Thanks ClareValleyCaching for placing this cache and for the ongoing maintenance. Find #10750 on 2/11/2024 at 4:19PMA plan was hatched to ride along the Riesling Trail and collect a few caches. A delightful day in the company of Cheezel and Jolly riding along and signing logs. This is a special place, very enjoyable. We also collected some others that were nearby or along the way.
TFTC found while on a trip to SA doing a couple of rail trails with Algae. I rode my bicycle and Algae rode his electric unicycle. Thanks for placing and maintaining these caches for us to find.
As we wander through the land, grabbing caches and seeing the sights even occasionally catching up with friends A good day was had while grabbing these caches with lots of miles covered Thanks for placing them *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Over the least few days we have chosen to walk various parts of the Riesling/Rattler trails grabbing any caches we could find as we passed by. Many thanks for the hide ClareValleyCaching
Stopped off here after a weekend of gravel riding in ClareA quick find, stamp and returnTFTC
Did a trip to Riverton to give the mobility scooter a run to do the southern end of the rattler trail. TFTC
I’ve rounded out the day with Rattlers #11 to #15, which sadly only partly fills a gap in the series for me. I’d have to say that this section of the trail is in need of a maintenance run; all caches in need of replacement, some of them urgently so. I’ve signed the logs as best I can with the varying degrees of wetness. It would be a nice walk from Riverton to Rhynie if you could coordinate two cars.
Thanks for this series ClareValleyCaching.
Thanks for this series ClareValleyCaching.
Spending a few days exploring and caching around the Clare Valley. Visiting some towns that I haven’t been before so lots of unfound geocaches up for grabs.
Day one was Hamley Bridge, Stockport, Tarlee and Riverton. Very warm today so didn’t break any records and needed frequent stops to rehydrate.
After checking in to the Riverton Caravan Park, I set off on my bike to make a start along the Rattler Trail. Only one DNF on the trail today.
After a couple of hours on my bike, the cool water of the Riverton Pool was beckoning me so I called it a day a headed back to Riverton.
Thanks for the cache cvc.

A return visit to Clare was planned for the long weekend with the JAMS crew plus tallbikestan to find a lot of the caches that we didn't get to on our last visit along with the Rattler, Riesling and NE trails as well as the Mid North Channel Country trail. [^]
We had three very full days with perfect weather for caching, lots of bike riding, lots of walking and lots of driving along dirt tracks. We were lucky it had not recently been wet as some of the roads we drove on would not have been passable if wet. Loved the scenery at this time of year with everything looking very green as well as the bright yellow of the canola crops.
A fun weekend of caching, lots of caches found and lots of cool places visited.

A big long weekend with the JAMS Crew (JJ52, allister w(me), mogni, Sir Spectre and tallbikestan). We road from Riverton to Stanley Flat on day 1. Then more riding near Spalding on day 2. Then finished the weekend with finding caches around the area in the car. TFTC
So glad we had electric bikes to do this trail.
The JAMS team ( JJ52,Allister w, Mogni, and sir_spectre minus mitchell&hound ) but Tallbikestan was with us instead and we where out for there usually monthly caching adventure. This time it was over the october long weekend instead of the usual day trip. The taget this time was Drop into the Light a long ladder cache on the way to clare and then to clear the Rattler trail, Riesling Trail, Ne Trail saturday on the bikes and then sunday do the Mid North Channel Country bike trail. Monday on the return home was to get Peter's view a 2001 cache. Of course there was many, many other's found on route to the various target for the weekend, somewhere around 260 found by the team. It could have been more but we were not going at a flat out pace, just steady and getting a blow out on the bike 1.6 km's from the end of the Mid North Channel Country bike trail didn't help. I didn't see any snakes this trip but allister did, he saw 5. The caches this trip where written in as JAMS, i forgot the stamps. Also 1 cache was placed by the JAMS team this trip. Out of all the bike tracks i preferred the Rattler /Riesling trail. I like riding through the very rich ( after all the recent rains ) fields of yellow flowers.

The JAMS crew went on an October long weekend adventure back to Clare. We brought Tallbikestan along as we were targetting the bike tracks and he is the best rider amongst us. Allister W and sir_spectre we the other main riders, with JJ52 and I the support crew and walkers. A huge weekend of fun and adventure was had by all, until I made SS sick with my cold....oops.
Thanks to all those who have kept not just the bike tracks but all the other caches alive for us to find.
All caches signed as JAMS.
Thanks to ClareValleyCaching from mogni

Returned to this series from starting end. I earlier did some from Auburn. On both times it was done by walking. Slow but good exercise. Thanks ClareValleyCaching.
#19241. Day 14 of our Vic/SA trip with Robmc the geodogs and our bicycles. A day of moving on - leaving Clare and heading to Tanunda for a few days. First though we wanted to finish off the Rattler Trail so drove to the oval at Riverton and rode as far as #31. It was a bit of a hard slog into a strong head wind on the open sections but a pretty good ride on the way back in quick time.
The sizing over here causes us a bit of angst - Regulars that are 200ml Sistemas or Eclipse tins and smalls that are a good size. It might be time for a good maintenance run along here as some of the tins were wet and losing their lids etc,
Thanks ClareValleyCaching

Day fourteen of our short South Australian trip with BettyBoo3747 and the geo-doggies.
Our last day on the Rattler series. We drove down to Riverton and unloaded the deadly treadlies and hit the bike trails riding for the last half of the Rattler series. We then traveled to Tanunda collecting a few caches on the way.
A strong northerly on the exposed sections of trail today, which wasn't too bad as that meant a tail wind on the way back.
Another day of empty trails - how nice.
Found all but two today. One we were muggled out by cows (No.2), and one had a tree fallen (No.15).
Thanks for this great series of caches, and a lovely ride.
Thanks, Robmc.

After finding cache Rattler 64 near our camp ground in Auburn, we decided to stay one night longer, and to bike the Rattler trail to Riverton. And so we did the next morning, caching on the way and back, and enjoying a good lunch in Riverton.
All in all it was a good day, some 40 km on the bikes, 5 DNFs, good weather, nice sized boxes and a lot of fun.
Thank you for showing the beautiful surroundings and for preparation this trail. We had a fun day.

Today we had to head back to Adelaide and home...the campsite had offered us a free night, pay for 2 stay for 3, if only we could have. So it was a better day for caching despite the weather being just as horrid as yesterday. We got a decent haul and had a good walk. Nice mixture of caches were found and no dnfs which is always a bonus. Unfortunately we had to make do with a grotty pie for lunch but you win some and you lose some. We also called in at Taylor's winery and enjoyed a chocolate and wine tasting (which was epic and lots of fun). Super weekend, shame its back to work tomorrow. As we left the campsite we noticed pprass was also camped there easily spied by his geocaching wheel cover. It was nice to chat to some fellow cachers in the field, what lovely people.
Today I jumped back on the Rattler Trail not literally I walked about 5kms of it. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite getting rained on and getting wet through to my jocks. Its a fab trail with a great mixture of hides all nicely hidden and in good condition. This was our last find for this trip, hopefully finish the rest next time, hopefully not another 2 years before our next Clare trip.

Stopped in for a short walk along the Rattler Trail to fill in a gap of eight caches. TFTC cvc.
I am cycling the Mawson Trail from Blinman and Adelaide which has provided the opportunity to pick up a few geocaches along the way, including quite a few between Clare and Riverton today. This one was a reasonably straightforward find, being in an obvious position on the coordinates. Thank you cvc for installing and maintaining this cache.
That's a different container, half full of water so turned upside down. Merry Christmas and tftc
Headed off this morning to walk the Rattler Trail, 19.5km containing 75 caches. Happily we got them all. The day was nice for this trip with an overcast sky and lower temperatures. Most finds were nice and quick, some took a little longer and other's we had to repair with the CO's permission. Our walk took us a little longer than we thought it would, but we took care not to run into any snakes today. Saw a group of kangaroo's, which ran ahead of us for half a dozen caches.
This cache was a nice quick find. Replaced logbook. tftc

We have had the Rattler series on our "to do" list since the caches were first published but we have never been in the area for sufficient time to make a start. However we had a couple of days spare after completing the Gone Fishn' series on the Yorke Peninsula. So we decided to stay a couple of nights in Auburn and to make the Rattler our priority. With the likelihood of another hot day, we made an early start.
We broken the trail into a number of sections. Mrs y'stassie walked the first section whilst Mr y'stassie took the car to the start of the second section and started walking from there. When she arrived at the end of the first section (also the start of the second section), she took the car to the start of the third section and began walking from there, leaving the car for Mr y'stassie. In that way we halved the amount of walking.
Accurate coordinates and a logical hide location led to a quick find. However the container was full of water. Thankfully the logbook was in a sealed plastic bag and was only damp. We emptied out the water and dried the container before returning to the hide. Thanks cvc for the cache and the series.

Back to do some more of the Rattler trail, a bit windy and some light rain but will see how far I can get today.
Decided watching the GF was a waste of time so headed off on the bikes with Wal & Ol. TFTC!
After watching 3/4 of the Grand Final, decided some caching was a preferable way to spend the arvo! On the bikes with Pony1966. New log in. TFTC
Today Mr T tackled this series on a not so hot day with Roostaman. Enjoying the views and the changing country side, especially the vibrant colours of the canola fields that just went on and on, especially with the green backdrop of other paddocks. This was a highlight of this area making it a picturesque landscape. Most were easy finds at GZ, some a bit of a search, but a great day out.

Apologies for generic logs. Back to finish walking the Rattler trail, with Darkmoon31, picking up where we left off in May. A very early (6am) departure from home saw us ready to go from No26 at 7am heading out in a very brisk 3 degrees. Making our way down to Riverton we arrived in plenty of time to visit the local Market on today. If you get a chance to do this then try the hot apple juice - Delicious! Could not have asked for a nicer Winters day for caching with spectacular scenery along the way. The log in this is wet and needs replacing. Thank you for bringing us here.
Second half of the Rattler with Team Shandyk. Going Backwards again cause thats how we rattle and roll. Very late logging this section apologies to all! Apologies also that the logs will be the same all way through!

We've been driving past this cache trail for the last 18 months and with Mrs DISK away for the weekend , thought I'd finally make a start on this series today [:o)].
Well the time had finally come to unload the deadly treadly and with a bit of forward planning, decided to park at the old Rhynie station and ride back [8], before counting up the numbers again .
GPS had us in the middle of the track , so some lateral thinking was required . Ended up looking twice before I spotted it . TNLNSL.
Thanks again Cvc.

The old bike track has suffered a bit if water damage, managed to walk in to grab this one.
Mrs iluvtrekking and I dropped our geo-men off in Riverton to undertake the 44 klm cycle ride back to Clare. They spent 9 hours to complete the trail with a couple of dnf's along the way but marvelled at the scenery and had an awesome day. Thanks cvc
After dropping the GeoHubbies off in Richmond they peddled off into the morning mist. 9 hours and 40ks later they emerged in Clare sore but triumphant. Thanks to all concerned in placing this epic series of caches.
Our second day camped at Balaklava, and today we attempted the Rattler series.
Even though it was a hot day, we still managed to complete from 65 to 1, with 2 DNF's.
Most caches were located quickly, signed and replaced as found.
Many thanks for placing this series of caches, cvc, for us and others to find.

This was one of the Rattler Trail series visited today by myself with Bindi the geopooch, Andy Colombia and AussieM&M. The weather threatened and we did get some rain but it was fairly light. At Rattler#14 we located the hint and a rock next to it that would have covered the cache …. But nothing else. Having some containers from the CO we replaced this cache. We also replaced Rattler #48 ………… the previous hunter with over 20,000 finds couldn’t find it and after an extensive search neither could we! A great series and I still have a few to return to on my next visit to the area.
Out and about with CPwanderer and Team Andy Colombia. Did a lot of walks on some of the Rattler Series. Jan did most of the finding today. TFTC.
Another great find while in the area on holiday.

apologizing in advance for the generic logs. was in clare for the weekend to attend the events (my first events since becoming a geocacher) and I am now back logging. Many thanks for the caches was a really good weekend
The Rattler trail was the day's target. I rode with the checker crew, of firesafe, clare007, snappy tomcats, featherwaite and me. We brought up the rear and checked that the BABB was signed in every log. It was, and we could pick who got there first, plain BABB, BABB in green, BABB group, BABB crew. We were waiting for the BABB posse, collective or babble to turn up in the logs. . As usual it was a great day with plenty of laughs and we found your cache along the way. Thanks cvc.
Completed a very entertaining ride along the Rattler Trail with firesafe, clare007, SnappyTomCats and brisal5, checking that all caches were signed with BABB, and its miscellaneous variants. Thanks for the cache cvc!

An amazing weekend of laughs, smart aleck comments, wine, food and fun shared with a fantastic group of people!
Over the whole weekend of pushibke riding, caching and travelling I managed to attend 3 great events , find 128 caches and surprisingly even scored a FTF as my last cache of the weekend at almost 8pm on my way home Thanks for leaving 1, Freddo
Today as part of the group BABB, I rode the Rattler Trail and picked up all of these caches on this newish trail [^]
Definitely need to get 'saddle fit' as that seat sure isn't as comfy as my motorbike seat and on day two, it's even more painful despite all of my padding!
This is as good as it gets! Sharing the fun, and pain, with like minded people
This weekend, I've undertaken my biggest pushbike rides in about 30 years Sadly, I felt it today and was 'directed' to withdraw about halfway along the trail
However muggle partner arrived last night and so he kindly completed the whole ride today to ensure that I could claim the finds
His first bike ride in about 40 years, too! [^]
Apart from a strong head wind and rain which soaked the last few of the group for about 5 minutes, we had clear weather on both days and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
