Found it by accident as we didn't have any reception. Good thing we knew what we were looking for.
Day 4 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch.
Pretty sure I found where it should die to the distance from bench and the camo which I saw nowhere else on the walk.

Nice walk and a very clear hiding spot - with no cache present in spite of a good search around.
Beautiful birdsong in the bush today. We saw bellbirds, tuis, pigeons and a robin. Cache was an easy find as we spied the hide on approach. The log was very wet and I dried it off best I could
A curious tomtit came down to see what we were up to. The birdsong here was intoxicating. We spotted many bellbirds feeding too. Thanks for bringing us to this special place.
We parked the caravan up for a couple of days at Pleasant Point and use the car to explore the area we came through Makarora often enough but never stopped. To see how nature recovers is really amasing. Thank you SniffydogNZ
We are staying at Pleasant Flat campsite for a couple of nights and venturing out from there to find a few caches. This is a lovely walk, after finding the cache we sat a while enjoying the peace and listening to the birdsong.
Thank you for bringing us here SniffydogNZ.

Stayed in Makarora for the night before heading off to walk Gillespies pass. Thanks for placing the cache
This one was really tough, and we didn't know if it was at the ground, off the track, or in a tree.
Returning up the West Coast from a skiiing holiday with grand kids in Wanaka. StOpped for a cup of coffee by the fire.TFTC
Found although GPS thought it should be on other side of track
Logbook wet and barely usable, left a dry paper to use

Zowaa! On our way from Lake Hawea to Cameron flats. Nice walk and a nice cache. Thx, Simone
Lovely walk on a fine morning, kakariki in the trees. There's a waterproof logsheet in the cache, I had no trouble signing it!
Volgende keer gaan we weer verder.

Quick find on this nice short walk.
Unfortunately, the logbook was not inside the small plastic bag and so it was very wet, so it was almost impossible to write something in it.

Heading from the blue pools to Wanaka we stopped off to do this lovely short bush walk among the beech trees. Lots of cicadas chirping here today. A lovely spot which we had all to ourselves. Spotted the likely cache hiding place on our approach to gz. TFTC
Found it with MrsC on our NZ travels, from the UK, thanks. A lovely piece of woodland
A nice walk as we avoided the rain. Found with mr c on our travels from the UK thank you

The 8th and last day of our New Years trip down south. Only a few stops today as it was mostly driving. I had hurt my ankle yesterday so it was a slow but nice easy walk to GZ. The cache was quickly found but the logbook was waterlogged. We left the book inside the baggy incase you want to retrieve it and added a waterproof logstrip inside the container. Thanks for placing the cache and adding to our smilies
Merry Christmas. After a good breakfast to start the day we went for this one. Very nice nature walk. Unfortunately the heavy rain last week entered in the container. The logbook is completely damp. I squeezed as much water out of it I could. I also dried the container and put a new zip bag. I'm afraid it will turn rotten.
We went back at night for the glowworms, as we were staying at the holiday park. It was a magical moment, especially for our son. Thanks for the info.

Hey SniffydogNZ, TFTC.
On our trip trough NZ we ended up in Makarora. Unfortunately moving further to the west coast is not possible due to damaged roads. Tomorrow we have to turn back and continue the east route. Gives us time to have a look around the Haast pass and Makarora. A nice astonishing bush it is. thanks again for showing us this site.
Loenatiks (2xsr) the Netherlands.
BTW the log was as the surrounding completely drowned.

Today’s a dot day. It was stunning yesterday but today is ‘OK’, with clouds gathering further up the Makarora river valley. A lovely track with large trees hiding abundant bird life singing out their chorus in the late afternoon.
Originally my compass was leading me in a different direction, but after a bit of futile searching I switched on my geosenses and immediately found the cache.
Only two more days to go to complete my Jasmer grid (on 18th December). TFTC

Beautiful woods. Well worth the stop. Lots of trees and singing birds. Went back after dark to see the glow worms in the saw yard area
After some walks at the Haast Pass we needed a cache for today. This is the one. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Hamburg Germany
Found on an afternoon road trip from Wanaka to the Blue Pools with a small group of friends.
While visiting Wanaka, we have taken some time out from the usual tourist things to find a few geocaches in the area. We have been having a great time exploring the area and partaking of some of the activities available. We had an enjoyable little stroll in this great area [^]
Thank you SniffydogNZ for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Collecting a few caches today after an awesome 4 days on the Gillespie Pass. Quick find here with kiwileon and greenblat before heading off down the road. TFTC
Easy find after our doing the Gillespie circuit. Stayed in the awesome local cabins here before our trip.

A quick and easy find. A bit of a wander but the rain was still holding off. Cheers
Easter holidays, and a road trip to Milford Sound. Time to start the trek home, via the West Coast. Off to Haast today, and again the weather started well on the East of the pass. Once we hit the West the rain started, and it sounds like it is set in for the rest of the day.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Picked this one up as we were staying near by. Originally were trying to get to Cameron hut but the river was too swollen. Great trees here tftc
Lovely bushwalk. Luckily got parking for camper a bit further north and walked back to it. Tftc
Beautiful little bush walk in pristine nature (really magnificent trees), a geocache, and afterwards a coffee and some sweets in the nearby restaurant. Perfect rest stop on our way to Wanaka. TFTC!
Day 2 of a 4 day road trip. My mission on this trip was to travel South and West and then East and North. This road trip was all about the numbers but not quite in the usual way. In fact it was hours and hours spent on the road in search of minutes (and caches). I'm filling in gaps in my 'minutes' found across New Zealand in order to complete the 400 minutes challenge for the cache GC7YQZ8 - at the start of this trip I had a 52 minute gap to fill. Nice short walk to the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Found while in Makarora to go tramping. This track is not quite as ambitious as the track we are about to do! I enjoyed the stroll. TFTC
[#4431] On this Sunday we traveled from Haast towards Wanaka but ended on a campground in Albert Town. Unfortunately it was raining all morning so the walks and the views were not great, but worthwile as we do not see such a wonderful nature every day. We continued our trip over the SH6 in southern direction making many stops to make pictures and look for caches. We were happy that in the afternoon the weather became dry and more sunny. Thanks to all cache owners for making our visit even more fun and interesting.

Found with our 3 and 5 y.o. Thank you SniffydogNZ for making us stop here.
The last cache for the day was this one. We walked through the bush and found the box easily.
TFTC and greetings from Germany.

I ventured over the main divide via the Haast Pass with my caravan today stopping off for the night at the DOC Boundary Creek campsite halfway down Lake Hawea.
A nice little walk in the this bush. I just did the short nature walk and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would not like to have been a pit sawman.
Cheers for the cache

Heute ging es von Queenstown weiter nach Fox Glacier über eine wundervolle Bergstrasse. Wir haben die Dosen am Wegesrand eingesammelt und die tollen Aussichten genossen. Danke fürs Legen.
On our trip from Wanaka to Fox Glacier we stopped at many interesting points. This was a quick find. TFTC!
On our way from Wanaka to Haast we stopped for this geocache. Around 13:38 we signed the log.
Great cache, the book is getting damp and there is moisture in the bottom of the box...loved the short hike after visiting a very busy blue pools. Thanks!!
Lovely bush walk, ReCached and I enjoyed it a lot to get away from the heat for a bit. Finding the cache was easy, it was hidden as expected. TFTC SniffydogNZ!

Cache #2338
I was out on a road trip from Queenstown to Hokitika and back again and stopped to look for this cache on my travels. Took the short walk into the bush and made a quick find of the cache here. TFTC!
Happy 150th find to us! Loved the natural sounds on this short walk. We cleared out the sticky coloured spheres as they were breaking down and leaving goop in the cache. TFTC
Staying at the cabins nearby. Lovely informative walk. Cache has some sticky beads (?) that we will try to come back for and trash out. Thanks for the cache! Alison and Andy from Portland, OR USA
A cache which I managed to do while the others were shopping at the Tourist Centre. The walk was easy and pleasant, and the cache was found after sitting on the bench and pondering possible hiding places. Nice little hidden gem here. TFTC!
All of this day we spent on the Haast Highway and on the way we stopped for short hikes, visits to lookouts and of course, for caches.
It is a nice part of highway 6 and gives a good impression of the influence of the glacier rivers and the forests around here.
They are so different from our own country and that is what makes this trip special.
On this short walk we were impressed by all the ferns that grow here. Very special.

Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 3: With time now a bit against us for what we originally had planned for the West Coast a decision was made to catch up a bit of time and bee line it down the coast from Greymouth to Jackson's Bay. This meant a 6 1/2 drive through the night as we rotated drivers every hour or so while the other two got some sleep. This plan worked great as it set us up for another great day of caching. Today's mission involved caching from Jackson's Bay through to Cromwell and then up to Aoraki (Mt Cook). Today also made us appreciate the stunning beauty of the South Island.
Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

The (major road trip was about to begin) that was for the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB and iammrwalker for a bit of a road trip across to the west coast, through Haast and in a roundabout way to Oamaru.
My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.
Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.
Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size.
Its another new day and we find our selves at Jacksons Bay at dawn (having driven through the night taking turns). Great to see daylight once again, while making our way to Cromwell and Bendigo.
Thank you for the placement, thank you for the cache

I found this Geocache on a Geocaching mega mission along with Cats&Dragons and HKCB. With only just over three and half thousand Geocache finds I was very much the over achiever in training. We were in the South Island to support the Oamaru Geofest event, hunt down some Jasmar and D/T harder to find Geocaches, lonely caches (those not found in more than 6 months), virtuals and try and meet some milestone numbers. We signed the logs HIC, an abbreviation of our respective Geocaching names, (H)KCB, (I)ammrwalker and (C)ats&dragons. A huge thanks to all the CO’s who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found.
I arrived in Christchurch late Thursday evening having left straight from work and was picked up by my intrepid companions in our four wheel drive rental to find they had already grabbed about 270 finds in the previous twenty four hours. I wonder if the rental company would have still let us have it had they known we would travel 3300km in it before returning it four days later? Our trip took us to Greymouth via Arthurs pass, Ngahere, down the west coast to Haast across to Hawea, Cromwell, Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook, Tekapo, onto the east coast up to Oamaru and back up to Christchurch via Akaroa and countless diversions and small towns along the way. We slept in the car for the first two nights, grabbing some shut eye between cache finds, taking turns to drive. We rented a small place in Oamaru for the other two nights and appreciated a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. It was an amazing trip, in which I discovered the South Island has some of the most incredible scenery in the world.
We weren't to sure which path entrance to tak but got lucky and took the shortest route to GZ. Nice spot, thanks for bringing us here.
