Thanks for the cache Bluewren88, no luck today but I had a nice walk along the river which I otherwise would not have known about. Another benefit of Geocaching.

DNF last night... I found the spot where I expected it, but only found a coffee cup. Not sure if the floods have had something to do with it not being there? I would love if CO could check!
Easy find but fun. Little frog sitting on top of lid. Container broken has a hole in it.
Found it nice spot to hide it and fun to do. Also there's some cool ropes to swing off into the river!
Had an absolute ripper time paddling down the Goulburn this morning and was so sad to eventually have to exit the river, but the day was heating up fast, and we would have had to paddle many more kilometers before we saw another cache. Dalerious ordered a taxi to go back and get our car, which left me with time on my hands, so there was nothing else to do but look for the closest caches around me. I was so glad I decided to, even though I wasn't really dressed for a walk in long grass; still donning boat shoes and bathers, but the temptation was there and I took it. It was serene walking along the rivers edge, seeing where we had just come from. I was watching out for snakes, and came up on some very quiet cows with calves. The biggest surprise of all was finding a pathtag in each cache. My walk in the long grass and heat paid off. Thank you bluewren88 for providing these caches.
Couldnt find it i think its on a private property and we turned back because there may be bulls in there aswell
A quick find with frmen1 (who conveniently brought along a rod). All good with contents. TFTC
Nice and easy find with tassie expat while exploring this great area. A slow careful walk through the long grass in case of wrigglers but I also had a few casts, just in case, you never know. Thanks for placing this cache.
After failing to find this on a previous search, today I walked straight up to it, and it was obvious. Sometimes I disappoint myself! Oh well! It's all signed and I have another smiley face on the map. No fishermen along here today either.
Thanks bluewren88.

The final day of our annual caching blitz. What a superb area thanks for sharing. Amazing how when you have a whole river bank a couple of muggles have to sit at GZ. Plenty of stealth used and muggles none the wiser. Tftc
Me, Jan and my grandson Matty went to the river to have a swim - better to say Matty went for the swim. I took the chance to find the cash, which I know it is not far. Hunt were succselful. TFTC
I came here with the kids for them to brave the cold water and try some fishing. It wasn’t exactly hot but that didn’t stop them. In the meantime I took the opportunity to find this geocache. It was quite easy and the short stroll along the river was really lovely. It’s a great spot, thanks for showing me around. TNLN, TFTC
Magnificent spot on a sunny spring morning. Had to carefully remove the frogs sitting on the GC lid (and then put them back again). TFTC

Well ..... great trip to Alexandra - just attended the welcome evening .... now to find a few more caches. We pulled up as another team arrived and thankfully, they helped my caching buddy through the fence - geocachers are just the best. Great location, beautiful evening walk .... the nearby bird scarer went off loudly and I very nearly ........ mmmmm enough information. TFTC
Kato Potato and I were dashing around Alexandra grabbing as many caches as we could after the Show and Shine. We found the nearby lab cache and walked onto this one with the intention of continuing to the further cache but a gun was shot incredibly close to us and we freaked out and left. Not the nicest experience but not the cache's fault. Thanks bluewren88
Our third day caching as the GOTHs, Geocachers of the Hills, made up by the following teams, Bushfire, Aussie M & M, mogni, Team Astro, brisal5 and 6hinemoa2. Our aim was to try to clear out caches in various spots and we had a special goal for good friend Lawrie, aka Bushfire, we wanted to bust his record of caches found in one day. This meant a desperate attempt on doing as many caches as we could on Mount Desperation, aiming to hit 200 in a day which is not my best day. So many power trails in SA do that for you. It was all about Lawrie today. Some interesting spots were found, got close to the river, and some amazing views. Thanks for the hides.
We wer exhausted after this day and half a night, had dinner at MacDonalds on the Hume Hwy somewhere in Victoria.... Only would do this for Lawrie. Thanks again, all cache owners.

Staying at Alexandra after the event, today we tackled few caches within the area and this was one of them.
Cache and contents were in excellent condition. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Today was Alexandra Mega day: all the fun and excitement of seeing many SA geocachers, some of whom I haven't seen for a long time now! Oh right, I'm in Victoria so I guess I should say all the fun and excitement of seeing all the Australia wide geocachers gathered here to make the most of the cameraderie [^], the fun gadget caches , the great views and sights around Alexandra and the fun of finding geocaches [^]
My grateful thanks to all of those who put so much time and effort into this event and also all of the caches around the area which added to the fun, especially the Trout geoart, the gadget and the lab caches [^][:X] Although I did totally forget to log the lab caches
Special thanks also to the wonderful spidermonkeyAU who arrived bearing DONUTS! [:X] I spent the majority of the weekend with Clare007 and hevwalker and shared lots of laughs [:X] it was good to once again cache with a car full of geocachers who find every cache that they drive near and the fun on the Saturday night while getting cache after cache was something I have missed since being in Victoria. ADI, firesafe, RideTheGeoWalrus and Hurtle made that night a pleasureable and tiring outing since we finished after 1am
Sunday was supposed to be Show and Shine day but somehow, in a variety of ways, that got sidetracked and never completed and so Sunday afternoon was a trip to Mt Disappointment to do some of the remaining caches there, accompanied by the GOTHS + 2
Then it was back to Alexandra to swap Harry for the Corolla as muggle partner had driven the Corolla over for me to take to Melbourne for a week of training as Harry wouldn't fit in the car park at the hotel
ADI and I then drove to Melbourne where we parted ways, having just had the only DNFs of the weekend on that trip down
Due to a very late night at work Friday , an even later night after I arrived in Alexandra due to a friend having an incident with an immovable object (insert 'wombat') and hence a late start to the morning [)] there was only a total of 117 caches found, 3 fun events attended and 3 DNFs over the weekend.
As I'm now 3 months behind in my logging I am desperately trying to catch up and am mass logging to do so.

Cruising around town with Mummy Short Legs following our participation in the Alexandra MEGA event show and shine and collecting the local caches (along with everyone else!). Having found the nearby lab cache we wandered along to this one, keeping a close eye out for snakes given the very warm afternoon. Found this one with ease and were signing the log when a huge gunshot boom rang around us! Scared us out of our wits for a second because it sounded so close by. No sign of anyone or anything nearby but we were sufficiently anxious that we avoided moving on for the next in this series, instead hightailing back to the car. Shame! It was a lovely spot to see. First day of the MEGA weekend and a chance to grab the caches around the Eildon area including the Fish Geoart. TFTC.
After a pick up of a lab and traditional in the area this was the last before moving on.
Stood and watched a couple of kayakers enjoying a lazy paddle downstream.
Signed the log and was on the way again.

This is our fourth trip to the northern island this year. The first three were primarily for family events but with some opportunities to do some caching along the way. The fourth trip is different as caching is our focus. After getting off The Spirit of Tasmania we are heading north to cache at Wangaratta and then Yass before heading into the ACT and Queanbeyan for a week. After that we will travel to Jindabyne for a few days with summiting Mount Kosciuszko being our main target for this part of our trip. Then we will visit Cooma and Tumut before heading back down the track through Wangaratta and Mansfield as we make our way to Alexandra for the MEGA. After the weekend we will continue to make our way south and back onto the Spirit of Tasmania for the “drive” across Bass Strait. We are really looking forward to three weeks of intense caching in great areas and, hopefully, catching up with some geocachers in each of the areas we will visit.
Today was the second day of the Alexandra Event or MEGA. Again we joined others at the Showgrounds early in the morning to catch up on what happened yesterday and what was in the offering for today. We then headed out to cache in the area again. As we had completed the Trout geoart series yesterday, our focus for today was completion of the gadget caches and any other caches that we would come across during the day. In the late afternoon we returned to the Showgrounds for the final presentations – an excellent way to end a great MEGA event.
As we arrived at the starting point to walk to this cache we wondered if it was safe to do so as we heard what we thought was a gun shot not too far away. They there was another and another. The frequency and pattern then suggested to us that the noise may be coming from a bird deterrent device in a nearby orchard. So we set off. After a short walk, accurate coordinates and the obvious hiding spot led to a quick find. the cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks bluewren88 for the cache and for bringing us to this lovely area.
***** We are currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. On 1 September 2017 our average was 86 which seems close to the 100 target. However given that we have found so many GC caches, we have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get our average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that we can strive to attain this challenge. After 598 caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 99.7. We are nearly there and should make it before this current trip comes to an end in a couple of days time. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Headed down to Victoria with steeba and Hoojar to be part of the 3rd Victorian Mega celebrations in Alexandra. Our 3-day leave pass ensured we’d be constantly on the go! From 300 finds in the Mt Disappointment area to 10 different cache types there was never a dull moment.
After our busy day of yesterday it didn't take us long to be back in the stride. Today was all about different cache types. This saw us travelling all over Victoria, from a webcam at Mt Buller to a virtual in the CBD we certainly clocked up the kilometres, but we achieved our goal of 10 types in a day.
Thanks to all the cache owners who contributed to a great 3 days caching with my fellow caching buddies. My apologies about the template style log, it certainly doesn’t detract from the thrill of the ‘find”.

MEGA ROAD TRIP - Alexandra Mega 2017 that is. : Day 4: GOTHS go here, there almost everywhere. [8)]
GENERIC LOGS: With Literally Hundreds of caches found during our stay anything specific to this cache will be found near the start HERE: [8] [8] [8] Nothing here means it was found quickly, the cache had no issues and we moved on!
We had wandered down here to do one of the lab caches. Only a small walk further on and we had our names in this log as well.
We had all come together for the Alexandra event at a lovely farmstay just outside the township. Mrs. Aussie M&M, Astro and I from Adelaide, mogni from Mt. Gambier, Bushfire from Geelong and 6hinemoa2 from Bachus Marsh. We would be filling up log books just putting our names in them so we searched for an anagram from our caching name initials. The best we could find was BATHMATs. [B)] Good grief. So we settled on GOTHS = Geocachers Of The HillS as we all lived on a hill of one type or another. [:o)] We didn't just 'turn up' and cache. Many months of planning and puzzle solving went on before we made our way over and so we had some target caches and series to have a go at. Today was the Fish GeoArt series - and anything else that was nearby in our travels. Once again the planning by the mega committee and to local cachers made our stay fantastic. [^][^]

Thanks for the cache.
We could see this area was busy so had left it a couple of times before but this time we didnt just drive passed, we followed geotrail to GZ and soon had the cache in hand.
After agreeing to go to my first mega with Goose of Gooseandegg it was soon clear it was to be a big trip to the mainland from Tassie, after both our wives declined to join us for the trip we started our planning picking out a few caches that we should work on before we headed over Bass strait, puzzles and wherigos were where we needed to start.
Many many hours were spent on puzzles and getting ourselves to locations so we could work on a couple wherigos took its toll on our cars and in my case my body.
Three weeks before the Mega me and Mrs SSRat were out caching in the northwest of Tasmania, and I fell and broke some ribs so for a bit the Alex trip was in doubt, in the end the trip was on but tree climbs were out of the question.
In the end we had a great long weekend finding some great caches and filling in couple of missing dates for our calendar’s, thanks to all the CO's for putting and maintaining all the caches we found.

Gill&Tony, Muppet95 and I came out this way to tackle the gadget and lab caches during a break in Mega festivities. We had missed this one when in the area for the lab cache so stopped in on the way back. An easy find but the sun and heat was really blazing down. TFTC!
Coming all the way from Norway to attend the Mega-event in Alexandra. I'm so glad I did, this is the absolutely best Mega-event I've ever been to!!! Usually I love to be on events and get to know new geocachers, because they are always friendly, but it seems like they are extra friendly and nice here in Australia!! After only 1 day, I feel like I know almost everyone here:-) It's hard to find words for explaining how good the lab-caches were, I've never seen anything like it before, absolutely amazing-all of them!!! I also attended a few puzzle-lessons, which were great, I really needed to learn how to solve puzzles. I cannot believe that the event was free, and that we even got free bbq-food. Lots of nice prizes and awards, the day couldn't have been any better. Thank you all for making this happen!!
About this cache:
Found this one while we were already in the area to solve a lab-cache. Lots of people here, so it was a quick find:-) Got to know a few more cachers here also, very nice. Tftc

In town for the Mega and with a Lab cache nearby completed, we took the opportunity to walk down and grab this one. Actually, there were that many of us we didn't need to search as the cache was in someone else's hand! Log book signed. A beautiful part of the river.

With 3 million geocaches on the planet, we've chosen yours to find. You should be thanking us!

we came here for the Lab cache but another cacher mentioned there was another cache further down so we walked down and made a quick find while we were here. TFTC
What a beautiful spot along the river! I was out with Phetlern to find some of the lab caches and other caches in the area. Had a great time walking along the river to find the lab and two traditional caches. It was fun to run into other geocachers along the way. My first visit to Alexandra and Victoria. I'll definitely want to come back to explore more of Australia! Thanks for the cache!
On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.
We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.
Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.
Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.
We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.
We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.
We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.
Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.
Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!
Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.
Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.
Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

The idea of going down to Victoria and to the Alexandra Mega was original floated by Steeba. Normally Megas are not something that I am super keen to attend, but the opportunity of also collect some serious numbers on the Mount Disappointment caching trail, and finding some Lab Caches really helped to sweetened the deal. I was in, along with my long time caching buddies Steeba and The Rats.
We left Wollongong at 8pm on Thursday evening, returning at 5pm on Sunday, 2,500km and over 400 cache finds later. With less than a handful of DNFs, a wonderful result!
Highlights of the trip included:
- Finding over 330 caches on Friday, the entire Mount Disappointment trail;
- Finding ten unique cache types on Saturday, which included a drive to both Mount Buller for a Web Cam, and then back for a late night Melbourne CBD visit for a Virtual;
- Meeting up with a few local Wollongong cachers in Alexandra;
- Setting two new personal records, for my most cache finds and cache types in a day;
- The always good company and banter of Steeba and The Rats;
- Seeing six echidnas, and a koala (my first sighting of a koala on the ground in the wild); and
- The absolute highlight of the trip was watching Sir The Rats be inducted into the Australia Geocaching Hall of Fame (or maybe the jokes that Steeba and I had over the weekend over the honour!).
Thanks to all of the cachers that hid caches for us to find over our short trip away. I have little doubt in thinking that we will be back to these parts again at some stage to find more caches!
Cheers

Found during our Weekend trip to The Alexandra Event MEGA.
The day was quite hot even with a short storm and shower thrown in and the caching was magnificent.
The standard of caches around this area is really really high.
Thank you for the placing of this cache.
Just a beautiful location.
