Great treats

The path to GZ was very slippery today so we made sure we walked carefully and were rewarded with no slips and a beautiful area to explore.
The cache was quickly located and we took some time to enjoy the view before heading back to the main path. Cache is nice and dry. TFTC.

15-Oct-17
Cool walk out to this one, and an interesting spot that we wouldn't have otherwise come out to explore if we weren't on the hunt for some treasure. Thanks for sharing the place with us Smile

14-Oct-17
Out in Sanders Reserve with Miss Davieland for some bike riding and caching. The downhill track was enjoyable but Miss D not so keen on the steep bits back up!! Nice quick find and a nice little walk down to GZ. TFTC and for bringing us here.

This weekend it was a chance to start working my way though parts of west Auckland in the company of Mr McC (McCuthan Cache Clan) so the plan was hatched (infact it was a plan from a few weeks before that had been canned due to unforseen circumstances) So now it was a chance to make the most of it.
Caches were signed in generally with MCD (or some variation there off). So off we set nice and early so as to hopefully keep ahead of the bad weather along with the Auckland traffic (which at that time of the morning when we passed through on our way north was most reasonable.
All in all we manged approx 70+ caches and still made it back to Hamilton by 4.30pm which I suspect was a surprise to our respective families.
Another well found cache for the day soon located the cache then the hunt begins for the next. This reserve was one of the targets fro the day and just hoping to get through it without the rain getting us
Nicely laid out cache

Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

Out with Cats&Dragons on a late night - early morning cache run. Logs were signed MCCD but may have varied a bit as tiredness settled in. Thanks for placing this cache and giving us a reason to visit

Thought we would check out this reserve today and pick up the caches in the area. Enjoyed a nice and lovely stroll around this quiet reserve that we had never visited before. The path down to the cache was quite spectacular looking here, and the views were once again lovely. A neat little spot, thanks for the hide.

12-Feb-17
Found another, with the help of an experienced geocacher. What a lovely spot. Thanks.

An afternoons caching out Sanders Reserve, no problems here, beautiful spot and thankfully we haven't done all the caches so we'll definitely come back again, thanks Glyn

29-Dec-16
This is such a beautiful spot! We have noted that we must come back for a picnic Smile an easy find. TFTC!

03-Dec-16
No one at all around this part of the reserve as we made our way along the point towards GZ. We decided we werent chancing riding along the narrow saddle so left the bikes at the top of the hill. The cache was quickly located and we watched some people cruising past in their boats before making our way back to the bikes. Thanks for showing us this location and TFTC!

04-Sep-16
Another amazing place we never knew existed!! Great camo too. So pleased we came out here today. TFTC

01-Sep-16
Out and about this afternoon for a spot of cache detection. Nice weather for it. After a drive around the country side I thought I would use my remaining time to get started on finding the caches in Sanders Reserve. I parked up in the middle car park with the intention of seeing how many caches I could find before my remaining caching time ran out. I decided to start with the southern caches and walk in a westerly direction. Another cool spot. Good fun getting to GZ and nice views once out at the point. Cache was found after a brief search. I am giving this one a fav point because I enjoyed multiple aspects of this cache, but also to acknowledge the effort gone into the other hides too. Cheers for the cache placement and a little adventure!

18-Aug-16
That is such a cool raised path leading out to the point. Another brilliant place to discover. TFTC

Out with 3 kid catchers... Very impressed with this awesome location!! Stunning

08-May-16
Out for the day with the kids geocaching around Sanders Reserve for Mother's Day. This was a nice peaceful corner of the park, but I was just a bit wary of the kids near the cliff edge Wink The cache was quite exposed so I tried to re-hide it a bit better. It seems some muggles may have found it and replaced it due to some interesting drawings in the log book which I'm sure a geocacher wouldn't have done Wink TFTC!

Moin,
a nice place, but not found! Greetings from Germany

Trying out the bike trails and caching with Bennett24. Had to leave the bikes and walk out to this one but it was worth it! TFTC

01-Feb-16
Out with some of my Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew- our collective caching name) buddies, taking advantage of the public holiday today! We decided to head out here to bike around the reserve, as it was one place where we all had plenty of unfound caches- and those places are getting harder to find!!! A lovely morning, although very hot! We enjoyed our ride and finding these caches!
All logs signed as SEAC.

Yup, as the others have very kindly (not) mentioned, I fell off my bike (twice) on the way to this one! I blame the bike- I've had issues with it from the moment I got it. Luckily, no injuries resulted and I found it as funny as everyone else!
We got to GZ eventually, it was a lovely walk, and we wished we were swimming at one of the beaches instead! Mrs NZTravellers, being the one who found the cache, had another moment of amusement here, luckily not just at me this time- she found the cache while the rest of us, unknowingly, continued to hunt a few steps away. Laughter and fun abounded for this one..... this is what I love about caching with friends!

TFTC!!!

01-Feb-16
Was out with part of Team SEAC and we really enjoyed these bike trails. Will have to come back I think. All logs signed as “SEAC”

And a great way to spend my birthday 

01-Feb-16
Restored after lunch in the shade, we headed down to this cache via a not so direct route. Much merriment was had when NewLynfam KO'ed off the bike into the long grass, not once, but twice! we definitely came down the wrong way via a higher graded MTB track! Oh well, nothing like a little adventure! Walked the last part to GZ and looked on longingly at locals swimming at the two beaches. MrsNZT made this find while everyone hunted in the wrong location, "how long should I let them hunt do you think?" TwistedTwistedTwisted Loved the location, gets a fav from us! TFTC!

01-Feb-16
A group of us decided to spend some time biking and picnicking in this reserve as it is a little way from our normal area of caching and allowed us to get a number of caches with out to much travelling between. A very pleasant day with some cool caches. A good day was had by all involved. The journey to this cache from the last involved some walking (and falling off Newlyn Fam) of our bikes as we probably didn't take the easiest route but oh well all part of the adventure. At GZ it was back to the overlooking the obvious that had afflicted some of the group today. Mrs NZT was tempted to let them continue the fruitless hunting but couldn't resist a cheeky comment. Cool camo here. Amazing spot. Signed as SEAC

I had been here before. I let Josie go for a swim to get the mud off her. Followed her in to cool myself off. Thanks.

27-Dec-15
We were still chatting about the cool tree we had just been to as we walked our way up to this one when unexpectedly out in front of us opened up another incredible vista in another awesome spot. The cache itself was in a very open spot and was very visible so we made sure to cover it up well

03-Dec-15
Woohoo home time Smile thanks for the cache

18-Nov-15
Walking sanders reserve the a peaceful time..during the weekday. I had heard this area around Gz was nice, once again big wow. I've not seen a beach layout like this before, it's stunning and very different. Be back for a late afternoon picnic I think..and for a nice summer swim perhaps. I had a bit of a search for this one, and found cache in good order Thanks!

27-Oct-15
Yep that has to be a fav..for the location...particularly in this late afternoon "feels like summer" evening,... just a shame there was no buckets of food along with us.. would have been a perfect spot for consumption! Awesome spot.. gonna be back here very soon with a heard of muggles and cachers in tow its so worthy... Looks like the container has been partly muggled by what looks like a young male with the predictible drawings... on every page... hmmm...

18-Oct-15

Joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 this afternoon, with the main goal of clearing these caches out at Sanders Reserve. After parking the car in the main car park we then walked our way around the reserve locating all of the caches, except for one! Another nice spot and another quick cache find! TFTC!

07-Jun-15
Met with Vistra at lunchtime and headed out to these caches picking up a couple on route, these had been on my list since they came out as they are on the fringe of my map. It was a relatively nice afternoon (weatherwie) for a walk around the park and we made short work of the caches.

Another lovely point and we quickly had the cache in hand, this would be beautiful when the sun was shining and full tide.

Decided to put some air in the tyres of the MTB and head on out here. Loved all the hides, all very well done Glyn, thank you for putting such effort into the camos, you should be made a Sir.

All the rest are copy pastes, but you can be certain I loved my journey around the park today - and it didn't even rain!

Lovely clear, sunny autumn morning greeted us today so after Kiwiscot had been packed of to school Scotty & Kiwi decided a walk around Sanders Reserve would be a good idea.
Another beautiful spot even at low tide. We are really enjoying our walk around the park today and we have the perfect weather for it. Our last visit was wet & wild. TFTC

16-May-15
After some afternoon fun at the 4WD Park I decided to collect some geocaches around the Sanders Reserve till sunset. Enjoyed my walk to GZ. TFTC

14-May-15
Some work commitments got rescheduled or cancelled today so what to do? Hmm.. Find a few caches perhaps? I don't usually like cut / paste template logs but when I'm out on a 'cache' trail I will make a bit of an exception. My first time at Sanders Reserve and I really enjoyed my walkabout. Weather held out long enough for me to find all the caches here. End of the line for walking in this direction. Really nice terrain and I think I found the cache in the second place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.

13-May-15
After the rain yesterday I had cabin fever so needed to get out and about in the fresh air. Wow, great views from here. I had a couple of frisky dogs chasing around me on my way to this, they'd obviously raced well ahead of their muggle owner as there was no one in sight. A quick walk to the end and a nice easy find. Thanks for bringing me to this awesome reserve.

10-May-15
Wow, what a great spot, tide was in and great views too! Thanks for bringing us to this place. Tftc

Smile Found while out for a bit of a mountain bike day with Mrs McMike2012 ... we thought we'd come over & check out the tracks at Sanders Reserve ... and doing a few caches at the same time ... this being the 2nd of 17 for the day ... really liked the location of this one, walking out along the ridge to locate the cache ... the cache was easily found & quickly replaced ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... #881 for us.

Only muggles today were on the boat heading for Sunday lunch at Riverhead. TFTC

11-Apr-15
Tide was full so lots of people around boating fishing, and playing with their jet-skis.Logging the cache now we saw the warning about the cliffs. Had these pegged as we got close and we stayed well away from the edge however always the temptation to get close while searching.

08-Apr-15
really enjoyed the walk out to the point... beautiful beaches both sides and the quiet water - all part of why I love NZ so much. T4tc

Time to do a bit of exercise after sitting in the car the other day doing park and grab caches, with the exception of one.

I remember coming here before to do a cache but can't see it in my found list.

Cheers for the cache.

Had spotted this little peninsular while on the ferry up to the pub, wondered where it was, now i know. Cache was a easy one. As i was about to make my way back the wind picked up something amazing. Glad I had finished signing the log or it probably would have disappeared. And with this rain came some torrential rain. Suited up in all my wet weather gear, while staying out of the sideways rain by standing behind the tree. And as quick as it came it was gone. left huge puddles in it wake.

28-Mar-15
N o probs with the find-had the place pretty much to ourselves today-tftc

25-Mar-15
After work we took a walk to Pare's Pair of Beaches to pick up our last 3 unfound Sanders Reserve caches. We remember doing a similar walk to the previous cache back in our first months of caching in 2009. At that time the Reserve was no more than empty paddocks. We were impressed with the location of the cache at that time, so we were keen for a re-visit. And it was just as magical a spot as we remembered. A fun walk out along the little ridge between the beaches, the ground covered in pine-needles, the huge old trees, and of course the views. Giving this one a favourite point for its location. The cache was a straightforward find. Thanks for the reason to re-visit.

23-Mar-15
Gorby never sleeps!

23-Mar-15
As good as this reserve is, I have to say this spit is probably the highlight of the whole area. Awesome walk towards GZ, and the twin beaches are very cool to look at as you go past. No dramas with the hide, and worth a stop for a minute or two to admire the scenery. TFTC

23-Mar-15
My last cache for this very early morning! I walked down to the beach, tide was right out, then had to make a sharp right hand turn to ascend the cliff face to get to the right tree. Should have stayed on the peninsular. Cache was soon in hand though to make this the last of 6 FTF's this morning. Thanks again G for the series and very soon I will be back in the day time to gather the rest up that came out earlier on. Now, where is that car of mine... time for some slee.....p , zzzzzzz

Cool FTF#92 Cool
