Stoped by to do maintenence on this one. Unfortunately, 1) the cache hidey spot is now a mud pit; I had to dig the cache out of it, and, 2) many markers are missing, as the environment is unkind to them here. WIth infrequent visits now, relative to maintenence requirements, I am reluctantly archiving. Final has been removed. It may be recycled in the future. Cheers to everyone who visited!

That was a great cache - rest in peace awesome cache

I had solved the starting point for this one a few years ago, but had never had the chance to grab it. I had walked through this reserve in the daylight before to grab another cache and had spotted some of what we needed before, so knew what direction we needed to start checking before we got there. We headed in and we soon spotted what we needed. At one point we did over shoot, but ended up back where we last knew we were on track and headed off again. At this point I heard a what is that!? And we knew we were at GZ. It wasn't long after that before we had the cache in hand. There might be a few tacs missing and the ones at GZ are definitely damaged. TFTC #1757

Decoding the message is quite time consuming, but with some persistence and help got the message figured out. This had us at the right location and time to flounder around looking for this cache. it's a really cool idea and was a big challenge and had SmallPooka and I thinking we had lost it or gone too far a number of times.. At almost the point of giving up, we discovered the key locator in slight disrepair. Excitedly making our way towards it, we discovered the cache and managed to sign the log. This cache does need some maintenance to make it easier for others as it appears that many of the things one must look for in the bush are missing. The location is rather nice, especially if heading to grab another cache or two at the same time.

Needed a lot of help from a previous finder to find my wayCache in good order

Headed here with my head torch in hand but could not find a single night marker Sad

I've been wanting to do this one for a while - since I solved the first part in April this year - but was always kind of put off... caching at night on my own... maybe not such a good idea. But a challenge I'm doing at the moment gave me extra motivation to finally come here, so on a chilly midwinter evening I met up with tramyard at the start coords and we ventured forth into the (k)night. The first star was located easily, but after that we lost the trail and spent a while wandering around before I contacted a helpful fellow knight (previous finder) who got us back on the right track (figuratively and literally). From there we found a few more stars to guide us on our way to the final, where a very nice end to our adventure was waiting. All good with the final, I liked the in-theme swag (which we left in there), and soon our names were on the log - still the original, yay!

Giving this a favourite point since it's my first ever night cache, and despite the initial challenge, it was a lot of fun following the trail by torchlight, with an excellent final to top it off. Thank you to tramyard for agreeing to come on this adventure, to our helpful guide for the useful hints, and to Sir Lostcourse for setting this up SmileSmile

Team work with lumin298. Basically everything is in the log below. We will be lost on our course without help from previous Finder , so many thanks for that.
Final is in good shape despite of missing night markers (or not visible).
Thanks for setting it up!

I was over at Riddell Rd, meeting up with a workmate, picking up some house plans for a job, when I decided to [pick up a few caches while passing by.

I made this the last for the day, no problem finding the cache, bit of an oldie this one. I had to be careful getting to it with my arthritic knee though, not as nimble as I used to be.

Thanks LC for the cache, it\s been a long time coming around to getting it.

Starting solving this one at home this morning since I Knew I would be in the area today.

Easy solve, but uh oh!! I didn’t realize it was a night cache!

I’m it too fond of night cache and this one is a bit far from where I live, but I had already started the solve...

It’s a bit overcast today and in the forest so I grabbed my super powered torch and headed off.

Yes, I can follow the trail!

I arrived the final GZ and actually saw the hint referred place before I saw the actual marker!

Cool! Been over a year since last find, but all good here!

Thanks for the puzzle and cache!

Hard to believe that it's nearly three years since we solved and last tried to find this cache. At that time we ran the gauntlet of the angry, barking dog. This time, I purely coincidentally ran across alunb as he came to get some caches.

We got a few other caches while we waited for it to get dark enough to look for a night cache but soon enough we had a go. Last time I tried this one I got stuck very early but this time spotted the way to go and actually didn't have too many troubles picking our way along the path spotting the way to go. Eventually overshot the final and after a while of not spotting any sign of the trail, backtracked to the last spot we were confident of and then saw the telltale sign of the final.

Made our way the short way to the final and was delighted to find the great final. Nice work on the theming of the container. This was an excellent cache with the puzzle and then the fun finding our way to the final cache. Well worth doing and I'm glad to have come back to get it.

Out for an afternoon of caching, and decided to come through this area seeing a couple of recent caches near here as well. I had solved this a few months ago, and it has been on my list to do so it was good timing later in the day to also have a crack at this. As luck would have it I also bumped into Tuolei and his friendly geodog Albert, who happened to have the same idea, so we wandered around collecting some other trads, saving this until it was a bit later in the day. Tuolei knew just what was required here, and we made short work of following the trail and soon found where we needed to be. After rechecking the instructions, a likely place was spotted and the cache was found. A neat idea for a puzzle and a cache find, gets a FP from me, cheers

We found ourselves without child for the second time this year, so decided to set forth and attempt to complete the quest that had beaten us a few months ago. We prepared ourselves for the venture both with light wands and fortitude, and applying a generous amount of mini dragon repellent. After making our way past the barking guardians of the path (sorry neighbours!), our hearts were obviously judged as pure, as the stars shone brightly this time around lighting our way down the correct path and assisting greatly with locating the final resting place of the Knights Treasure.

Our thanks to the overseer for the sharing of the stardust, it was much more enjoyable knowing we were heading the right way, and always nice to chase away the blues!

It's always good to have a puzzle wizard up your sleeve. Or in your pocket. Unless of course they're too big for either those. In which case living with them works well too. Nicnacnz had deciphered this puzzle months ago. But our first attempt was not long after the second 'once in every 10 years' storms for the month. So with debris everywhere and several trees now having naps we spent a good hour in the dark with paths disappearing on us. Now the early bird may catch the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. So our second attempt was much more enjoyable and successful. If only we'd taken coconut shells to make horse noises with us it would have been a true knights tale. TFTC

Well tonight was the night. FIND 5000!!!!!!

Mrs NZT had previously solved the puzzle however noted that there were a few DNFs so contacted the CO to see if he would check the final for our 5000th attempt. He came back stating that all was in order.

On the night however we were still 4998. Conveniently there was a traditional cache close by so we claimed that one to get us to 4999 to give us the clear run for this final.

It was a BEAUTIFUL night considering the recent weather and although we were expecting a slippery attempt the terrain was very easy going.

We overshot the final and Mrs NZTs instinct kicked in saying we should go back and try to repick up the trail. Mr NZT did wander on for a couple more minutes and had to concede that Mrs NZT might just be correct. Trying to catch back up to Mrs NZT she yelled out FOUND IT.

I approached and she had indeed found a significant cluster that were not glow worms!

A short search ensued and Mrs NZT made the final real find. We signed the log and rehid the cache before wandering back to our car.

On the way back with very minimal torchlight we managed to see quiet a few real glow worms and not the initial trail marker glow ones we had found one the way in.

An awesome cache to achieve our 5000th mark.

Thanks Lostcourse for doing a check on the cache before our attempt it was really appreciated.

Favourite point awarded.

OK 10,000 is the next milestone!!!

Stopped by and checked on the final. Still there but a bit wet, so I dried it out and gave it a clean up. I also detected a waning in the power of the white magic, so applied some additional stardust to help guide all those of pure heart.

I was walking the dog today in daylight and located the final. I'd always been meaning to come back and locate the log, but no such luck. I searched around for a bit but couldn't find it. I'm fairly certain where I was is the final because it obviously fits the clue, but I can't locate the log.

Alas, whilst we solved thy puzzle with ease and located the start of the mighty adventure, and set out on a rare night when we found ourselves without child. Sadly one of our trusty lightsabers became less trusty, which made us a little wary of the challenges we may face, however we continued with our remaining lightsabre, and continued on the quest. Our initial path was right, and while we did see some lovely glow bugs, we were forced to turn back due to some downed trees across the path. It turned out that right was wrong, and choosing the path of less resistance worked as we soon sighted our guiding beacon. This alas was one of very few that we were shown, and after following a small amount of beacons, we appeared to have lost favour at a fork in the road, and there was no indication on the correct direction of travel. 100 paces in each possible direction did not enlighten us and we chose to abandon all hope for now.

We shall return to this mighty quest at a later date, but suggest that perhaps the owner of this quest may wish to check whether the required directional stars are still visible after the storms and the considerable amount of downed foliage.

Woow, what an adventure to find this one. I wanted to show my parents what is a night cache and how much fun to find one. The starting was all good until the track started to become narrow and slippery. MY mom started freaking out when the deep slopes started on one side of the track. But both my girls where carrying on strong. With some missing tacks, the journey became even more harder, not sure if we passed the final or not. PAF, was a good option and that proved that, we have to turn back. we walked all the way back to the final tack which we saw, and then again back to the final.. Phewww.. few walks up and down.. but yes, found it all good here. thank you very much for the adventure. I know its hard o maintain such caches, but it will be great if you can give a look at the tacks, when you have time. Cheers Shawn..!!

Fun little cache in the dark with 3 other sachets.

22-Apr-17
I solved the puzzle a long time ago and then tried to find the final in the daylight without any success. Today, I joined forces with Bennett24 and Nakored after dark to make the trek to get this one. Besides the cache, we also found several glowworms along the trail.
I think we all agreed that some TLC is in order for this one as there some items seem to be missing. TFTC.

Team BOP ( myself Philip.Perry and TNXPRO ) have a few solved puzzles in Auckland so planned a trip to Auckland to collect the puzzles. This took us a while to find as some of the tacks were very hard to find during the day but we were in the area and after doing a 4 am finish yesterday we had no time to do this one as we desperately needed sleep.

With a bag full of solved puzzles around Auckland, I teamed up once again with Davidson clan and Philip.Perry. Team BOP were reunited once again to gather as many solved puzzles as we had time to find in the two days we had allocated.

Its has taken me a few weeks to get my head into logging these and my memory is fading, so am relying on a combo of field-notes and the other logs from Team BOP...

I hadnt had a chance to solve all the puzzles on our list, but this I had solved on 13/3/16 while recovering from knee surgery.

Thanks for putting out the puzzle and thanks for bringing me here.
TFTC.

Team BOP have descended upon Auckland with a pocket full of solved puzzles. There was no knight to greet us here to-DAY but we thought we'd crack on anyway. Very tricky and we realized very early on this was going to be far more difficult then if we'd just tackled it last night... Would have been more fun too. But after a miss start we were soon on track and the hint came in handy when reaching gz for the final. We actually found the cache before the final markers! Smile Cheers Lostcourse, TFTC.

As my loyal companion Sir liketips pointed out, even though thou art clever at translations, thou art not so clever at reading thy details and soeth we found ourselves nobley heading on our adventure with more daylight than was required in our armoury.

Not to worry though as we were gallant enough to continue onwards (and couldn't be bothered coming back at night) as we found ourselves guided by an unseen hand towards thy treasure. Then we had to backtrack as our unseen hand switched off for a bit there.

We soon found what we were after though and continued to plunder our way in hopes of finding our original starting point. Next time we'll just go back the way we came in... Good fun though all round, and happy to have knocked this one off - TFTC

Set off with the lofty Sir evilno9, decoded clue in hand (so to speak). Though undoubtedly brave, we were hardly the wisest of adventurers, riding forth beneath the blazing sun (or the harsh grey, depending on when you happened to look up).Fortune favoured us, however, for despite the lack of night, and a much longer adventure than we would have otherwise endured, we eventually found the hallowed treasure. Returning to our noble steed was even more treacherous - we should have just turned around and gone back the way we came. TFTC

Had solved this one some time ago, and knew that Aiden29 had also completed this puzzle. So teamed up tonight to claim this and also the Haunted Souvenir up for grabs this weekend. Had to drive across town and to the most obvious route. Only to discover a main road to the area was closed for road works. And so began a very long , did I say very loooooonnnggg, detour around just to get to the start site a couple of km's away. Met up with our team mate and began the trip. Fortunately we got there just on dusk and quickly had the necessary observations in sight. A significant way down the track we decided that we must have missed something as we had not seen a marker in quite some time. Doubled back and finally discovered what we had been looking for which was obscured from view by some offending foliage. Found GZ and the cache. Great cache hide and Knights cache. On the return journey we had just sufficient light without our torches to be able to see the track and so were able to marvel at the glow worms in the embankment along the creek bed. It was like witnessing a small series of city's and villages at night. A great intrepid adventure and Knights tale. A favorite from us.

This was solved quite awhile back, when I was bed bound for a week. With the Haunted Souvenir for Halloween Jag50 suggested that we find this cache. I was not only keen to get the smiley for this finally, but I had also heard that there were glowworms to be seen.

As Jag50 mentioned we did end up going much further than we had to, but we managed to find the final tacks by sheer fluke. The cache is well hidden, and I really enjoyed this puzzle and adventure. FP from me.

Early one morning a few days after the Winter Solstice, a brave knight, Sir Chrishopenz, ventured forth to follow the quest he had deciphered from an ancient parchment some months before. Armed with his sword of light (headlamp) and dressed in black armour (beanie, polyprop and gloves), he mounted his trusty steed (trail running shoes) and set forth on this bold quest.

There was a fork in the path early on and he carefully ventured one way and then the other before being sure of his course. Another fork, and more looking around was required to keep on the true path. Before long, he realised he had gone too far and lost the way of the light, so backtracked and soon found his final destination, where he gave thanks to the gods by offering up a gem of favour in thanks for this truly great quest.

On a side note, the brave Sir Knight wonders if the book of logs may have gone missing, for he was not able to find it and apply his great seal.

#62 & mystery #2

Edit: re-reading through the previous log entries, I would be surprised if the cache is missing so I'll have to go back in the daylight (now I know where it is) and see if I can locate it to sign it. I run through this particular place a lot, so plenty of opportunity to go back again.

Great find, quite an adventure to backtrack like all previous caches, and then thankfully Bennet24 remembered the rest of the clue.
Great cache.

We were out for an adventure and were not disappointed! We disturbed the beasts guarding the trail but managed to slip past and find the first star to follow. The night forest was alive with beauty untold and we spent much time in admiration. We made our way along the edge of the precipice in slippery mud only to find we'd lost our path. Alas, along the way one of our party was attacked and felled by a jousting tree. A strong heart, she continued the quest bravely (although slightly injured). After returning from whence we came we again spotted the stars and followed with more vigilance. Rejoice and merriment ensued as the celestial cross was spotted and the treasure uncovered. Many thanks for the quest, we will sing it's praises far and wide (and give it a much deserved favourite point)!

I solved the very long translation of the secret code several weeks ago, and this evening seemed like it would be a great opportunity to take my daughter out on a night cache. So after she played her hockey games for the evening we grabbed a bite (she is generally famished after her games) and made our way from Mt. Wellington to the jumping off point. Armed with our trusty Maglite(sabers) we descended into the bush. We went in and kept going, and going, and then we apparently had gone about 100m too far. So we started backtracking until we found the last star, but managed to spot our destination first. The cache was a quick find for my daughter and then off we went. On the way back we stopped to admire the glow worms to the right of the stairs. The path to follow was surprisingly long, but very fun. As a bonus we also spotted an eel and some fish in the stream while we were walking. Thanks for the (K)night cache...it earns a favorite from me! TFTC&P! #947

Foolishly lost the piece of paper I had the instructions written on and only had the coordinates in the app to rely on which proved insufficient on this trip. Picked up the trail at the start but very quickly lost it. Equally foolishly decided to take our dog but the dogs at the start of the trail went ballistic badly shaking our dog, so we decided to cut our losses and go. Saw some glowworms though so that was nice.

This is such a clever cache. Took to us 3 attempts to find it. When we finally cottoned onto the "trail of bread crumbs", could have kicked our selves! Loads of fun though!

Cracked the code a few weeks ago but was waiting for a fellow geocacher to attempt this with me, as this is my first mystery and night cache. Thankfully my mum tipsytrout arrived to stay tonight and off we went to see if we could find it. Perfect night for this adventure, totally did not expect this walk to be as it was -fantastic and even heard a morepork on the way. Loved the glow worms, what a cool cache! Can't wait until my kids are a bit older, they would love this! Tftc Wink watch out for the guard dog at the start/end of walk!!!

Needed a decent size bit of paper to work this out, but it all fell into place. Out tonight with a good size group, and a wide age span. Many eyes on the job were a help.
Super Nanny made the vital find, or we might be out there still. A favourite. Tftc .

A group of us had this solved and decided to beat daylight saving so 7 cachers, 1 muggle, 2 dogs and 2 grandchildren set out on the quest to claim the cache. The rain held off. The track was a bit slippery in places but we conquered. Thanks to merlot58, pazzabella and partner, ric1942, suppernanny, rebel98 and rustynz for making this quest fun.

The puzzle was solved months ago, when one night I curled up on the couch, next to the heater until late in the night! due to overseas travels of one of our group, we waited for their return, deciding to find the cache before day light saving starts.

With our light sabres our group of 8 adults (7 cachers), 2 children and 2 dogs made our way in the darkness, to find the Knight's cache. Thankfully the rain stayed away, only a few light sprinkles at the beginning. The track was a little narrow and muddy in places, but we were on an adventure, and when has a bit of mud stopped us finding a cache.

The little ones missed the final clue, which meant some back tracking for them, but pazzabella soon had the cache in hand, the treasure was plundered, and the log book signed. Love the cache container!

On our way back to the cars, we found time to stop and look at the glow worms hidden along the trail Big Grin

Fun puzzle and cool hide, thanks for the cache and the adventure.

I had to cut short my Geocachers Anonymous meeting to do a quick solve the night before an order was formed. As membership grew, a crusade was planned by UrbanGypsy. The gods must have favored this by holding off the rain and naturally lighting our way with glowworms. Tftnightc.

Urbangypsy put me on to the puzzle and with a bit of googling I found what it took to solve and joined in with the group to take the muddy trail to this, my first night cache. I must come back to this park during the day. I loved the appropriately themed cache. I'm disappointed I missed seeing the glow worms on the way back, I wondered why it took the rest of the group so long to catch up to us! TFTC and puzzle.

Luckily I got away from work in time to meet up with my compatriots....
Was fun using my new torch to spot the dots..
The walk was much further than I imagined.. .So cool to see the awesome cache contents !
Home now to wash muddy shoes! Thanks Lostcourse !

As I am working my way through the requirements for the DGSc Challenge the need to hit specific mission targets continues and tonight's little challenge it to gather a few more night caches to get me closer to finishing that particular elective.
Tonight I was in the company of iammrwalker, we drove up following work for a bit of fun, although did not know quite how much fun it would be after the recent weather. We were fortunate that the heavy rain held off and while there was the occasional shower passed by we stayed warmer and dryer than expected.
Signed log as "IAMCAT"

This was our final night cache of the evening and as such were a little unsure how we would progress in the rain. The ground was waterlogged underfoot, the clay paths were slippery, but the "stars" were not the brightest but with keen eye adn a trusty heart we ventured upon the Quest.
Solved the first part earlier in the week, and made our tourtours path forward beeting of the demons, vandels and vagabonds. Passed a snake to our left which ensured that we kept well back, and while at times the path was sparse the force was strong to continue upon the quest that we had set ourselves. Thanks for asssiting me in completing one of the endorsements for the above challenge. This was the twenty fifth of 25 caches located successfully tonight without a single DNF. The twenty fifth cache of the evening was brilliant, just brilliant and a great way to end the evening

So again thank you for the FUN of the hunt

I was fortunate enough to have Cats&Dragons invite me to join him on a trip up to Auckland after work for some night caching. We left Hamilton at about a quarter to six and snuck into bed at about 3am having met all the evenings’ goals. During the night we discussed the state of the nation, the meaning of life, and had we stayed out latter I dare say would have solved the issue of world hunger, discovered a freely available cure for cancer and solved categorically who was responsible for JFK’s assassination. Maybe next time. It rained for most of the evening to various degrees and most areas we visited were pretty sodden but we didn’t let that get in the way of us having a good time. A big thanks to all the cache owners for taking the time and effort to place and maintain all the great caches we visited. We signed the log IamCAT a combination of our two Geocaching names.

This was the final cache of the night. The rain was pretty constant and the ground was slippery and in one spot the path was even a little washed out. It would be safe to say the Terrain was easily a 3.5 tonight. My trusty companion and I donned our 'armor' (raincoats) wielded our weapons (torches) and trotted down a path into the unknown in search of a long lost treasure. We actually missed the final and had to double back for it, clambered up the bank and were pretty chuffed to finish our 'mission' without any DNF's and on such a high. Really nice puzzle, fun trek and then a quality container to finish. Gets a fav from me.

Couldn't make the group expedition last week, but dragged the grandparents along with us tonight to do it. I'd seen something similar to this cipher a while back so I tracked it down and decoded it short order.

Not long after walking down the track, we turned right instead of left and came across glow worms on the edge of the track! So cool to see in an urban environment. It was magical and we stood and gazed at them with our torches off for quite a while. Getting back to the caching mission we discovered that despite some heavy rain in the last couple of days the track wasn't as muddy as we were expecting [:-)]

The kids had a great time stalking through the bush, shining their torches around looking for the clues, hooting like owls when a new one was found. Soon got to the end point and made the fantastic discovery of an awesome cache.

Thanks for the puzzle and an awesome experience we won't forget in a hurry Smile Definitely a + fav from us!

Found with my Mum, NewlynFam. Have now created my own account so am logging all finds I was present at and helped with.
My first night cache.... Mum solved it, and I went along for the fun of finding the final cache, and following the tacks! We had a great time, and I thought the cache container was very cool!

Heard some talk about a trip to find this cache and decided to finally knuckle down and solve it so I could join in. It actually didn't take very long after all as I managed to find the right information almost immediately which was great!

We met up close to the starting point and off we went. The trail was quite muddy and slippy in places but we managed to get through it with no incidents or accidents. It felt like we had walked for a long while when @McArgister pointed out what we were needing to find and the cache was soon in hand.

Loved the walk and loved the effort that has clearly gone into the cache so a favourite point from me.

Thanks for the fun adventure!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Was looking on project-gc at what NZ's top rated caches by fav point percentage were and this was high up the list. Set to solving it when I should really have been working and after numerous googles getting closer and closer I found the key to the code. Not long after that the adventure was clearly laid out and I knew I had to do this one soon.

I'm often invited on caching expeditions by a group of fellow enthusiasts but I'm rarely able to join them, so to prevent being cut off, decided to plan my own trip, that way I knew I could make it. Got the thumbs up from a few others and we were on. The adventure was truly memorable. A real team effort by adults and kids. I was holding up the rear of our troop when I happened to glance in the right direction to find what everyone else had passed and we sent the more agile knights-in-training up to retrieve.

Of course it's going to get a fav point, but I need to save up for it. Thanks for the great knight-cache!

A group of caching buddies and I had discussed this cache a few weeks ago, as a possibility when we were out on one of our night caching raids (as we have been enjoying a few of those lately!) So, very enthusiastically, I decided that I would set about solving it.
Being a relative newbie to puzzles, I was a little daunted when I looked at the cache page, but I realised that I was going to have to find a way of solving the code. I spent a fair bit of time hunting around, trying a few different possible things, then I stumbled on something that looked similar, and with a fresh burst of inspiration I was able to find the correct way of solving this puzzle. I agree with a previous logger who said something along the lines of a few of the letters getting mixed up though... however, it was always the same letters so it was pretty easy to figure out how to adjust this correctly!
Set out tonight with some of the usual suspects, with the mission being to retrieve this cache- yay, I had been super keen since solving it!!! Had mini NewlynFam with me, who had never done a night cache and was pretty keen at the idea.
With plenty of torch power, it was reasonably easy to pick out our path, although we did miss a marker or two and had to stop and have a bit of a search! In some places the path was a bit narrow and slippery too, and I kept glancing to my right (or left, on the way back!), wondering how soon it would be that I ended up inadvertently going for a swim, as I seem to be earning a bit of a reputation with the group as being a bit accident-prone (can't for the life of me think why???) Wink
We almost overshot GZ, but luckily @McArgister was bringing up the rear, and just happened to swing his torch to the side, and pick up what we all had missed- ah yes, that's what we were looking for! We sent some of the eager beavers in for the retrieval, and the log was signed (did we sign it as Team Blue Moon in honour of the full moon, and last night's blue moon at this point or not? I can't remember!) and returned with a sense of accomplishment! Great cache, too.... the juniors thought it was awesome. Now the next challenge.... to return several adults and kids safely to the rendezvous point! Big Grin

Thanks for all the effort gone to here Lostcourse... This was a truly awesome cache, and a great adventure. Really enjoyed it, and it gets a fave point from me!

We first became aware of this cache after a facebook message asking who wanted to join a mission to find it. Had a quick look, couldn't immediately find the correct cipher but after a post on another facebook link made a cryptic hint to the home of the cipher, it was soon found and the code was cracked. A team mission was planned on a fine Saturday night and we headed out in a group of 8 armed with our light sabres in case we encountered any knights. After a relatively uneventful trek in, we had pretty much all past the final cache location when @mcargister swung his light sabre in the correct direction and made the find. We sent a few of the mini-cachers up to make the collection of the cache container with help from Mr HeMaLuDy. Love the work that has gone into the creation of the cache container. A bit of fun when Mr HeMaLuDy attempted to return the cache and had a few false starts trying to get back up the slope. Lucky Mrs HeMaLuDy hadn't looked to the right earlier and seen how close the hazard was or the trip may have been a whole lot slower. Found with darthcacher1, purply, keylev, newlynfam, @mcargister. Favourite point given for the puzzle, the cache container and the wander through the bush in the dark in an area of the city not previously visited by our team.

When I first looked at this one I tried working out the cypher but put it aside after a while. Looking for something else I then came across the information I needed and solved it. Fist pump here. That was over a year ago and then disappointment as we were never in the right area at the right time of day. Yesterday we had to go to the airport late to pick up one of our daughters so we took the opportunity to try and find this cache. What an awesome cache it turned out to be! Did overshoot GZ without realising for a while and in retropsect not sure why, but all part of the fun. Took our geopuppy with us and she was 'crying' a bit on the way in - we've not walked her in the dark so maybe she was a bit spooked out? A good experience all round. Thanks heaps Lostcourse for the cool puzzle and cache - a definite FP from me and recommending to other cachers I know who live closer.

Solved this one back in summer and only just got around to picking it up last weekend with beconaze. I didn't quite wear the right type of shoes for walking in the mud, luckily it washes off! This is definitely worth a favourite point - solving the puzzle was a good challenge and finding the cache was a great adventure. We had to double once when we lost the stars but were soon back on the right track. Thanks so much for this one.

Finally finally we found this one after solving months ago. First time around to GZ soon after solving it we were too keen and didn't realise it was a night time cache. Turned up at GZ and stood around scratching our heads walking for ages trying to find a clue before giving up. It was only once at home that we realised we had been going about it all wrong so finally we returned with Onawe and went off on a quest to find the celestial cross.

Great puzzle, great journey to find the cache, and great cache itself. Gets a fav point from us. Thanks

I remember solving this one right after publication and tonight while caching in the area i had a thought - why don't i go and sort this one out...

As this was just a spur of the moment decision, i came totally unprepared. My headlamp was at home and i thought id be right with the light on my phone, worst move ever..! But, i was committed now and i wasn't that keen on turning back so i kept trudging on, following the bread crumb trail.

Called the CO a couple of times as my beam was very dim. But, eventually i spotted what i was looking for and after quite some time searching the cache was uncovered. Very stoked to sort this one out one i won't forget in a hurry!

Thanks Lostcourse for a very well laid and awesomely themed puzzle and cache and totally deserving of a favourite point. Dropped a geocoin into the cache before leaving, TFTPC! Big GrinBig Grin

Solved part one ages ago. Wanting to kick the year off by earning this yellow smiley face, sent out a "shall we team up" request to TF and TW to conquer this Knight cache. Both were keen, just had to nail down a date when we were all in town on the same night.

Parked up and waited for the skies to darken before setting off. I had bought a new tool (one this strong was not in my toolkit) and it ended up being a huge success Smile. By-passed the guard dogs and then plunged into dark depths. Perfect weather conditions tonight (very warm), along with a dry track, drip-free trees and few mosquitoes.

Followed the trail along before finding what we were after. So pleased we had chosen this time of year as GZ was a little tricky even when it was dry! Checked a few "spidery" spots before TF comes up with the Knight's Cache.

A very enjoyable puzzle and night cache - gets a favourite. And a great cache to team up for.

TFTPC.

This was a real team effort, avoyager and Trout-fly had also solved the puzzle so tonight was the night to tackle the knight's cache. Avoyager had a killer torch and what we were looking for along the way was soon located. Once we had reached our destination we sussed out the probably hiding place and volunteered TF to take one for the team as although it was dry it was still a bit loose under foot. Great cache, great company and a fun time. Fav from us.

I had solved this ages ago and put it into the "I must do this sometime" pile. Got the call from TW and Av asking if i was keen for a bit of night caching. Now, I have a great torch so of course i said yes. Hmmm, Av's torch was brighter. Am I suffering from an obvious case of torch envy? Down into the darkness and the followed the trail . The path was great, the mosquitos were having an event elsewhere and wandered along on our quest. Soon arrived at GZ and spotted the rather LARGE spider web. Luckily we didnt spot the web builder and made the find. Ive found a number of these types of caches and this certainly deserves a fav as its well laid out and well marked. Thanks.

Solved the puzzle as we were staying close to the original coordinates. Thought we could take it on a morning walk. Soon found out that we couldn't. After correcting some errors we were clear over what to do and ventured out at 10:30 pm.
Wow! First guardians barked at us, rather loudly. When we got a bit further next guardians showed us their light sabres (as from Sweden we found this quite amazing). These little creatures followed us along the way. As the previous cachers, we ventured too far and had to go back a bit before we eventually found the right spot. The actual cache was hidden behind a big, beautiful spider web that we tried not to destroy. The cache itself was nicely done inside the box - somebody had put some work also in that.
Really liked this little adventure. FP from us for this.

On a quest of my own to find 10 night caches so I can complete the NZ Nightcaching Challenge cache very close to my home in Wellington. Having exhausted the (active) Wellington night caches I've managed to knock off two in Christchurch, and four in the last week (one in Taupo and two in Auckland) on my annual trip north to visit the whanau.

Very pleased to have hit number 10 with this cache, so I can complete the challenge upon my return home.

After some googling I managed to locate a site that helped me decipher the code, and I set off to an area I hadn't been before. I encountered several dangerous beasts during my quest: two grumpy guard dogs close to the start, a terrifyingly large black arachnid guarding the cache itself, and then a wandering hedgehog I met on the way back to the car that scared me half to death. The path itself was both interesting and unexpected.

Thank you for bringing me here, and for the adventure! A well deserved favourite. TFTC

Out to find a few night caches with Vamber to assist with our GIO licence.

Puzzle solve was relatively straightforward and well themed.

The cache find was a lot of fun. Overshot GZ initially but, after some back tracking, we soon found the cache. Great themed container!

We were out for the night with KiwifruitsNZ to tick off some night caches for the GIO license series.

This was an enjoyable puzzle to solve and equally enjoyable to find! A great area to explore in the darkness, and the track was lots of fun to follow.

We initially overshot GZ, as KFNZ mentioned, but soon discovered our mistake and quickly found the container. A great adventure! Loved how everything was themed well. +1 favourite point. Thanks for the puzzle cache! Big Grin

Loved this cache, def gets a fave from us. Solved the puzzle today and set off late at night to find it. The GZ was thick with spiderwebs as it hadn't been found in a while and a big black spider was guarding the cache. Gloves were put on for the retrieval! Loved the cache contents! TFTC Smile

Hmm. Solved this puzzle a while back and decided to wait for winter when darkness falls a little earlier. Got onto the track OK this evening but it seemed to end without me being able to find any cache.

Wow! Definitely a fav from me. I've done a similar cache to this in the past, however this one was so much more fun!

Anyway solving the puzzle was fairly straight forward, although there appears to be two different "interpretations" which could explain some of the previous log entries. So after initially using one interpretation which didn't always spell things correctly, I made a minor adjustment which made a lot more sense. The next issue was trying to get some time to continue the adventure.

Last night I decided to finally do something about this and replaced my power supply to begin my crusade. All I can say was that this was a lot of fun with only one backtrack required after over shooting the GZ. I also dropped a Geocoin I have unfortunately been holding on to far too long - I thought that I had initially lost it when I shifted houses, but discovered it last week. Knowing about this cache makes this the perfect place for the Geocoin to continue it's adventure.

TFTC!

Took my daughter and boyfriend out for a spot of night adventure. The trail was quite something and much longer than I was expecting. We were delighted with the glow worms in the trees, beautiful! At the end of the night: one cache, two injuries and three satisfied people. Thanks for the fun.

Well done LC an FF! I'm usually not one to go in for puzzles, but this one is fun. Great place for the final too. Cheers for the cache and well worth a fave point.

Edit: Fixed the date of the fine.

FTFAN - first to find at night! Wink

Solved this the previous morning as soon as it came out, bolted my way to GZ before work, and then noticed the attributes and confused myself a bit, thinking I might have recorded the wrong coordinates. Resolved at work and confirmed I had the right coordinates. Talked to funkymunkyzone later in the day and the penny finally dropped it was a night cache.

So made a midnight run to have a crack at this. Made my way along the trail getting distracted along the way by what ended up to look like a marker for a buried pet. It was pretty obvious when I got to GZ and after a little searching the well-themed cache was found.

Thanks!

Saw this new cache pop up this morning and got quickly onto solving it. Quickly solved it by hand and let the co know about some minor issues. Had to make an appearance at work and stick around for the xmas lunch, lucky too as I won a mystery break. Anyway headed out later to make the find. I reckon this will collect a few fave points starting with mine! Tftc Big Grin

We like this type of puzzle so couldn't resist sitting down to solve it over breakfast. We were tempted to head straight out to attempt the find, but had promised to attend a grandson's prizegiving late morning. We had other business across town today, so combined business with pleasure after the family commitment was fulfilled.
Armed with our Flaming Sword of Light we ventured forth on our quest for the cache. After much adventure we arived at our destination and quickly unearthed the treasure. Signed the blank logbook at 1.30 pm. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin (FTF)
