Another day of adventure with doddlingalong. A bit chilly but so good to be out of the city. Thought we would give this collection a start and see how many we can collect. TFTC
Logged as KASA24 as kangas11 and I both had a huge day today caching together at Mt Disappointment and writing our team name instead of both our caching usernames saved us time. I did the driving while kangas11 did the finding & writing in the logbooks. Tomorrow back to Mt Disappointment for more and well be swapping our roles. TFTC Carkisser!
Accompanied with theashleys7 for caching day at Mt Disappointment. We enjoyed our journey to find the caches and some DNFs. Weather was freezing in the morning and nice in the afternoon. Found it and logged as KASA24 as a team. Thanks carkisser and JSando for placing the cache
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Day 41/74, Saturday. Today, I decided to do some trail caching and headed to the Mount Disappointment area. I searched quite a big number of caches today. Some of them I simply skipped, due to various reasons: there were some DNF's and I could not be bothered - the place was too "bushy" or otherwise unpleasant, or I did not find the cache in less than a minute (which was my limit for patience today). I knew I would only get a fraction of the caches anyway, so it made no sense to try to get each and every one of them systematically. So, I was a bit lazy. Most of the caches today were found very quickly and I had a lot of fun. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Find#6067Nice hiding place Found with the adventure boys during the Whittlesea mega 2022Thanks for the cache
A trip to this region of the Australia was planned. In order to search and find a few caches here, various caches were dragged onto the Garmin. When we got here we saw a nice power trail. Without further ado, we organized various groceries to make ends meet. Filled up the rental car again and off we went. Our 4 WD-Truck is ready for this trip! After some time of starting this challenge, we came across here as well. We had to search a little longer for one or the other cache. Thanks to the owner for laying, caring for and guiding. TFTCKind regards from Germany
By this point we had to skip some of the geocaches along the route. Some of the caches had nowhere close to park safely, too much long grass (we already saw one snake) or muggles nearby. This one was a quick find and a decision to do one or two more for the day was made. TFTC
Found by caughtatwork on 17/09/2023 at 3:10:00 PMWe have taken to the bush for some walking along the roads and track to see if we can find some geocaches. Most of our caching was done by foot, with the occasional relocation to a new section by car. Most of the caches we found were in good order with only a few with small amounts of dampness, nothing to worry about. Took nothing, left nothing. Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would be nothing around for those who like to find geocaches. The area is lovely this time of year, the weather was warm but not hot and the smell of the eucalyptus trees was wonder to breathe in. *Overall Experience: 3*GAFF1
Rated: for Overall Experience
After a planned Saturday of geocaching around Lancefeild and sourounds, we found ourselves finishing up the day in Wallan. As a joke, I said to Mrs 4wd that we should just go to Dissa and camp the night and smash out the few caches we had DNFs on the power trail that had since been replaced.
Next minute, we were off into the bush and set up camp at Campsite #1 ahh the freedom of a rooftop tent and having the 4wd set up for such spontaneous decisions.. Caching is way more fun than the day I had planned to catch up at work.
I'm happy to have finished off this series

Trying to complete some caches to get to 2000 for first anniversary of caching. Here at Mt Disappointment to do some of this series. With granddaughter (paprika) who is finding lots with me!
Thanks for the cache carkisser

Good sized caches, with accurate coordinates and good hints are making for a pleasant drive and an enjoyable day. Thank you for the effort you have put in to setting this trail for all to enjoy.
The goal was 400 in a day—a pretty big task. But with Mt Disappointment and the Power Trail, it was a possibility. We started strong and hoped to find a high percentage of this excellent series. Unfortunately, it was a Mountain of Disappointment as the geomobile did not appreciate idling and travelling at very low speed as much as we did. It let us know the gearbox was not happy, so we had to pull the pin after 130 finds.
We did have the pleasure of seeing a range of Australian wildlife, one roo, several wallabies and four wombats, which it pretty cool.
We apologise for the generic log, as we prefer not to write them. We have some time pressures and cannot write 130 different logs.
All caches were found in excellent t condition unless otherwise noted.
Thank you, carkisser & JSando, for this long series of Traditional caches. We will be back to finish the series in the future.

Found this while attending the Whittlesea mega.
Depending on the log size and who I was with this is signed as nikid1, ND1 or TQ5 (team Queensland).
I had spied this series up north as it will help with a local challenge cache.
Was wondering if this would be doable with all the recent rain but with teamwork we could leave someone in the car where we couldn’t get over enough while others searched. One DNF for us the rest where found fairly easily.

Friday and there is so much to do around town, in the hills and in the adjoining districts, where to start. I will say that despite the changing weather conditions every 9 minutes, this has not dampened my look on this area. It is fantastic and such a great little main street and with so much going on. A plan was set for today and with my caching buddies off we went, chasing caches all over the place. There are some fantastic views from up in those hills. We got in some great caches today and covered a very large area of caches, thanks to all who put these out.
We started with some of the challenge caches and a drive around the area doing some labs and the Mt. Disappointment caches. We were unable to check out some caches due to works being conducted in the areas, so we will have to come back another time.
There were a few events on in the Melbourne areas, so we planned our times around those.
We did these caches as a team, which worked out great for our days plans. Thanks for the great caches today, we signed as TQ5 or as individuals at the events.

Twas the night before mega
With dark night and cold air
Off we go caching
late nights do not scare.
Kangaroos are of plenty
Five wombats we did see
How many caches will we get?
One? Maybe two or three.
Great company with Dromaniax,
Lucky we had a stamp
Plenty of caches were found here
Some good, some old, some damp.
Thank you

Apologies for some generic logs for a few caches. This was found with the Queensland cachers and was a straightforward find. We had also started to collect a little rubbish - plastic and glass bottles as well as cans! Thanks to carkisser & JSando for the cache.
Found and signed dsd or darksidedan or AB or Adventure Boys to save space in the logbook. Thanks for the cache and the Adventure

Spending the day grabbing the rest of these Mt Disa caches quick grab here. TFTC
Leaving Melbourne at lunch I decided to hit this trail and attempt my 150 in 24hrs challenge. Probably better tried on long summer days I had to take this opportunity on ny way home to Canberra with the right amount of time to myself to give it a shot. Tomorrow will tell the tale of success or not.
I have been intending to have a go at finding the caches on this iconic geocaching route for a while now. Today was the day, well to make a start anyway .. generally the coords and hints were spot on, unfortunately a small number of the caches we found were a bit damp but I still managed to make my mark…next time I will bring spares. We were surprised with the amount of people here, dirt bike riders, shooters 4WDers and campers… and of course geocachers. A few caches we had to give a miss due to muggle activity but got them on the way back. Apologies in advance for the generic logs! Thanks to carkisser and JSando for the series .. I can’t imagine how much work was put into the series .. much appreciated! We will be back to get the rest.. but maybe not on Easter weekend
We're enjoying our stay just between Lancefield and Kilmore and as our holiday was drawing to a close we decided to take a leisurely drive up Mt. Disappointment. It was quite warm so we didn't plan on getting every cache along these trails but picking up a few on the way to our picnic spot would do us no harm. We pulled over safely and I hoped out to grab this one with the younger brother, after a bit of searching around the caches hiding spot was found. Thanks for the hide carkisser
TFTC, out today as the first day back in regional vic.. tis series has been on my radar for along while and now out this weekend camping and enjoying the beauty of Mt Disappointment.
A really good series. Aiming to get our 200+ in a day and hit #2000 soon.
Thank you for the cache. Very busy here with lots of motorbikes!

Great day out with Bogonghazy on our way to Mansfield. Goal was to find 200 caches and we did.
Beautiful day and thank you for placing the caches. Will be back to finish them off.

Nice sunny weather and surely it can’t last So headed back into the forest from a different direction. Fab fun exploring this territory and a relaxing caching day. Shared the trails with dirt bikes, domestic loggers, and sightseers.
I wasn’t looking for huge numbers ‘tho the finds started to pile up after lunch. Having said that, a couple of sneaky hides had me spinning in circles As I’ve said before about this PT, the hides are consistent, good coords and hints Rounded out the day with a visit to Broadford to give the car a hose down before returning to Yea. I should sleep well tonight.
Not to get logging as keen to see what’s left on the map

Apologies for the late log, we made many finds this weekend and now I'm trying to catch up! TFTC!
We made this find with a beautiful clear morning and creeping up to 17 degrees with the sun shining and a full day ahead of cache finding possibilities!
Found the spot and stuck my hand in hoping not to get a bite by something but I didn’t and another find to the list.
I can see there will be quite a few miles do driving ahead of me to turn all these caches into smiles. A magnificent effort on your part. I’m in total awe at the amount of work to set them up. TFTC carkisser & JSando
Last cache for the day as the dirt road was too much for our car. Thank you!
Finally, a weekend with no kids and (momentarily) lifted ISO restrictions. We’ve known about this epic series since we started caching a few years ago but have never made the trek from South Gippsland. We started on Saturday 20th at about 11.30am and cached steadily until dark, which was pretty early given it was Winter Solstice. The campsites were all full with dirt bikers, so we found a quiet spot in the bush to camp. A wet night ensured followed by an early start and we got back to the caches again. We only had until mid morning, but over the two days we found a total of approx 152 caches.
Apologies in advance for the generic logs! There were only a few DNF’s and we’ll log those separately. Caches were otherwise in excellent condition and the coords and hints were spot on.
Thanks so much to carkisser and JSando for this extraordinary series! We applaud the effort that you have put into placing and maintaining these caches We look forward to coming back and finding the rest
What a great day to take myself alone, up to the start of the Mt Disappointment caches at last. It was windy and blustery but I had a wonderful time. It won’t be my last visit. I can’t wait to get all the way up to the summit. Tftc carkisser and jsando

Mrs. iowaPete and I came to the area today to chase GC7A, the second oldest cache in Australia. We found ourselves with a few extra hours and no firm plans. I did what I usually do - pull up the geocaching map and look for....
Holy Powertrails, Batman!! Look at THAT series!! Mrs. iowaPete and I decided to chase a few of them. We wound up cherry picking several just because that had parking spots that we felt comfortable using. Since we don't know the area, we were concerned that we might get in somebody's way, so we skipped a few from time to time, and grabbed others.
Once we figured out what we were looking for, the cache chases went pretty quickly. The hints and coordinates were excellent and we grabbed a nice pile. All of the containers were in great condition. Clean and dry with log sheets that easily accepted our signature. We only scratched the surface of the whole series, but that's okay. We enjoyed it all.

Back out on the mountain with +Wife and our GeoMutts, EveTheStaffy and MaxTheCollie.
Fantastic caching weather on a public holiday.
A nice variety of wildlife seen and heard today.
The pink was in full bloom.
What more could you ask for? Certainly not a dumped Kirkland couch!
Onto the dirt road now. Windows up, aircon on in an attempt to keep the dust level down in the car.
Thanks for the cache carkisser & JSando.

With my caching buddy Spiffy- overseas, It was a chance for me to go get some caches he has already found (there are lots as he is 1500 ahead of me and started 1 year after me...)
My target area was Mt Disappointment. I had an idea to ride the bike, but it was a little warm and the roads a bit harded than I first thought so left the bike in the car. All caches were founs within a couple of minutes as the coords were good and the geotrails helped.
Thanks to carkisser & JSando for the placement and fun.

Heading out on a family picnic for New Year we managed to make our way back to this area and to see if we could add a few more in this series, Found by the youngest team member as we headed along enjoying the sun, family and a great day, TFTC and the fun, we look forward to returning to continue one day
With permission of the team member who was in the local hospital we decided on a day our this time with a goal of collecting 150 finds for the day which will if achieved will be our best caching day and after spending the day collecting cache after cache we ended with 151 finds and 3 DNFs so it was a rely good outing today.
Sorry it is copy and paste logs most were nice quick finds some proved a little more difficult however most we very easy finds and some require a little attention from the owner for wet logs with it being a good day as it was cool to start and didn't get over hot during the day we managed to make the goal of 150 finds with 1 extra just to be sure.
Thanks carkisser & JSando for placing this series for us to make such an assault to collect so many caches on one day.

I'm really enjoying this series of caches. Don't know how many I will get done today before the rain arrives!
Found this little guy beside the road - unusual for a chilly 5 degrees. On closer inspection it was if the rubbery variety. After a few pranks with passing traffic we ventured on to the next cache.
Day 2 - out and about on our quest to log 80 finds. Beautiful area. Beautiful story. TFTC and to carkisser and JSando for placement and to all who help maintain this series for others to enjoy. (Log 47:80)

This series was on the cards today, most of the caches I did were all in good condition, unfortunately it seems some of the cache sbetween 45-69 are missing due to widening of the road were I had quite a few DNFs.
Caches between 184-191 need replacing as they are all wet.
Cache from 180-140 are in great condition and were all quickly located.
Overall I had a good trip and a good few hours out finding these
Today was a big day out, well it felt like it anyway. With the rain coming out of the clouds early I was unsure if my plan would be put to action. After hosting an event in the morning the skies seemed to clear so off I went in search of some Mount Disappointment caches. After finding just over 100 of them I decided to pull the pin and head back to Melbourne to do some more interesting caches. Some multis were on the cards and some finals were located but due to the amount of high muggles frequency due to this so called thing of “school holidays”, I had to leave the caches. Finished off the day with an event near Marvel stadium and on the Spirit to Tasmania.
A great day out with 118 finds. A good few days in vic finished off.
Thanks for the cache

TFTC carkisser & JSando. Back to do some more if this series on way to Gooram for the weekend. Beautiful sunny but chilly day with a decent breeze. Very consistent series! Jimmytherat with Noelle04.
After a lot of planning over the last few months, the day had finally come to get stuck into this series. I followed the route I had worked out without being sidetracked and everything went pretty much as I had hoped. I made my first find at 7:10am and the last for the day at 6:15pm. By 7 o’clock I was sitting in the Red Lion in Kilmore enjoying a cold beer and thinking back over a most enjoyable day. There was of course the odd DNF along the way as well. The weather was kind to me which helped a lot as well. A big thanks to carkisser & JSando for placing this and maintain this series. Cheers and TFTC
With geo-daughter Sheri at the wheel and geo-mutt Ana barking orders from the back seat, we began our quest to collect all of the Mt Disappointment series. Even though it was a late start we will see how we go. Had to wait for some muggle bikers to move on before searching for the cache. TNLNSL. TFTC. KkAmS
Dad decided to take a drive on a quiet country road and collect a few (hundred) caches today tomorrow and the next day. Mt Disappointment here I come. Find #[email protected]
This morning we were heading for Melbourne’s Oldest cache and so we unfortunately didn't have time to do too many of this impressive series, but we couldn't drive right past them either, and so having left our overnight camping spot we took this road out so that we could at least make a dent in the series and draw a line of smilies. We soon found this one once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Interesting design on a number of the container lids - we wonder if they have been personalised and if not what were the containers were originally used for? Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Quick find, thanks for a great series and bringing us to this interesting area.TFTC
Ah !! That's better !!
Gravel under the geomobile tyres again,
forest on both sides of the road
Sure the caches in here are harder to find,
but there's plenty parking,
opportunities for strolling,
wildlife to see
This is the heart of the driving lesson up here [^]
Th bitumen approaches through the acreages,
I'm not a fan of !!
On the home twists now !!

Great day out with Team Justice, successfully completing this wonderful series in a day. The challenge has appealed to us for a long time, and it was incredibly satisfying to be able to complete it. Throughout the day we often marveled at the size and quantity of the containers you must have had at home in order to lay these out. Thanks so much carkisser for this astonishingly ambitious and well executed series. We loved it!
A plan was hatched with Clint & Abby over 12 months ago when we saw these caches come out over time. We could get 100, nah, let’s get them all and soon after a few drinks we decided to attempt the lot in 1 day. Time passed and somehow we found ourselves talking about it at a recent event (yes, and more drinks). Let’s do it after Christmas, ok. So, we meet in Wallan at 6am to begin the long day.
We had a few ideas to speed up our caching given we were trying to find 300+ caches in a day and that our previous record was about 60 in a day so this was going to be tough. We put the GPS and pens on lanyards do we could keep our hands few when getting the cache and didn’t have to pick up or get things out of our pockets. We did shifts of 1 hour, so one person did the driving, ate, re-hydrated and relaxed, while the other cached for the hour. The driver also provided the clue up front between caches as the cacher counted the distance down to the cache.
Now to the clues. Tree, stump, log, rock! We were getting a good chuckle over the clues, ‘beside tree’, we are in a forest! We found some of the ‘logs’ were not yet logs (i.e. trees), but they were close most of the time. We thought there might be some sort of random clue generator sometimes.
To the numbers. 330 caches attempted in 10 hours and 22 minutes. We had 7 DNFs and a total of 323 finds. This meant an average find time (including DNFs) of 1 minute, 53 seconds. We were quite amazed at the speed we could go and how quick you could find, sign and move on. It also comes down to the great containers laid out by carkisser for this power trail. Nice and large, and easy to find and extract the logs. We only came across one Eclipse time late in the day. Our biggest hour of finds was our 5th hour of 42 finds. This averaged out at 1 minute and 25 seconds per cache.
Overall, we had a great time as it was a challenge to push ourselves to get all these caches. We loved the layout and the effort to place all these caches. Thanks so much to carkisser for the caches.

Once the Melbourne Mega raps up we will head to the Gold Coast , for a few day hitting all the fun parks. Then heading back to Western Australia, and back to Work. Would like to thank everyone for there caches and there efforts hiding then for us to find.all Tftc.
Over for Parkville Event started early this Morning after I landed in Melbourne, with Becknmonts and Loulou0212 we saw some beautiful scenery, great fun completing this series in 1 day
After Becknmonts and I picked gabs1963 up from the airport we headed out to start our day, a beautiful quick stop at Melbourne’s first before we headed to start this trail, thanks so much for putting theses caches out, I really enjoyed them - definitely a first for me getting my geo car off the road and on some dirt - TFTC carkisser
I had a great day out today after LouLou0212 and myself picked Gabs1963 up for the airport. We headed to “Melbourne’s First” and then onto this trail as Gabs1963 has cached our her 450km radius, so she wanted some “easy numbers”. Thanks so much for placing this trail carkisser
16/11/2018 I needed some numbers to get my milestone of 21000 finds so headed out to Mt Disappointment to grab 100 or so of the power trail caches. Only a few DNF's thanks to tree fellers and dozers. TFTC.
Heading over for the Mega, stopped by for a few of these.
Left my 'H' scrawl, as a mark for this powertrail...

We arrived in the area with a particular plan and that was to do the Dad's Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson trail. All caches were found or replaced (with the permission of the owner) Some still need the logs replaced but we ran out of supplies.
This trail was done with Hans and Linda, the jumping in and out of the car was shared, the driving was shared, lunch was had on the trail where ever we found a place that appealed to us.
Some shots were fired near one of the caches which startled the crap out of us. We did not think that you were allowed to shoot here. The roads were a mixture of good, bad and ugly. Thankfully it was dry it did try very hard to rain but all we saw was not enough to wet the car or us.
We apologise for the generic logs, this does not mean we thought any less of this series. We appreciate the effort that has gone into placing this trail and maintaining it, this is why we were more than happy to help with some maintenance.

TFTC. Our friends Jackie and Dennis (Muff1)had invited us to join them in making an assault on Mt Disappointment. We drove up on Sunday to Kilmore to join them. After putting a dent in the Mt Disappointment trail yesterday, our aim today was to finish the trail. We had an added incentive. We were close to 5000 finds and there was the pooibility we could track 200 finds for the day. The weather forecast did not look great but the weatherman was wrong . Muff1 had spoken to the CO and made arrangements to replace any caches that were missing. They will contact they CO with details of any issues we found along the way. We had a great time . We replaced 7 missing caches. We had never visited this area before and the trail gave us an appreciation of the area. Thank you carkisser & JSando for a great series.
