A weekend of fun with a group of Canberra cachers. The weather was beautiful, cold and clear with little wind and it was a perfect day to be out walking and exploring and enjoying a winter weekend in Bathurst. We signed the logs as CBI24 ( Canberra-Bathurst Invasion 2024)Thanks for all the adventures and efforts to create some fun hides for the Geocaching community. Domsky

07-Jul-24
The target today for Canberra Bathurst Invasion was Mount Panorama and all associated caches. Some of us had already found caches in 2020, but more had appeared, and we hadn't even attempted all that were there back then. After meeting at the Racing Sports Museum and finalising plans, we crowded into just a few cars and headed off to find and sign all caches as CBI24. Thanks to all COs for placing these caches that add real purpose to a lap around the circuit.

Tankengine, Youban and I left Canberra just after lunchtime on Friday and drove straight to Bathurst. We had solved many of the puzzles or at least started the solves before coming. We were looking forward to finding many smilies this weekend and hanging out with our friends. We met up with our friends and signed caches as CBI24 (Canberra Bathurst Invasion 2024). The group included Fitzy_1965, Minniek, Kittykatch, Joolay, FurfacesLL, GLISS!, Tankengine, Youban, Contesta, Domsky, TikvaNZ, Isopeada, Barb2e, and SmittenGranny. We had an awesome dinner at the Kelso Hotel Bistro Friday night. And attended the ever changing event on Saturday night at The Reckless Brewery Co. Breakfast was at a couple of cafes that were all good and lunches wherever we could find it. Our little cabin at the NRMA Paramount caravan park, where there was just enough space for all three of us (just). We slept ok, but the leaky taps needed attention. We had an awesome time and would love another chance to visit Bathurst again another day. This cache: Nice quick find at this one too. Tftc!!!

07-Jul-24
Did all these around the circuit on the weekend and as we wanted to get as many finds as possible around the town and with a group of sixteen from Canberra. We signed them as CBI24. And did them as a draft. Now posting causing sore eyes and a throbbing digit finger. Kutgw

Day 5 of our Bathurst trip with Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506.Today spent the day caching around Bathurst. All puzzles were solved before the trip. This is one of the caches we stopped at. A quick search and the cache was located, signed and replaced. We stamped the log as 'The Mob' to save time and space. Many thanks for placing this cache, Joshwa27, for us and others to find.

09-May-24
We are in Bathurst with The Drovers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 for a few days caching and were all looking forward to doing another lap around the track. We had already previously found a lot of caches around here many years ago and we were extremely happy when version 2 had arrived and we had heaps more to find.Again we pulled up and wandered to gz, having this many eyes looking was a bonus on this one as it could have taken a little while to locate but on this occasion we were lucky.Once our The Mob stamp had been added to the log we returned everything as it was and happily wandered off to the next one,Thanks again for the cache.

After spending a couple of weeks in Canberra attending the Mega Event it was time to head back to Brisbane. We have a few weeks to travel so we are meandering up through country NSW. Today we're passing through Bathurst on our way to Hill End.Every October I religiously sit in front of the TV for three days watching The Great Race. Therefore I couldn't go through Bathurst without doing some laps in the Bedmobile. Picked up this cache on lap 3.TFTC

No traffic today. They were getting ready for the big easter meet. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. It was time for the traditional post Christmas road trip. The stockings were emptied of presents, feasts were devoured and great times were had with family and friends. Now to get away!Day 5: After some rain last night (in the middle of summer!), the sun is shining today and it was time to cut some laps of Mt Panorama. I dont think the geomobile will be breaking any lap records, but we might find a few more geocaches than Lowndes or Brock. We walked to this one from the bridge and with good coordinates I had my hand on it quickly. Thanks Joshwa27 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? 17-Nov-20
We have travelled from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to Bathurst for a 9 day holiday, camping in our Jayco Swan Outback Camper Trailer at the Bathurst NRMA Big4 Caravan Park, and plan to collect some caches & Adventure Labs in the Bathurst and surrounding areas.

Today we headed up to Mount Panorama to drive around the classic racing car circuit, and to collect all of the caches that are placed around the race track, including an old Archived cache (GC2MCRZ Sign of the times) that we accidently found for a bonus smiley. Also completed the new Adventure Lab that had recently appeared on the mount. Some extra caches were collected on the way up to the mount, and also on the return journey back to camp. This was the 17th of 25 finds for the day (day 3), and 42nd find of the holiday.

Parked on what seemed to be the only grassed spot along Conrod Straight that didn't have a "No Parking on Grass" sign erected on it, and then headed around to GZ. Did the monkey business and soon had CIH. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC Joshwa27.

And here we are. It is 2022, and after moving my life half the world away to Australia, discovering that Geocaching there without my friends was not as fun, generally trying to survive Australian fauna and flora and finding a job, only doing Geocaching on occasion during 2019, and then the pandemic hitting in 2020 and putting almost a complete halt to all traveling and finding, plus finally coming back to Europe to try and redo my life here this year… I have decided to sit down and log online all of the records I had gathered offline during these years. Some are lost forever (don’t trust your phone for years on end with offline logs), but hopefully I will manage to recover enough logs to paint a few broad strokes of what these years were, and the places they took me to.
Apologies in advance to all owners for this (in some cases, very) delayed logging. I can only say that sometimes we are not in the best place, and it takes time to find oneself. Thanks in advance for the hides, the places you took me to, and the stories you shared in the way.

-----

We take a weekend off and head to Bathurst and Orange to visit the area for the first time. It takes longer than we thought to get there, but once past the Blue Mountains, the rest is quite easy. Really surprised by the nice walk up in the mountains, and the circuit.
