It was a bit early to have lunch at Kuataika Trig so headed of to do this cache FIRST. Been past a here a few times but never noticed the vehicle before so thanks for bringing me here. I can see why Roadside Rescue have given up on this one. TFTC
Out with Greenblat & Evilno9 enjoying a rainy stroll along the area. Interesting object at GZ. TFTC
Out today with Alpenmilch80 & EvilNo9. Nicely placed where we need to turn off in order to round the loop track. Guess there must be a story behind the hide object - would have been hard getting home without it T4TC
Out for a hike/explore from Anawhata today, together with the CO and a few muggles. Stopped at this interesting feature on the way down the Kuataika track. No problems finding the cache here and all was well with the container. I think Roadside Rescue might struggle to get this one going again! TFTC!
passing by on a search for mud, cache in order all though must have been one of my earlier ones as it the clue is just to easy.. have to do something about that lol...
Having an excellent muddy wet tramp with a couple of mates..looking at the blue sky thinking 'who doesnt want to go tramping in winter'. Looking for the up and coming cache im thinking interesting title for a cache in the bush.but then all was revealed...thanks nice job
Nearly required a roadside rescue ourselves after coming up that hill, but on the brightside those easter eggs will now just restore what we lost today.

Tried to get this one out of the way early before the heat of the day sets in. The track/(road) is quite wide. I came in from Anawhata Rd, but wondering if there would have been less climb if biking in from Long Rd. T4TC - M@
Came in from Symths Corner and past Kuataika. Amazing that most of the bodywork is gone - just some suspension and differential case - but the rubber tires are still fairly good. I doubt these 'roads' have seen many cars since the 1920's and it must have been hard travel then.
Back up to Kuataikia Trig for lunch and views.
Thanks for the cache!

Out with the gang today. Did this one first before heading back down again to hop into the Anawhata stream.
We sprinkkled some fairy dust so the muggles couldn't see us.

Out for the day with KiwiLeon, evilno9, Lemski and Little Red Hood making the most of Good Friday. Parked at the parking coordinates and made our way towards GZ. The track drops steeply down and then of course back up again! Found the cache, signed the log and then headed back down to Anawhata stream for a few more caches. TFTC!
Decided that with a day off, and summer coming to an end it was time to get one more decent walk in
before the winter set in. So headed off with evilno9, kiwileon, mike-miss and little red hood to tackle some caches out the back of anawhata.
Decided to hit this one first before jumping in the stream. It was a decent slog down the hill, not to mention having to climb up the other side, But we took it easy, and much to the relief of our legs made it to the GZ without too much problem. Saw what we were obviously looking for, and after a quick hunt came up with find, fairy dust and all. Signed the log, and headed back down the hill to the stream. TFTC

Planned a day out in the stream with Kiwileon, mike-miss, lemski and little red hood and this cache got to be our first one for the day. Wasn't expecting to have to run a gauntlet of bulls through the paddock at the top of the track but they left us alone thankfully and it wasn't long before we were on the track proper. Quite a steep bit of up and downs as we approached GZ but we got there in pretty good time and soon found ourselves a fairly obvious area to search. Nice quick find then off to the stream for the next few hours. TFTC
It’s been said that one is continually loosing brain cells. This has been proven time and again. But I think I might be the first to do the proof via geocaching. This is my story:
I was debating on Piha or Anawhata. I thought there would be heaps of people around Piha today with the awesome weather and the long weekend, so decided on Anawhata. So I set off this morning with not much of a plan, GPS (iPhone), a bit of food and water, a basic first aid kit a camera, a topo map, a compass and a fleece pullover and a pen and jammed it all into a daypack. It’s just the typical stuff for a day hike. I usually bring a light rain jacket to the Waitaks too (you never know out there), but decided against it. I’m travelling fast and light today, I told myself, and the forecast is good.
The goal was to get up to the cache on Cannibal Creek (“What is on the Menu?” GCEC39) while picking up the caches on the way. In and out, I planned. I ended up doing an unplanned 12 km loop.
After a quick lunch at Cannibal Creek (trail mix and a fruit bar, no meat today) I check the GPS to see where my next unfound cache is. Turns out is “Roadside Rescue” (GC44F96) which is only about 700 m away (straight line of course). I decide to go for it.
This is the point where the “in and out” plan really turns into the 12 km loop, and 700 m straight line turns into an all out bush bash including about 1 km along trails that hadn’t seen use in probably over a hundred years. I counted three varieties of cuttie grass and scads of gorse. I hate gorse. Cuttie grass I can deal with. You get zapped, it bleeds, and then it’s done. You know what to expect and there’s a technique to pass through it. Go slowly! Gorse on the other hand jabs, and it jabs when you least expect it. Needles in your shirt and in your shoes. Then it keeps on prickling for ages after you’re out of the crap. Did I mention that I hate gorse?
A blank log book and an FTF! A nice treat. Strange piece of gear here. Why? A fave point from me for the experience! Cheers for the cache. Soon after the cache, I pop out onto a virtual surperhighway. After the bush bashing, a broad 4WD track is a sweet!
Here is a link to a KML file of my track that opens in Google Earth (http://share.abvio.com/1b73148f4eca4cd0/Cyclemeter-Hike-20130127-1138.kml).
