Kalarranga Lookout1.5/2.5 Small Traditional Cache A heavy downpour in the area prevented us from finding this cache when we first planned, it was still a bit cooler then. We didn't take much notice of this cache as were aiming to get the other cache as it has an interesting d/t. Thank you for the cache The Rolling Frog. We enjoyed finding this cache. I could have seen this cache on my way up as I went under the Lizard's head while Bug went the other way. A very difficult and tricky placement. The views was amazing even on an overcast day.
TFTC! The path is not there anymore so you'll have to find your way to the GZ which is not at the right place... It's 4m away roughly.
After a wet start to the morning, we climbed up the other lookout first, then came up here to find the cache. What an awesome view and a good hunt! Fav point awarded!

Continuing our trip from Melbourne to Darwin and back, we are now on our way back home and spending a few days at Alice Springs to see the things we missed on the way up. Today we are heading out to Palm Valley for a visit and some walking.
Walked up to the lookout and then approached this one on the way back. There was a little more climbing than I anticipated but I found it in the end.
**Thanks for placing this cache The Rolling Frog**

We came up the old path after finishing the longer walk (great!) the lookout has been moved to another location we discovered when we checked the map at the bottom. Not sure if Parks is happy for people to scramble up here still! Found the cache eventually. TFTC
We have been travelling around this great country, calling into see many different places,
now is a quick chance on the computer to catch up with logs and to put some smileys on the map for where we have been.
Thanks to all the COs for some great finds.

We were camped at Palm Valley and did the walk up to this lookout. Great views from here. This is one of the more adventurous caches I have done. It took a while to work out where the cache was, and then there was the problem of retrieving it, as I am petite. Muggle husband came to the rescue and the log was signed and the cache returned to its place. This was fun.
A little late logging, found this one on a weekend camping trip.
This one needs to have the difficulty re-evaluated. Having to straddle rocks to reach the cache isn't a 1.5 rating. Mr tatts is 6'4 and still couldn't reach the cache from ground level.

As today is our third day in AS and we went out to the WestMac's as the locals call it. The hint helped Jac-Jam and I to find this one. TFTC.
Bumped into some fellow catchers while doing a mad dash to the lookout while my muggle friends returned to the car. Found it... TFTC!
Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks The Rolling Frog (F=432 H=21) for the cache.

We are travelling from Adelaide on a 4wd trip to Alice Springs. We have enjoyed the 4wd tracks in the NT. We did the look out walk and enjoyed the views.
Waiting for some Geocacher’s to join us, Micaparamedic and myself decided to fill in time caching. We firstly targeted some puzzles, and after some traditionals. When we met up with Team_Crumble we explored Palm Valley, and then headed to boggy waterhole to camp for the night. This cache was in a really interesting location. Thanks for placing the cache The Rolling Frog.
We spent a few days in Alice Springs an the Macdonell Nationalpark and go south to Coober Pedy. When we walked around, we look for same Geocaches. This is a Cache that we found on These days. Thank you very much for the Cache !

We are heading off on an outback adventure with Mrs Just a Trifle looking forward to visiting Goodward Station in Boulia, which was once owned by her grandfather, and Mr Just a Trifle hoping to climb Ayers Rock before it is permanently closed to climbing
As usual, with responsibilities caring for grand children and elderly parents, we still can not take the time we would really like to explore this great land of ours so yet again it is mostly an express trip through some terrific locations.
We had no difficulty in locating the cache and with our name added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you The Rolling Frog for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

This cache was searched and found during a group trip through Australia. Greetings from Belgium.
Flew up to Alice Springs for a conference, then met up with e.gregory1 for an epic road trip through the West MacDonnell Ranges, Mereenie Loop Rd, Kings Canyon, Luritja Rd, Ernest Giles Rd, Finke Gorge NP, Hermannsberg, Larapinta Drive, back to the Alice then down the Stuart Hwy to Adelaide, with awesome sights and great caches along the way. Thanks for the cache The Rolling Frog!
I met up with FeatherWaite in Alice Springs for a few days of travelling around caching after spending four days travelling up on my own from Adelaide,
We visited various places in the West Macdonnells, including Hugh Gorge, then went out to Kings Canyon, up the Finke Gorge track to Hermannsburg, into Palm Valley, then back to Adelaide, taking a week in all. We saw, and camped in some fantastic places, although the late September weather was a little warm!
After visiting Palm Valley the previous day and staying overnight at the park campground (enjoying the luxury of a hot shower), we climbed to the lookout first thing in the morning on our way out. Fantastic views!
Thanks The Rolling Frog for the cache. A favourite point from me.

After starting at the top of the West MacDonnell Ranges on this part of my great trip up the middle with a couple of muggle friends it was time to start heading down south.
Just picking up random caches while I can without upsetting them to much.
Spent a couple of days staying here at Palm Valley.
The walk up to the look out in the afternoon was spectacular with all of the colours.
A Fav goes out to you for the views.
Thanks The Rolling Frog TFTC.

One of the most incredible places I have been to! Arrived a couple of hours before sunset and walked into the pound to the central spire. Some truly awesome world class scenery in here. TFTC!!!!!
We've spent a couple of days here exploring the area. This was our last cache to find before heading off. The walk up was easy and once we reached the top it only took us a little bit of looking before we tracked down the cache. We just had to think where would we hide it.
The views from here are fantastic, it gives you a great outlook over the valley below.
We loved our visit to the area, happy to give it a favourite point.

Waited for rain storm to abate, good little climb and scramble. Wet rocks and vegetation against black sky. Glad we did this one.
We were not too sure where to look at first but found the box in its place, eventually. Good view from up here! @13:30

What an adventure getting here! We loved the drive up the valley. We spend the night at the campground and did this walk first thing in the morning. Beautiful views. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Today we explored Palm Valley picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. We enjoyed the view from the lookout and made a quick find using the hint and adding to our favourites.

Here I was visiting Palm Valley again for the second time in thirty years
So nice to see that they haven't upgraded the road [^]
You can escape the pesky backpackers out here
And surrounded by the peace,
quiet and solitude of some amazing scenery,
I looked out from on high
Wow !!
A bit later,
I snapped back into caching mode
Where is it ??
A bit of scrambling around later and I could see an unlikely spot for a cache.
But the 'geomarks' on the rocks told me that however unlikely,
that is where the cache was !! [:o]
Hmmm !!
How to get there ??
It was sorta like a game of 'Twister' to access the cache
Left foot on red rock !!
Right foot on orange rock !!
Right hand on red rock !!
Now twist around and left hand on cache
Ha ha ha !!
TFTC with a bit of fun at the end

Needed some flexibility to retrieve the cache. Awesome location and a good size cache deserves a favourite. Tftc
We had just finished a cracking stroll through the valley and were now on our way to Boggy Hole, but not before stopping off here for a short walk.
The stroll in was pleasant enough and soon enough the cache was found and we all scribbled our names in the log and then pulled some silly poses for photos up on top of the large boulder....and checked out the views.
Thanks for the nice cache.

A surprising terrain rating considering where this is located. Had only just approached GZ when geodazz popped up with the cache in hand. Should have been paying attention but the views where awesome. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Up and about early from our camp at the nearby campground, on our way further west after a lovely overnight stop in Palm Valley. A great short walk with spectacular views. Thanks for the hide.
As we start our journey home from Alice Springs with Geo/rge after attending the Red Centre Experience.
We are enjoying the sites and sounds that all the caches are taking us to.
After staying the night at the nearby camp ground and ventureing deeper into Palm Valley it is time to head for Uluru via the Mereenie Loop.
Thanks for the views and the cache. A quick find was made and the log signed.

Heading out of the valley after spending the night. We can't, of course, leave without grabbing this cache. We followed the path to GZ and, after a bit of a search, geoD came up with the hide. WE loved the views here so thanks for making us stop here.
It's now lunch so we are back to the campground to find some shade before heading for Boggy Hole.

The access track wasn't too bad although I did let my tyres down to 20 psi.
The walk from the car park yielded some magnificent scenery.
I accessed the cache from above/across the void, not sure whether I could have reached it from below.
Nevertheless, my name is in the log and I'm giving it a location based fav point.

A 4WD track that was challenging for me, enjoyed parts of it but the long stretches of soft sand were a bit scary. Made it here and walked up. Great views and the silence of the place was fantastic too.

Mr and Mrs Parrot are on a quest to attend the Alice Springs Event the Red Centre Experience.
This is one of the many caches we passed in our journey to Central Australia and back.
It is great to be on the road and we are loving looking for your caches.
What a truely fantastic cache I loved it.
It was even a bit of a challenge to find as my GPS was a bit away from where I found the cache.
Luckily I read a log mentioning that someone was glad they didnt have short legs as that changed my search area and I came up a winner.
Just wonderful. Loved the drive in.

This was a good hike up the hill to the lookout and then the muggles continued along further while it was time to look for a cache. The information given made the area easy to find but the interesting part was retrieving it as short legs don't help. Managing to get to the right level and balance there was a bit of a challenge but was successfully done. Stayed there until duties had been done and cache replaced then returned to the track to descend to the car park. Thank you to The Rolling Frog for placing this cache with great views from the lookout.
Hi there The Rolling Frog.
We found your cache **"Kalaranga Lookout"** at 2:44:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 14052.
Another day of our month long trek from Whyalla to Darwin. We have stopped in Alice for a week to meet up with a long lost cousin, and of course to find some geocaches.
Today's plan was to head out to Hermannsburg and Palm Valley -and of course to log any other caches we passed along our route. At the end of our cache run today we had found 5 & DNF'd 3.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around two metres from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Another fantastic place to take in the views

way into Palm Valley as there were quite a few
Muggles at the Lookout. Glad we did as we would
have missed the beauty of the scenery.

We found this cache on our Northern road trip, which was to celebrate my significant birthday. We saw some great places, met some wonderful people and slept through some 3 dog nights. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and finding caches made the trip more memorable – Thank you and ……Joy to the World!!
After camping the night nearby had no joy finding the cache. Great lookout though. A lot of rocks had been turned over so there has been other searches I think.
Made it here at Sunset with Barramundi - what a spectacular spot to view the area especially as the sun goes down. TFTC
