Apologies for the late log, we have just come back from a 10 day holiday in SA and Western Vic and spent as much time with family as possible so catching up with logging now.We have been on holidays in SA and have spent 4 days catching up with JMelb's family in Adelaide. After departing Adelaide on Monday and staying a night at Karoondah to see the Night Projection on the silo there (very cool) we then arrived here in Learmonth at about 4.30pm yesterday and had a lovely wander along the shore of the lake. Today (2/10) we checked out, wishing we could have been staying longer!! This cache was next on our agenda and we really enjoyed the drive around to GZ. Actually we were aiming for the other cache first but missed the turn off so ended up here first. Before turning down Hugh Glass Lane we were struck by the intensity of the colour of the canola fields here! (Photo atached) Once at GZ our gps was leading us on a merry dance and was showing 8m at GZ. Thanks for bringing us to the quieter side of the lake, its very pretty and serene! Wish we could have stayed longer but we have to head to Creswick and then get home to pick up the puppy! TFTC Fergzter - GJMMelb

This was like a first to find as the log book was nice and new. Got 5 days off from work so I decided to come to Ballarat and do the Geo Tour before its gone, also grabbing random caches and Adventures labs along my journey. So thanks to all who have placed caches. Sl cache replaced.

Unfortunately we could find this cache - the GPS had the GZ right next to the track in an open area. Despite looking further afield we were unable to locate it. Four DNF's for us today which is a record amount for us. Oh well!

Came for a drive for the reverse view of the lake. Only found 1 of the 3 cache out here.
Road would be fun in the wet! Lake is very full.

My pesky GPS has gone wonky donkey again!! 18m out isn't fun at all. Many thanks for bringing me here. It's almost like waves rolling in from the boat wakes..... ????????????????????

Last one along the road here, although I had to walk the last 50 odd metres as I was in the wrong car to go to any further. Once near GZ, the cache was spotted out in the open. Signed the log and then re-hid the cache in a usual fashion and covered with some of the things (not leaves) that had fallen from the tree. Other than that, cache was all good.

Thanks for another one Fergzter....

Found by Rebel Acts

Some good friends had decided to head to Ballarat for a few weeks so I decided I needed a break and joined them, we had a great time out caching as well as sharing stories and laughs around a meal or two. I really love the area of Ballarat there is so much history and I am sure it has the largest population of Oak trees in the Country.

This is one of the caches found today.

Some caches logged as RASP rebel acts &Ski pair.

Thanks Fergzter for the cache.

27-Feb-22
With work encouraging us to take some holidays and Mr SKI having quite a few weeks up his sleeve it was time to take another short break and do some sightseeing and caching in parts of Victoria we seldom visit.
This time we decided it would be Ballarat. There is a wide variety of cache types and quite a number of Adventure Labs to do, so the area is quite attractive. And that doesn't include the historical and interest aspects as well.
We organized to meet up with some friends while there so we would have the opportunity to do some joint as well as solo caching.
We have already had some great adventures on a few challenging caches that generated a lot of fun and as usual always good to find some pre-solved puzzles.
All logs signed as SKI Pair, RASP (Rebel Acts & SKI Pair or SP depending on size of logs and availability of space.

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Fergzter.

Hi all. Apologies for the delay getting out to this one. Should be passing by soon with luck. In the meantime it is meant to be in the tree hollow. You may need to dig around in there as it gets buried over time.

To stick my arm there in or not? I totally did and only found a cache thankfully! Easily accesible lane in dry weather. Luckily the area has also recently been slashed so a bit less tiptoeing through long snakey grass. Tftc

TFTC. We were caching around the Burrumbeet area while camping at Haddon for a few days. We took the detour along this track at the bottom of Lake Learmonth. Glad that the track went through as it is quite narrow

Found at 11:59 AM GAFF1.
Went to the obvious spot and rooted around, but couldn't find anything. Thought it had been muggled. As I was moving back down I thought of checking a much more higher D rated location and there it was! Woe - who would look in there to start with?
Thanks Fergzter
Feedback: This cache should be at least a D of 2.0

Headed west for a short break and decided to take the country roads rather than the hwy.
Came across Learmonth to turn the green dots into smileys.
After doing the caches in town I came around the back of the lake to find these ones.
It is sad to see the state of the lake and the town must feel it with lack of tourists.
I could see this area being very popular when there is water in the lake.
Thanks Fergzter TFTC

The thing about obtaining this set of 3 caches is that we can’t see the lake in the dark.
We can see the edge of the lake which has long grass but we can only see a few meters in with the car lights and we have no idea of the level of the water.
The full moon is hidden behind the clouds too.
We have a suspicion that the lake has dried up.
TFTC and bringing us here.

Find #2076 for me. Found at 3:35 pm while on one of my regular Sunday trips to Ballarat from Bendigo. This was my 6th find for the afternoon. While it was hot today, it was also overcast and not at all unpleasant outside. On approach, I wasn't sure how my 2WD would handle Hugh Glass Lane but decided to just keep on driving while the track was driveable... and it turned out I could easily drive right up to this one and the other two further up the road, so no problem there. Once at GZ I made a quick find. And what a great location! My sister's family lives at Learmonth so I'd seen quite a bit of that side of the lake, but this is the first time I can remember ever being on the southern side. Pity there was no water in the lake. Although it's been dry for years, I'm old enough to remember a time when the lake held water and boats could be seen sailing on it... But despite the dryness of the lake it still possessed a different kind of eerie beauty. Thanks for bringing me to this fantastic location today Fergzter and thanks for the cache!

We were being observed by a curious willy wagtail as we searched for this well hidden cache. He was obviously enjoying his area today.

25-Jan-19
This was the final of the three caches on this side of the lake, and the easiest for me to access, although the walking pole came in useful again. The location of the cache tricked me as the cache was not quite where I expected it to be. It gave me a bit of a laugh when I found it. I’d already passed it, but obviously my eyes weren’t focused on the right level. A second search had the cache almost jumping into my hand! Another laugh before signing the log and head off for another cache.

This log is to tidy up a mess I made with GSAK . I forgot to apply the template so my finds were published with a nonsensical log.

Rather than try and edit all the logs I post this not with what the log should have been.

My apologies for the confusion caused.

A few days away with Freddo, e.gregory1 and The White Dog Gang.

Fun was had by all. Not too many dnfs

Most logs signed as FETT.

Thanks for all the caches.

Cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for a fun cache guys. Love your work. We signed the logbook. Warning this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise.

29-Dec-18
Found on a short, post-Christmas sojourn to Victoria with Freddo, Team Waldron and thewhitedoggang that involved plenty of driving, cycling, walking and even some boating and wading.

The weather was on our side (albeit a little warm at times), which made for some great caching. There were plenty of varied finds, with some excellent and often tricky hides and and just a few DNFs. We signed most logbooks ‘F.E.T.T.’

Thanks Fergzter for the cache.

Today was my first day of my holidays and I was heading to the weekend events at St Arnaud. The caches I chose along the way were stop and revive caches spread out between Ballarat and St Arnaud. Somehow I missed the obvious, and almost DNFed this one. Fortunately I looked up and saw what I had missed.

My thanks to Fergzter for the cache.

Found It.......It was decided to head up to Ballarat to do some shopping and caching today. So after our retail therapy we set off up to Learmonth to see if we could tidy up the caches in the area so with a plan in place we set off. After pulling up we wandered over to GZ and the search started and soon after the cache was located and with the log signed we continued on our way. Thanks Fergzter for the cache

Again my gpsr wouldn't settle so again it went back in my pocket!! Out of the 3 hiding spots along this lane for the 3 caches, this is the one that I was most hesitant about. With a native tool and a bit of courage I soon had the cache found, log signed, cache replaced. Tftc

We had intended to travel to South Australia for a couple of days but our plans were thwarted so we settled for a shorter version instead. Last night we stayed the night in Elmhurst while we collected our thoughts and today we headed for Lake Learmonth to salvage a bit of a break.
After setting up camp we jumped on the motorbike and headed out to collect the local offerings.

It was a fun day - thanks Fergzter

Took the young ones out for the afternoon who wanted to do the Learmonth Lake caches. Managed the first lot in town easily, walking in the hot sun. Then we drove around the the other side of the lake and went down a track to get to the cache. Beautiful views across the lake, easy to find caches and not quite so hot. TFTC

After completing the caches on the other side of the lake we decided to trip over to this side and finish the lot!!! Really beautiful scenery... even if there were swans (I'm scared of swans... it's a long story).
After writing in the log we headed back to the car.... and a sneaky little bee stung me on the back... not happy Jan!!! Ah well... geocaching is full of adventures!!

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.

Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.

Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Fergzterfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

24-Dec-17
A great cache find whilst in a beautiful area......there may have been some giggles in the car at the name of the road and cache (if you run the words into each other that is WinkSurprisedCool )

Out caching today with buddies after an event.

I was accompanied by the lovely micaparamedic who'd come to Adelaide to see me, and then we drove to Victoria so that I could attend a number of events, have Christmas, spend time with friends and of course to do some caching! Cool

Thanks so much for the cache Fergzter! Smile

Making our annual Xmas trip between Adelaide and Melbourne is always improved by finding a few caches along the way. This was the third of several we found around the lake this evening. A great spot for a cache. Smile TFTC
