Cache got too wet and broken, and I'm not living in Auckland to maintain any more. Someone else please put a cache here, because it's a great place!
I found it. Very easy, took 5 minutes to find. The log book is a little bit wet but still writable. Cap of the Cache is broken. TFTC!!!!
Nice cashe! Found easily coordinates spot on! Log book is wet but still writable on. Cap is a little bit broken. TFTC!- Maxgamingood October 19, 2024 7:36 PM Saturday MaxGamingood. Owner: bigbenlorax1.5 3.0 Small GC5FZWQ S 36 57.747' E 174 27.824' Traditional Cache
As we approached from the keyhole, we thought GC was atop a steep cliff, on what might be a closed trail. Upon arrival we were surprised with the blowhole, something we weren't expecting to visit today.quickly found after reviewing the clue.Log is super wet and the cache isn't waterproof anymore.TFTC! What a beautiful part of new Zealand
Great area we did not know about. Thanks for taking us here. I got it with Wisewarrior and Littlehawk. TFTC
TFTC. Good clues for a nice find for the kids. Spent the morning exploring the Blow Hole and pick up this cache on the way back. Hid it with more sticks on top.
With a clear day in the calendar, a plan was hatched to round up some friends and head out to Piha for an adventure. Anytime the Team SEAC crew are together its always an adventure. You can't predict what might happen but always know its going to be a good time. After the recent documentary about the people that have vanished in the area there was a bit of talk about that along the way but who knows what actually happened!! It started out pretty cold but soon warmed up and we enjoyed that pure wild west coast scenery.Wandered along to the end of the beach and was met with a sign warning of penguins in the area and not to disturb them! I didn't know there were penguins out this way. Didn't see any though. Nice quick find of the cache and off we went. Thanks for the cache.
Today a few of the team SEAC crew decided to spend the day at Piha. For some of our crew it was their first time at Piha and Piha put on quite a wild show after yesterdays squally storms blew through. Luckily today was calmer and sunny. We cached into Piha, enjoying the caches along Piha road, including finding a lonely cache that hadnt been found for a while. A picnic lunch was also had in some shade and then home again for a well deserved wine!Further along from the earth cache we found the start of the walk to this cache. We took note of the penguin sign but didn't see any today. Mrs Hemaludy made the find in a small grove of trees. TFTC!
A message went out a couple of days ago to the Team SEAC crew asking who was keen on a day caching at Piha. We decided to join the fun, and as per usual with a SEAC outing there were many laughs along the way. Out today was Keylev, NZIceman, Cragger, NZT and HeMaLuDy. This was our first visit out this way and the coastline did not disappoint. A few trees were searched, and Mrs HeMaLuDy came up with the cache this time.
### New Zealand 2024 ###On our 1 week tour North New Zealand tour we visited many caches in Auckland, Habbiton, Taupo, Huka Falls, Piha, Devonport and Mount Eden.We had a lot of great experiences along the way and had a lot of fun searching for the caches. Thanks to all the owners for the great caches Team sissifalke
On our long term trip from Germany to Western Australia / Tasmania / New Zealand for about 3,5 month, we arrived New Zealand and picked up some caches. We went to Piha, where we had 5 overnights during Christmas. This one was an easy and quick found After a short walk along the beach. TFTC
GPS messed me around a bit but eventually found it with the help of a muggle friend. No pen to sign log. Tftc
Located this one after visiting the blowhole. Getting toward low tide which meant that the sand could easily be accessed for the photo shot looking out to sea. After cache retrieval I moved a wee distance away and signed log. During signing a group walked past, one guessed I was caching - darn muggled! Fortunately I was away from GZ - no doubt a fellow cacher so no big concerns (plus wandered back and hid cache well again). TFTC!!
Greetings from America! I hiked up to GZ, but I'm not the best cache finder and I wasn't able to find it despite spending a little while around there. Still a beautiful area!
I found it after while, thanks for the Cache
Greetings from Germany.
I put in a Gardinen Angel, magnetic.

Dear owners, as geocaching should be entertainment, rest time from daily routines and work I would like to enjoy every minute outside. So Im sorry that Im not wasting my time on writing story to every log and watching the display. I spent a lot of time infront various displays. I prefer to drop few more words to very special situation like obstackles to find, bad state of cache etc.., and if there is amazing story to share, of course. Thank you for placing the cache, taking care about it and understanding.

After a walk around lake Wainamu and a later lunch along Scenic Drive we headed down to Piha to pickup a near by puzzle. I had walked down from the road above which was not the best idea but managed to grab this one along the way. Fortunately found this well buried cache after checking a couple of spots within a few minutes. Cache is in great condition, TFTC.
Found this one really fast as was a bit visible. Lovely area to go for a walk
Came over to find this one after collecting the Earthcache. No problems with muggles as they were more interested in looking at the blowhole, need to come back someday at high tide. TFTC
This has been on my 'to do' list for a few years. We had a lovely walk through this area with some good company. Found cache in good order and as per description, albeit, rather exposed in it's nest. I tried to cover it a little better, but it seems to be in a safe spot. Tftc
Enjoyed walk to the cache. Great location. Thanks for bringing me here. All good at GZ. FP awarded for place. TFTC
Spotted this while sheltering from the rain. Wasn't even searching for it. Have covered a bit better.
Needed to be in Auckland tonight and decided to arrive early so that I had time to detour out here for a walk up the cliff & then back along the beach. So glad I made the effort to get out to the coast. Lucky to have great weather today with barely a muggle in sight, apart from those out in the waves showing off their board skills. Enjoyed the walk to GZ here and really loved the blowhole. Cache quickly found with the helpful hint, log signed and replaced, thanks for the incentive to visit here, TFTC
Have never been here before so we were grateful there was a cache here. Found the cache first then clambered on down to the Blowhole. Tide was out so carried on out through the cave as far as safely possible. Terrific area even though the Blowhole is dangerous. TFTC
The blow hole is really cool. I just happened to be walking past and heard it and had to investigate. Then looked and saw a cache was nearby. Win-win-win. We all win. Tftc

The cache was quickly found with scouter 101, we then spent quite a bit of time exploring and admiring the blowhole.
Fantastic location worthy of a favourite point

Found on the first day of our New Zealand adventure and this was our first NZ cache! Caches like this are exactly why we love geocaching on vacation. There is no other way in the world that we would have found this awesome location if it was not for this cache. TFTH
Decided to come to Piha to relax and enjoy some nice hikes and scenery, and I couldn't have picked a better spot. It's absolutely beautiful!! I love it here, and have already extended my stay to 5 days (instead of 3). Today I met my new friend, Hans Burger, at the hostel, and she wanted to join me and see what geocaching is all about. I'm glad she joined me, because I was a bit nervous about going into the keyhole by myself. We did a beautiful hike in the keyhole and up to the blowhole at lowtide, before we finished with a spectacular sunset in the evening. Thank you for placing caches in so many beautiful places. Btw, Hans Burger really enjoyed this game and she wants to come join me to find more tomorrow as well.
About this cache:
Another beutiful spot in Piha. Thank you for showing us, we wouldn't have come here if it wasn't for geocaching. We had fun going through the blowhole. The cache was easily found on good coordinates. Tftc, greetings from Norway

Great cache because it led us the the blow hole. Unfortunately low tide so not much action but great for exploring
Great place for a walk with friends, very muddy and part of track flooded after rain.
A nice walk down Piha beach to secure this cache.
After heading to the wrong GZ originally, one of us soon sighted it.

Found while walking down the Gap Track to Piha Beach.
We were about to put the cache back when some muggles came unexpectedly down from the hill above, so we had to wait for them to pass by before returning the cache. TFTC.

It's been a while since I've logged a cache, so this was a great one to start! And with a new geohound it was a great excuse for a wee walk and a nice easy find. TFTC xx
We are traveling around New Zealand. We are so glad that we can discover this beautiful country. We enjoy it so much. This cache was found during our travel.
Thank you. Greetings from Czech Republic

Loving our walk around the Pihi coastline on this lovely winters day. Enjoyed checking out the Keyhole & Gap. Running out of daylight now. Found the hide but will need to come back another day to further explore. TFTC
Akirey and I visited in April and May New Zealand. First we decided to look around on the South Island including Steward Island then we went to the North Island.
All the time we enjoyed our trip. We saw a lot of sweet animals, amazing landscapes and met many nice people.
Also we searched for some caches. This one was one of them.
Thanks for hiding and greetings from Frankonia

Using the hint this one was easy to find, after walking to the cache we followed the trail until we had a look at the blowhole, great!
We took and left a travelbug

It has been a long time since I have been to this spot. Found the cache and continued on for a look at the blow hole. Full tide, but not much of a sea running. Tftc

A day out at Piha today - nearly 6 years since I was out here last - whew how time flies. Time to find a few more caches this time. I carried on from the cache at the lookout to find this one. Pretty sure that this is the first time that I've ever been here. Never knew about this feature. Very cool. Spotted the cache hide nice and quick too. TFTC, Biggles.
My first visit to this part of Piha, and I'm wondering why it's taken me so long! I've really enjoyed the walk here and made a nice quick find at GZ
Had heard about thec recent acquisition of land allowing access so was excited to visit, I had a different image in my head but the reality of this was more beautiful, what an amazing spot. Waljed out to where they hope to extend the track to meet up with Mercer Bay, beautiful views.
Easy find for Daniel, which was his very first find and welcome to geocaching. Beautiful day and lovely walk around to the gap and back. TFTC
Vistra and I were heading out to Piha, this was close to the main reason we were out here, so a quick walk to site and we soon had the cache in hand.

Joined up with yorkshirekiwi83 today to pick up a few caches out at Piha. After visiting the keyhole and Taitomo Island, we continued on to locate this cache - which was a nice easy find. An great area out there, thanks for the cache!

Out for a few caches today in Piha with evilno9, Paultaps, gorby and Greenblat. We headed over the hill along the track from South Piha, collecting a few caches along the way. Ive heard about this spot but never visited and wow, its a fantastic location!
Tide was low but the swell was big with a very blustery onshore. There was still a steady surge of water coming through and the foam it created was rather impressive to say the least!! We all spent a few minutes here taking in the location before heading off. Thanks for pointing out this place and also TFTC!

I came over via the top, walking past the two other c aches on the way! hmm will need to visit them another day. Instead of the scrabble down the steep side to the beach, a track has been formed, some drainage channels are in place, and they have started to lay some hard fill on the track towards the end. On my return the tide was out, so I walked along the beach back to Piha with a short rock hop around the point. Again tide to high, so could not do any of those caches either.
Today one of my goals was to visit this area now that its in Council ownership, I had been told about this place several years ago whilst staying on Tiri Tiri Island, so I knew where I needed to go. What an amazing place, just after I got to the waterfall it started raining. Thankfully I packed a coat, so stood under a tree waiting for the rain to stop. A magical location, in my hurry to visit the blow hole I had missed the cache, not really a problem, as I found it on the way out. Beautiful location, well worth a visit, thanks for the cache, and beating me here to hiding one

Easy to access by following the cliff track around from south Piha when the tide is high. Found after checking a couple of likely looking 'birds nests'. TFTC.
I had heard of it but never really knew where it was, so a new awesome place to visit. Cache a quick find, and spent a while at this new spot.

A quick find although the hint could apply to several spots here. Great place thats getting to be more known in this new area of parkland. Dropped of Geocoin
Fantastic spot! The tides weren't in our favour to get up the island so we made do with the short stroll to this cache instead.
Found the cache quickly but spent an age out here looking at this new area and beyond. I understand this will be linking up with the track at Mercer Bay in the future which is going to make for some more awesome views.

A nice day to visit Piha. Enjoyed the walk to GZ and stayed around a little bit longer to enjoy this well hidden but awesome place. TFTC
Whenever people mentioned the Piha Blowhole, I always assumed they meant where the waves force their way through the cracks at The Gap; I never knew this feature was here. It's not often that I find something new in Auckland - ah I love geocaching! Plus a fave just for that. Will come back when the tide is higher, the water was only just making it to the base of the waterfall. T4TC
I couldn't resist a cache out west!! Apart from Piha being one of my fav beaches. There was a FTF to get! More than 24 hrs later it was still there so I planned an early start to work, get cache at Piha, off to Botany to work. But the walk down and back to/from the blowhole took much longer than expected, good grief, it's a steep climb: 194m high at the off road park, dwn to near sea level in about a distance of 1.5km. My advice: wait for the tide to go out and walk around the beach that way or up and over the cliffs at high tide. That still would be easier than the way I went. This time I was only 45mins late for work which is better than yesterdays 2 1/2 hrs late for work. TFTC bigben. [8D} FTF #40
