WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 128 - Katherine Day 1. With another hot day on th cards, I was up and away promptly. I was still not feeling so well, so did not go too far. just three nearby drive by cache today before heading back to the van to rest in the shade. There were plenty of places a cache could be. The GS was all over the place, and in the end I found it 10m from where I was being shown. It is well attached so probably has not moved. Log signed. Thanks for the cache Lumpyjrb48979.3 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Buttermilk Benchmark A#77**Albida**
Took a little longer than it should have to find this one but got there in the end. Thank you.
Big thanks to Lumpyjrb for placing this cache. Cache number 9464 on June 30, 2024
Guided by the promise of adventure, I found myself drawn to the location near the old water valvea place brimming with history and potential for discovery.Despite the disappointment of finding the valve missing upon a previous visit, the determination of Lumyr to create a memorable hide endured. With resilience and creativity, this traditional cache was born, nestled close to the spot where the valve once stood proudly. As I approached the coordinates, anticipation filled the air. The challenge of locating a small bison tube amidst the landscape added an extra layer of excitement to the hunt. With perseverance and a keen eye, I soon uncovered the cache, a testament to the enduring spirit of geocaching enthusiasts. To Lumyr, I extend my gratitude for the effort and dedication poured into placing this cache, ensuring that the geocaching community continues to thrive and celebrate moments of joy and camaraderie.
Katherine Day 2.
We only had a couple of caches to find, some had very rough roads to negotiate.
Hubby spotted a tell tale sign & quickly retrieved the cache.
What a great way to tour the country following the geocaching trail.
Thanks to the CO for placing this cache
On our travels we stopped to get this cache, a nice quick find although we were lucky it wasn’t in its intended spot, thanks for placing it
Travelling with iluvtrekking and after spending twelve days in Darwin are now caching Katherine and surrounds. Quick find here, although sneaky - thanks for the hide.
Travelling with richlink on a trip from Perth to Darwin and returning through the centre to SA and home again. Today, we are exploring Katherine and picking up some caches as we go. Thanks for the tricky cache.
Kids lost the paper trying to retrieve this one but were able to get it through the fence with a stick
After checking in at our hotel in Katherine we had lunch and we’re able to cool down enough to go on a second caching round for the day before grabbing a maccas burger in the carpark for dinner. It’s very hot during the day here and even the 5pm sun had a serious bite to it. We came from pine creek this morning. TFTC
I should have went with my gut instinct on this one and it would have taken a lot less time. Got there in the end. Devious little fox.

Not my day. There was a muggle mowing the grass at the GZ. Will have to come back.
Dont you just hate it when there is a perfect spot for a cache and ther authorities re arrange stuff. Our beach front at home is getting a council funded makeover so we figure if they are using our council rate money then its only fair we place some caches along the foreshore.
We parked on the other side of the road for this one as we were a bit close to the intersection to be chucking U turns. Nice spot here though, plenty of shade and green green grass.
There is a cache we have never done which is on some sort of valve and pipe set up near the airport, we are too scared of either creating a flood or a major gas leak haha.
Thanks Lumpyjrb for the cache. TNLN

Found with The X-Trailers caching around Katherine today. Was tricky for me to reach and get log as am on the short side. Eventually managed.TFTC
We thought this one might not be here today as the previous entry is a DNF. Found it quite easily, and all in good condition. TFTC
Found at 1:09:00 PM(t) GAFF1.
Well that one was nearly "where has my cache gone" as the zip tie was broken and the container nearly fell over the other side of the fence and would have been a job to retrieve!
Thanks Lumpyjrb.

Travelling again with ilook4geo and heading north to pick up some of the caches around the Katherine region. This was one we found after a quick search, the log was signed and all was replaced as found. Thanks go to Lumpyjrb for placing this cache.
Hunting along with goingplaces2 and picking up caches they have not done before. Enjoyed each discovery and adding names to each log where possible. TFTC.
Spending a few days in NT(not nearly enough) soaking up the sun. TFTC Lumpyjrb
After a relaxing morning on a gorge tour, we decided to get some smileys on the way home
This was the first cache found on my second day of caching in Katherine. The coordinates were spot on and the cache was found quickly.
Not in a hurry today, out for a walk so sat for a little while with log in the sun to dry out. TFTC
Making our way to Darwin from Perth and stopping in Katherine for the night! Grabbing some caches along the way. Thank you.
Not an easy find. I had to look hard everywhere.
It almost outfoxed me.

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply driving from Timber Creek (NT) to Litchfield NP.
On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.
Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.
Thanks to 'Lumpyjrb' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Where’s My Valve Gone!' and for the smiley. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.
Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

Easy find. Must have looked strange to the muggles driving by.
No pen. Here’s a pic.
Thanks for the cache.

This was a dnf for me also so I have placed a replacement bison tube where my gps thought I should be. If it's a duplicate and I'm just cache blind happy to remove.
We were standing EXACTLY on top of where x was supposed to mark the spot and there is nothing at all even close. It’s not there or the marker isn’t that close to the cache.
Needed to space the the hunt out on this one to avoid being spotted by passing muggles. Narrowing down the options, I found the container after a brief search and etched my name in the log. All back in place, my job was done so I hit the road.
Cheers Lumpyjrb.
Cheers Lumpyjrb.
As we made our way through the outback finding caches and having a great time
we found a range of caches some day with Team Cracker, Felix II and firesafe on the way home.
Thanks to Lumpyjrb for placing the cache for us to find.

It's a wonder I didn't wear out a valve. Third time and a finer touch had me go BINGO! That is pretty sneaky or mean depending on point of view! TFTC
Still travelling NT after the Red Centre Experience but now moving towards Birdsville in QLD for the Big Red Bash.
Staying a few days in Katherine to attempt 'lots' of the local caches we hope.
Picking up a few urban caches today before we leave. Returning home for lunch Mr Felix headed out for 2 that were on the uhhh maybe not list today.
After lunch Mr Felix headed out on his GeoBike. He searched and searched till he finally found half a cache!!!! Just as the 1/2 cache was in his hand it disappeared!! What the...... He rode home and grabbed a replacement cache before riding back again.

We are staying in Katherine for the night and took the opportunity to grab this cache whilst we are here.
Cache took a couple of minutes to find on a hot Katherine afternoon.

No idea where your valve is gone but the name of the cache let us first look at the wrong place. After a few minutes I decided to believe the GPS tool, went a few meters further - and suddenly I saw the little bison
