Another long trip around AU over the top end with lots of detours. Now heading back east across the Nullarbor with a stop at Maralinga, Ceduna, Lincoln National Park, Coober Pedy & Oodnadatta.TFTC. An excellent outback cache and landscape.
Great to make it to Oodnadatta, expecially as we hadn't planned it, just decided on a whim and followed the road out. A beautiful morning even early it's warm but nice. Great to explore town with the caches and see the sights. Conditions currently smooth and great! The day just kept giving, moon plain in the Gibber desert was a fascinating area to drive through, like something outer worldy with its rocky crystal covered surface, completely void of any plants. Back into Cooper Pedy to explore some more, crocodile Harry's bunker was a crazy character filled experience and worth the visit to see the eclectic home. Van collected, it was up the ladder at the welcome sign then off down the road heading south. After dinner at Glendambo, it was a free camp at Lake Hart after seeing The Ghan pass by shortly before.
**Wet and Muddy Adventure**The sky was overcast as Alex and Casey set out for their latest geocaching adventure. The cache, titled "Wet and Muddy," was hidden deep in the heart of the local forest, a place known for its tricky trails and unpredictable weather. The recent rain had turned the usually manageable paths into a muddy maze.Armed with raincoats, waterproof boots, and a GPS, the two friends trudged through the thick, slippery mud. Every step was a challenge as their boots sank deep into the muck, pulling free with a loud squelch. Despite the difficulty, they were determined to find the cache. They followed the GPS signal deeper into the woods, the canopy above providing some shelter from the light drizzle that had begun. The sound of rain tapping on leaves was a constant background melody as they navigated through the forest. The mud made it hard to move quickly, but they kept their spirits high, laughing and joking about the mess they were making. After nearly an hour of slogging through the mud, the GPS indicated they were close. The terrain became more challenging as they approached a small stream, swollen from the recent rains. The bridge that usually spanned the stream was under several inches of water. Not to be deterred, Alex and Casey decided to wade through, holding onto each other for balance. On the other side, they found themselves in a dense thicket. The GPS beeped, signaling they were within ten feet of the cache. Excitedly, they spread out, searching under logs and in the crooks of trees. Casey let out a triumphant shout as she pulled a muddy container from a hollow tree. They opened the cache, finding a logbook and a few trinkets. Despite being soaked and covered in mud, they felt a rush of accomplishment. They signed the logbook, adding a note about their muddy adventure, and carefully replaced the cache. As they made their way back, the rain began to let up, and a weak sun started to peek through the clouds. Alex and Casey laughed as they looked at each other, covered head to toe in mud, but with wide smiles on their faces. The Wet and Muddy cache had lived up to its name, and it was an adventure they would never forget.Come visit SA's longest running annual event -keep the Long weekend free- June 2025 Can't wait!!2492
On a 2 week family trip going through the simpson desert from south eastern victoria and grabbing some caches on the way .Out plans changed due to the rains so we needed to flip our route and start our desert crossing from dalhousie Springs and finish at birdsville. Now at birdsville we are stuck here due to all roads being closed for now.Anyway back to the cache.Nice stop while travelling Oodnadatta trackTFTC

Traveling with friends when we found this cache in perfect weather conditions. tftc
On our way back from Dalhousie Springs and a quick stop, just to say today was neither Hot and Dry OR wet and Muddy, it was as Goldie Locks said "Just right" the weather was perfect and the cache easy to find. Travelling with TubbyBooBoo and JeffEddy
We got some beautiful sunset photos to send home from this spot. Log is signed and we left a swap for the geo kiddos. Time for a sleep and refresh for tomorrow’s drive. TFTC
Nice and quick. Heading to the springs!
This leg of the journey saw us head from Jamestown to Alice via the Oodnadatta Track and Dalhousie Springs. I only found a few of the caches each day as I want to save some for later on when we return.
Highlights was the Farina Bakery, beers at Marree, William Creek and Mt Dare hotels, Peake mining area, fishing at Algebuckina, swimming at Dalhousie (with dingoes howling in the night) and sharing Lamberts with hundreds of mice.. and the caches too!
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!
Gordon Patrick Samuel, I found Hot and Dry OR Wet and Muddy today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

TFTC. Found with Algae ️we are on a road trip from Ballarat to Birdsville, off to the big red bash. Grabbing some smilies along the way in some towns. Saw a squirrel up a tree here…
First stop from Ballarat - Beaufort, Ararat, Great Western, Stawell, Underbool, Murrayville, time travelled and lost all our fruit and veg in the process..…… South Australia - Loxton, Worlds End, Mount Bryan, Orrorro, Parachilna, Coward Springs, William Creek, Oodnadatta ….. purple and yellow flowers in the dessert….and now onto the next.
On our way north we stopped at this one. Quick find for the sharp eyed Janet. She is on a roll.
All good here.

Found on yet another trip without crossing borders. Like many others overseas trips are on hold. Even interstate is hard to plan. So we are taking the time to explore and re-explore our home state of South Australia.
This trip is take 2 as our first attempt was clobbered 2 days in by a sudden lockdown meaning we had to turn back home again. Two weeks later and the geohounds are back at puppy holiday camp. Our plan is Hummocks Station, Willow Waters Gorge (brilliant!), Farina, and then the Oodnadatta Track to Algebuckina Bridge, then through to Eringa Waterhole and then on to Mt Dare. After that the likely path (assuming the NT border is open) is via Finke to Lambert’s Centre of Australia and then we will turn back south. We may drop into the Painted Desert on the way back and perhaps also take a side trip to see Lake Caddibarrawirracanna. We hope to find a few caches along the way and maybe hide a few as well. We are certainly having fun so far.
It is time to go back and actually log on line those caches for which we have only submitted draft logs. As our drafts have hit well over 200 we need to work through them.
While we may no longer remember the specifics of each event we are pretty sure we met and spoke with the usual subjects, and drank coffee, and chatted about geocaching and other stuff. We also quite possibly shared some hints about one or more of our own puzzles as we do get asked about these from time to time
As far as physical caches are concerned we remember all the puzzles, although some are harder than others [;] and mostly the hides.
As far as trads and multis are concerned we most often pick these up while traveling or at least while we are out and about for other reasons. Nearly always a bit of fun and good to break up a long trip.
All good here.

Muggles again Aggh! Wont someone tell them to P off and mind their own business!! Having just done the Flinders Ranges leg of our Big Lap we are now making our way along the Oodnadatta track with the aim of visiting Australia lowest point and then across into the NT to the geographical centre of Australia before heading up the Stuart and into Alice for some more fun. Thanks for being one of the caches we found along the way. TFTC

One of many stops on the Oodnadatta Track as we journeyed from Arkaroola to Coober Pedy via Oodnadatta.
This one was a quick drive-by on our way out of town, where we checked out the pink road house and had an early dinner, the largest hamburgers I've ever seen, to enable more time for G&Ts at camp later.
Found with scouter 101.
Thanks for the stop and the hunt

A quick find as we travelled through on our way to the Simpson.
We might claim two smilies here? It was Both Hot and Dry as we approached the cache (temps averaging 36-38 this week) and Wet and Muddy as we left (local roadworks created more typical conditions for this time of year?

We decided to have an early lunch in the Pink Roadhouse where we both *attempted* to consume the Oodnaburger (and trimmings) without success! Even though I tried to batter the burger beast flatter, the whole thing ended up disassembling itself into finger food! Luckily the burger and chips come in a high walled box which, while not at the pinnacle of culinary etiquette required for a Michelin Star rating, it served it's purpose for containing the extent of apocalyptic spread to within the walled confines of the aforementioned box!
After we had abandoned our gastronomic engorgement and admitted defeat we waddled back to car and set out to locate this cache before backtracking to the Kempe Rd turnoff to find the Ankata Painted Desert Rd. enroute to Arckaringa Station. (Did I say "Painted Desert **Road** "? If there is any "road" less deserving of the "road" tag then it's got to be the section from the Kempe Rd to Arckaringa Station! It's a real shocker!

[@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I travelled to the Northern Territory from Adelaide for a 2.5 weeks road trip holiday. We took my jeep through Port Augusta, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka, and then drove the Oodnadatta Track via Coward Springs, William Creek (including a Lake Eyre scenic flight), Oodnadatta, and Marla. It was then onwards to visit Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tju?a (Olgas), Kings Canyon, and then drove the Red Centre Way aka. Mereenie Loop Road to see the Tjoritja (West MacDonell Ranges), calling in to see the various highlights. We then stayed a few nights in Alice Springs, and included a day trip to see the East MacDonell Ranges. It was then time to turn around to head to South Australia, and in doing so, we visited the Palm Valley, and made the 4WD detour through Owen Springs Reserve (an excellent shortcut that wasn’t too technically difficult), calling into the Henbury Craters, and the Lambert Centre of Australia. Our final stop was Coober Pedy, and we really enjoyed checking out the various dugouts and mines.
Today, we continued our outback trip travelling from Oodnadatta along the Oodnadatta Track to Marla, and then on to Erldunda. This section of the Oodnadatta Track was probably the longest with minimal sights along the way, and the worst maintained with large sections of deep and wide corrugations. It was nice to arrive back at bitumen at Marla, and we then decided to visit Mintabie before the town ceased to exist. A deserted town indeed. We then continued along the main highway to enter the Northern Territory where our speed could be increased to 130 km/hr passing through Kulgera.
This was our first cache for the day, and didn't take long to find. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. I dropped a TB here for future travels. Thanks [@Gordon Patrick Samuel](http://coord.info/PRB5CD) for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Took a room at the pub instead of camping, took a quick run out to this one for an easy find.
After a bush camp under the Gidgee out near Mt Sarah Station under the stars, we found and signed log at 9:35am then headed for the comforts of the Pink Roadhouse. Most of Oodnadatta was looking neat and tidy today, except for the usual couple of house blocks in the centre of town! Thanks for the cache way out here GPS.

Found as part of an extended trip with FeatherWaite, Freddo, Team Waldron and a couple of non-caching friend that saw us travel from Adelaide to Coober Pedy, through the Painted Desert to Oodnadatta, then on to Dalhousie and Mount Dare, before crossing the Simpson Desert to Birdsville and then back down to Adelaide via Marree and the Flinders Ranges.
We had pretty good weather, with moderately warm days and cool nights, but plenty of flies!
It was great to be able to find some remote caches in some really interesting and scenic locations.

No water here. Dust and flies.
Found with H423L on an epic trip up to find Pluto (GCG32B) - the furthest known planet at the time of TeamAstro's solar system inception. There was dust, flies, more dust, no mud and a million stars at night. There were no tyre issues. The geocaching led us to spectacular spots that were out of the way - and a few spots that were popular as it was the school holidays. We cached a few caches with others and it was good to see our friends on the trail.
Thanks to Gordon Patrick Samuel and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

Interesting as I pulled into Oodnadatta today is was a very pleasant temperature and it did not seem to have rained for a bit. At least the road was dry all the way from Marla to Maree. Lunchtime !

WHOOPS! I'm logging about 100-200 or so caches like 3 months after the trip that we found them on! Completely forgot to log these but I did not forget the trip! Found this cache along with many others on an adventure around the red centre. Along this adventure we visited and explored many phenomenal and surreal places such as Woomera, Coober Pedy, Uluru and Mutitjulu, Kata Tjuta, Wattarka, Tnorala, Both East and West Macdonnell ranges, Arltunga, Ruby Gap, Palm Valley, Parts of the Finke road, Boggy Hole, Rainbow Valley, Old Ghan Route, Chambers Pillar, Oodnadatta track, Mount Dare, Dalhousie Springs, Painted Desert, Moon plane and I'm sure I've missed a few! Thank you so much for the cache. Found with Ferociousflea and -Beaker- along with our mint 79 series that accomplished alot in this two week time frame.

Today we are travelling from Hawker to Leigh Creek and the clouds look like they are lifting so hopefully we will drive out of the rain today picking up a cache of two along the way in this scenic area.
As we have said before we really enjoyed our trip along the Oodnadatta Track reminiscing over our last trip over 30 years ago. We stopped at the infamous Pink Roadhouse and fueled up at $2.00 a litre (wish the fuel prices were the same as our last trip) before heading out to find this one before doing a u-turn to head back to the painted desert.
The cache was a nice easy find right where the GPSr was pointing and our names were soon added to the log,

Early morning cache, very windy today as we set off for next leg of the journey home after the event. Tftc
Todays travels took us from Mt Dare Station, alongside the Old Ghan Railway to Dalhousie Springs, Dalhousie Ruins, Pedirka Siding to Oodnadatta and everything along the way and in between. The day had been quite hot and sunny, and now the clouds were beginning to close in and get darker. We found the cache, signed the log and headed toward the local Caravan Park to get settled for the night. We just got the everything into the cabin and the heavens opened. Great timing It was here that we discovered the 24 pack of ciders in glass bottles we'd purchased yesterday hadn't enjoyed the track as much as I did. The GeoPatrol had a rather Fermenting smell for a few days. Thanks to Gordon Patrick Samuel for the hide.
Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.
Today I was lucky enough to be out and about so I targeted this cache.
Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!

Reasonably hot and definitely dry but not for long. This was wet and muddy when we were on our way to Alice. Not from the weather but from road words so we didn't stop and look for it. We wondered if it would be available considering the roadworks but all was good. Here comes the rain again. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.
A quick and easy find this time as the roadworks have finished. Luckily we found it before the rain hit. Thanks for the cache.
Well we have ventured out to the Alice experience event and now it is over and it is time to head home.
However there is a few caches to find along the way.
This is one we found along the way as we headed back along the Binns and Oodnadatta tracks.
We obviously go with the Wet and muddy because Mrs Parrot has never ever seen Oodnadatta dry.
Made the mistake of camping on clay and the heavens opened up at 9pm which made walking around the camp in the morning very interesting.
Should have used the free camp ground in town.

Following our interesting stay at the Oodnadatta Caravan Park we continued our journey north whilst trying to keep our distance from a tag-a-long group which we had caught up to. Fortunately our visit wasn't too hot and with clear blue skies so no wet & muddy for us. Again it was great to see such a robust cache container for this environment. Thanks again to Gordon Patrick Samuel for placing this cache. Cheers [^]

On a road trip with Geo/rge to the Red Centre Experience at Alice Springs.
We travelled from Moe to Broken Hill to Cameron Corner to Marree to Marla then to Alice Springs.
This was the Marree to Marla section.
A quick find was made and the log signed.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Ah yes !!
Another visit to this outback towne
Though I rarely stop for long ...
... I can't afford to [:o]
So with nothing to do but just drive slowly through,
I headed for the cache on the northside of towne.
A short wait roadside for the grader driver to clear the scene,
and I headed off to find me a cache
TFTC on me way to Marla today [^]

A welcome stop after a wind camp at Oodnadatta. Following the Old Ghan trail, so leaving the Oodnadatta track shortly for Dalhousie. Thanks GPS.
Hot and dry was how we found it all today! A nice quick cache to find on our travels along the Oodnadatta track. We did this cache after doing the 6x4 circuit drive that leaves from town. That drive was so much fun to do, and included driving up a couple of sand dunes and across a couple of clay pans. On top of one dune there are amazing views down on to Oodnadatta. The pink roadhouse have maps that show the way! ……. eatmorchikin from Brisbane heading to Alice for the Easter caching event
Unfortunately there are some roadworks here so can't look and hope it is still here if we have a chance to return.
