Found with kiwitrecker1 while giving our legs a bit of a stretch. Cache safe and well, thanks!
passing by upgrading caches to the latest log container.. not required here.. its been more than two years since i have been here and the log is nice and dry... and cache just where i expected to see it;-)
Out with the wife today completing stage 3 of the Hillary Trail. Another great day of hiking throughout the Waitakere's! This stage has probably been my favourite so far - however a few more still to go!
The wife made a quick find here - a nice little rest before we headed off again to carry on the climb up!

After an afternoon of adventuring and treasure hunting (and a GPS battery that was getting low) I was starting to get a bit concerned whether I would make it back to the monkey mobile by sunset. Luckily this was a quick find so didn't hold me up. TFTC!
Was hoping I had reached the ridge and the hill would stop but no... Saw what I thought would be gz as I approached and was rewarded with a cache. All good condition, onwards and upwards and upwards.
Had a notification of a new cache cheekily placed atop a rather large hill not too far from where we had gathered for New Years ....Mr NZT was currently enroute to our current location, so we decided to wait for him to attempt the group FTF....ETA was only 15mins, but they seemed to go on for ever ..... Mr NZT arrived, unpacked, then back on the road to a suitable parking local.....
We thought we had a good plan in place to find the FTF which meant passing this cache on the way up the ridge....
Quickly located, signed in as SEAC to save logbook space, and back on the trail to the FTF..hopefully.

Mr HeMaLuDy, Mr Stik-a-crane, and Mr & Mrs NZTravellers headed up this way in search of a possible FTF further up. (At some stage Mrs NZT decided to leave the men to their FTF search and returned to the car). They stopped off and found a few other caches along the way, including this one. A good bush walk to gather the caches today. Signed as SEAC (South and East Auckland Caching Crew - an abbreviation we have adopted as we often cache together).
Our New Years camp with Team SEAC was held at the Huia Lodge where we all stayed over various days.
We had arrived a day later than most due to other family commitments and therefore missed out on some FTF's the previous day.
There was another FTF on this track today. Grabbed this cache on the way to that FTF which we were successful in claiming.
Signed Team SEAC.

Nice easily found cache, since it was only yesterday it was visited. I was wanting to join rusty, supernanny and merlot but was still very busy at work. So it was really nice to get out, have some fresh air away from work and the hassles that brings. Time to relax for a week before going back to work. Thanks ANZ for the cache.
With merlot58 and supernanny, sometimes it helps to have lots of searchers, as I thought I had moved that rock! supernanny did some dusting, and moved some natural camo, and there was the cache
Yeah, loving this walk, still climbing up, but I think I read 208m? elevation, nearly that now, so hopefully we will be levelling off soon! Thanks for the hide.

The name said it all ! Thanks alligatorsnz ......another one along the trail !
Great to get some fresh air , away from the Christmas Shopping madness !!!!

I was out with Supernanny and RustyNZ for a nice walk to get away from this manic time of year. We had all looked at where we thought it should be but saw nothing, then Supernanny suddenly called out 'got it'! As Rusty said, it pays to do the dusting sometimes!
Spotted the hint mentioned but nothing there. Searched further away also but np luck. See how others do.
Enjoying a grand day in the Waitaks up Gibbons down Moir and back along beach. Found this cache fairly easily although I had noted the wrong clue! Cache and log all nice and dry. TFTC
WE were now into our stride and focused on finding caches. Had this one spotted quickly and logged.
We went for the lichen-laden trees, only to find that trees are not the only things to inhabit lichen... TFTC.
A great day in the Waitaks today. The weather was great and the caching plentiful. However it took a turn for the worse in the afternoon when one of our party had a hiking accident requiring a very long wait at A&E, x-rays and stitches!
Out with Nigel Barnes 11 to do day two of the Hillary trail! My second visit here! Found by nb this time! All in order
At the last cache for our tramping caching walk. Late afternoon and that lovely light was highlighting the awesome valley and beyond. Miss onewheelfamily was muddy and having fun. Mrs onewheelfamily and I were looking for the gz object, suitably dressed. Mrs onewheelfamily commented Mmm how'd that get there..Nice camo good last one as we headed to the car. Thanks!
in the area changing logs - new log installed.. no need for a log bag now.. cache all present and correct
This cache was found in the 16 July.We left this cache as one to find on the way back to the car. This cache maintenance journey was certainly full of ups and downs by the time we found this cache. My daughter having her share of the downs. She was covered in mud from head to toe and having a ball.

after my rest at the previous cache I made it to this one nice and quickly. I was ready for another rest at the GZ and conveniently I was sitting on the ground when my phone rang and it was a friend stuck at a new cache i had hidden. After a quick helping hand I was off again. Quick find here. TFTC
Today Mallorcatommy and I did a huge walk... all in all 23 kilometres in a wonderful forrest... started at the whatipu campground.. This cache was the first one... We found this one quickly.. Thank you!
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
Cats&Dragons thought it would be a good idea to collect the earthcaches in the area... I thought I was good to add this hill into the climb. One of us was wrong as this turned into a very long day in the hot sun.
The caches themselves were great with amazing views of the coast and mountain but the physical effort took its toll on this body.
Cache was quickly found and in good condition.

Well this was a Bl##dy early mission as we were trying to keep out of the heat of the day but had a 2hr drive before we even started.
Out and about with Novalightning for a days caching along a coast that neither of us had explored before. I had suggested that we stick to the coast and make our way north, he suggested that we take Gibbons Track north as how had can it be, Year Right. And he was for the first 6 or 7 caches.
This was the second of the day for us and after a walk up from the Whatipu car park this was a great spot. It took further inspection for us to locate the cache.
thanks for the placement

Searched at the proposed location but didn't find the geocache at first glance. Moving things around in the end relieved the hide. TFTC
I went out on a post cyclone hike today, together with alligatorsnz, doing a loop circuit from Whatipu to Donald Mclean via Walker Ridge and returning again via Omanawanui Track – a great hike in the wind and occasional rain! After a DNF at the previous cache, this one was soon spotted! TFTC!
passing by on a tramp, often see plenty examples of cache creep when i have to look for my own caches at times.. but imagine my surprise when i didnt even need to look for this one ... there it was laying in plain site 2 meters from where it should be...? sure hope its not lazy cachers that just chuck it when finished?
Saw something matching the cache title almost immediately. Cache was gained soon after.
The upper part of Gibbons track is an old logging road, clearly visible by the formation and cuttings. After retrieving the cache I realised that this was where the old logging road left the track. The formation can be seen disappearing into the bush behind the cache.
Thanks for the cache .

This was to be the first of a number of caches on todays walk, but as we approached this one we could see some very nasty looking weather heading up the coast. Did the formalities here and decided to head back to the carpark, have lunch and see if it passed. Made it back to the car before the worst of the weather hit but half an hour later it was still raining heavily so decided to call it a day.

Dripping a bit with sweat after climbing the hill towards the top here. great track though, so dry this year. TFTC.
Checked with council and (as also on website is stated) Dogs are allowed on the gibbons and muir track!!! Altough you need to pass a "no dogs" sign. Dogs are allowed on the track..confirmed by the council and other locals.
So we enjoyed a great walk and followed a trail of caches on the Gibbons track.
pff this was a nice challenge, going up and up. and then making the same "mistake" as previous cachers and search some more likely hidingspots...not looking at the GPS as this was almost spot on.
Thanks for putting this cache here.

I searched around a couple of others until I spied the one with the cache name.
Cheers for the cache.
The first time I came out here was mid-winter and the trail was a mudslide. It’s dry as a bone today--even the lichen looks thirsty. It’s barely recognisable as the same trail. I’m in home the stretch now after an epic loop walk starting at Whatipu, going north along the beach and dunes, then up to Zion's Pool cache, then back along Gibbons Track. I logged 22 km in 8 hours if the GPS tracker is to be believed. Not the fastest, but I’m happy with the adventure considering some the bush bashing and assorted stops for caches along the way. Cheers for the cache.
Just heading past on a tramp, replacing the log with a new low maintenance version... - found cache squashed under a large stone with the lid popped off;-( please just put it back where you find it next to the rock - it cant breath under those big rocks....
Day 2 of the great geocaching adventure with Tracit - this is starting to be hot work. I have never seen the track so dry, needed an excuse to stop for a breather on the way up the hill. Quick find and on our way towards the Pararaha. TFTC
Last minute change in our plans gave us the opportunity to attend the event but as we were too late to join up with the official cache tour party we decided to complete our own private tour.
This was the second find for us on the track and another good little hide TFTC.

A suspicious bunch of stones on the track turned out to be just that. Cache eventually found a bit further on.
While I caught up and found my breath, I watched the others search a pile of suspiciouse rocks, only to not find the cache. However the cache was eventually found. TFTC
Another pretty quick find with the team. Our youngest group member grabbed this one in short order. It was a nice spot to grab another rest!
Cache #2 found in a group of nine led by KiwiLeon during the Waitangi at Whatipu event. Great views on the way up. Thanks!
Did the walk as part of our Whatipu event.
Nice walk up and along the ridge.
No problem finding the cache with 9 GPSrs.

Found on our walk from Whatipu to Pararaha Valley via Gibbons and Muir Tracks with Kiwileon, Mike-miss, Little Red Hood, Jacksonz, Arachnaphobe and Slieschke. Had a great time and loved the views from the various vantage points along the clifftops. Cheers.
2nd stop with the group as part of the Waitangi Campout walk via Gibbons/Muir/Pararaha Stream/Beach loop. Nice quick and easy find here. Good chance to have a rest stop before continuing on our journey. TFTC!
2nd "morning tea" break of the day, after working up a bit of a sweat on this brilliant morning. We are the slow walkers behind the people racing to do the Gibbons track loop on the Whatipu event day.
Re dogs, Glad it works for you:-)
Like all signs placed by authority i just tend to take them at face value... just like stop signs.. ( "its ok officer all the locals said run it")

Having come out to take on Susan, decided that since it was such a nice day, to wander around the track up here to pick up these new hides. Always a good slog up this hill, so took our time, and made sure to enjoy the view on our way up. With 4 people looking, the likely looking spot was found pretty quickly, and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC
After getting to the top of Susan nearby and with the weather too good to head indoors decided to do a few of the caches along here before having to call it a day.
The awesome weather meant that plenty of people were out and about and I've never seen Whatipu so busy, but most of them were choosing the beach rather than heading up the hill so the population faded away pretty quickly. Enjoyed the hike to GZ and the views that were on show today - some of the best I've ever seen. Quick find of the cache and then away to the next. TFTC

Saw these caches on the Gibbons track come up the other day and was sure they would go quickly but when I checked that evening, to my surprise no one had found them yet so made the decision to make an early start in the morning and have a go at my first FTF and yes got it my first FTF .
