TFTC Sadiesmate your cache Pirie West School that we found today. An afternoon caching run after the sun lost a bit of bite. First thing was to rectify a couple of DNFs from yesterday and then a loop back to camp.Find Count: 17565
A few days in Port Pirie with the muggle Mrs exploring the town and seeking out whatever hides I can.
All caches were is good condition unless stated otherwise.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 36. Mid North section of SA trip Day 7. Port Pirie area Day 2. For my second day around Port Pirie I went for a loop down to the south and touched the coast before heading back to town to visit the caches along the southern entry road. It has been nice having some warmer weather on this leg of the trip.
Thanks for the cache Sadiesmate

Woke up to a chilly morning - hoping it’s going to warm up though. Another day exploring Port Pirie and surrounds with iluvtrekking. Thanks Sadiesmate
Another cache found with richlink on our 2022 South Australian Adventure. We are enjoying our time travelling SA. Fantastic towns, ruins, beaches and cliffs. Thanks to all the COs for taking us on a geo-guided tour.

A quick drive by as we make our way around Port Pirie collecting a few smiley faces on our Sunday drive.

Not a brick to be found but the sign is awesome. Took the nerf bullet. Kids loved it.
Did a few caches around this area today and this was one of them. A quick find as there weren't many hiding spots around here. Shame there's no evidence left of this school. Took Nothing, left Nerf Dart (the kids insisted!). Cheers.
Away for a few days with Featherwaite to clear up Kadina to Port Pirie.
We pretty much achieved our target barring a few dnfs.
Another school and another cache.

Found on a trip to Crystal Brook and Port Pirie with Team Waldron for a few days. It rained steadily for the morning but gradually eased by mid afternoon. The aim for the weekend was to find as many caches as possible in the area which we accomplished with damp clothes, soggy shoes and a muddy car! Thanks for the cache Sadiesmate!
Full time nomads since 2014. Still tootling around the country trying to avoid Covid hotspots.
Back in SA for harvest work. Spending 2 weeks in Port Pirie, today we headed further afield and enjoyed the drive amongst all the green crops. Looks like a good harvest up here. [^]

earthlight wanted a drive to Kadina for some geocaching and to place an adv lab there[^] and I sure wasn't saying no
We had a big day starting about 9am I dropped earthlight back at her home about midnight[|)][xx(][|)]
Believe it or not though, we never got to Kadina Port Wakefield got an adv lab instead[^]
On our way home, we had AMAZING fish and chips for tea in Port Pirie at the 'Church of Fish and Chips' run by Spirou Seafood and Salad[:X][^][:X][:X][^][:X] Delicious![:X][^][:X] You know the old 'Port Wakefield for a hamburger' drive[?] I think it's just become a 'Port Pirie for fish and chips drive'[^][^]
Once earthlight was home, Rex and I went to spend another hour or two at Hunting Ryan[?][^]
My total was 34 cache finds and only 2 DNFs so I was happy[^]
Some awesome sights seen[^], great back roads travelled (some more slippery than others especially after rain showers passed overhead) and Rex had a ball running some roads and chasing vermin out of cemeteries[^]
We saw lots of 'old schools or sites'[^], entered tiny townships and learned lots of history[^]
It was great to be out in the country and finding caches with good company[^] and as always, geocaches showed us things we never would have seen otherwise[^][:X][^]
Thank you to all of the CO's who gave us a reason to be out and about[^][:X][^]

We ventured out along the back roads to this one, arrived here and the plants are very overgrown. A quick find was made
After staying in Port Pirie last night, today Davidwazza and I set out to clean up port Pirie before making a long detour via Jamestown to gawler for an evening event. We had a few targets with a 2001 cache near Jamestown to collect and a few others. All up 68 finds for the day.
Thanks for the cache

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a quick overnight trip to Port Pirie. The plan was to geocache around the town, and then head across through to Jamestown via Gladstone and Caltowie in order to find a unique hidden month oldie cache nearby. We then joined the geocaching community at the Gawler dinner event.
Today, we got up early and spent the first half of the day travelling around Port Pirie. A few highlights were the views of the lead smelters, the historic main street, and wetlands. Once a bakery lunch was had, we headed east, and found a few geocaches in Gladstone, Caltowie, and Jamestown. We then left some time to visit Bundaleer Forest Reserve for the 05/2001 hidden cache, as that was my last remaining available South Australian Jasmer grid caches. We then drove the few hours south to the international geocaching dinner Gawler event, before heading home.
The only part of this geocache was walking through the head-high thistles. There was barely a geotrail here even with a finder here a month ago. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Sadiesmate for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Picked up geoson from train. Headed randomly North.
Had a loose plan.
Met Mr Froghoppin along the way - plan changed of course!
Short trip turned into an epic journey with caching along the way
Hard to imagine school out here.
A different world back then.
Found your cache with Sebastbat and Jack.

Out with sir_spectre on our way to the JLWE. But of course you don't just come to an area for an event you also cache the entire way there. We may have wandered off the normal route but the scenery was great.
We may not have got big numbers but we did find some great caches and saw some amazing locations.
Thanks to pinkmundi from mogni

A very quick find while heading to Pirie along the old road.
It was very calm and peaceful out this way today, and it made us enjoy being out and about.
Thanks pinkmundi.

Hi there pinkmundi.
We found your cache **"Pirie West School"** at 10:32:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 16044).
Our trek today took us from Gladstone, through Crystal Brook and on to Merriton following the "next closest" route plotted by the GPS. Then it was through Wandeeran and Lauriston before heading back to Gladstone using the same method.. On our trek we found a variety of container types. We ended up finding 11 caches with 2 DNF's.
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Nice easy find on our way home from Pirie, bird watching and caching as we go Easy find. TFTC.
While staying in Wallaroo we headed towards Port Pirie in the hope of getting an FTF. We were lucky enough to be successful with that and decided to continue caching around the area

KarpyKarpyson and I embarked on a sweep of the Port Pirie region today. 30 caches in total for me. Though we were drawn to this we couldn't feel magnetised and so felt as though we were grounded. TFTC
Found It!
Yet another old and long gone school. Churches and schools - they seem to be the two things they liked building back in the day...
