Well we found it (clever hide) and retrieved it, but were not able to open it. Even with TOTT! If only we'd packed a blow torch. Some onlooking sheep complained about us being there.
Took a couple areas of searching before making the find. Very difficult to retrieve! Tftc!
With rebel98 on a weekend adventure
We are on our way to the top, and this will be our first find for the day. The GPS bounced around a bit, and we found ourselves on the other side of the water tank. Hmm decided to back track, and now I was scrambling up to GZ. That is when I spotted the cache.
Sadly was unable to open (tweezers just would not do!) but I can confirm the cache is still there. Wish I had a multi tool with me!
I will send a photo to the CO confirming the find. I hope this meets the CO's requirements.
Thanks for the hide Noodlekidz

Got to have a good look for this cache as thwre was a long break in thw muggles. Saw two likely spots that yielded no results. Widening my search still with no luck.
Pick this one up with ABCDF4 we couldn't open it.Sorry forgot to log it off thank.Great walk around the mount
Headed to Tauranga for a long weekend of caching with Merlot58 and Jag50. Located the bison in it's hiding spot but couldn't open the cache even with tools.
Teamed up with Merlot58 and Aiden29 to form team JAM. As noted by other cachers, it appears that the lid has been cross threaded and it is now impossible to open. Even with tools of the trade.
A quick find was made here but as the previous finder says, the cache needs maintenance. The container has been cross threaded and despite using tools we were unable to open it and sign the log
Like the previous cacher I found it but was unable to open it. A pair of pliers and a 60mm nail will be a big help here. Have photos if CO desires proof.
Three of us looked for about 10 mins in obvious spots, found a key only, scratched around in the grass but nothing, climbed up the rise, still found nothing. Looks like its gone
Gutted to log a DNF. Had decided the Mount was where I was going to cache today and to not find the first one was frustrating. Pretty much ditto the last log - key behind one, wires and wildlife behind another. Maybe my geosenses aren't working? Then a lot of muggles passing led me to decide to end my quest.
Located 2 pieces of ‘useless wood’, but no cache to be found. Like another finder before us, we found the key behind one, and behind the other, which seems to be rotting away, we couldn’t find anything apart from a huge moth and a cricket. Neither were happy to see us.
Dragged hubby up to the water tank and found this one. Like numerous other cachers was unable to open the tube. I think even with two pairs of pliers it would be difficult. Attached is photo as proof of find even though log not able to be signed
Walk up the Mount with grandson today. GPS a bit dodgey today......but just as we where about to give up stumbled across it. Withdraw but unable to open. Photo proof attached.
Managed to put it back as we thought it should be.
Cheers

This morning we arrived with Radiance of the Seas in the port of Tauranga after a 14 day Pacific cruise. After disembarking, we had a nice walk up to the summit of Mount Maunganui. On the way down, we unfortunately realized that this container seems to be missing.
I’m here visiting aboard the Ovation of the Seas, from Australia, on a round NZ cruise. I started the climb to the summit with low cloud hanging around and hoping it would clear when I got to the summit.
Upon reaching the trig station all I could see was a white out. I made my way around the tracks to find the water tank with an amazing mural on it.
I went in search of the cache and soon realised I was on the wrong elevation. Once at GZ I found a nicely hidden cache, only that the camouflage had come lose from its support.
Well time is getting on and I’d best get back to the ship.
I’ve had a hiatus from caching and just getting back into it again and needing to get my logs up to date.
Find: 537
4th of 4 finds for today
TFTC??

I was unable to open the container, it is jammed shut. I think the previous finder has cross-threaded it or maybe just over-tightened it. Maybe the CO could check it out?
DNF at 11:06
I hiked up to the water tower and eventually found the cleverly-hidden container but, try as I might, I couldn't get it open I think the previous finder has cross-threaded it or maybe just over-tightened it. But, I couldn't get at the log. Hopefully I'll be back on my next cruise to NZ
Thanks mtncat for the cache, anyway

Really tricky little sucker. The rusty key! Just where I expected it to be, there is a rush key? Why? Has it gone? No, found earlier in the day.
Had to look elsewhere and eventually, my God eventually found the cache
Like a load of previous finders. Too soggy to sign.
If I'd have had the proper caching bag I'd have done you a solid and replaced the log.
Thanks though, good hide

Too wet to sign nor to get out. Walking up to the top now after doing the base. Tftc
Cache number 3609. I was doing a circle of the mount cleaning up some of the caches. This one had me going for awhile. I found the set of keys and eventually I found the cache. Nice hide. Unfortunately the log itself was that wet I couldn't even get it out of the cache. See the photo. Thought I would take it near GZ where it shows "Whatta View". Thank you for the placement.
Starting to get short on time so didn't give it as much time as I would have liked but no joy for us today. Will try again another time.
Went for a mish up the mount with Kathykaches and grabbed this cache amongst a couple of others. We found the rusty key as supper nanny did also but after looking a little further we managed to find the cache. As others have said, the log was saturated and came apart in my hand as I was trying to get it out. Adding photo of cache as unable to sign.
Had a great late afternoon hike up the Mount with Sarahbee20 and managed a bit of caching as well. I'd been wanting to come to the water reservoir to see the bright mural for quite some time so finding the cache here as well was a great bonus. Perseverance and trusting your instincts really pays off! We couldn't sign the log as it was so sodden but SB20 has provided a photo. Tftc.
Have taken photos of 2 useless poles ! Tall and short .
One has a rusty key on it !

log book is saturated and needs replacing. I could not gave got it out without destroying it completely
Log was too wet to get out if the bison, so i took a picture instead. Cache needs a visit from CO. Holder is lying on the ground
Teamed up with 11hpg11 from Hamilton for the day to find a few caches around here. Great company, really good caches & some lovely mid-winter sunshine made for a fab day out. There were a lot of muggles on the tracks today but not by GZ, so we managed to grab this one without looking too suspicious. Took a moment to uncover the well-camo'd cache. Log too damp to sign, sorry, so 11hgh11 has a photolog for us both, TFTC
In Papamoa/Tauranga today to collect some caches and boost some numbers. Teamed up with Kiwis69 and we had a wonderful coffee before a nice drive over the Kaimais. A great day to be out and about after all that rain, the sun was shining, not many muggles and some lovely company. Later on in the day we met up with HKCB who joined us for some finds.
A bit of a hunt for this one. We started too low to start with and the realised where we needed to be. Spotted something in the ground by overlooked it for something more obvious. After a few searches of hint items we went back to the first item and what do you know, on closer inspection, there was a cache! Unfortunatly we could not remove the log as it was mushy in the container. A novel idea for a hide none the less!

Nice quick cache on the way back to the car (: thank you for another smiley on the mountain roday
We were visiting the Mount for lunch today, and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to stop by... and indeed it was. Although there were plenty of walkers out and about, GZ was relatively quiet.
The log sheet is full & very damp - and unfortunately we didn't have our maintenance gear with us, or we would have replaced it for you.

Between muggles and the time pressure of others waiting for us, this was sadly a DNF for us.
Our first day in Tauranga and my goal was to get to the top of "the Mount". I did it. Picked up this one on the way - clever hide, great views. TFTC
Climbing 'the mount' on a beautiful day. This was our first cache of the day. Initially looked all around it before spotting it, then couldn't work out how to extricate it from its hiding place (der) then couldn't unscrew it. Phew, that isn't why I carry a paper clip but it worked. Then after all that the log was too damp to handle so we just left a bit of a pink mark on it and continued on our way. A great hide . . and yes, great views. TFTC
My first cache in NZ.
And I nearly didn't find it, having walked away from GZ after a quick search, before returning as all I could find elsewhere was a padlock key.
A cunning hide. TFTC

I'ts been a while and as other plans had been disrupted due to rain it was time to catch up on all those logs, this being but one of about 250 of them.
Another trip in the company of HKCB and we were over this way after having to change our previous plans for a big days tramping so better to be close to town clearing out a few we hadn't got before. Working through the caches around Welcome Bay so that another clear spot appears on the map. Must say we are enjoying the darkness in the morning so that we can get into the area while others are still asleep
A nice and quiet spot as we continued our journey along the Mount before starting to work our way around, up and over it.
This was the start of the journey and the cache was soon located, nicely presented and themed cache son located by HKCB
Thanks for the cache thanks for the placement

Another weekend mission with C&D, we initially had a plan to go hiking in Kauaeranga Valley, but the road had been washed out and access was by foot only, and both of us didn't feel like added 10km to a 20km hike. So plan B was to head over to Tauranga and focus on the caches on the Mount and the new Night Caches and anything else that was nearby.
Found while gathering information for the Zig Zag the mount multi. Took us a little while to zero in on the GZ, but we start way to low (down the bank to be more specific), but once we had got to the correct GZ the cache was soon found, thought extracting it took a bit more effort. Lucky C&D had a handy tool on his key ring. Thanks for the hide.

cache s located and log signed away to the next up the hill with Mrs Gilfam along for the walk and the views so far TFTC #3340
Lucky I read previous logs, would not have found it otherwise. Thanks CO and TFTC.
Day #18 of 23 in New Zealand on a geocaching holiday-trip covering Thailand, Australia and finally my beloved NZ .
Today I had a remember-able awesome tour around and up Mount Manganui!
The wheather was just fine - as I had ordered it from above : Blue skies , sunny , a light breeze to prevent overheating ....
Days like this are so precious [:X] - Dear Kiwis, hope you know how blessed you are to live in this beautiful country!!
Ended up with 14 kms of walking up- and downhill and 12 finds , including a great Earth-Cache [^], a Mystery-Gift , my own event at the Mount [:o)] and a bunch of cool & handsome traditional caches in the area [^] .
Live is good and the day is my friend!
I liked this hide a lot! Lots of fantasy gone into it... [^]
But I had my problems to opening up the container [B)], needed my tool .
Finally succeeded without any harm for the little treasure .
Hey - owners in Mount Manganui - you have super-cool caches [^] !
A big thanks [:X] to all Owners involved [^] for hiding and maintaining and the awesome scenery .
Cheers from Germany!

Hello from the UK! I'm on my hols here visiting friends in Papamoa.
This took way longer than it should! But a quick think outside the box - or rather pole - and it was visible.
Them to find something to help me get it out - couldn't find anything so in the end gave up and used my teeth! Promise I wiped it clean afterwards!
A very sneaky hide. TFTC

My seven year old son and I climbed to the top of the Mount today on a hot summers day and got the Earthcache while we were there. We walked down via this cache. Unfortunately the 'camo' had come away from where it was attached and the log was easier to access than it might have otherwise have been. Luckily I had a multi tool with me and was able to reattach it back. Hopefully it stays in place for future finders.
This was a lovely find whilst visiting from Brisbane, Australia via The Legend of The Seas.

Wow some fantastic views. Tricky cache, well placed. This is the only cache we got on Mt Manganui as our mobile phone ran out of juice. It was a beautiful challenging walk all the same TFTC. We are visiting from Oz on the Ovation of the seas
Wow, that was a tricky one. As everyone else, we were distracted by the two decoys until we went to higher ground after viewing some helpful photos. Looks like we were not the first to have a dig around a few of these knots too! Master Warrior figured it out in the end... very tricky and feeling proud that we figured it out. Thanks for the entertainment
I made this far harder than it should have been. Found a convenient hanging place ...but it's a key! Surely not. Wandered around more and hit GZ. Picked up the hide but dismissed it. After another 10 minutes I went back and ...gotcha! I did a bit of DIY before I left so the cache is in better condition. TFTC.
Challenging find on a very windy (40+ knots) day. We were in port on the Celebrity Solstice and wanted to do some geocaching in the area. Looked right at the cache "container" as soon as we got to the cache coordinates but didn't look thoroughly enough - came back to it after a several minute search in the area to "look" again ... and there it was! Good hide! SL TFTC
Found it after some help of the owner, thanks! The hint can be helpful but doesn't has to be - all depends on what you find there. So just in case widen a bit your search.. Left it as it is meant to be.
No special tool is required, just something flat for leverage

Was hanging around the approx gz waiting for muggles to pass and ran into a fellow cacher haha very cool as its the first time that's happened to me. Thanks guys!
All good easy find with another geocacher . Needs some attention tho as part has come away . Thanks
Down in the Mount with Metzgan for a little retreat weekend, and seeing as we have never tackled the Mount before, today seemed like a great day for the challenge. This was our first find along the route. A quick veer off track, and the cache was quickly spotted. It seems however to have come slightly unattached from its fixture at the top, so may need a bit of tending to. Otherwise, a neat cache. Thanks for the hide!

You cannot camp at the bottom of a hill like this for the night,
and not go a wandering up it the next day in search of caches
The weather was a bit friendlier this morning than yesterday when I arrived at camp.
So off I wandered
And as expected,
a damn good stroll,
a few cache finds too [^]
But here I was on the wind down,
heading back to towne
And a cache to be found while the sheep stood around watching me scratch me head !! [:o]
Baaaaaaaah !! [:o)]
I searched a couple of what the clue referred to and found only a key ?? [:o]
That sent me into befuddlement !!
Why have I found a key at GZ ??
What do I do with it ??
This is not an unknown cache !! [:o]
So I put the key back and joined the sheep in mindless cogitation for a while.
Me brain was working out the problem,
unlike the sheep whose brains didn't seem to be interested in geocaching ?? [:o]
If in doubt take a wander !!
And after a wander,
I found another spot that fit the clue even better
And a cache too !!! [:o]
Nice camo and a bit of MacGyvering got the bugger out so I could sign the logbook
Tanks for the cache
Needs fixin' a bit so the camo sticks in place like it should
PS: logbook is full

Took a little searching and using the hiding spot as a tool before finding the actual hiding spot. Great hide and earns a favourite from me.
Day two of my NZ geoadventure.
Logging earth caches mainly and adding letter boxes, and other odd cache types plus the odd traditional that I came by.
walking up for the earth cache I found this clever hide (in need of repair)
Thanks for the cache

Cool cache. Took a little while to work out exactly where GZ was. Checked activity and found what i needed. Found something in my pockets that helped extracted the log. Nice design. Log book is full. So took a pic. Tftc
Rather clever - not one I've seen - recently at least. Unfortunately there's at least 3 items matching the hint - it took a while to eventually work out that it was the upper one. Thanks.
Got to GZ quite easily but then took a few minutes to work out how to retrieve the cache.
Nice design and FP awarded.
