Out on a day trip I stopped in at Carcoar to grab a few caches, i have lots of fond memories of this town my parents had friends that owned the upholstery shop and also lived opposite the pub in the main street, i remember early 80s my father was in the reenactment here as a trooper I also remember crying so much because i thought my dad really was shot dead and funny enough it was right next to GZ! Always nice to come back here for a visit and a poke around and avenge and old DNF on this oneThanks Joshwa27 for the cache
An enjoyable long weekend caching with friends around the Southern Tablelands.Quick find in a beautiful location. Fun puzzle. TFTC Joshwa27!
A cool and fun day of caching around the Central Tablelands. This cache was a straightforward find in the obvious location once we widened the search a little - its a bit closer to the shelter. Container and log in ok condition. Thanks!
After spending a couple of days with Kittykatch, Joolay, FurfacesLL, DTY73, Tankengine, Youban, SmittenGranny, Contesta, Gliss! Domsky, Fitzy_1965, and Minniek caching in Bathurst as a group, barb2e and I are on day 4 of our Bathurst adventure. Today we are winding our way back home via a few counties, I haven't logged yet. The tree the compass pointed at did not yield a cache, neither did the next tree. I was about to give up (raining proper now) when I decided to widen the search. Found and signed. Day 15 of my interstate trip. Today I left Grenfell and continued to head closer to Sydney. Tonight I stayed in the Mount York Campground unfortunetally it was dark when I arrived so had to wait till morning to see how nice the views from this spot. I managed to find 19 caches today and ended up with 3 DNF's today.A quick detour in to Carcoar for a few finds. At least I didn't leave my GPS here like I did last time I was here 10 yearts ago.TFTC Joshwa27
More history. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. Went for a drive out to Carcoar today, and this is one cache that I had last a few times, but every time there was at least one muggle hanging around. Today the coast was clear, so took the opportunity to grab this one.

OCW Irondale on the way to the Rutherglen Mega event today. We focused on caches in Blaney, Carcoar and Gundagai (where we also stayed the night). All around a great day with some solved puzzles in the map that got found and we ended up picking up 60 cents worth of return and earn cans, found a fifty cent coin, a really decent reusable drink bottle, a ring, and some fresh figs from a tree near Coolac.
This one solved for a while, and today grabbed. Carcoar is a beautiful town and I'd like to come back for the unfound caches and the multis.

The fourth day of geocaching with Team Canary, Brewmaker, Noodles21, ziggiau and Rainbow Spirit. After lots of walking in Wattle Flat on Wednesday, for Thursday we would take it easy and drive up to Cowra for many more solved Joswa caches, that would not require a lot of walking.
On our return back to Bathurst, we also visited some of the beautiful places in between; Carcoar, Blaney and King Plains.
What a stunning little town, and I will definitely come back to soak up some more of the history of this beautiful place!
Logs were signed with the team name BRINTZ. TFTC!

School holidays are over and time to do some caching!
Heading Mudgee/Dubbo/Orange areas looking to find some.
Thanks to the owners for the hides we find on our trip.
After a pretty thorough search of the hinted areas we had no luck. Think it's gone.

Found on a Bathurst trip away. The focus of the trip was to spot trigs but we managed to also collect a few interesting caches along the way. I love this town. TFTC
A very pretty little town. I always enjoy the chance to explore this place. “Collecting History of’s” and Trigs with GLISS! on our way to Bathurst for the weekend. Great to have another one of this series turned to a smile. Thanks for the cache.
Took a little detour into town.. sat at the pub to figure out the answers. Checker said no but a quick guess at what might have gone wrong and we were back on track. Made a quick find at GZ. TFTC
At last I can add this as a find. I think it is my fourth attempt. Not to worry, this town is a real treat to visit.

I arrived at GZ but nothing initially found. I checked all the trees within the area but just couldn't locate the cache. I even got the geowife involved in the search. After about 10min, I was prepared to give it away when the wife heard something metallic when she tapped a spot with a stick. Sure enough, there was the cache. I'm sure I checked that spot earlier. Nice to get a smiley here. Thanks Joshwa.

YET ANOTHER (4TH?) VISIT TO THIS ONE. i CHECKED ALL THINGS RELATING TO THE HINT, but my GPS could not talk to satellites this morning. May have been the rain...who knows?
Turned up at the site. There were some muggles at a nearby table so we left and came back but unfortunately, despite having the correct Coordes, we could not find the prize.
Love this old town so pretty. Thanks for bringing us here. Took a bit of search but got there in the end TFTC
I didnt get a chance to search at GZ as some muggles sat on the seat and kept a vigilant eye on me.
It was time to return and try to finish off the remaining TRLT series with Rapidlywild. Probably not the best time to go with rain and snow forecast, but we have never let the weather stop us before. So packed all the winter woollies, thermals, gloves and beanies and off we went.
We nearly got all the elements over the weekend even in one day snow, rain, fog, sun and wind but there was also some pleasant weather thrown in there for good measure. Roads in some places were a little hair raising but the trusty 4WD got us through safe and sound.
With permission from some of the cache owners we replaced saturated logs and on a few occasions caches.
All in all a good and successful long weekend away, lovely looking countryside and views along the way.
Great little town and heaps of history here.
Thanks for the hide Joshwa27 and thanks for another fun filled weekend away RWLD.

Last month, FFLL and I begun the tackle against the TRLT series and managed to get a huge chunk done. Well, we decided we wanted to get it finished so with snow on the forecast, we bit the bullet and packed the thermals and set off to have some fun. We had rain, fog, frost and even snow but it was an awesome weekend for sure We reached out to the cache owners of the ones we had to complete to inform them of our intentions and also advise that we were happy to complete replacement maintenance if required, so we came across a few that after extensive searches, we didnt locate, so we replaced as approved by the CO. A large number of replacement log sheets left along the way also to assist with the caches with soggy log books.
Lots of places visited across the weekend, including lots of old churches and old cemeteries across the land.
Thanks for the hide Joshwa27 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others

We looked for this in every location we thought it may be but no luck. See Ziggiau’s log for more info. From other logs it seems the cache should be attended and made a little more waterproof.
Disappointed to DNF this one. Had a solid look in all the suitable places, but I did draw the attention of a muggle. He tried to gee up this city slicker by saying that there was a black snake in one of the trees! He asked what I was looking for and I told him which lead into a discussion about the axe murders. This bloke must have been a local (dogs and family all swimming down in the river) as he said that there was an old woman in town many years back who was missing a finger! Thankfully, due to way too long spent on research I knew exactly who he was referring to. My caching research helped me have a genuine conversation with a local who will then remember that strange word “geocaching” with less scepticism.
TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Container leaks and log is wet. Water proof paper saves the day.
Needs maintenance - container is a pepper shaker! It’s full of water. Lovely town and little river
Carcoar is an interesting reflection on the past and we enjoyed the research to complete the puzzle as we learnt more about the area. Today we went to look for the cache. It took a little while for our GPS units to settle, but when they did we were able to make a quick find. Unfortunately there was quite a deal of water in the container - the salt shaker type lid certainly doesn't make the container watertight - and the logbook was very wet. Urgent maintenance is required. We dried off a section so that we could sign the log. Thanks joshwa27 for the cache and the series.
Hatzofff and I are in Bathurst for a few weeks house sitting, and of course have time for lots of caching.
Today we journey to the Blayney area.
Got this one solved reasonably quickly, and while having our lunch, ducked off to grab the cache with a nice new write in the rain log sheet.

Our second day trip with Wilbert67 at Bathurst and surrounding area collecting caches, the main aim is to grab the TRLT and everything in between. Thank you to all the COs for their hides.
Our second big day around Bathurst. Again J+J.AU and me are fit to tackle the TRLT trail and all other caches on our route. Really great, but warm weather again made for an exhausting day. Enjoyed all the fantastic views on this scenic trip. Thanks to all the cache owners for puttinh them out there!

While on TRLT we did a few "The History of ..." caches. Puzzle solved so off to GZ. Tree. Muggles. Creek. It had it all here. Even the cache. TFTC
There's actually a bus stop here, and if it takes a while waiting for the bus, there's plenty of interesting history to read about in the bus shelter. TFTC

#4613- Out with bikerbuddy and NickoHeap on a very cool day, doing a spot of caching in the area. I have been working through a lot more of these ' history of..... Mysteries and knowing that we were coming out here soon, I made sure I had solved this one. A nice easy find in a quiet spot today. Thanks.
couldn't do the other day, today there was a few less people about , easy find, thanx for the history, cheers
With a planned meeting in Wagga Wagga with JJCC, we set our sights on working towards trying to complete several of the UGC challenge caches found in the ACT. Fast forward to the end of our three day trip and we managed to find caches in nine counties (LGAs) of Blayney, Cowra, Weddin, Bland, Coolamon, Narrandera, Temora, Junee and Wagga Wagga (still a long way from our target of 95 counties), filling a spot in our hidden month calendar, as well as completing our hidden day calendar.
Gotta love our historic towns in rural NSW, and Carcoar doesn't dissappoint and is well worth the visit. Making our way to GZ we initially thought the cache was MIA as a nearby tree has recently been pruned of its lower branches....but then the GPSr settled and we found ourselves several metres away. Walking towards GZ we spotted a nice little hide location and found the cache. With the cache in hand, we both signed the log and then returned as found. Thanks for the cache Joshwa27. Both the cache container and log are in good condition.
The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling and Richard Teer.

En route from Mudgee to Cowra, we made stops along the way where there was room for car and caravan to pull safely off the road.
It is always fascinating to learn a little more Aussie history. Is there a connection between Carcoar & Kurt Fearnley?
Thanks 'Joshwa27' for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

No luck at GZ. When we first arrived there was a family of muggles eating nearby but while JetFuselage used the facilities they packed up and left. Thanks to a large truck parked on the roadside, blocking the view of muggles across the road, we were able to search freely at GZ. GPSr suggested one particular spot and we searched and searched, nothing. Broadened the area, checked out all others, still no luck. Nooooo, not another DNF - aaagghhhh!
I looked it every spot suggested by the but found nothing. I have all the fixings for a replacement, but as there were no DNFs before me (I assumed) I didn't think it kosher to replace it just because I couldn't find it. Turns out that Code1 could not find it a couple of weeks back. I could replace it on the way home, but I'm not sure which one is the right one.
Muggles everywhere today but later in the afternoon it was clear enough to look for this one.
Tried every one within 10 m but no luck.
Good place to come back to so not too worried about the DNF.

The last day of 23 of our caching trip to Alice Springs, finding 300 caches in total. This was find #5 for the day.
Today we drove from West Wyalong to home. I decided to make it an Unknown Cache only day and I had solved a whole heap in preparation!?!
I missed this last time I was in town and had more trouble today and ended up checking the seven nearest trees to my GZ. Eventually at the spot on coordinates I spotted an area I hadn't noticed or checked. Bingo!!!

On a quiet weekend I decided go for a drive in the country. I mostly spent the day driving from Goulburn to Blayney. I managed to see many great spots along the way before spending the night at Blayney. On Monday I headed home with only a few cache stops along the way.

#4652 - 12:12; Out on a day run from Canberra to Carcoar and return with Sol de lune, primarily to collect caches in the History of..... series and the Harry Potter series. Our route had taken us through Boorowa and then on to Murringo to what would become a familiar sight for us throughout the day, a cemetery. We were now past Cowra on the Mid Western Highway, headed towards Carcoar with a stop at Woodstock then Lyndhurst and Manduramah before we arrived at Carcoar where we had a number of caches on the 'to do' list, including this one. After the last find, this one was pretty quick indeed. TFTC Joshwa27

Winglens were developing a bit of an obsession with these 'history of' caches, so I spent some time solving another bunch last night for the journey home, and then solved a couple more while on the road. This container contained quite a bit of water but the logsheet was OK. We dried it out well before replacing it in its hide. Thanks Joshwa.

With so many new caches up this way I headed off early this morning loaded up with many solved puzzles and also with a few Multis in my sights as well. About 2 and 1/2 hours after leaving Canberra I arrived in the area and started caching. This was the next one on my list, which as pre solved made for a quick find. Signed, returned, and it was off to the next one.
Thanks again Joshwa27 !! Carcoar is quite a pretty town !

A pretty vista as you turn off the highway into Carcoar - and well worth another visit. An easy find with cache and log in good order. Thanks for the cache and a lesson on the locale, *JOSHWA27*

This one I managed to work out by myself. We found the cache while walking around tracking down multi waypoints.
Thanks

We were in the middle of wandering around town, picking up some of the information we needed at waypoints for the multi. However, we came close to this cache, which we had corrected in our GPS, so we stopped to make a quick find. Carcoar is such a beautiful little town. I've been here before for caching, but without caching I doubt I would have ever seen it. Thanks
TFTC. More history about Carcoar. A fascinating little town. We are camped at the dam and enjoyed the research.
Found it and signed! Beginning to think we'd gone cache blind thankfully we haven't TFTC Travelling slowly homewards after a six month stay in Tassie.
