Off on our holidays, traveling from Adelaide to Nullarbor, Broken Hill, Mildura and the Mallee Region.
Chasing a few Caches, Earthcache's, Virtual's & Multi's along the way, this was one of the caches we found.
Taking a few TB's along the route and placing a Path Tag or two as we discover the Yellow Smiley Faces!
The question is, did we find it worthy of a favourite point?
We thank the CO for bringing us to this place in beautiful Australia.

###**CACHE OWNER ACTION REQUIRED PLEASE**###
----------
I've noticed this cache is carrying a maintenance log which really does need to be addressed by the cache owner.
The guidelines indicated that regular visits to check on the cache, as well as prompt attention to any logs that indicate there is a problem, are part of the [**cache owners responsibilities.**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines#listingmaintenance) If you can't attend to the issue promptly, then you need to [**Disable it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235) - I have Disabled it for you this time.
**Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) by 16th August,** so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?
You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:
- Repair and/or Replace your cache or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.
- If you don't plan on fixing it up then please [**Archive it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
- If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (by 16th August). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache, it is likely that I will unfortunately have to Archive it on the basis that it has been abandoned. Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then.
Please don't send me an email but instead follow the advice/instructions posted above.

Unfortunately the lid is no longer on site and there is a lot of water in the container. It's begun affecting the log in the form of mould but the paper will still take ink. I'd suggest a new container.
Following on from Ranfurly Park, I drove over to this particular cache as having two large-sized caches so close to each other was unusual. Cache found without a problem.
Cache is beyond repair and is in need of desperate maintenance or achiving. Container is destroyed beyond repair and contents are filled with water.
I found this poor cache in a sorry state it is half full of water and the log book is soaked and slimy. Normally I would try to perform some roadside maintenance to keep it going. but this was beyond any repair resources I had with me. I I get a chance I may return to it and replace the container and contents. TFTC.
Arrived at GZ easily enough , but .......mai ntenance needed most of the goodies underwater. Enjoyed the hunt.
Found at 1045 on a houseboat holiday with SirJ-Oz & family and Muggle-L.
Victory was ours! No, not finding the cache - getting the kids away from the electronic gadgetry and actually wandering about! The usual routine of a morning swim had been stymied by a slick on the water (I was up before the sun, and in the pre-dawn light all I saw was a sort of brownish sludge with flecks of white, and I wondered if a houseboat upstream had lost containment and filled the river with - well, use your imagination... I certainly did!) and once we'd repositioned in a more aquatically acceptable area we were only 350ish metres away from GZ, so skirrel and j-bean were persuaded / cajoled / (bribed?) into coming along for the walk, at least to this one.
The kids walked with Muggle-L & I, on a route that seemed ok on paper (well, screen) but turned out to have a dry creekbed complete with well established rushes and undergrowth between us and our goal. Still, we forged & forded ahead, and made it to GZ to find SirJ & his good lady wife had arrived well ahead of us - on this occasion taking the long route was apparently the shortcut.
I spotted the cache on approach but walked past to let one of the kids make the find and briefly considered dropping a couple of pathtags, but there is definitely a lack of waterproofness to this container that made me reconsider. There wasn't much we could do to salvage the contents, so we fitted the remains of the lid on best we could (token gesture really), the kids & HGLW headed back to the houseboat for the promised dunking in the drink, while SirJ, Muggle-L & I wandered further afield.
Thanks for the cache TheVersteegs.

Find #3312. Found @ 10:49 with AmethystPig, Muggle-L, skirrel, j-bean and The Good Lady Wife.
We're on an Easter break getaway to see some of the Murray by houseboat (a small section), and grabbing a cache or two is on my agenda.
We begun the day by forcing the kids to get off the boat and get some exercise, well actually we begun the day by moving the boat because our previous location had been inundated with icky algae making a swim undesirable. We moved, and then made the bargain of come to one cache, and on return we'd swim. On return was after this cache for the kids, but AmethystPig, Muggle-L and I continued on for a bit.
The Good Lady Wife and I made our way to this one a bit after the others, but somehow made it to GZ first. We waited for the others to catch up so j-bean could make the find, and yet he walked right past it.
The container lid is smashed and mostly missing, and the contents of the cache is too water affected to want to swap. I'd add a needs maintenance flag, but I see it already has one.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache TheVersteegs

Nice easy find. Cache has been muggled and lid is smashed and contents spread on ground. Log book very damp. Signed as best I could. CO may need to visit this and replace container.
This was the biggest cache we have ever found!! Disappointed that it was in need of maintenance. We took out some of the damaged swaps due to water damage. Logbook is also damp.
Camped at Merbein common for a couple of days. Out this afternoon for a few caches. TFTC
This was a fantastic idea for a fun kids cache. Pity the container had disintegrated. Badly needs maintenance. SL and replaced. TNLN. TFTC! !
A quick find towards the end of the day. Traffic streaming past not far away but nothing to interfere with our search. Love the size of the cache container. TFTC
Found by geodaughter (doesn't have her own account) while on caching holiday with geograndma and geofriend
Found out with Beary Organised on fourth day of Caching holiday in Mildura. LOTS & LOTS ANTS. Cache in very poor condition everything wet & grotty. Cleaned it up a bit & put all contents in shopping bag & new log. Needs URGENT attention & new Cache container. TFTC TNSL
Found it with CherryRose and geo granddaughter. This was a mess. Everything has gone brittle and the lid was broken. The bucket had water and mud in the bottom and the swaps were ruined. We tried to clean it up as best we could. We put what was salvageable in a plastic bag and put it in the bucket but as the lid was broken it will fill with water the next time it rains. Needs major help. TFTC TNLNSL
NEEDS URGENT ATTENTION. We tried to clean contents & replaced in a shopping bag as bucket had lots of water & mud in it. Lid & bucket starting to disintergrate.
I made this our last find this afternoon while in the area trying to catch some fish for dinner. No luck on that front but managed a easy find with this cache, the container is a little weather beaten but otherwise log was all good, thanks TheVersteegs for the good sized cache.
with the river still in flood we continued on holidays so more Caching time.
Now we have wandered from Anglesea to Mt Gambier Adelaide and back to Geelong now to Alexander onto Euroa and beyond we have found many other like minded people so the caching adventure grows stronger.
As we came through this area we met up with Roosterman and joined in with the rebel act to do the caches in this area had a great couple of days doing the tour.
Thanks TheVersteegs for putting this cache out for us to find

In Mildura to catch up with honeysucker for the weekend. After a couple of hot days, today was a welcome change with 25C and made it a lot easier to do some caching. TFTC.
Last stop on me tour of this area
A quick find after a short stroll,
thanks to the size of the cache,
and it being rather exposed
That exposure has caused the lid to become cracked,
and inside the swaps are losing their appeal [:o]
Logbook still signable

TFTC lots of interesting swaps in this cache. We took a plastic dinosaur and placed a crab for the next geocachers to swap
Enjoyed a few days holidaying at Mildura. Found some great caches and a little bling. (Also left a little bling for the next finder)

With the weather playing havoc with our plans we decided to head over this side of town to continue our caching and add some more smilies to our Mildura tally in the company of DAB. We still got slightly rained on as we jumped in and out of the car searching for the caches but it sure beat getting bogged in the sludge of King Billabong Park.
Thanks TheVersteegs for the large hide.
Thanks TheVersteegs for the large hide.
After attending some events and great caching in Mildura yesterday with Hevwalker and Clare007 it was time to head back home to SA.
Having heard that caching in three States on one day qualified us for some challenge caches somewhere or another I decided that this is what we would do. [^]
No camo on the cache today - all either blown away or been washed away as not much nearby really to replace it. But that just makes for a very quick find.
Thanks for another one TheVersteegs.

A nice walk into some bush land and we found a heap of goodies.

After a huge day yesterday, we were at it again. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as kind to us today. The planned 4wd tour was cut short after I got bogged, 3 times !! With a change of plans, we stuck to more solid ground. Once again we found a great variety of hides and cache types. Thanks again to the CO's. What a great sized hide !! TFTC TheVersteegs
brisal5, clare007 & I were heading for the NSW border but had some time to grab some caches along the way...
A well hidden nice sized cache...thanks

No trouble at all finding this one
The lid is cracked around the edges and is no longer water tight, needs replacement as the contents are getting water damage.
Thanks

In Mildura for a few day of resting and relaxing. Today was a sight seeing and geocaching day. First of the day, and a quick find.
Sorry for the slow log.

Set off to find a couple of Caches on this fine Saturday, Before Lord Rossatron started work tonight!
This was our second last for the day, and I read about this one the other day added it to our list! We found the cache quite easily, I thought to myself if Lord Rossatron and I were to have geochildren after opening this cache they would have loved what they seen inside!! We had a quick look through the toys but we didnt take any! TFTC!!
One day when we have children in the future, we will have to take them back to this cache or anything similiar! it was pretty cool

Found this cache with plenty of swag inside. the logbook was a little on the damp side though. great cache
#2666th - Teddy bears' picnic found by Bruce but crikey, those ants arrive without notice.
Cache probably needs a clean out. All part of the fun and challenges on our AroundOz bicycle tour via the highest peak in each State and mainland Territory.

Many thanks to the cache owner TheVersteegs for establishing and maintaining this cache.
Worthy of a favourite point for the effort in setting this type of cache up.

I found this while in Mildura for some speedway meetings. It was a most enjoyable day. tftc.
Crusty.
Crusty.
Finally found. Cache is swarming with ants as the lid wasn't put on properly. TFTC
This was a great cache idea but very disappointing. It seemed like it had been put on the same spot as a bullant colony. The lid had not been properly replaced and the logbook has been wet and dried out. We left some shells that wont be bothered by the weather and an eraser in a plastic bag and took a sad looking happy face badge and a maze toy but this one needs a bit of TLC.
Adelaide trip September 2015. I spend five days driving to Adelaide taking some more remote routes across the river land area and exploring new places along the way. Day 2. Today was the day to head along the rivers from Balranald to Lock 8 via Mildura and the old mail route caches. Plenty of signs of wet roads, but all dried out now. Some mazing country along the way. Maybe this was supposed to be easy, but I did not make it easy. Found in the end.
Thanks.

Did the short walk to this one from the main road. Having just come from The Pretender I was still pretending to be a Platter. You know:
Yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around.
Anyway, back to this cache. Was so busy trying to remember the lyrics that I didn't realise I was standing there like a ninny getting covered with big ants. Don't know if I was lucky or they just weren't the bitey type.
Cache was quickly located once I got my brain back in to caching gear, did take a while to re-seal the container though. Will be quite a few busy spiders between GZ and the main road tonight. Seemed to walk through lots of webs to get to this one. Thanks.

Dropped off some bits and pieces to add to the collection and an appropriate TB TFTC
Ok so I didn't drop of Rex TB, I still have that one somewhere at home (its mine) I am away for a few days so will remove it off the cache page when back home as I can't seem to do it without the code from it. The Yellow Lego is definitely there though.

In collaboration with the Suscoe team we delayed our departure for Morgan to tidy up a couple of caches which we missed yesterday. At last a truly "Kid Friendly" cache well done!
Thanks to TheVersteegs for the hunt.

Suscoe's 4th find of the day as we were heading across the border in the company of Phetlern.
We left quite early this morning and gathered some cache finds around the Merbein area prior to heading west to Morgan.
It was a got day for this trip but as we progressed the thunder storms rolled across the Mallee and brought the temperature down at times as well as a bit of moisture.
A quick stop here and soon the cache was found and the log signed.
Thanks to TheVersteegs for placing this cache.

Getting towards the home leg of our SA trip, and a more relaxing day around the Riverland and Mildura. Have bypassed Merbein countless times in our rush heading east or west, so this is our first run through town.
Had a bit of trouble finding this as its hide belied its size. Thought I'd found it in a small clearing but it turned out to be an electric frying pan, complete with lid, filled some rotting scientific microbial experiment. And then I spied a flash of green lid through the cammo. Nice to see one this size out here.
Thanks TheVersteegs for the cache.

Found with Bogonghazy after having a day off caching yesterday. We netted in excess of 50 finds for the day, ate lunch on the go in the car, but found some fantastic hides during the day. Seeing these size containers at hides always puts a smile on my face. No swaps made, but I still enjoy seeing the big containers, reminds me of the old days of caching. Thanks again to the Versteegs.
Sully and I struggled here to find this one, and then smacked our heads when we noticed the telltale sign of a cache. Nice to once again see a good sized container, thanks again TheVersteegs and kids

The Mega Event has come to an end Now it is the long drive home and back to work At least there are a few caches to be had on the way home Out and about with lgoody today. Fantastic day caching. Thank you for placing this one
The co-ords are good on this one and now that we are back at the motor home and logging, this is the time that I allow myself to read the previous logs, I see that many have had trouble with finding this one. Not sure why, as the cache hide certainly stands apart from it's surrounds. SL TFTC
Continuing our journey around Mildura with alansee, pprass and doheng this was the next cache on the list.
What a surprise find this was. This type of container was very popular back in 2003 when we started caching and we always enjoy finding one now.
It was very well stocked but we had no swaps with us today so we took nothing but left a favourite point.

So many swaps and so little on us to swap Definitely a kids treasure chest.

Found by Roma and Max.
We spent a considerable time here, much longer than we should have, but this find stood us in good stead for a number of your similar hides we were to search for later on today!
Loved the container size and the contents would certainly make any junior geosearcher happy.
Thank you TheVersteegs.

We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the "land down under."
We spent way longer on this find than we should of. We were pretty sure what we were looking for but somehow we missed it when we first went in (must have walked right by). Somehow we got mislead and off- track thinking that gps was leading us astray. Looked everywhere but in the right place. We looked for much longer than our usual alotted time (over half hour to be sure). Just as we were giving up and about to leave it appeared out of nowhere. How did we miss it in the first place.... not sure
Giving you a fav for giving us a challenge, thanks TheVersteegs!

Headed to Mildura today for a day of caching, and with the day forecast to be warm...I got off to an early start. Arrived at GZ expecting this one to be fairly straight forward...although after a minute or two, I soon began to realise how it may be hidden. After scratching around for a few more minutes...I eventually stumbled upon the cache in the manner I expected...although not too pleased about. After emailing the owner about it...and conversing on the phone...I'm happy to let this one slide. Always enjoy seeing big containers...and this one is reminiscent of the early geocaching hides.

This one took longer than it should. Was hoping it wasn't the style it was. We searched a large area before we concentrated on looking down. Definitely a good cache for kids as long as they can find it. Took the pathtag, left trackable for the locals. TFTH.
# 5513. Our second day in the area so today Robmc and I headed towards Merbein and surrounding caches for a good day with some interesting and innovative hides. Apart from being rather stymied by the pre-Christmas Sunday Market in the main street of Merbein we had a fairly successful day.
Another stroll towards the river and we soon spotted a likely suspect. Yes, there it is. My that is a large container. A favourite point for all the goodies inside. TN. Discovered the Trackable but left it for another visitor as it was rather large. Left one of my new Mask Pathtags here.
Thanks TheVersteegs

BettyBoo3747 and I toured around Merbein, then crossed to the airport for a few more caches.
A day of varied and interesting hides.
There is quite a haul of toys in this excellently sized cache. We saw the TB there but didn't take him.
Thanks, Robmc.
