Went to check on cache today, and have made the decision to archive. The area is overgrown, and the flax impenetrable in places. Thank you to all previous finders, its been fun
We hunted and hunted but unfortunately today was not our day for finding this cache. Our New Year caching trip in 2024 was in and around Auckland with Lis's Crew. Today we were planning on going in and around Titirangi however a FTF popped up this morning at the Cascades so we have made a detour on our travels. What a great way to spend a sunny summers day.
I was up in Auckland for a few days visiting my Sister and Bro in Law and during that time i visited a few caches closer to where they live but one day i went out with my school friend ( we started school together - a couple of weeks apart - way back in 1953 )and we spent the day together walking through this lovely little part of the bush and visiting the kauri trees down the track. This was the first time i have experienced having my shoes - and my calves! - sprayed in an effort to prevent further spread of kauri die back . It was lovely walking through the the waitakere ranges again , some thing i have not done for many years and while i did not know prior where we were going once i got here i had to check for geocaches on the track and yes there were several to be found so that was a plus for me ! my friend enjoyed me locating them but with white shoes on she looked from a far ! It was great to find some regular sized caches in a metropolis . all was well with these caches and i took nothing and left nothing as i was not carrying any with me on the day ! . thank you for these cache Much appreciated
Found it on the way to Bethells Beach (Te Henga) ....
I had 2 x spectacular DNFs here !!!
Last time the place was full of rubbish ...
Anyway ... Today armored with an extra hint from a previous Finder decided to give one more try ... It took some time to locate as it was covered by some debrills ...
Anyway done and dusted!
More to the right Folks! And inside the "favorite" NZ cachers plant. And you should be awarded!
Good luck and TFTC!

Sorry team. It was probably there but the bush was so overgrown it was hard to find. Spent too long on this one for that reason.
The second of my redemption of DNF caches and where I parked for my Spraggs walk today. Checked further to the right than last time and after peering in, I spotted the cache, extracted signed and replaced. Even took a pic for a previous DNFer.
Not the day I was expecting today really. Headed out earlyish with a plan to do some small bush strolls and walks in non-KDD affected areas, then home via the grocery store to meet up with our son and his family. Unfortunately as we headed to Westgate the sky blackened and some rain began so a change of plans and the groceries were grabbed early and headed home to put away. With mrs capperz having a knitting target before Thursday deadline she stayed at home and I headed out for a nice total of 20 finds and quite a few supernannny caches to get ever closer to a century of finds. Thansk to all CO s for their placements.

Decided to stay in and around Henderson area after nice CITO Event earlier today.
My second attempt here.
GZ area is now full of used tires ... Well maybe another time or not.
Thanks anyway.

Quickly popped in here to have a look for this one. At first I couldn't get the cache details on my phone so was not really sure where to look - found it quite tricky. After a few goes I finally managed to get the info and hint and after that it was a really quick find. Thanks for the cache, all good here.
Not my first visit here I'll admit. Coming back with a previous finder was a big bonus this time. Thanks Rusty. Cache all in good order. Watch out for bits of blackberry!!!
Having seen the string of dnfs including one from the CO who has adopted the cache, I wasn't expecting to make a find here but thought I would have a quick look using the 5 min rule. On reaching gz I sighed and thought oh bugger, flax but I read the hint, stood back and thought about where it might be and then found the cache in the first place I looked, so a quick easy find for me!! As the cache hadn't been found for nearly 2 years it's no longer attached and the log was sopping wet despite a double container but I managed to dry it off enough to sign and returned it to where I found it with a little less natural cover over it, but still nicely tucked away.
Well I must have been following Merlot58 around the Scenic drive today
A quick find for me, so I have removed the old cache, somehow it had got a hole in it, so have replaced with a new small container. Details have been updated on cache page

SD:8 (L) Don't rip your pants (Auckland) was transferred from alligatorsnz to user rustynz
Sadly not able to find today, mixed messages about being attached, flax diving, and rolling to places unknown made this a tricky one to find. Sorry to add another DNF
No logs will be accepted - During New Zealand COVID 19 lockdown - level 4 and 3

Found after a bit of searching. Involved practically crawling into the flax bush to get it!
Almost gave up on this one, due to my dislike of flax rummaging. But when I checked the last place, I could vaguely see it, and nabbed the cache. It is in good condition. I didn't rip my pants, but ripped the upper layer of my finger skin due to a thorn... beware... TFTC
This one gave me quite a bit of bother, could not see any red stems or cache. Decided to call it and call into see a friend for a cuppa approx 100m down the road. After a cuppa I decided there were going to be no dnf's today so went back. As per previous logs it is no longer attached, it had rolled slightly to the other side of the fence. Popped it back where it shoud be. Must be colour blind still found no red stems.
Couldn't see any red stems or the cache. I hate flax especially wet flax as it was today.
As there is now a Rahui over the Waitakeres I decided to grab a few road side caches. This took me a little while as the GPS was bouncing sending me back and forth but I eventually spotted something that fitted the hint description and there was the cache TFTC!
You hit the nail on the head with your hint description of the area. Fortunately, I picked the right one (thanks, Mr. Garmin) and then spotted the cache before I had to use any of the keys on the upper row of my keyboard. TFTC.
Took quite awhile as there was a lot of spider webs and wet rotten leaves acting as camo, thank you
This one did take longer than it should have but after a while of checking out which side I should enter from I finally figured out the Right side and the cache was spotted looking at me all along. TFTC
After a bit of an explore around Karekare and Piha on this wonderful autumn day it is time to head for home. Nice to take the scenic route along scenic drive. I parked up and began the search. Started at the wrong end of the f#@$ so it took a bit longer than it could have. Cheers for the cache placement!
When I saw the flax my heart sank... so do all I could not to venture in there - and was rewarded with a quick find of the cache. T4tc
Been walking up the road for a few km when I got here and had seen 2 cars go past, now as im hiding in bushes trying to locate the car its like a race track past on the road. Just typical. Cache was not secured to the thing I was thinking it would be.
#3015. I have been up in Auckland on a field trip and had to go cold turkey with geocaching for the past 10 days. Well I arranged to get a ride back to the airport with my mother 'n' law and her partner. Both know about my little obsession and have helped with a few cache finds in the past. Decided I only had a time to do a few roadside park and grabs today so this series was ideal. Managed to find five of them in the hour available and missed another three. One I think is missing and the other two just looked a bit too tricky with the time we had to search today. This one I guessed what part of the clue was about but I didn't get the other part right initially. My caching companion was over the fence and searching everywhere. Suddenly the lightbulb moment happened and a quick search had the cache in hand. The nice clean log sheet was signed and the cache returned as found. Thanks for hiding the cache here.
passing by: placed a new log together with the latest "anti condensation concept installed for in field testing:-)"
Out picking up some caches along the Scenic Drive. Its been a long time since I have been along here. Nice quiet weekday. The log is very wet. Had trouble writing on it.
Stopped in the pull over area and immediately spotted the hint and knew where the cache would be. The cache was quickly found, a bit higher than suggested by the hint.
This cache was holding a bit of water but the log is still writable. Thanks.

Couldn't find. Area has quite a lot of rubbish which may not help. Maybe next time.
Very good find today while geocaching around the area.
Took a couple of minutes to find - was worried about the f#&x but found ok.

Yorkshirekiwi83 and I went out for a few hours this afternoon to clean up some more West Auckland caches. We returned to Scenic Drive to finish of this series of caches. A nice easy find here, TFTC!

Out and about with Team Welsh to grab the SD series (and any other cache that we passed) along Scenic Drive. A dose of the flu meant that the plan was to do the drivebys and leave the walking for another day. Started at the end and went to the beginning. Thanks.
Had arranged to met up with Trout-fly today to pick up as many drive by caches as we could. Had a great time finding 35/35 for the day, Fortunately this was a nice quick find in a place which is not our fav to look but this one proved nice and easy. TFTC
Today Mrs Biggles and I decided to drive from one end of the Scenic Drive to the other. it's been a few years since either of us did that. We managed to find a few caches along the way. This one took a bit of searching too! All good in the end though. TFTC, Biggles.
I thought Mr Flax4 would spot this one according to the Hint ?! & as I don't do F#@$ it was up to Mr Bay7 to make the Grab. Thanks
This reminded me of my other cache,except........This was very easy.
I didn't rip my pants...........Thank Goodness
Nice camo

Speedhog62 and I decided to attempt the new scenic drive caches.
I loved that each one was slightly different.
Some were definitely more challenging than others.
Picked Up numbers 1 - 11 in the trail plus another new one.
(I had already found #12).
All in all, was a good journey and there are some pretty amazing views from up here.
Cheers, and TFTC!

Never mind ripping your pants, what about the other stuff which tears your hands, arms and legs to shreds and the other stuff that leaves sharp little presents under the skin.
hey Jag50... how on earth did you manage to tangle with all the rippy stuff... we placed it as a stand and reach..?
I was just heading out the door to get takeaways for dinner when bleep bleep!! Ohhh, ran back inside grabbed GPS, ran back outside. Unfortunately it was peak hour traffic, and does anyone actually try to keep up to the speed limit, NOO. I hate that when that happens.... I'm heading up Mountain rd to Scenic Dr and I'm behind the slowest drivers ever who don't know what the accelerator pedal is used for. They turned off and I thankfully had the race track (sorry I mean road) to myself. Found the off road area to park in, no one around, boy this is looking good! After a brief search I found the cache and open it and viola - empty log, thank you, I'll have that! Nice.

Mrs H was busy taking a shower and Mr S was busy handling geo kids, when this cache was published. still after getting ready for the event thought to try this, on the way. GZ was clear when we arrived and the hint helped us to find it easily. we saw that Gorby has signed a ftf 30 minutes before. we left soon for the event and what we see.. Gorby sleeping in his car, waiting for the next...
