Travelling Auckland to Napier and, of course, caching along the way despite the rain. A nice quick find. TFTC.
#5074. Had a short but enjoyable stay in Auckland. Now its time to head home to Wellington for Christmas. But first another mission. My DGSC bulk find challenge concludes on Boxing Day and by then I will be trying to find up to 200 caches to bring up 1500 qualifying finds this year. So have three full on days of geocaching before arriving home. I stayed overnight in Te Aroha so I could visit the old timer cache 101 today. Then heading south via the Napier-Taupo Rd and staying overnight in Hastings so I can have a big day out in southern Hawkes Bay/ Wairarapa on Friday. Was able to park close by and an almost instant find here. Log signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache nzkites.
I found this cache along with a small group of secondary school students (SJCgeocamp) who were finding Geocaches as part of their camp week. They visited Huka falls, Taupo, Napier, Hastings and Te Mata Peak over four days. We went swimming hiking, and biking and found a wide range of geocaches ranging from traditionals, puzzles, Earthcaches, gadget caches, and the boys favorites-night caches. My hope is that because of their experience they decide to continue Geocaching as a hobby in the future. Thank you to all the CO’s who placed and maintained all the geocaches we found and for bringing us to so many interesting spots.
On the way from Taurangi to Napier we could also find and log this cache. Thanks and greetings!

Greetings from Australia, we were visiting the area and as we headed through exploring we managed to make a couple of stops to see if we could add some smiles, log signed and replaced as found Thanks for the cache and the fun
What a good reason to stop and stretch the legs, unfortunately we can't put any along the drive as not being locals. We took a great pic of the landscape before signing the log and replacing safe and sound as found. Thanks to the COs for the cache. Hi from Australia, cheers Kookacrew
Had my last big work event on in Havelock North last night. Made a plan for a day's caching lying in bed this morning and decided to take a leisurely long route back to the Manawatu. I'd already done half of the Napier-Taupo caches from the other end, so today i decided to cache from the Napier end to see if I could get the rest.
Another quick find here today. signed log and back into the car to head towards the next one. TFTC

Got this one on the way down to Napier. A couple of cars parked as we came into the stop but luckily they were well back from the cache and busy with checking there horse float. Nice to stop but good to get back into a warm car. TFTC
#9259. Stopped for another stretch while travelling along the Thermal Explorer Highway (State Highway 5) in Te Haroto on a rainy day. A large articulated lorry was parked in the picnic layby when we arrived, but it soon left. Apart from passing traffic, GZ was then all quiet. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

On our way home after a couple of days caching around Napier. Another one for Mrs S. It's not often you can look down on fog. The valley below was filled.
Thanks nzkites.
Thanks nzkites.
Gps was pretty poor here so had to go by geo sense. It was pretty miserable here and we were wishing we had stayed in Napier. Thanks for the placement NZkites.

Heading to Weka Point Campground for the inaugural Waitangi Weekend Campout. Luckily I managed to hitch a ride with some passing by Aucklanders as they stopped for coffees and cake and managed to squeeze into the back of the vehicle without them even noticing. Thanks Alpenmilch80 and Evilno9 for the lift. After a lot of delays with coffees, accidents, Huntly attractions and more traffic we decided to ignore the 'nearby' caches and only turned on the GPS once through Taupo. Logs signed as Team Shocker
Divded up and conquered here, soon found the right spot to search. Thanks for the hide

On a road trip with 11hpg11 & evilno9 with the end goal to spend the long weekend at the Weka Point Campground BBQ event. Quick jupp in/out of the car to get this one off the list. In case I signed the geocache for us it was signed with Team Schocker! TFTC
Travelling to the outskirts of Napier today with alpenmilch80 and 11hpg11, otherwise known as team Shocker for this weekend's activities - stopped in here quickly and wasn't long before we had the cache in hand and we were back on the road again. Nice area - TFTC
Day 12 of our North Is trip, and today we are travelling from Taupo to Havelock North where we will be spending 2 nights.
We liked the sound of this cache as our tummies were rumbling for our lunch. With the picnic table, it looked ideal, so we found the cache, did the paperwork then had our lunch here. Always appreciate cache stops with great off road parking. Thanks, nzkites.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A cross country adventure. We are working our way down to a CITO event in Napier this afternoon...
We pulled alongside a couple enjoying a tea break. It was quite blustery up here, and cold. I made a beeline for the rubbish bin while Gap retrieved the cache. We used our stealth powers to do the business without drawing the attention of our neighbours... TFTC.

Day 10 of our Mega Roadtrip. Another very quick find and we wondered why all the Mega traffic didnt stop and find this one aswell. There was a bunch of batteries only about a metre away from the rubbish bin - I hope this wasnt geocachers. Anyway we CITOed them the rest of the way to the bin. Thanks for placing the seed and of course the smilie
Part of my post Mega drive around places I haven't previously visited. Thanks for the caches.
04/09/16 14:30 After a coffee & a toasted sammy at the prior cache, this was a matter of parking, grab & sign. Thanks for the excuse to stretch. Cheers, GC.
Beautiful day, great view.. Heading north to Taupo. Quick stop Kid found it very quickly.
It was quite easy and quick to find but that was probably due to how windy and cold it was! Great hiding place.
Crickey it was so cold and wet my fingers had trouble holding the pen to sign the log. I was glad it was a quick find cos I wasn't too keen on spending much time out in the weather. TFTC
We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun. Thanks for placing the cache.
On my way home to Hastings from visiting family in Te Puke. Took this opportunity of finding some caches. Nice spot to have a bite to eat and watch the traffic go by. TFTC Cheers.
Stopped for this one before but always someone parked at the wrong spot. Quick find. TFTC
This one was barking at us so we quickly twigged and logged it
Yes it was good to branch out and leaf the driving for a few minutes, thankyou.

We stopped here to search for this cache in October last year, but there were muggles sitting in their car very near to the cache. No-one about at 11pm as we headed home to hawkes bay after a weekend in Auckland, so a quick find tonight. Treasure hunting Tim spied it first. Tftc
Banian and I found this cache on our autumn northern roadtrip- where we did a circuit of the north island from Wellington right up to Raglan, then across to Napier through Taupo, before heading home, finding masses of caches and discovering a plethora of unique and interesting locations.
Good to break the monotony of the trip. TFTC

#1981. Quick find in obvious spot. All good at GZ. Thanks for the cache and the smilie.
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
Now the second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Here we go: Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to nzkites for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

A day off of work today so a chance to join in the festivities that are the Art Deco Festival but first a nice quiet trip over a a chance to streatch the the legs (of course that was the reason for the stop) and while I'm stopped oh I may as well grab this nearby cache.
Quickly located and we were on our way once again
thanks for the cache and the convienent placement

#9905, Found it with DroidCachebox!
We visited this cache during our trip through out New Zealand!
With our rental car, we explored the north island for 12 days.
NZ is a beautiful country and we really enjoyed our time here.
We hope to return one day and explore a little bit more!
Day 3 - Tongariro National Park to Napier
During the morning we explored a little bit of the national park, did the hike to Taranaki Falls and some other small hikes too; after that we continued our way to the lake Taupo, and our day ended in Napier. It was a long day, but we visited many interesting places!
Thanks for the cache.

Heading home with EIR-0T from visiting my sick Grandmother in the Bay and had the need for a quick stop to check the load on the roof rack, so chose a cache stop area... Pulled into GZ and decided on a likely spot and made the find in the second place of looking.
Love the views along this road as they change constantly, but today was not for views as the cloud was low and rainy.
