On the hunting trail with SeasonedBird while on a slow roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. A quick find here. A couple of caching days planned in and around Rubyvale, Sapphire and a chance for Mrs Geo to hit the gem fields. It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Had to do a 3/4 loop to find this one, thanks for another cache grannysmith1947.
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 133. Emerald to The Gemfields. After a great week of caching around Emerald, I headed an hour down the road to do the caches around Sapphire and Rubyvale. I left th can in Sapphire and ventured on to visit several roadside caches and a great hill climb for an Earth cache. I finished with a failure in the cemetery, oh well.
Having done the other welcome sign, I looked for something similar and was happy not to have to spend too long tuning stones to make the find.
Thanks for the cache grannysmith1947

I’m off on my annual 6 week adventure and it is back to Outback Queensland to finish off what I started last time but got interrupted along the way.
It is nice and quiet on the roads this morning and I’m now in QLD and the weather can only get better to what Melbourne is at the moment.
After a beautiful couple of days at Carnarvon Gorge it was time to head to Anakie for a couple of nights.
Arrived at Anakie then set up the van so now it is off to explore the area as much as I am able to do so.
My trip has turned pear shaped as my knee has gone and so there is now very little walking so if you saw someone hobbling around that was probably me.
Continuing on with my caching tour of Sapphire and Rubyvale and what an interesting place to visit.
Another welcome sign but this is at the other end of town which means I must be now headed to Rubyvale.
Thanks grannysmith1947 TFTC.

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.
Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Interesting terminology, usually we find welcome to. This was a nice quick find. Thanks for the cache.
We are zig zagging our way north with micaparamedic, Papi4506 & Geoturtle37 and after staying at Blackall we are heading towards the Lab caches in Emerald via Barcaldine to grab a few solved puzzles there.
We had spent the night in Sapphire as the sun had set by the time we had finished the Rockhound trail. Today we were having a more leisurely day
As we have said before we have visited many "Welcome to" signs since we started geocaching but this is the first "Welcome from'-:)
Coming or going it was a nice sign that made a good location to hide a cache. Being tail end Charlie by the time we got to gz the cache had already been located and the log book now contains our names.
Many thanks again for the cache.

Tomorrow we start driving to Rockhampton.

A nice simple find. Love the town name signs. Very classy
Today we decided to have a look around the gem fields, and grab a few caches as we go of course. We are staying at Emerald and love the names the towns around here. Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire-what more can a girl want!
Were we come from there’s gold in them thair hills, and we have spent many a weekend camping and sitting in freezing streams (snow melt!) panning for the elusive yellow streak. We always manage to find some, but never enuf to pay for the diesel it takes to drive there! Lucky we love it, and the fun times we have with family and friends.
Thanks to the COs for developing and maintaining these caches for us to find. We appreciate your efforts.

Out and about around the Gem fields of Sapphire and Rubyvale, if you were not driving in the car the iimpression you get from looking around the humpies, is your are back in a time of less sophistication, piles of dirt and rocks and makeshift abodes of sheet iron, 44gal drums and anything else they could get to built a shelter to give them some cover from the elements.

Visiting the Gem fields today to do some fossicking and catching up on some caches while here. TFTC
A morning out to log the remaining half of the trads and the multi at the Gemmies. Just RoddyC’s Earth Cache to go on another day.
Pretty quick find here. Log was full and damp so left a new one, but it's only small so will have to try to get out there again soon to put something more substantial there.

Out in our bikes early to beat the heat. Enjoying biking around Sapphire as so many interesting relics TFTC
Well that was interesting. H got out of the car and started circling. T was writing a previous log. Once T got out she went the other way and stopped at a likely spot. Not wanting to take away from H's meticulious hunting she just stood at a likely spot. However he found it before he reached her. Once log was signed he moved on to her spot and low and behold there was a cache there as well. So we signed both logs. TFTC x 2
Heading home now from our western trip through Cunnamulla, Blackall, Longreach and Barcaldine with a night now in the Gemfields to pick up the caches around there.
A nice diversion from the sometimes monotonous driving.
Welcome.

Apologies for the late log.
Day ten of my outback Queensland trip and the plan today is to arrive in Emerald by night time, via the towns of Jericho, Alpha, Sapphire, Rubyvale and Anakie. Continuing with my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day and collecting a few more for the day. I do have a list of caches that I do want to collect along the way and probably some extras as I see fit.
Caching on my own again and am enjoying the time and adventures that comes with that. Though most of the caches were easy finds, some did give me a smile and I saw some familiar name in the logs, was I following?
This cache was an easy find and in good condition. With the log signed and cache returned as found, it was onto the next one. Thank you for placing it here, I really enjoyed the drive around this area today.
