Another day of adventure with doddlingalong. A bit chilly but so good to be out of the city. Thought we would give this collection a start and see how many we can collect. TFTC

Logged as KASA24 as kangas11 and I both had a huge day today caching together at Mt Disappointment and writing our team name instead of both our caching usernames saved us time. I did the driving while kangas11 did the finding & writing in the logbooks. Tomorrow back to Mt Disappointment for more and well be swapping our roles. TFTC Carkisser! We almost gave up on this one, took us ages to find it. GPS played up here.

Accompanied with theashleys7 for caching day at Mt Disappointment. We enjoyed our journey to find the caches and some DNFs. Weather was freezing in the morning and nice in the afternoon. Found it and logged as KASA24 as a team. Thanks carkisser and JSando for placing the cache

On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. SmileDay 41/74, Saturday. Today, I decided to do some trail caching and headed to the Mount Disappointment area. I searched quite a big number of caches today. Some of them I simply skipped, due to various reasons: there were some DNF's and I could not be bothered - the place was too "bushy" or otherwise unpleasant, or I did not find the cache in less than a minute (which was my limit for patience today). I knew I would only get a fraction of the caches anyway, so it made no sense to try to get each and every one of them systematically. So, I was a bit lazy. Smile Most of the caches today were found very quickly and I had a lot of fun. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! After a planned Saturday of geocaching around Lancefeild and sourounds, we found ourselves finishing up the day in Wallan. As a joke, I said to Mrs 4wd that we should just go to Dissa and camp the night and smash out the few caches we had DNFs on the power trail that had since been replaced.
Next minute, we were off into the bush and set up camp at Campsite #1 ahh the freedom of a rooftop tent and having the 4wd set up for such spontaneous decisions.. Caching is way more fun than the day I had planned to catch up at work.
I'm happy to have finished off this series

Twas the night before mega
With dark night and cold air
Off we go caching
late nights do not scare.

Kangaroos are of plenty
Five wombats we did see
How many caches will we get?
One? Maybe two or three.

Great company with Dromaniax,
Lucky we had a stamp
Plenty of caches were found here
Some good, some old, some damp.

Thank you Smile

The goal was 400 in a day—a pretty big task. But with Mt Disappointment and the Power Trail, it was a possibility. We started strong and hoped to find a high percentage of this excellent series. Unfortunately, it was a Mountain of Disappointment as the geomobile did not appreciate idling and travelling at very low speed as much as we did. It let us know the gearbox was not happy, so we had to pull the pin after 130 finds.

We did have the pleasure of seeing a range of Australian wildlife, one roo, several wallabies and four wombats, which it pretty cool.

We apologise for the generic log, as we prefer not to write them. We have some time pressures and cannot write 130 different logs.

All caches were found in excellent t condition unless otherwise noted.

Thank you, carkisser & JSando, for this long series of Traditional caches. We will be back to finish the series in the future.

I have been intending to have a go at finding the caches on this iconic geocaching route for a while now. Today was the day, well to make a start anyway .. generally the coords and hints were spot on, unfortunately a small number of the caches we found were a bit damp but I still managed to make my mark…next time I will bring spares. We were surprised with the amount of people here, dirt bike riders, shooters 4WDers and campers… and of course geocachers. A few caches we had to give a miss due to muggle activity but got them on the way back. Apologies in advance for the generic logs! Thanks to carkisser and JSando for the series .. I can’t imagine how much work was put into the series .. much appreciated! We will be back to get the rest.. but maybe not on Easter weekend

An afternoon out in the area with +Wife and the GeoMutts.
HIPS
After eating our lunch and paying a visit to Mt. Disappointment we headed on down for some more driving lessons.
Drained some water out.
Now we are back to the previously found section.
Having found the first 50 two years and one week ago.
The adventure continues.
Some caches signed as NW+W, others simply stamped with a dyno-mite donosaur stamp.
Thanks for the cache carkisser & JSando.

TFTC, out today as the first day back in regional vic.. tis series has been on my radar for along while and now out this weekend camping and enjoying the beauty of Mt Disappointment.
A really good series. Aiming to get our 200+ in a day and hit #2000 soon.

This was tough so much of the hint around here!!

10-Jul-21
Great day out with Bogonghazy on our way to Mansfield. Goal was to find 200 caches and we did.
Beautiful day and thank you for placing the caches. Will be back to finish them off.

05-May-21
A day off work, a great sunny day - let's complete some more of the Mt Dissapointment series. A few of the muggled caches had recently been replaced and I set off to find them and many more I was yet to find up here. Great day found about 35 in total. TFTC

02-May-21
Nice sunny weather and surely it can’t last So headed back into the forest from a different direction. Fab fun exploring this territory and a relaxing caching day. Shared the trails with dirt bikes, domestic loggers, and sightseers.

I wasn’t looking for huge numbers ‘tho the finds started to pile up after lunch. Having said that, a couple of sneaky hides had me spinning in circles As I’ve said before about this PT, the hides are consistent, good coords and hints Rounded out the day with a visit to Broadford to give the car a hose down before returning to Yea. I should sleep well tonight.

Not to get logging as keen to see what’s left on the map

20-Jun-20

Finally, a weekend with no kids and (momentarily) lifted ISO restrictions. We’ve known about this epic series since we started caching a few years ago but have never made the trek from South Gippsland. We started on Saturday 20th at about 11.30am and cached steadily until dark, which was pretty early given it was Winter Solstice. The campsites were all full with dirt bikers, so we found a quiet spot in the bush to camp. A wet night ensured followed by an early start and we got back to the caches again. We only had until mid morning, but over the two days we found a total of approx 152 caches.
Apologies in advance for the generic logs! There were only a few DNF’s and we’ll log those separately. Caches were otherwise in excellent condition and the coords and hints were spot on.
Thanks so much to carkisser and JSando for this extraordinary series! We applaud the effort that you have put into placing and maintaining these caches We look forward to coming back and finding the rest

I found the road works sign and as it was getting later in day, decided to go to another section, will come back this way again

13-Feb-20
I was up this way back in December and had a string of DNF’s along this section due to some recent roads works and as I was having a BDO today (Birthday Day Off) and noticed that the CO had done a maint run along here it was then decided that it was time to turn the blue frown into a yellow smiley along this section.
Came in from the Wandong road and got to the main cross road section and found that Main Mountain Rd was closed due to works.
Checked the map and I took the road to the left as it showed that I could come in from the back way to Main Mountain Road.
The road I took was Escreets Road and after bouncing the Mitzi Geowagon along it, I would highly recommend to anyone in a normal car Just Don’t Do It, it was more of a track than a gravel road, very rutted with ups and downs and pot holes.
I was glad when I got to Westcott Creek Road then back on to Main Mountain Road.
Continuing along the main road and I soon arrived at the next one.
I had a good search around here last time I was here for this one but came up empty handed.
I noticed that this has been replaced and when I got to GZ I noticed a container half buried and when I retrieved it was one of the original containers and then when I read the log I realised it was the old cache.
I then soon located the new container and replaced it with the original one in its place.
So for future finders you are looking for the original type container for this one.
Thanks for the maintenance and for replacing this one for us to find.
I have now finished this section of caches so now onto 295 - 325 to finish off the morning.

Thanks carkisser & JSando TFTC.

**Find #3149**

Out on the new Geo-motorcycle and with this one back in play it was great to turn that frown upside down. Thanks for keeping the great series going.

Thanks **carkisser**

I’m back for the 3rd time roaming the streets of Mt Disappointment in an attempt to double my finds to 1000 by 29 Feb. Ridiculous! considering I was at #400 17Nov and #500 28Dec.

Glad to turn this one into a smiley, 2nd attempt.

This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

12-Dec-19
With permission of the team member who was in the local hospital we decided on a day our this time with a goal of collecting 150 finds for the day which will if achieved will be our best caching day and after spending the day collecting cache after cache we ended with 151 finds and 3 DNFs so it was a rely good outing today.

Another DNF for us today, after a good search of the area it was apparent that the cache was not at the indicated coordinates.

Thanks carkisser & JSando for placing this series for us to make such an assault to collect so many caches on one day.

07-Dec-19
It has been quiet awhile since I was last up here so I made the decision to to come up early this morning and tackle a bit more of the series starting at #52 and seeing where I end up.
Was nice and cool this morning but the sun came out and warmed up the place.
The roads were quiet with only the occasional car passing by.
Got off to a bad start here as it looks like the road has been graded as there is a lot of dirt, gravel and vegetation pushed up against the edge.
You guys have done a great job in putting this series out and keeping up the maintenance as well as I know that can be a lot of work.

Thanks carkisser & JSando TFTC

27-Oct-19
Logging debris has been dumped along this stretch of roadside creating some difficulty locating caches.

26-Oct-19
Sadly, no joy for us here today.

Mission also accomplished and another string of Dads lessons completed but it did take a few hours so looking forward to a G&T and kicking back. All containers in good condition with just a couple a tad damp. Happy and glad to be doing these before Joe Blakes get too active not that I mind the handsome reptiles from afar. TFTC and the drive- be back again when I’ve recovered from this lot!

After a lot of planning over the last few months, the day had finally come to get stuck into this series. I followed the route I had worked out without being sidetracked and everything went pretty much as I had hoped. I made my first find at 7:10am and the last for the day at 6:15pm. By 7 o’clock I was sitting in the Red Lion in Kilmore enjoying a cold beer and thinking back over a most enjoyable day. There was of course the odd DNF along the way as well. The weather was kind to me which helped a lot as well. A big thanks to carkisser & JSando for placing this and maintain this series. Cheers and TFTC

20-Jan-19
Quick find and thank you for the cache

19-Jan-19

This was subsequent find for the day on the actual Dad's Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson series which Geowife and myself decided to attack today in the hope of achieving 100 plus finds in a day (which was achieved. And this one was picked up from where we left off last year with the only DNF in our run on these new caches in the series been #115 Anyway after a quick park and grab on this one we started the series in earnest at this point and had a productive day in the end finding around 105 plus caches for the day. TFTC.
If there is a complaint that I have about this series it would be that some people do not replace the caches in the correct place as per GZ co-ordinates and some caches that we found today were up to 10 metres away from the GZ, not covered over or left out in the open. Other cache logs were so wet that the logs could not be signed and a sheet of dry paper was added to these ones. The caches that had water in them were emptied of water and resealed.

And to carkisser and JSando, thank you for this great series and the huge amount of work that the both you and your team of helpers thank you for making keeping this series in operation.
Due to the high number of logs to be completed a generic log has been generated for all/most logs.

10-Jan-19
The log bag is wet but still stamped the dry log book

28-Dec-18
Great day out with Team Justice, successfully completing this wonderful series in a day. The challenge has appealed to us for a long time, and it was incredibly satisfying to be able to complete it. Throughout the day we often marveled at the size and quantity of the containers you must have had at home in order to lay these out. Thanks so much carkisser for this astonishingly ambitious and well executed series. We loved it!

28-Dec-18
A plan was hatched with Clint & Abby over 12 months ago when we saw these caches come out over time. We could get 100, nah, let’s get them all and soon after a few drinks we decided to attempt the lot in 1 day. Time passed and somehow we found ourselves talking about it at a recent event (yes, and more drinks). Let’s do it after Christmas, ok. So, we meet in Wallan at 6am to begin the long day.

We had a few ideas to speed up our caching given we were trying to find 300+ caches in a day and that our previous record was about 60 in a day so this was going to be tough. We put the GPS and pens on lanyards do we could keep our hands few when getting the cache and didn’t have to pick up or get things out of our pockets. We did shifts of 1 hour, so one person did the driving, ate, re-hydrated and relaxed, while the other cached for the hour. The driver also provided the clue up front between caches as the cacher counted the distance down to the cache.

Now to the clues. Tree, stump, log, rock! We were getting a good chuckle over the clues, ‘beside tree’, we are in a forest! We found some of the ‘logs’ were not yet logs (i.e. trees), but they were close most of the time. We thought there might be some sort of random clue generator sometimes.

To the numbers. 330 caches attempted in 10 hours and 22 minutes. We had 7 DNFs and a total of 323 finds. This meant an average find time (including DNFs) of 1 minute, 53 seconds. We were quite amazed at the speed we could go and how quick you could find, sign and move on. It also comes down to the great containers laid out by carkisser for this power trail. Nice and large, and easy to find and extract the logs. We only came across one Eclipse time late in the day. Our biggest hour of finds was our 5th hour of 42 finds. This averaged out at 1 minute and 25 seconds per cache.

Overall, we had a great time as it was a challenge to push ourselves to get all these caches. We loved the layout and the effort to place all these caches. Thanks so much to carkisser for the caches.

Once the Melbourne Mega raps up we will head to the Gold Coast , for a few day hitting all the fun parks. Then heading back to Western Australia, and back to Work. Would like to thank everyone for there caches and there efforts hiding then for us to find.all Tftc.

Over for Parkville Event started early this Morning after I landed in Melbourne, with Becknmonts and Loulou0212 we saw some beautiful scenery, great fun completing this series in 1 day

16-Nov-18
After Becknmonts and I picked gabs1963 up from the airport we headed out to start our day, a beautiful quick stop at Melbourne’s first before we headed to start this trail, thanks so much for putting theses caches out, I really enjoyed them - definitely a first for me getting my geo car off the road and on some dirt - TFTC carkisser

16-Nov-18
I had a great day out today after LouLou0212 and myself picked Gabs1963 up for the airport. We headed to “Melbourne’s First” and then onto this trail as Gabs1963 has cached our her 450km radius, so she wanted some “easy numbers”. Thanks so much for placing this trail carkisser

16-Nov-18
16/11/2018 I needed some numbers to get my milestone of 21000 finds so headed out to Mt Disappointment to grab 100 or so of the power trail caches. Only a few DNF's thanks to tree fellers and dozers. TFTC. Big Grin

05-Nov-18
We arrived in the area with a particular plan and that was to do the Dad's Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson trail. All caches were found or replaced (with the permission of the owner) Some still need the logs replaced but we ran out of supplies.
This trail was done with Hans and Linda, the jumping in and out of the car was shared, the driving was shared, lunch was had on the trail where ever we found a place that appealed to us.
Some shots were fired near one of the caches which startled the crap out of us. We did not think that you were allowed to shoot here. The roads were a mixture of good, bad and ugly. Thankfully it was dry it did try very hard to rain but all we saw was not enough to wet the car or us.
We apologise for the generic logs, this does not mean we thought any less of this series. We appreciate the effort that has gone into placing this trail and maintaining it, this is why we were more than happy to help with some maintenance.

TFTC. Our friends Jackie and Dennis (Muff1)had invited us to join them in making an assault on Mt Disappointment. We drove up on Sunday to Kilmore to join them. After putting a dent in the Mt Disappointment trail yesterday, our aim today was to finish the trail. We had an added incentive. We were close to 5000 finds and there was the pooibility we could track 200 finds for the day. The weather forecast did not look great but the weatherman was wrong . Muff1 had spoken to the CO and made arrangements to replace any caches that were missing. They will contact they CO with details of any issues we found along the way. We had a great time . We replaced 7 missing caches. We had never visited this area before and the trail gave us an appreciation of the area. Thank you carkisser & JSando for a great series.

*25 Aug 2018, Found @9:26 am, Find # 1879.*

Needing to smash out a few caches to get me closer to another milestone I thought I would target this series. The aim for today is to get to that magical 120 number. We are working our way through these quite quickly making our target even closer with each find. Another easy find. We signed our names to the temporary log inside container.

**Thanks to carkisser for placing this cache.**

--------

###**CACHE OWNER ACTION REQUIRED PLEASE**###

----------

I've noticed this cache is carrying a maintenance log which really does need to be addressed by the cache owner.

The guidelines indicated that periodic visits to check on the cache, as well as prompt attention to any logs that indicate there is a problem, are part of the [**cache owners responsibilities.**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines#listingmaintenance) If you can't attend to the issue promptly, then you need to [**Disable it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235) - I have Disabled it for you this time.

**Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) by 29th August,** so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?

You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:

- Repair and/or Replace your cache or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.

- If you don't plan on fixing it up then please [**Archive it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.

- If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (by 29th August). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it.

You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache page, it is likely that I will unfortunately have to de-list (Archive) it on the basis that it has been abandoned.

Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the instructions posted above.

The goal today was to pick up a heap up caches to build up the fav points for an upcoming Grampians trip and aim for a new gemstone badge - 120 caches in a day.
Mostly easy finds and a good size which is great to see. A few people out today on motorbikes and exploring however relatively muggle free. Nice variety of bush land with lovely views in parts.

Log book very wet. Note: on some where too wet to sign, placed new bit of paper it but it won't last.

With a free afternoon today I drove East to take another bite out of the Mount Disappointment trail. In just over two hours I visited 30 cache locations and made 26 finds, with four DNF's.
The weather was overcast but pleasant and I had an enjoyable afternoon. My thanks to carkisser and JSando for placing and maintaining this series.
The log book in this cache is wet and requires replacement.

I have been meaning to do the Mt. Disappointment trail for some now but never seemed to get around to it. A couple of weeks ago, when the Parkville challenge caches started getting published I realised that I needed certain cache types and attributes to qualify...this trail provided them. This finally gave me the push I needed to go out and start the trail.

I haven't been here before so it was great to go somewhere new.

On the whole it was a successful day as I made my way to #70 with 61 finds, 7 DNF (3 of which had multiple DNFs logged) and 2 had been disabled due to missing caches.

A very pleasant way to spend a day and nice weather too. TNLN. TFTC.

This was one epic series, it had it all, easy finds, tougher finds, lots of dirt road driving, steep hills, bush bashing, open logged forest, deep dense forests and a leech or 2 to throw in the mix. Both me and TheSkype traveled from the ACT to cache in Victoria and this series certainly is one to bump up the tally which I personally believe is only for die-hard cachers. Do not bring a newbie here, it might get tough, zap their mind and they might never want to cache again. We camped at Andersons Garden campground and this was our base for the 3 days we spent caching. Thanks again pleasure to do business and explore this historic part of Victoria. TFTC. Day 2

#2594 Found with the Green-martian, both visiting from Canberra. Geocached in a 4x4 Outback for over 16 hours, over 3 days. Averaged 20 finds per hour hitting 30 finds an hour between #206 to #235. Found a total of 323 caches with several DNFs. What a marvel it was finding this series. All park n grabs with the car and GPS covered in dust. Weather was warm for April. Thanks carkisser & JSando for this epic series of caches.

During a little warm-up here earlier this week I found about 65 caches in one afternoon. Today I returned for a full day effort, starting at 8am and stopping at 6:30pm having covered about 100km. Without rushing too much (all logs were signed and dated in full, caches rehidden properly, and photos taken of every GZ and logsheet) I ended up with 230+ finds for the day which is a surprising record for me Smile.
Other than a shaky start near the residences (5 DNFs in the first 11) the rest went pretty well as I searched for them in numbered sequence from #1 to #240.
All were found easily other than #4,7,9,10,11,15,37,62,79,142 and 158.
It was nice and quiet on the trail all day - just saw 2 other cars and 2 police patrols on a mild dry sunny day. Perfect caching conditions.
Thanks for the cache and the series, carkisser and JSando.

Despite the dense foliage this one stood out like a trig beacon!

So after our very enjoyable walk geohusband picked us up and we continued on picking up more of this series. We really enjoyed our afternoon, placing a series of this size is amazing loved the etching on the tops. TFTC and this series I would imagine one day we may be back to do some more.

Teamed up with BPF for a run at part of this series. Made about 50 finds which is huge for me as BPF swapped between finding and driving. Thanks

Today I have come to do the start of the Mt Disappointment series. I have done No 100 to 137 by car many months ago. My day started off by getting dropped off at cache No 1 by the wife and I walked as much a I could as she drove to Shepperton and back. I started at 11am and managed to walk 16km in 5 hours from the start to cache No 63. The walk was good and there was a few people around today, One of which was parked next to a cache so I had to explain what I was doing. I didn't see any snakes which was also good. All the caches I found were in good condition with only 1 DNF. I think next time I come back I will do the rest by car as my legs were very sore and scratched up on the way home. Thanks to carkisser & JSando for placing this series.

13:50, 28 December, 2017. #1157.

With a date to tick off the caching calendar and the need to knock up just a few more to have found as many caches in 2017 as I had found in all my four previous years of caching it was time to pay Mt. Disappointment another visit. It wasn't a serious assault today, just a minor hit for some quick number building.

The geo-wife and I started where we left off last time, at #27 with her driving and me in and out of the car like a jack-in-the-box. Goal for the day was to find 18 caches to get my total to 1134. We overachieved a little with the total for the day being 44 Smile. We could have found more, but had set a time limit, which we stuck to despite the temptation to keep going for that one more cache Wink.

The OCD side of me would normally want to keep running the numbers in sequence, but today the alternate logic of cleaning up the little off-shoot before going on in numeric sequence kicked in and I did the run from #181 to #194 before resuming the sequence at #41. After the diversion, and a short stop at Blair's Hut for lunch, it was back into it.

There was a bit of a trend with damp logs in today's hunt and this cache was one of them. The log was so wet, it was difficult to write on and will probably need replacing. Otherwise, the cache is in good condition.

TNLNSL. TFTC and the series carkisser and JSando.

The clouds are about now but it is good to have a cool day. Side of lid is cracked but screw-able. Log book damp but writable. Plastic bag replaced due to holes in original bag.

***Team ZACAATT does 100 caches in 24 hours***

At 5.37am Tally Tiger, Zedaycee and Angelique_Anja were bundled into the car and headed towards Mount Disappointment. With one goal in mind (well 100 goals...), The mission was underway.

At 7.07am Zedaycee retrieved the first cache. It was all thrusters go then with 10 caches collected in 30 minutes.

There were:
Ducks blocking the road.
Endless scratches.
Falls.
Never ending GPS woes.
Red rashes that won't go away...
Wriggly sticks (we DNF'd that one...)
Stunning views.
Lots of pretty flowers!
Logs learning to swim.
Plenty of geopiles.
Christmas carols playing.
Angelique_Anja's sandwich collection.
Party collection of lollies.
Logs, stumps and trees of every variety.
And caches upon caches, upon caches!!!

At 5.20pm Angelique_Anja retrieved cache 100.

All in all, 103 caches were done today by this exhausted team. 6 DNF's, not too had considering!

But we did it! We really, really did it!
