Approaching GC we became aware that there could be quite a number of hiding places! After a few circuits of the tree without luck we resorted to the hint and even this did not initially help. Found once I found the plaque. I also have this one set up at home and will add it in a few days.

Back in Darwin for a night before we hapead out to Kakadu. We have found and signed the log in anticipation of collecting our bonafides when we return to Sydney. We laughed when we located the container. Oh, that plaque!! And the CO must be very tall! Cheers Gaztek

Based on recent logs, I thought I'd have another shot on a pre-dinner walk this evening. It still took a while before I finally spotted the subject of the hint and not long after that, I had the micro (not 'small') container in hand at 18:05. TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks once again corunnaroad.

No luck amongst all the leaves, wazza9 replaced a bew container after stamping our names. Thanks to CO I will change the log to a find when I prepare the list.

I finally found some wire fence, but I couldn't find a cache hanging on it.

We had a nice walk in Darwin. It was hot and after a short but intense rain shower it was hot and humid. However, we could visit some Caches here . In Darwin for a few days from Perth doing the touristy thing and picking up few smilies here and there when I get the chance. Up early today on the last day in this rather hot and humid city picking up few smileys here and there.I had done the homework on a lot of these challenges pre-trip and qualified for quite a few. It was a little disappointing not being able to find some of them once I got to the GZ's though.Spent a few minutes rummaging around here for no joy. Finally found the plaque but no cache. Too bad since I know we qualify.

I had a lunch date with my muggle friend and thought I’d be able to quickly find this cache before meeting her. I had swapped the orange bike to an orange scooter and quickly zipped down to GZ. I swear I searched everywhere, except the place the cache is hiding!! Perhaps my next visit to Darwin I will find it and in the meantime I will work on my list.
I love challenges as they motivate me to look for certain caches.
Now it’s time for lunch ??

Day 52 of our greynomad trip up north and after a the JLWEvents, a tour of Maralinga and caching to claim LGAs in the Eyre Peninsula, we are attempting to escape the southern weather that has been wet and windy. Not sure that we are acclimatised to the northern heat yet as we are feeling it by early afternoon, but out sightseeing and caching in the morning.

A quick find after discovering the Chinese Museum wasn't open. Had a chat to a nearby muggle before finding the sneaky hide, did I say I don't like these trees - too many hidey spots.

It's rather hard to be subtle at night when the location is the drop off/pickup point for a whole bunch of travellers.
Future searchers - take good note of where the cache attachment point is! Otherwise you will be making this hunt twice, as I did! Also, leave some of the log bag sticking up into the lid, for easy retrieval.

On our last day in Darwin we simply went for a walk: some caches in the morning and some shopping in the afternoon, with pizza in between.

We spent a long time exploring the banyan tree, and we met its habitants, the green ants - Mrs Bear even enjoyed a bush food experience while Mr Bear declined to try. Sadly, we couldn't get our hands on the cache. Too bad, we had prepared our list at home.

Back for 3rd try and still no cache.This is either sneakily hidden or missing .

This is the 3rd time we have walked away with a dnf . Took us long enough to check that we qualified and 20kms each way 3 times such an effort to get another dnf

Found at 3:23:00 PM(t) GAFF3.
We weren't expecting to find anything here based on the previous 2 DNF's from experienced cachers, but we still went in to have a go as p-pprass spent a lot of time compiling the list of cachers which not only do we take notice of who listed the cache (it helps with the modus operandi of the cacher's hiding method ), but we know each and every one of them and most are good friends!
Anyway we head into the area and I go one way and c-pprass the other and literally within 5 seconds she yells out "here they are!" What - you found it already and what is this about "are"???
Well - it's because she found 2 containers - one of those plumbing caps type and the other a bison tube that had just one person's name in it - FROM 2016!!
Well how cool did we feel [^] Took the bison tube to use it as a replacement for any other missing caches in the challenge series. We already used the wire that was attached to it for the next cache that we found that was just sitting in a fork of a branch!

Feedback: Once again the cache size on the cache page is incorrect - neither of the caches were "Small" - they were both "Micro" in size - makes it even tougher to find when there is incorrect information on the cache page.

In preparation for an upcoming trip...

I had qualified for the same type of challenge in Qld, so was pleased to find this one not far from our hotel.
I came here last week and had a look around, wondering like the previous finder, which sign. So I left and contacted both the CO and the previous finder, with both able to give me a bit more info. I decided early on NY’s day would be a good time to have a decent search but as it turned out I didn’t take long at all to find the cache. It was hard to open and when I did, I was surprised to see that I was the first to sign. There is obviously two caches here as the previous finder described a different type of container. Tftc

And a dnf on the previous log had us really worried, as they are seasoned geocachers
But with us qualifying for this one, I wasn’t going to let it beat us
We searched to the right of the ‘sign’
apparently it was the wrong sign
Yes there are two signs to take into consideration, mmm… which sign??

And a huge Happy Dance to put a smiley here was worth the effort - soooo relived to find this little one
I didn’t want to leave Darwin without finding this one

After a great trip around half the country, up the west coast to Darwin via Kunnunura, Katherine, a amazing two weeks in Darwin, out to Jabiru and Litchfield. Down the middle to Alice Springs then on to Millicent for the Geoventure2020 (in 2021).
We then hit the road to cross the WA border before it closed due to a few cases in SA.
Now we are home with a few of the major repairs finished, it is nice to have an opportunity to catch up on logging some finds that need more information as part of the logging requirements.
A huge thank you to all the COs along our travels.

###Cache Owner Action Needed###
This cache has been brought to my attention as likely to be missing.
After a string of successful Finds, it has now had a string of DNFs. I agree that this certainly suggests that something has happened at the cache location which requires investigation by the CO, corunnaroad.

The cache will be disabled and I'll check back in 30 days to see if either

- the CO has checked or rectified the apparent problem
- the CO has communicated in a Note log here, when action will be taken

**If the CO has not taken either of these actions, then we can only assume that the cache has been abandoned and, regrettably, it will be archived.**

The Geocaching Community needs to have a degree of certainty that a cache is out there to be found, and the CO has a responsibility to maintain their caches.

Well I was dissapointed not to come up with the chocolates here today.

It was a long hot walk to GZ.

Then round and round I went.

Third b!b! Banyon tree failure today.
We give up. Even though we easily qualified.
There really isn’t any joy in this!

Disappointingly I have DNF'd this one.
After asking for extra clues from a previous cacher, and attempting several times to find the cache this week as we were staying on the same road, we have slunk away defeated...

It wasn't easy, but as Owl knew she qualified for this challenge she kept looking, and looking, and looking... A container was found. She can't be sure it was the actual cache, but it was hot and sticky and muggly and the container had a scrap of paper attached, so she decided it was the cache.

Nooooo!!! Banyan trees will soon fall from being my favourite trees to my least favourite trees if people keep hiding caches in them! Invested some time in this one and found some wire but no luck on a cache. Sigh.

In port for the day with the Carnival Splendor, K8TYBEE and I thought it the perfect chance to explore the cities history and grab as many caches as possible!

We started the day on an awesome walking tour with the amazing team from Darwin Walking, then set off on our own on foot (and then by patient taxi driver) to see what we could find.

Thanks to everyone who maintains these caches! We had a create first visit to Darwin! Very happy with the 14 logs we signed. Now to spend the next couple of days making sure we have passed the challenges so we can turn those notes into finds! TFTC

Cache replaced.

Found while ClanMagee was in Darwin and staying very close by.. We were _just one off_ meeting the requirement but with permission of the owner, we logged it and met the requirements two days later (letter X - fortunately, I knew an X-user with hides).

When we arrived, we found the cache shredded for a critter, so promptly let the owner know maintenance was needed. I see he has promptly replaced the cache.

Thanks for the hide, this cache is surprisingly challenging! It's hard to determine that you've met the requirements (although I did find a useful checker on project-gc), but then finding caches needed for remaining letters is _really_ tricky.

ClanMagee had been in Darwin for a conference, staying _very_ nearby.

We are _so_ close to satisfying the requirements: I found a checker on project-gc and we need just one more.

Oh well, there's always a next time. Not that we need much of an inventive to visit this awesome town!

Darwin Day 1, Part 2:

After a little break in the hotel to cool off and sleep, I was raring to go for another round of Darwin. This route centred around the caches in the CBD and Waterfront, and was thoroughly enjoyable. The hides in the CBD featured some rather tricky ones, so good fun all around.

This is the specific log for each cache:
Nice little park, horrid tree. Sigh... the ficus tree. Even back home, these guys are feared, so naturally, I knew a fairly protracted hunt will ensue. Even the plaque was hard to find... so, yeah, but the cache was found eventually. TFTC!

No luck in finding this one today. We had to walk away after a short search with muggles in the area.

Found with Moneydork on a short visit to Darwin. Unfortunately all that was left of it was a ziplock bag and logbook that had been pretty well destroyed by rats or insects. We replaced it with a new log sheet and geocache note in a ziplock bag inside a small sistema container, which should all last a while.

Challenge list as attached. Cant believe I don't have a cacher starting with Q!! When we arrived at gz the cache was a quick find as it was quite visible. Not sure if it is meant to be in some sort of container, but all we found was the logbook. We have now placed it in a ziplock bag to protect it from the weather. TFTC and for another good challenge.

On my trip South to Katherine, I had some more of these challenge caches I wanted to tick off, so made a nice early (and dark) start...

I arrived at GZ and my heart sank, oh boy, this could take a while I thought. Luckily, after a brief torch enabled search, I spotted the container and retrieved it for business. That bit sorted, I tucked it back and hit the road.

At long last I can convert this note to a smilie . I posted the note on 4 May. We are in Darwin for a while after attending the Red Centre Experience over Easter. Today I dedicated to finding 9 Mystery caches which I qualify for. Though at one stage I couldn't resist grabbing a traditional as I was only 2 m from GZ. That did unfortunately undo me as I then tried for another which ended up being my only DNF for the day, but I will be back before leaving this area to start heading further east.

All 9 Mystery caches were found - some easily and others not so easily. I added my name to each log either as SG as I often do in small caches to save space or by stamping others.

Thanks to all the COs for placing this series of challenge caches. I am so glad they have already been published as with the change in rules we may never see some of this kind again .

Now visiting Darwin after the Red Centre Experience.

The plan today was to head out for a full day of caching but alas as so often happens we ended up doing jobs this morning and eventually left home, after 10am.

Was a tough day with humidiity and heat, green ants but Mrs Felix was enjoying being out and about after the enforced stay recuperating from surgery. Still we struggled for the cooler part of the day.

We had the sawn service at Adelaide River & then moved camp into Darwin
We thought we would attempt some of the caching in the city area being a public holiday we thought it would be quieter. A nice tiki tour of the city finding a variety of caches.

#7160 - 15:25; Day 22 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune, albida33 and fitzy_1965, so signing logs as A.L.F.S. This is our last day in Darwin before we pack up camp and head for home again, after attending the Red Centre Experience event in Alice Springs. Today we planned to do some more caching in and around Darwin on a warm (read hot) sunny day combined with a bit of sightseeing. A pretty reasonable day to wrap up this part of the trip with 43 finds, but another 7 DNFs which seem to play a bigger part in the game here in the tropics, or perhaps the heat plays up with our cache blindness a bit more? Alice trip 2017. Day 20. Today Sol de Lune, Luckyl10n, Fitzy_1965 and I spent our last day caching around Darwin near East point and the CBD taking advantage of a quiet Sunday. All in all it was a very successful day.

**Albida**

13621. Next find of Day 12 of the Red Centre Experience Roadtrip. In Darwin.

I flew into Alice Springs to meet up with my caching mates Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n (signing mostly as ALFS) to attend the Red Centre Experience and then venture up north to Darwin and then east into Qld before heading south for home - a three week caching trek.

Next stop for the day. Another classic challenge cache. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and it was off to the next cache.
