional Park on South Kaipara Head, to hopefully clear all the caches there and as many more as possible on the peninsula.
With the Te Rau Puriri mission successfully completed, it was on to the rest of the local caches despite the very hot day. Really glad for the aircon in the cache mobile in between caches.
Quick stop on our way home now. Coordinates didn't make sense, but using hint, made a quick find in the most likely location, which is actually 50 metres away. I suggest CO updates the coords to the correct ones.

Nice and handy find on my way home from Kaipara Harbour weekend.
One more time GPS was useless but hint very helpful.

Heading home from the north. Today thought I’d try SH 16 rather than 1, and get some caches. Lid still missing, left facing down to minimise water egress. TFTC
North Island Campervan trip Day 10
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night was spent near the centre of Whangarei, so that I could spend a few hours caching around there before starting my drive back to Auckland. That was always assuming the weather played ball of course lol!
So now I was hitting the road to head south again. Having reached Wellsford, the road traffic advice was to avoid Warkworth so I decided to use the alternative route SH16 having never driven it before.
Pulling off the road into the layby, my immediate thought was that co-ords seemed wildly out. But the Hint made for a very quick find in the obvious place. I took a reading and found the cache at;
S 36° 35.911 E 174° 28.853
Once the log was signed, everything was replaced as found ready for the next searcher.
Thanks for setting up this cache

Heading north for work today, grabbed some nearby caches while in the area
Quick find, thank goodness for the parking space on a very busy stretch of road today! No top on the container but all dry inside. TFTC
#1104. With the revised coordinates from the previous log it took me exactly two seconds to find this cache. What was a lot harder was getting the logbook out of the cache, as it's quite a big logbook!
Thanks very much for the cache!

Today I decided to head north and west from where I was staying in Auckland City. Finding a few more caches in my spare time. I was accompanied by a work colleague and part time geocacher from Adelaide. Only found this one because of the hint. Coordinates were way off. I took a reading at GZ and got S 36° 35.913 E 174° 28.848
Our first cache in New Zealand! After we got used to the left-hand traffic, we looked for caches on the roadside. So we stopped here. Based on the hint, the can was found quickly, even though our GPS led us to the wrong direction. Thank you for setting and maintaining the cache.
Trouvée en se rendant sur un camping pas loin
Merci maintenance demandée nous n avons rien avec nous pour remplacer la boite

This one was a bit of a hard find with the coordinates so far out.
Riser5 found it in the end tho.

I'm up in Whangarei visiting my parents for one last time before I head over to the UK for the foreseeable future - however they are currently on their last leg of their south island tour, so actually aren't home at the moment, so I've got some time on my hands.
Woke up early this morning and after a quick look out of window into the darkness at the weather, I decided that I would head down Waiwera/Kaukapakapa way, to collect some caches in the Route 66 series. I solved the Route 66 series at least two years ago now and haven't had the opportunity to collect as I've always been in a hurry to get to the parents' place in Whangarei.
I was going really well on the Route 66 series before lunch, but since eating my sandwich, I seem to have lost my mojo. Can't be bother going back down dusty rounds for the rest of the series, so going to head back home with a few on the way. A quick find here. TFTC

Dropped off a guy that was hitchhiking after his car ran out of petrol - he unloaded his two cans of petrol from the boot and I saw that there was a cache right across the road so walked across to take a look. Coordinates are well out here - maybe 30 metres? - but not to worry as the hint made it very clear where to look and it's one of my favourite hiding spots so no worries.
Nice quick find and put back as found - thanks for the cache.

Thank you for this cache, wasa & chec. A quick find with the hint, but the co-ords were about 20m off.
The lid wasn't on and there were a few spider webs (but, thankfully, no spiders!); the log was dry but not easy to remove from container. I replaced the lid easily (but it isn't attached to the container any more). A warm and sunny day in Auckland.

During our holidays in New Zealand, we spent a couple of days in Auckland with program sightseeing, gastronomy and, of course, Geocaching!
So, we took the time to visit a few Caches, to remove some green, orange or blue dots on our map.
We will distribute favorite points according to our mood and caches met.
Thank you to all Owners for the installation of these boxes and for their maintenance.
A nice place for a box!
Greetings from France!

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We had a couple of jobs to complete yesterday, and unexpectedly stayed the night in nearby Wellsford. Being unprepared was an experience, but we managed nevertheless... We were in the area this April, and were keen to have another shot at the caches along Highway 16, So here we go...
We arrived much quicker than expected and overshot this one. Luckily, good parking was available. We imagine this little intersection to be quite busy at various times of the day. TFTC.

Real goal today was a multi in the area which we missed last time we were here.
Rest of the day was mostly like yesterday with weather and cache finds but great to find caches that have had DNF's against them. SLTFTC

Out and about for a spot of cache detection, in between the showers and hail, today. With the weather rather changable I was, mostly, focused on caches with minimal walks to GZ. I parked up nice and close to GZ. After a quick search I soon had the goods in hand. This was a result of me reading the cache page and using the information provided there, as my GPSr was pointing a lot further north than actual GZ. Cheers for the cache placement!
I parked in the easy parking place before the barrier. My GPS took me in circles here but the cache was an easy find as per the hint. A car was parked on the other side and I hoped they didn't spot me. As I continued on I saw the car driver meeting with a policeman just around the corner. Not sure what they were looking at as I didn't want to add another job for the policeman by crashing myself. Thanks for your cache series out this way
Quick park and grab while out this way for work. Log slightly damp but all ok here
Beautiful outlook here

After making an inadvertent wrong turn while collecting some of the route 66 caches today found myself out here with TheMexiKiwi and seemed fitting that the place we chose to stop and confirm our next course of action happened to have a cache in it. GPS was sending us the wrong way but the hint made sense and the cache was soon found. TFTC
Came here this morning to grab this one to continue my daily streak (Day #264) Nice quick find. TFTC
#3989. The last day of my short visit to Auckland and closing in on 4000 finds. Decided a trip up north was in order to pick up a special cache. Just needed to find 14 other caches on the way. Not sure what happened to the coordinates here. Had me heading up a small hill. Then stopped to read the hint and it was somewhere completely different. Nice quick find once at the correct GZ. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache.
GPS coords well off but the clue is good. Had it in hand pretty quickly

Heading up to Whangarei area to visit people after landing from CHCH, I grabbed a couple caches along the way.
This was on the return trip back to the city of the future. Despite the coords being some 55m out, it was pretty obvious where this cache was placed
TFTC wasa & chec, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 8 finds of 20 today, making this find #1524

Either my gps was playing up, or the coords are 60 metres out. Quickly found in the usual place. Cheers.
On the way back home now, driving, to Auckland.. Time to find a few little boxes.....
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

This cache was a bit off, but still found it, since the possible hiding places were limited. Came here on an shirt afternoon trip north from Auckland and took the quick stop, search, find and log.
Thanks for showing this place by hiding a cache out here.
My gratitude to the owner for placing and maintaining this cache

Picking up few caches on the way back to home after a successful FTF and a surprise birthday celebration. The hint took us straight to the cache here. tftc.

Mr Patoto had a reunion in Makarau so made a 3 day weekend of it. I had planned to find 19 geocaches. Some on the way up and and rest on way back. #7. This was quite an easy find. Had a good area to park the motorhome. Thanks for the hint. GPS had a tanty again. Wanted me to go 68 metres away. TFTC.
Heading home from a long weekend this was available as a quick stop and grab. A straight forward find but there was a lot of traffic on the road and it was building in volume.
