FFFFFound On the way to DDDDDimboola. One for the journey starting another long weekend early. We were hoping to find a few caches in The Little Desert and attend a 4 events. We found a heap of caches and attended a couple of events. TFTC strange quark1. No TOTT Required (I was built to retrieve this cache).
dalerious and I were back on the road, and this week we were heading to Dimboola and beyond, especially focussing on the Little Desert. We saw this interesting little trad on the map so we stopped by to see if all was well and sign the log.The cache can be accessed without the totts, but that didn't detract from the fun of finding the cache.Thank you strange quark1 for placing and maintaining this cache.
Ive come across a long straggle of caches that I found sometime last year when I was heading north and apparently overlooked logging them This fixes that oversight A quick stop to,add my name here TFTC strange quark

Three day Melbourne Dash.
Day One: Gumeracha to St. Arnaud
Weather: warm!
One last stop before the final push to St. Arnaud. An easy find for me as the cache was sitting high. Replaced to fit with the CO description. Very peaceful here apart from the occasional passing truck.
Thanks for the cache and for getting me to stop here strange quark1.

Well there was an event I saw published in Bordertown hosted by Roaming Howie and since I was able to have 4 days off I decided to head over to attend the event and then to also do a few of the On Ya Bike series to finish off my D/T loop.
Throw a few oldies into the mix for my Ausmer grid and it was going to be a busy weekend with lots of Km’s.
It is usually old school sites that I visit and not to many church sites as they are usually repurposed or sold off for private residences.
Big things are continuing to happen! Are you joining the fun again in 2023?

I love the name of this cache and we giggled over it as we drove towards it. At GZ there was a distinctive gateway and memorial. The cache was found quickly in good condition as we admired the area.
On the trip home via the silos we stopped for this cache.
Thanks Strange Quark1 for the cache, loved the history of the school, a favourite point from us.

This was a nice quick find for us here today. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.
Welcome back from Covid. If there are issues with the cache after the length of time in situ please message me.
Due to a rise in Covid-19 I have made a conscious decision not to undertake cache maintenance as I feel that it doesn’t fit one of the reasons for being out during this pandemic. As I work in Melbourne in an emergency service but live regional I will not be putting myself or my community at risk.
I therefore am disabling all of my physical caches for the time being. The caches them self will be left in situ.
I won’t be deleting logs or anything like that and I intend to enable them again once I feel that my safety or that of my community won’t be put at risk.
I apologise for the inconvenience.

Found staying in St Arnaud for a week to attend the Mega Event, had a great time finding some quality caches around the area, this was one of them. I teamed up with My good Mate Rosstaman and Green Gecko from Brisbane. Having been to St Arnaud three times we were glad of the new publications today, that gave us something to do before heading out far and wide in all different directions to find caches.
Thanks strange quark1 for the cache.

The cache was located quickly in an obvious hide but retrieval was slower, with a few techniques being tried before the cache was in hand. The cache and contents were in god condition. Thanks strange quark1 for the cache.
Still one of my favourite caches that I have put out. I went out and checked this one today and it is still in perfect order.
It was time to be on the move again and get on with the caching effort with ilook4geo. On approaching GZ we noted something out of place and on checking that out the cache was found. Thinner arms and hands were a help here. Cache was extracted, two more names were noted on the log and the container was put back into place. Thanks go to strange quark1 for placing another cache for us to find.
After doing some caching in and around St Arnaud, decided to move further north, along with goingplaces2. Found some fun caches along the way and added both names to each log. All were replaced as found. TFTC.
#16285. Day 3 in St Arnaud for Robmc and me and today it's time to add smilies to the StARS puzzles. We have been joined by The Morris and pprass. As we travelled around the countryside we gathered a few more smiles along the way. An extra 13 caches in fact. As mentioned over the past few days it is so nice to see lush green paddocks and roadsides as we drive the roads less travelled.
Another historic site visited on our travels today. What a lovely looking church it was. Sad that there is nothing left to see. Didn't use any tools but managed to retrieve and sign OK.

Day three at St Arnaud with BettyBoo3747. Today we were joined by The Morris and pprass.
We started the morning with a trip to the Bakery for much need coffee and pastries.
This allowed the temperature to more than double! (from 3 to 7 degrees)
We started the day with the StARS series.
By lunchtime it had hit a scorching 11 degrees, and was a lovely day.
We spent the afternoon doing other caches around the area.
The long slender arm of the BB was all the tool we needed to recover this cache.
The stone diagram made the church look quite interesting.
Thanks, Robmc.

After finishing the STAR series with chooknchunk and wozzle we headed west to gain a few more smilies. As we gained access to the cache we wondered what the old ssstuttering church use to look like back in the day!

After spending last night in a warm cosy motel in town, we joined our good geobuddies wozzle68 and The Tritonz for a leisurely breakfast before heading out to find more caches. This was a nice easy find. We always enjoy being taken to old historical places. TFTC strange quark1.
TFTC. We were on the way to Kaniva to meet chook and chunk for a day of caching in the Little Desert. We left Maryborough this morning heading through Minyip and on to Kaniva to pick up the motorhome. Along the way we stopped along the route to attempt some caches.
We could not find the mentioned tools but with long arms the cache was quickly retrieved.

What happens when you dont read the cache page, injuries. Got to the site and thought hmm how to I get that out. Maybe I vould reach down and get the cache, yes success.. hang on, what fluid is running down my arm, oh.. blood. When you get older your skin gets very thin which is why I wear long sleeve shirts when caching. In this case my arm got tagged by a spikey bit of stump that went through the shirt sleeve without tearing it.

After staying in Horsham for the night and heading back to St Arnuad, via a breakfast event in Donald. Out with Happy pants, grabbing some different hides, that we hadn't already found, as we meandered through some of the back roads. We made some great discoveries, clever hides and generally enjoyed the caches we found, which took us to some interesting places, that I wouldn't probably see if it wasn't for caching.. We enjoyed some fun and laughs along the way.
Found what was needed to make this retrieval easier and soon had log in hand to stamp.
Thanks strange quark1 for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Found on our way past towards home after doing the silos trail. Thanks for the cache, we would never have noticed the sign without it!
On my way home from a mates in Maryborough, i just couldn't go past this roadside hide .
A quick find in a nice hidey spot and the log was signed at 15:30 on Sunday, 15 July, 2018.
Dead set middle of Winter . Surely it can only get warmer from here on in right?

#2847 A beautifully presented cairn to mark the former Church site. No stuttering in locating the cache, found by Mrs BGF in the first spot checked . TFTC quark1, heading west today to Goolwa.
Found at 3:25 PM GAFF1.
Leaving St Arnaud heading west we used a few caches as "sign-posts" and this was one of them. Now we understand the "stuttering" part of the cache name

Clearly I didn't read the description on this one prior as I was confused as to why there was no church.
A quick stop as we are on the home stretch, our last for the day. Phew!
After 4 great days of exploring Adelaide and surrounds, it was time to set off home- a lazy 600km with the geo-kids neisha07 & boo09 in the back.
As we left, the rain was consistent but light so we made sure to nab the cache at the entrance to our caravan park that we had not yet had time to do, also ensuring we had at least 1 SA cache to help with our 2 states in a day challenge that had been signed last year but not yet qualified for.
A quick find was made while muggle Dad checked us out and off we went.
It rained heavily for the next 2 hours with only small spurts of decent weather to stop off. As we headed closer to home the weather began to behave much more and we made it home about 4.30pm, just in time for the kids Little Aths that evening!
A great trip away that went far too quick. We will back to explore more of Adelaide and surrounds sometime soon hopefully! TFTC!

On my road trip home I found this cache. Good to stop and stretch the legs. Thanks for this cache.
Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks strange quark1 (F=2686 H=69) for the cache.

We left St Arnaud relatively early by our standards to get to the Comfort Stop event so we weren't going to drive passed this one as it was right on our way. The cache was located quickly and as we were signing the log Feathertop and Goodlook pulled in while Feathertop signed her name as well. At Least now we knew that we weren't going to be late for the event as we were now travelling with them.
It does seem like a strange location for a church but we guess there must have been more people working the lad when it was in operation.

A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.
8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.
It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.
On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.
Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.
A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.

Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) , mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on , realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got too close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]

Would have been a nice spot back in its day, found cache signed the log returned it to hiding place thanks for cache.
Haven't had a caching run for a while now. Thought on this cold old day we'd go pick up a few near us. Ok, feel a bit silly because I haven't looked at the geocache map in quite a while and thought "Wouldn't this be a great place for a cache" each time I've driven past. Indeed it is, as StrangeQuark1 has put one here! So without checking, I pull up, decide to have a quick survey, find a great place, only to discover a cache there already! It's at this point, I decide to open the map DOH! Had a decent laugh at myself. Logged cache and giggled at myself all the way home.
Ohhh, I didnt see that there was a tool to assist with extracting the cache so i used my arm....got a few scratches, but no blood, so all good
A lovely location and nice spot to stop today whilst continuing to explore areas on the way from the St Arnaud CITO and then back home to Adelaide. It was a big day starting at 8am and I got home around midnight.
We said goodbye to muff1 in the morning and then Locus Cache, CPwanderer and I had fun driving and caching. During this trip I even learnt how to lock and unlock the hubs on Harry the 4WD - you gotta love learning something new!
The main aim of our roadtrip from Adelaide to St Arnaud was to complete the Bush Meander series, attend the CITO event and obtain the special souvenir (as amazingly not 1 CITO had been arranged in SA). Locus Cache and I collected CPwanderer, then spontaneously en route Ms muff1 asked to join in on our trip from Kaniva...lol...and of course the answer was yes! The other half of muff1 then joined us for dinner on Saturday night and we went our separate ways on Sunday. We loved all of the caching we did and had such a fun time filled with crazy happenings and lots of laughter. Woo Hoo...bring on the next roadtrip
Thanks for the cache

It seemed that no one in SA had put on a CITO for the souvenir this year
GoodLook really wanted that pretty shiny thing and so CPwanderer joined us for a road trip to St Arnaud
We had heaps of fun with Harry exploring the bush tracks and giving CP a few heart attacks
Sadly, today is head for home day so less caches were found. One CITO event attended, 18 caches found and my last cache attempt for the day was a bloody DNF on a 1* D/T small sized cache
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
It took a while to explain to CP why this was the stuttering church
A quick find but because we hadn't read the whole description we used an extraction method that wasn't intended however it worked and the log was signed

This was one of the great caches found on a weekend trip to St Arnaud with locus cache, GoodLook and muff1! It was great to return to this area because of the quality hides and lovely surrounds. While our main targets were the Bush Meander series and the CITO event we collected many more in and around the town!!
Heading for Horsham but we ended up on the wrong road ,,,,, It did mean we could grab this cache. Interesting spot!!! Love the engraved image on the monument!!

Approaching this one hubby said it'll be at the church - and he was right. Ok well there is no church anymore (and no toilets down the back either which he remembers) but we found a cache so that was the main thing! Thanks for the cache
Easter long weekend meant a camping trip to NSW. We decided to head off on the Thursday night so hubby could revisit his holiday camp site at nearby Batyo Catyo. Looks a bit sad now but we still enjoyed exploring it (I've even skied on it way back when there was water). So after a few quick caches and a look around we headed to Walkers instead and camped under the beautiful stars
