I was already walking so I sent the maths to my puzzle solving daughter and she had the cords back to me before I could catch my breath. So close it meant a bit more of a walk. A great place to be. TFTC

Found with richlink as part of our Annual Caravan Geocaching Trip. It's a sunny but cold morning, but today is the day we make our assault on The Spring Gully Conservation Park. We enjoyed our hike, picking up some great caches along the way. Thanks to TheKellyGang for some excellent hides and others who have placed caches along these trails.

Travelling with iluvtrekking on a SA caching foray. Staying a couple of days in Clare to grab some finds. Chilly but a good morning for doing this trail. Thanks squash99

28-Apr-24
I decided to take Friday off work to make it a four day weekend. The plan was to explore around Barossa and Clare valleys. Im not much of a wine drinker but there sure are lots of geocaches in these parts. I brought my bike along so I could tackle some of the many caches along bike tracks. A little cool through out the day but the sun was shining which always makes me happy. Yes I am a John Denver Fan. A nice simple puzzle and a quick find after completing the long walk to GZ. Thank you squash99, for placing Home Among The Gum-trees - A Mathematical Stroll for the geocaching community.# # SmileSmile #14964 SmileSmile # #

Travelling Australia in our caravan since February 2014.With magnificent weather forecast we were up early this morning for a 5+ km hike in the Spring Gully National Park. We were hoping to beat the heat AND the flies. great walk, really enjoyed the wildflowers, and only a few flies!Mrs Felix had a rest at her computer after lunch, whilst Mr Felix tackled some newer caches by bike on the riesling trail which we first tackled back in 2014. Once together again, we headed off in the geocruiser to tackle a few more caches to get away from the constant construction noise in the caravan park. SurprisedTFTC squash99

Mrs Woodyrothwell was walking on the trail whilst I took the rough side of the hill to grab a cache. I suggested we should meet at this hide so we didn’t get lost. I also told her that if she got there first to go ahead and find the the cache.

Naturally I got there second because I took the slow uneven route and found her sitting next to the trail. I joined her and was ready to walk off when she reminded me to find this hide.

I said “What? How long were you here for?”. She told me it didn’t make sense for her to walk 20 minutes uphill into the bush when I was going to be coming straight passed it. I walked up the 20 metres to make the find. tftc

I headed up to Clare today with Team Waldron and FeatherWaite to go for a walk and do the caches in the Spring Gully Conservation Park.

After the weather we’ve been having, we jagged a great day for it - cool but fine - perfect weather for walking around the park.

The cache was found without any difficultly and was in good order.

Thanks squash99 for the puzzle and the cache.

Found with e.gregory1 and Team Waldron on a trip up to Clare with the main aim of hiking around Spring Gully Conservation Park. With an early start we had plenty of time to pick up a variety of Multicaches, Puzzle caches, Traditionals and a Virtual cache as well as attending the CITO in Clare before heading for home. Thanks for the cache squash99!

Out for the day with Featherwaite and E.Gregory1. A walk in this park was the objective of our day.

We found the terrain to be a little easier than we expected. We managed to clear the park which made us very happy.

A nicely sized container.

Some members of the Puzzled Puzzlers group of puzzle solvers were heading out on another Wednesday wander in search of Puzzles and anything else that comes within range. Cool Today there was myself, Anymules, Blackadders and S.A. Sewer Rats on board and our ultimate destination was Clare or thereabouts. [8)] As usual there would be giggles, blood, probably a fall and some ripped clothing plus a lot of caches found. [:o)]

With the number of online math calculators available these puzzles are able to be solved by even..well ME. [^] All that was left was to come and collect the cache. Surprisingly it was in the first place I looked. Smile hoot..love it when that happens. Razz

Sorry about the Generic Log, Many found and many to log from a few weeks ago.

The usual troupe of a Rat, Adder and Starfish on their Wednesday day out, today up North. Thanks for all the caches although I can not remember them all. The logs of the others pretty much describes the hide, find and adventure. TFTC

A group of assorted geo animals went for a stroll in the National park.
There were plenty of gum trees.
A quick find on a warm afternoon. Tftc

After our encounter with a snake yesterday, we were watchful today as we hunted for the caches in the park. No issues though, the only thing we saw was a kangaroo watching us through the trees.

This cache was found quickly. tftc

The three of us were visiting family on Sevenhill and went for a nice early morning walk in the park.

A great sized "proper" cache container that you don't see much of these days. Some great swaps for the kids. Another favourite.

Signed the log. Thanks for the cache squash99.

Further along the track we did some maths....
Another cache in this great park that rarely gets visited! Nearly 6 mths since last visitor (even longer for the last one along here, but the puzzle gatherer didn't go the extra 300m! lol)
Quick find

Thankfully I had a mathematical whizz in the car for the Long Weekend event in Wirrabara, so I tapped into his brain. Love wandering around this area and finding caches. TFTC

Driving back after our JLWE, we had an opportunity to go to a few places off the beaten track and pick up some (mainly) puzzle caches.
Our walk in the Spring Gully Conservation park yielded 7 finds and this was number 3.

We had previously attempted to find this cache, but approached it from the wrong (mathematical?) angle and ran out of daylight hours. No such issues today though.

After helping Mr Frog bring some farm machinery to an airstrip close-by, he suggested that I go caching until he was finished. Unfortunately, the 5 hours that were promised was only 2. But the fertiliser was spread, job done, and he was happy. I did enjoy the morning's walk, listening to the birds.

Found It!
A quick little puzzle although I did notice one error - you forgot to specify if you're using radians or degrees!
I remember doing this stuff at school. No one ever did manage to find the hippopotamus. I can't say I have ever got a lot of use out of these equations. Cos theta plus j sin theta becomes the trigonometric formula of choice once you get to uni...
A nice little walk and a quick find at GZ!

Spent the day with Freddo enjoying the rattler trail and then picking up some of the other unfound geocaches around the Clare Valley [^] The rain held off for us and the temperature was just perfect for some exercise!
Thoroughly enjoyed the variety of hides, cache types and containers we found along the way.
Cheers and TFTC squash99

Interestingly I could not get a check on this one for a while. I tried it again on my little lappy and got a check. Fed the coords into my main pooter and it failed. Have not seen that before (not sure if Ben had the same issue as when this one came out, we both could not get checks on the night..... ).

Anyhow, as I approached GZ, I was hoping a cache was actually there, and it was, initially opposite me so I moved a bit and made the cache adjacent to me.

Love your work - a cache in a cache was Dak's fav too....

Clear skies to squash99 from TeamAstro.

Had a look at the puzzle last night, knowing we were going to be in the area today [8].
Followed the trail in on a nice cool day (particularly for January), to the cache Razz.

Thanks Squash99.

Did the math. Found the cache. Coordinates Spot on. Thanks for the puzzle, I had to dust off the cob webs from my slide ruler. A cool morning for a walk amongst the gums. Cheers

This morning in the HEAT of a summer's day I walked the fire track finding 3 caches, but this one eluded me. After a bit of fine tuning with the CO, a return trip this afternoon in much more pleasant conditions, saw me getting a FTF at 1600hrs! The only thing better would have been if Gus&Me was still here so she could have shared the find. The cache is well presented and well hidden, and this time we even had a kangaroo cross our path! TFTC squash99 - I really enjoyed the find. Smile

Radians or degrees? Murphy's law of high school exams states that it doesn't matter which one your calculator is set to, it will be the wrong one...
