Out today grabbing, some caches and going for a bit of a drive. We had originally planned for the beach, but with the weather decided on this instead.Nice hide, easy grab and all in good condition. Thanks for the cache #1769

Perfect mix of hidden in plain sight, cool cache with a good name. Enjoying our little drive to find caches.TFTC: #267

A solo excursion for Mr Coblet. My last find of the morning after a lovely explore of Piha.I stopped to look for this one a few weeks ago but couldn't find it at the time, but today my geosenses must have been charged with the magic of Piha as I quickly located the warm coat and spotted the cache.A nice find to end my morning in the area and another smiley on this road. Thanks rustynz

Found this cache while out on a drive with our Scottish guests. They were most impressed with the huge kauri tree.Cache was where hint lead us. All safe and dry. Thanks for the placement.

29-Feb-24
Avenged the DNF finally!Nicely done here! Thanks

10-Feb-24
No need for a coat today, never mind a warm coat, although at times a raincoat might have been useful. I arrived here seconds behind KBClannz, timed it so they had just enough time to find the cache first and keep my exposure to sunlight to a minimum.

10-Feb-24
M25: needed a raincoat to find a cache under a warm coat. Nice little find, log all good and signed here. TFTC.

Onward up scenic drive we go. This was perfect height for miss 5 to reach to. TFTC

I don't restart work again until the 8th of Jan. With free accommodation I decided a geocaching holiday in Auckland was a good way to spend this week off. Most of the week I geocached with Yvettetb but the beginning and end I was on my own. Yesterdays focus area was around the Orakei Basin area and Saint John's. Today it was going to be Titirangi but on spotting a new cache publication our plans changed and we headed straight to the Waitakeries. We took a while to find this but I was very pleased when I spotted it. Such a big gap in finds here. I enjoyed the 2 minute walk to the big kauri too. Only at the end did we realise the significance of L and R on the cache titles. Thanks for your cache trail out here Smile

03-Jan-24
Woohoo found this cache after it being lonely for almost 3 years. Went for the '5' minute walk to the large Kauri Tree nearby. Our New Year caching trip in 2024 was in and around Auckland with Lis's Crew. Today we were planning on going in and around Titirangi however a FTF popped up this morning at the Cascades so we have made a detour on our travels. Thanks for bringing me here and TFGC. What a great way to spend a sunny summers day.

Toom a little bit of time to find this but got there once I'd opened my eyes!

With a free weekend stretching before me like a free thing I needed to come up with a plan as to what I would do with the available caching time. I decided upon a Friday trip to Piha, Saturday a trip out to Waitawa Regional Park and Clevedon and Sunday will be Orewa and Millwater. No real goals, just find some caches and enjoy the weather.
I left work a little early so as to beat the traffic through the main busy bits, and I was successful thankfully. I managed a few caches and it was lovely and quiet everywhere before the weekend warms up with people everywhere.

This one has given me heartache on two previous occasions. With a few recent finds, I tried it again today and got lucky. How did I miss it before? TFTC.

11-Nov-20
As I'm staying in the area this week I thought I would continue finding the caches in this series. Once I figured out that I didn't need to go into the bush line and found the right warm coat it was a quick find

08-Aug-20
Decided to stay in the area of Scenic Drive after doing Adventure Lab in Arataki.
I had DNF here before ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was out for a drive, on the Scenic Drive Wink

Stopped in on this one, like previous finders it took awhile. It was not until I searched in a place I had not looked at previously, that I spied the cache container smiling back at me (well it was there, but possibly not smiling!). My muggle companion was very patient, as the minutes slipped away.

Happy to find this one, thanks for the hide alligatorsnz Big Grin

Didn't find this..

Had one final look and found it !!!!
Awesome many thanks...

27-Jan-20
Didn’t find but then as no one has for over a year I’m not surprised.

04-Oct-19
Did not see. Maybe another time.

13-Oct-18
Was in plain sight, but not the ‘warm coat’ we were thinking of - wouldn’t exactly call it a coat? Cool that the cache was just ‘there’ and no need to go rustling in bushes etc.

07-Oct-18
No clue on this one! Had me stumped. However, during some frustrating searching and trying figuring out what the warm coat was, and failing, I decided to take a break and check out the "Large Kauri" across the road (that I was considering not to visit due to time constraints). It is definitely a Large Kauri alright! A magnificent sight. Crazy to think there were so many more of these back in the days. Will return in the near future hopefully.

10-Sep-18
This one gave me a spot of bother but persistance paid off.

31-Jul-18
My GPS was all over the place. I think I found something that fit, but no cache for me today.

03-Jun-18
We headed out this morning to find 15 caches to boost our numbers for this calendar date. Makes quite a change from our 'normal' one cache a day streak caching.
We have looked for this one before, but in fading light, so giving it another go this morning. Still no go so we resorted to a PAF and made a quick find within seconds. We had given that a cursory check but had concentrated our search on another area that seemed more fitting of the hint.

21-May-18
Today was the day that I tried to sign off all the caches on the roadside of Scenic Drive. I was very thankful that I didn't have my snail shell in tow but then being an ex-Aucklander I knew what this road was like.

I was also thankful that today was a weekday when the traffic is a tad lighter.

After a couple of previous DNFs I was dubious if I could find this one but I did. Cache and log okay.

Cheers for the cache.

26-Jan-18
I noted all the DNF's on this cache, and the caliber last signed.. and was certain thus must be missing....
You can only imagine my supreme honor to discover that in fact, it would seem i have foiled the Master of Camoflage.. the cache is exactly where it has always been...

Out with evilno9 today to clean up some geocaches still around in the waitaks. Searched for a while but found in the end. TFTC

14-Oct-17
Time for a driveby with alpenmilch80 as we cleaned up a few more Titirangi caches. Found the more northern end to our liking as a80 eventually made the find after a bit of a search. TFTC

After a bit of an explore around Karekare and Piha on this wonderful autumn day it is time to head for home. Nice to take the scenic route along scenic drive. I parked up and began the search. The hint made sense to me, but even so this took the longest (of caches found today) to actually track down. Had to get myself in the exact right place to view. Even then I missed it on the first pass or two. Cheers for the cache placement!

30-Mar-17
I was driving through and had a moment to nab a cache on the way through so I stopped at this one. My eyes weren't serving me well for a bit and I paced this way and that for a short while and then the eureka moment came - i'm sure my eyes danced over this a few times! Cache was safe and in good condition - thanks for creating this series!

#3016. I have been up in Auckland on a field trip and had to go cold turkey with geocaching for the past 10 days. Well I arranged to get a ride back to the airport with my mother 'n' law and her partner. Both know about my little obsession and have helped with a few cache finds in the past. Decided I only had a time to do a few roadside park and grabs today so this series was ideal. Managed to find five of them in the hour available and missed another three. One I think is missing and the other two just looked a bit too tricky with the time we had to search today. As we pulled up, I read the hint to my willing caching companion. We both saw the likely spots and headed back to check them out. I searched one area and he did the other patch. Nothing was seen. So we swapped over and I saw the cache immediately. My companion gave me a sheepish look as I pointed out where it was hanging right in the spot he had just searched. Never mind, it does take a while to get your eye into these types of hides. The nice clean log sheet was signed and returned as found. Thanks for hiding the cache here.

CZECH
nenašli jsme ani po delším hledání, jen všude okolo je hodně odpadků

nice and dry... no repairs required but we would ask that people please look with their eyes not their tree tearing talons.. you dont need to clear any vegetation to see it...

Out with Vistra finishing up those we could get to from Scenic Drive.

How frustrating is this cache, PAF and it still took us ages after that. TFTC

Yorkshirekiwi83 and I went out for a few hours this afternoon to clean up some more West Auckland caches. We returned to Scenic Drive to finish of this series of caches. This was this hardest find for us - it took us ages to locate, even after YK83 made a PAF call! TFTC!

Out and about with Team Welsh to grab the SD series (and any other cache that we passed) along Scenic Drive. A dose of the flu meant that the plan was to do the drivebys and leave the walking for another day. Started at the end and went to the beginning. Thanks.

07-Jan-16
Had arranged to met up with Trout-fly today to pick up as many drive by caches as we could. Had a great time finding 35/35 for the day, This one caused us the most trouble of the day, so many options and nearly used a PAF when TF announced that he had found it. Thanks

Today Mrs Biggles and I decided to drive from one end of the Scenic Drive to the other. it's been a few years since either of us did that. We managed to find a few caches along the way. This one took quite a bit of searching before I finally spotted the cunningly hidden cache. I was all over the place for a while before my GPS settled on a particular area. TFTC, Biggles.

Out cruising out west picking up a few

Got quite frustrated with this one until I went back and re-read the previous logs. Expanded search area a little and for once I picked the correct way to go first...cheers V.

Doesn't help when you read the hint wrong & end up looking in the wrong type of Trees. Finally made the find.

31-Oct-15
Needed to fill in a day on the calendar and hoping to make this my best month ever so set off on a road trip along the Scenic Drive. Quick stop as it looked like it might rain soon. FTF for this cache. TFTC

26-Oct-15
Headed up Scenic Drive and this was stop #11. The hint helped make this a quick find. Walked across the road to have a look at the huge Kauri. TFTC

24-Oct-15
This one was more difficult but we got there in the end. Its worth checking out the large kauri across the road about 50m along track for those interested.

24-Oct-15
Took a while was just about to give up because co-ords were out by 5-6 metres, but then BINGO.

Speedhog62 and I decided to attempt the new scenic drive caches.
I loved that each one was slightly different.
Some were definitely more challenging than others.
Picked Up numbers 1 - 11 in the trail plus another new one.
(I had already found #12).
All in all, was a good journey and there are some pretty amazing views from up here.
Cheers, and TFTC!

I had just done no8 in this series and had some time to kill (is there a no9?) so I drove back to this cache and I think this one in this series took the longest to find, nicely hidden!
