Out in the PeuGEOt today with little littlecogs on the mission of getting our 500th cache.Little littlecogs could not believe that I found this one seeing she had already looked in its hiding place.Get a favourite from me.TFTC
Out driving around doing cache maintenance.Checked this one and everything was all okay today.
The swamp was bone dry this morning as I went on the hunt for this cache. A clever hid that was also high and dry.TFTC Tyred n CrankyKeep smiling
I found GC59X6N Box Swamp on 20 Sept 2022 at 12:00 am and it is find number 1,796 for me. I enjoyed finding this nice traditional cache as part of my tour of the St Arnaud area.
I apologise for this generic log today but i have set myself a twenty four hour challenge to see how many caches I can log and time is of the essence. This is the first time i have challenged myself this way and it will be interesting to see how I go and how far I get. My first targets are the St Arnaud star geoart mystery series which i have had solved and waiting for some time. it will be nice to see a bunch of smiley stars on my map. Once I have completed logging those I intend to find traditional caches along the numerous trails in and around St Arnaud itself. Depending on how far I get I may then need to find caches slightly further afield. There's are certainly plenty to choose from in the area.
Alternatively I may decide its all too much and have a snooze in my tent instead. Wish me luck and thanks to all the owners for the lovely caches I am finding today.
Thanks for Box Swamp and for the fun Tyred n Cranky.

Fortunately no water here. Interesting little place. Spotted a likely spot and went to investigate. On the retrieve got a bull ant bite. Yes a stinger. Anyway signed the log and all back in position. Well done with the camo.

Found while enjoying a day out, a picnic, exploring the area and adding some smiles along the way, TFTC and all the fun
Gee, this looks like it might have been complicated if there was water on the ground, but it’s almost completely dry here at the moment, a few too prints in the muddy bits. Nice hide here T&C, thanks!
First stop on the trail towards the Silo trail, cool spot and hide. Thank you for bringing me here. Garth
With travel plans disrupted due to border closures there was an opportunity to plan a caching trip and having been unable to attend last years mega it was decided to explore this area.

Today we completed our letterbox bingo and gathered all bar one of the remaining far and wide bingo but a mistake was made in obtaining the information and this caused the miss if only well it was all good in the end with a win for the team with the FAR and Wide Bingo thanks to all those caches for placing caches large enough for placing the stamps in.
We are progression this was our 22nd bingo impression and it was getting on in the day so after getting the paperwork done it was off to see what we had left to collect. This was a nice quick find.

Caching day at St Arnaud during the Mega Event. Found your cache. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for the fun and placing it.
Found staying in St Arnaud for a week to attend the Mega Event, had a great time finding some quality caches around the area, this was one of them. I teamed up with My good Mate Rosstaman and Green Gecko from Brisbane. Having been to St Arnaud three times we were glad of the new publications today, that gave us something to do before heading out far and wide in all different directions to find caches.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for the cache.

Now that the Mega is done and dusted it is time to log all of the caches that I found over the weekend.
The organising crew have to be congratulated for the great job they did in having such a fantastic event which we all enjoyed.
To the people in the background, the lab cache builders the locals and to all of the CO’s that have place caches out there for us to find it made for a very enjoyable 4 1/2 days for me.
I did not hear one complaint either.
After completing the StARS series this morning I was just checking my map and locating ones as I went along.
I now know what the stamps that I found in certain caches were for but that’s what you getting for coming up early.
A nice area for Penny to have a run around.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky TFTC.

Saturday got windy. [:o]
I mean blow ya socks off n turn 'em inside out kinda windy. It tried to rain too but the wind even blew that away.
That wasn't gunna stop us though from having a Gre Gre Great Time chasing caches.
Are we still in Gre Gre here or has that joke run it's coarse?
Anyway, I have dropped a favourite point on this cache not so much for its clever camoflage and crafty construction (I loved it), but for its location. This tiny little swamp with its ancient gnarly old trees is like an odd oasis of sorts and a total surprise to come across. [^]

Another bright and sunny day in St Arnaud, perfect for our 2nd day of caching here. Our goal today was to collect as many of the solved puzzle caches as well as some interesting traditionals.
The gravel roads have been quiet of traffic and full of wild life. We have seen lots of roos, shingle back lizards, the occasional snake and so much birdlife. The cache hides have included lots of variety and are excellent quality.
Thanks so much to the cache owners for the amazing effort of creating and maintaining these caches.

School holidays always calls for at least one midweek caching day, so we are out today with the youngest (8) of TheFriendlyFords. Catching a few heading from st Arnaud to Horsham, then Stawell today. Geo12 literally walked into this and hit his head. Great find, tftc
I have been meaning to drive out to this one on my last 2 trips up here but never seemed to make it.
The new puzzle caches took me close and I drove up a bit further before heading on foot through the dry swamp.
Imagine it would be snakey in summer
Cache in good order
Thanks Tyred n Cranky

#16289. Day 3 in St Arnaud for Robmc and me and today it's time to add smilies to the StARS puzzles. We have been joined by The Morris and pprass. As we travelled around the countryside we gathered a few more smiles along the way. An extra 13 caches in fact. As mentioned over the past few days it is so nice to see lush green paddocks and roadsides as we drive the roads less travelled.
Heading back towards town and we stopped to collect this one. Rather wet roadside today. Amazing the difference a couple of months can make.
ThanksTyred n Cranky

Day three at St Arnaud with BettyBoo3747. Today we were joined by The Morris and pprass.
We started the morning with a trip to the Bakery for much need coffee and pastries.
This allowed the temperature to more than double! (from 3 to 7 degrees)
We started the day with the StARS series.
By lunchtime it had hit a scorching 11 degrees, and was a lovely day.
We spent the afternoon doing other caches around the area.
We were a bit concerned as we approached this one, as several roadside area have been under water.
Fortunately, this one was (mostly) dry.
Nice hide construction.
Thanks, Robmc.

Found at 12:00 PM GAFF1.
Now here is a classic example of a cache that is way too low in Terrain rating - unless we approached it incorrectly.
We jumped out thinking it was just going to be on the side of the road, but then realised that we had to go into the swamp!
It's in a swamp isn't it?
Thanks Tyred n Cranky

We travelled to St Arnaud this afternoon, mainly to enjoy socialising with the local cachers before a CITO tomorrow morning. We decided to drive the long way around via a couple of new caches in Ararat, then up via Joel Joel and Wallaloo. About 3km south of the Wimmera Hwy, the GPS said to go straight ahead up a dirt road instead of going through Marnoo. No probs, it was a nice typical firm dirt road. Until.... about 500 metres before the highway, it turned to that sticky slippery black clay. The car started sliding sideways, so we threw it into 4WD and made it safely to the main road. Phew.
Onwards towards this cache and we were grateful for the nice secluded off road parking. The Geo-Truck had been literally plastered in this sticky black clay, and it wasn't coming off in a hurry. Not a hope of removing it here, so we found the cache and resolved to find a car wash whenever we could (turns out there is one in St Arnaud behind the BP).
TFTC Tyred n Cranky, it was a very cleverly constructed cache, and we enjoyed our little stopover here.

On a bit of a road trip wandering here and there, we have decided St Arnaud looks to be a jolly sort of a caching place so here we are. Now this one got us laughing and shaking our heads how had the CO got into our caching workshed at home? An identical one to a few sitting on the bench back home. Must be great minds think alike. Must say we like the placement of this one, very nice! Tftc
Unfortunately there was no swamp here today, extremely dry, but there certainly were some lovely old gnarly trees. Thanks for the cache.
one of many stops on the trip from Horsham to Albury to stretch the legs. Most being park and grabs with just a short walk from the car. This was a good hide. tftc
Great care has been taken to think about this cache to blend into its environment and that’s what I loved.
I could spend all day fossicking the area, and I could just imagine how streaming with life it would be after rain.
Oh and how I love the gums

Driving around checking on some of our caches and dropping off a few trackables.
We drove past thinking it was going to be inaccessible, but Muggle Hubby found the good track in, and a short walk took us right to this very young cleverly camouflaged Cache.
It was a lovely time of day in the box forest, with the frogs welcoming us.
Thanks again for another of your innovative caches.
Left nothing but our names on the log sheet, and another favourite point.

Great hide..Found on the way to a party in Murtoa. St Arnaud assault weekend with JSando and Carkisser.
St Arnaud weekend and I just had to be there because it is always such a cool and quality [^] weekend!
46 caches found and 4 events attended made for an awesome 3 day trip away and since there was a new cache trail at St Arnaud, well we all know that the caches were amazing, as always![^][^]
There were a few SA geocachers that I hadn't seen for ages and so it was lovely to catch up and cache with them [^]
Although the end of the trip involved an unexpected detour home through Horsham in case Rex, who had decided that a bloody large wriggly stick seemed like a fun toy to play with, required emergency vet work after he tried to touch noses with the big brown that was up and striking at him!
Thankfully Rex didn't need vet assistance [^] and he now seems to have a healthy fear of snakes (he even jumped away from a plastic crocodile head cache near Horsham[^]) and is much more aware in the bush (even better because the following weekend he found another big brown wriggly stick at the lake in the caravan park we live in and jumped away from it[^] )
If nothing else the drive to Horsham gave me a chance to find a cache that has always been in a flooded or wet area previously and inaccessible so that find was a bonus
Then it was a very late night [|)] trip back home via St Arnaud again to pick up a cache container that a friend had forgotten to pick up for another geocacher
As I have been about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

After staying in Horsham for the night and heading back to St Arnuad, via a breakfast event in Donald. Out with Happy pants, grabbing some different hides, that we hadn't already found, as we meandered through some of the back roads. We made some great discoveries, clever hides and generally enjoyed the caches we found, which took us to some interesting places, that I wouldn't probably see if it wasn't for caching.. We enjoyed some fun and laughs along the way.
Enjoyed making the find here, as we collect afew along the way. Visited a few travel bugs while here.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Nearly didn't get out of the car but because it was dry today and not swampy I ventured out. Pleased that I did as I found a well concealed cache at GZ.

Day 4 of my latest road trip through undiscovered regions in Vic and SA. Started a wet morning in Swanhill but the clouds dispersed and made way for blue skies and sunshine for most of the day until I reached Horsham where the rain started again, off and on to St Arnaud where I lay my head for the night.
A total of 27 trads today.
#22 Parked and got out of the car and scared the shit out of a massive rabbit down the slope. A nice walk through this other worldly landscape. Cache found in good condition. Signed and replaced.

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all.
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, an d if she had to die
Tryin' she had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' in the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night

Left St Arnaud earlish to get a few find up while the road traffic would be quieter. Found this cache and others on todays run. All caches well in working condition when found. TFTC.
This morning I awoke and decided I needed to get out and about. The Silo Art Trail sounded like a plan in the making. Departing from home at 1030, I grabbed a few on the way up to Rupanyip and after a total of 650 kms and 10 hours I had amassed a grand total of 18 cache finds for the day. Not a good ratio of caches to kms but it was a fabulous day out.
I really enjoyed viewing the silo art and would recommend it to all as a must do.

Spent the day in the heat doing the Silo Art Trail grabbing caches along the way. TFTC.
Found during day trip with Mum/becca85 for the awesome annual St Arnaud events. We met up with GemmaSistema after lunch and had an awesome day exploring around St Arnaud and surrounds. TFTC!
Nice quick find here once we got to GZ.
After catching up with everyone for lunch, Team Clarmensma (today made up of myself, boo09, GemmaSistema & boys) headed out to clear up the outskirts of St Arnaud, all the way to Marnoo and a few more in town before coming back in to attend the dinner and seek some fantastic night caches. TFTC!

An afternoon of caching with becca85 and 3 of our kids (boo09, AdamSistema and LukeSistema). We picked up some stray local caches we had yet to find and explored a little further out of town too. Many thanks for the cache - a quick find here. Nice camo too!
Out and about with the youngest member of the ArunpFarmliy. Nice location and a well stocked cache fot miss 6. TFTC

TFTC. We had a long drive today and we broke it up with a few caching stops. This was the last before we needed to get our skates on. Quick stop and we stretched our legs. Quick find and a great camo. Favourite from us.

We actually noticed quite a few swampy areas while out and about on a most enjoyable and productive day out to the west of St Arnaud, in the very good company of au.fait.
This one however was the location of a very cleverly cammo'ed cache, which is worthy of a favourite point. Mosquitos here were buzzing around us like flies as soon as we exited the geovehicle.
Our thanks to Tyred n Cranky for placing this cache.

Out with Phetlern today in their geovehicle with a long list of caches to be found in a westerly direction from St Arnaud todays total was 31 including the event with only 2 DNFs all in all a great day with great company Thanks to all COs for placing these varied caches
Having driven over from SA with Anymules and then meeting up with mogni we had a great caching adventure over the past two days. Had solved many puzzles in the week prior to coming and had most of them before we attended a lunchtime event in St. Arnaud. Sadly this is were we had to part with mogni as she headed off to her home. Time for Anymules and me to start caching our way home as well. [^]
Was very to find that the swamp was mostly dry and had no problems walking into GZ. Quick find once there although there was a bit of (from afar) that old tree. Then closer, that tree. Then even closer. or maybe that tree. Always pays to follow your GPSr and not assume from a long way back. Thanks Tyred n Cranky. We will be back.

Stopped by on the way to grab this one on the way home from St Arnaud. TFTC. 21/08/2016, 11:53 AM Find #2703
Despite recent heavy rain, we were very surprised that there was no evidence of water in the swamp. That enabled us to walk without hassles to GZ where accurate coordinates led to a quick find of a well hidden cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Tyred_n_Cranky for the cache.
Heading home after a mammoth weekend in Mildura , caching and eventing, we picked up as many trads as time would allow us along the highway helping to break the journey up. We thank all the CO's for their efforts in placing these caches for us to enjoy.

Well our time in Mildura is up. It is time to head home to Geelong, but driving can be very boring. I know, let's grab a few caches !! So we cached a few hides on the way home. Thanks to the CO's who took the time to place these hides, well done. TFTC Tyred n Cranky
