Tough spotting but got there

26-Oct-24
Ouch, damn! Oi! Yikes! Owwwww! Oh I got it. Actually I SEE it but how to grab? Ahhhh really long hook like stick should do it. More cursing and I finally had it close enough to grab. Good view from here of the bridge!

Have located old container and replaced. It is now a ammo tin.

No luck for us with this one today

30-May-24
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state WA. Spending a few days in Nuriootpa to cache the surrounds. Loving the scenery that we pass as we move through the caches - this is our preferred caching - not suburbs. Drizzly day but the farmers definitely need it. Sticking to the black and the white roads. Thanks - I think

The first of a short run of DNFs. Sent long-panted and work-booted husband down the bank and sent directions from the top but no luck today. TFTC anyway

After a visit to Hamley Bridge for a special Virtual cache we spent some time caching in the area. We stopped to have a look for this cache. We've had varying success looking for BBB caches over the years so usually stop when we find ourselves close by. This was interesting as the recent road works had knocked over the middle section of this fearsome line of Agave. Our GPS had GZ on the edge of the new gap. We hunted around in the plants but could not discover the container. On our way back up the hill we checked out the dead clumps but again found nothing. Another one that will remain unfound.

Found during a day out caching in the Roseworthy to Hamley Bridge area. This won't last much longer with the recent roadworks engulfing the spikes. Thanks for the cache Big Bad Bradley!

We wouldn't complain! We had a look, evaluated and decided this was not the temperature/ weather to be tackling this. We will be back

TFTC. Along with miff1 we though today would be a good chance to explore some of the Barrossa. We. Had earmarked a virtual cache at Hamblyn Bridge as our primary objective. We would stop and find other caches as we came close. We lunched at Nurioopta before completing a tour of their Historic wineries. A great relaxing day,

08-Feb-22
A change of pace today, our team was hugely decreased in numbers with only HansandLinda and ourselves goingand to Nurioopta to visit the lovely Snappy Tomcats followed by lunch and a tour of the wineries to complete an AL. Plus we picked upa few other caches that were needed to help fill DT grids or challenges. SL TFTC

It was school holidays and I needed a break from school and chores and needed to just have some fun. I talked sir_spectre into joining me for a weekend away caching near Clare and Burra. We avoided the big towns and focused on the caches we normally drive past on the way to somewhere else. Any caches that needed some attention got it.
Thanks to Tk2 from mogni Smile

10-Jul-21
Well not a quick find but not a slow find either. Found after going down the slope, lucky for me the bush has died back a little and after a little search the cache was found. No blood spilt today.
found with Mogni. Headed out in the general direction of clare and planned to clean out clare before the June Long Weekend End Event in 2022. As usual there was ALOT of caches found before then and only a couple of caches where found in clare before staying in Farrel Flat for the night. The next day was cleaning out Burra and slowly making our way home. Damn doing multi's takes so long, since the final has a habit of not being in the direction you are planning to go next. All caches that where found that were brittle or damaged were replaced and logs found wet where replaced, except for nano's. Nano's are evil spawn and you can do your own maintanence on them.

Today i headed north to complete some of the rattler trail, I have been here before and back again, not a fan of these caches at all.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel. Today we arrived in Hamley Bridge.

Using geocaching as our tour guide, we set out today on a round trip from Hamley Bridge to Owen and return via Barabba.

Just as we arrived and parked up, the phone rang - SnappyTomCats - who we are visiting tomorrow. Chat Chat Chat, So I sent Mr D the Driver over to GZ - Got to ground zero could not find the cache. Oh, well, I knew we should have stopped today at 20 out of 20. Now it is 20 out of 21.

NO blood was split in the search of this cache. Thanks all the same Big Bad Bradley

22-May-18
Another Tuesday caching day with Mrs. SA Sewer Rat and Blackadders. Today we thought we might head north to clear up a few more DNF's and grab any other caches we might be passing. Cool The tragic fires that went through here were terrible for the locals and the State, They did however also help here. Half of the stand was wiped out. I managed to only get pricked twice and no significant blood was spilled! [^] Managed to find the replacement cache and the old melted fire effected cache. Smile I have removed the old cache as CITO (see picture) but will keep if for a while in case the owner wants it.

**Thanks Tk2 for this cache. ** Big Grin

I wasn't really dressed appropriately for attacking this one, but I had to give it a go. The area has suffered from a fire by the looks and some of the plants are lacking life... Twisted

I fossicked around a little, but wasn't going in too deep. As a result, I failed ot locate the cache.

So proud of myself for persisting with this nasty cache! Had trouble getting back up the hill. The things cachers do! TFTC!

Passing through the area today so made a couple of quick stops along the way.

Thanks to fellow geocacher for replacement container and thanks for your time.

17-Dec-15
This cache is a lot easier now, after the Pinery fires of 3 weeks ago. I was heading home after a few days helping out at BlazeAid clearing fencelines after the fires.
The poor agave plants suffered a little in the heat of the fires, but not quite as much as the cache (sorry, I've lost the photo between the phone and PC: edit I've found the files again - amazing what rebooting the computer can do for that sort of problem).
I was thinking of logging a needs maintenance log, but decided I could do it myself. The replacement is a little smaller than the original, but at least it has a pencil and a logsheet.

This cache has been temporarily disabled due to a recent fire in the area. An extensive area of farmland has been burnt out and poses a potential risk to public safety. For safety reasons, visitors should keep clear of all areas that have been affected. See updates at http://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/site/warnings_and_incidents/pinery_fire_information.jsp

Out and about with Mattycat exploring some of the lower mid north back roads and dry weather tracks, nasty nasty nasty were about to give up thinking the grader may have dealt with this one appropiately but some gallery pictures had us changing our location, long grass warm day a careful approach and a surprisingly easy cache, reat views of the old rail bridge from here TFTC Tk2 Wink

29-Oct-15
A good day's caching tour with Mr Froghoppin. [^]

After a frontal assault on the Brad plants (which looked like a road grader had struck them) we checked logs and photos and modified our approach.
Took a little while, but this Big Bad cache is off the to do list Twisted

Out and about today with earthlight looking for suitable spots to hide caches and of course find caches as we go, got to GZ and couldn't find anything, a scraper has gone through here and made a good ol mess with the ones on the road side, just about to call a DNF and looked at a photo and then resumed the search a bit further down the embankment and made a quick find once down there, TFTC and no blood was drawn today.

They say you are only as good as your next find. Well I found this one in the dark. I'd honed my skills by hunting down a few NGC objects and finding M104 by star hopping. Nope, I wasn't in Meccico or wearing a Sombrero Hat, but I found this one the second time I looked.

Yes TK2, there was 1 drop of blood. As I was getting up the slope, I made a mistake.

Clear skies!

Heading off on the prickly cactus road tour today with locus cache, JJ52 and laighside legends in Harry and a convoy of others as well Cool

We travelled far and wide and found most of the BBB caches that we looked for Big Grin Still despite all the people and previous finders with us a couple elluded us Sad
We also found some other caches. [^]

In the end after dodging cute little bunnies on the road we finally made it to Wallaroo before the pub shut for dinner and then I slept most of the way home to Adelaide.

Look out here comes the convoy. Lots of eyes. Not much luck until we decided to trust the GPS. The coords as good. Had us stumped for a while.

There are a lot of beer bottles and we retrieved a few.

Thanks Tk2 for placing this cache and sharing this area with us!

The GPS suggested down below, after a few minutes up top, firesafe, sushilord and a few others went to where the GPS suggested and sushilord made the find.

Out for the day with Laighside Legends, JJ52 and Ismartis for a fun day out. Cool
Attended the BBB on Tour event, then made our way out to a plethora of prickly, scratchy, frustratingly increasing caches with a similar camo style. Twisted
I finished the day with 14 finds Smile, 2 DNFs Sad and 1 event attended Cool... although that should read 15 finds (1 GCA), 2 DNFs and 2 events attended (1 GCA) Wink

I am NOT going to say 'a quick find' as most of these weren't, however some were quicker than others!

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring Australia after having attended Oz Mega. Big Grin

We have been camped at Mallala for a few nights with iluvtrekking and today we headed out in the hope of completing the PSA series and the It's a Small Wold (60) series along with a swag of other caches.

Think for us the PSA series has been our favourite power trail we have done in the last month. Great variety of hides and we had to think about where the caches might be hidden.

The only problem was the rain of a few days ago was likely to have left a few of the roads a bit muddy still. We tackled the all weather roads first then gingerly tested the Dry Weather Only Roads. We only saw one that looked impassable so the boys hopped out to test it and nearly got bogged on foot so that section they walked from one end to the other. Whilst the ladies looped around and picked up a nearby multi before picking them up at the other end.

Fabulous day out and about with friends and lots of smilies. Think there were only 3 DNF's that we remember. Big Grin

Mr Felix was glad to find this quickly and excited to be 2TF.
