You gotta laugh.some caches will sit in plain view and last for ages while some tricky ones get discovered and ruined in days. This bamboo is amazing and if you stop for a minute you can hear the clapping of the stems in the wind, its very cool. Enjoyed the walk very much
With the weather being so lovely today I decided I had to get out of the house for a bit and stretch my legs, and that means grabbing some caches too.I had tried this one a few years ago, but I think it must have been too overgrown. This time upon arriving at GZ I had the cache in hand in seconds. Great hide. TFTC #1726
Love this one. Ive walked past a few times before and not looked very hard, but it was a good find!
With a good hint was pleased to make a quick find. Enjoyed the camo on this one [TFTC]
Favourite! Didn't expect that and Cat got to it! Track not officially open yet but accessible tftc!!
Really enjoying the effort you guys have gone to with these for camo. Great little hides for family walks. Thank you team
No luck for us here today, looks like the area has had a trim recently. No finds here for a year.
Stood back then noticed something that looked a bit different. Yep its the cache. Very clever. Tftc
Decided I would come and grab this one as well, didn’t realize it had to do with bamboo… normally I despise bamboo containers since they can be impossible to find.
Upon arrival I was admiring all the creaky bamboo and then spotted something that seemed out of place. Fortunately it was the container and I found it in less than two minutes!
It’s nicely crafted and bamboo cache that I can appreciate!
Thanks!

235. Was over at some friends house swimming and saw this one was close by so we came and found. Found with BSlappa. TFTC
Moved the car a shamefully short distance to access this one and the next and soon arrived at GZ. For once I lucked in and was staring at tyhe cache straight away so extracted and signed and replaced as quick as you like. Cheers.
When I was logging yesterdays finds earlier I noted I was just one cache find from achieving this months Reach the Peak target and so decided to gather the required find(s) to get me to the top. I've been neglecting some of the caches in and around Beach Haven as I have a plan to get some of the tougher ones with my kayak anytime soon, and the ones along the walkways have been similarly overlooked for the following reason - none whatsoever.
So I jumped in the car over lunch and headed onto the trails for 3 quick ones before getting back into it at home on return. This area is kiwiscot19 realm so good to get a few of that CO's for which they are thanked.

It's a gorgeous day and I haven't done these walks in this area before. So made this one my first one after doing the C.O's rather cool multi and after this was going to 1 Pine, 2 Pine, 3 Pine....... No!. Took me about 5 mins to find the cache, and upon spotting it, was sure that was what I was looking for. But I never had any tweezers with me and the paper was quite stuck in there, so I just took a foto kiwisot19, and obviously you can see it if you'd like.
But right then I got notification of a capperz puzzle which I could see was an easy solve so **THE RUSH WAS ON** for a potential **FTF**. I got back to the car, did the math and started the rush to the new cache, but who might get there before me??? Hahaha.... the C.O knows.

As we approached GZ, other geocachers were in the area, so carried on the walkway. On the way back it was an easy find. Actually left my phone on the nearby fence and didn't realise til at home after lunch. Quick drive back and luckily it was still there. TFTC
Finally got a bit of time away from the kids to go out and stretch our legs. Wife had never walked this track despite living in the area her whole life. TFTF
Nice easy find after not being able to find it previously! Cool camo on the cache. Not sure about the hint but the cache just stood out a little! TFTC
Found with Daddypig123.
Decided we had enough time and daylight to try this one before collecting the girls from Glenfield. As we got closer to GZ Daddypig123's first instinct was the fence until I read out the hint. Before I had chance to tell him how much further he'd found it.
No tweezers but I have perfected the art of extracting using the other end of the pen.

Really enjoyed this one . I feel like it could take ages to find and we got lucky . It definitely had us bamboozled
Half of the cache found pushed right down inside a bamboo stump. Luckilly it just happens to be the half that really matters. Have moved it a few metres to a new spot. Can still be accessed easily from the path. Happy hunting.

We have changed the co-rds slightly to hopefully reflect the new position of the hide. Happy hunting

Think this may be MIA - Looks like some of the locals have been doing some chopping down of the bamboo. Did not spot the hide as I went past while on a run. Will check again and replace if necessary once we are out of Level 3 restrictions.
Found while on a trip north with tmann421.
Enjoying discovering the areas and finding some caches.

Another good cache found today with woolwood9
We enjoyed walking / driving around the area
*Thanks for putting out this container for us to find!*

Very tricky, ww9 found this one while I searched a little bit away.

After reading some of the comments, expected this to be trickier. But it turned out to be not too far from the path and easily extracted. There’s something a wee bit creepy about the sound of bamboo creaking in the wind. Tftc
Found on a quick geohunt with darkangel - spotter farily quickly actually; the access there through the muddy path was the hardest part!
My mum (SethRaven) came over to the Shore for the day so we could go Geocaching together. This was find #9 after 10 searches . . . . for us today. Bamboo . . . . always a bit of a challenge . . . . we read previous finders logs . . . . we had a quick poke and prod and pull and then we checked out something that didn't belong . . . . and then the ph honed in a little better and Mum came to where I was . . . . . she moved slightly and then she said she had found it . . . . and she had . . . . SUPER CLEVER HIDE . . . . . I really liked this one. Thanks for the hide.
Out on the North Shore on this beautiful day spending time with my son (2FLYTim) Geocaching . . . . . this was our 10th cache of the day & our 9th find . . . . . . well . . . . IT IS BAMBOO . . . need I say anymore . . . . . we looked at something that was "out" of the ordinary but NO!! Tim honed the phone in a lil better and I walked to where he was and BAM . . . . there it was . . . . . very crafty little hide . . . . earns a fav from us today. Thanks so much kiwiscot
Out in Beachhaven for a second day trying to dodge the showers but not too successfully[B)].
The track was a tad muddy today.
Cheers for the cache.

Out in the area collecting these caches today.great area and considering the difficulty rating it didnt take us to long too find.something just didnt seem quite right.
Checked after the recent run of DNF's including G2 who had found the hide previously. Can confirm that it is still in place. Hide can be seen from the path. The environment has changed over the last few years. New bamboo has grown which now makes this hide much more difficult to find than from when it was 1st put in place. The camo has aged and weathered and now blends in really well. We did not set out to make this a difficult hide to find which until now has been the case. Have now raised the difficulty level of this hide by a point. Happy hunting.
Oh no, I got totally bamboozled and missed the forest for the trees... Pity.
Took us quite a bit of time until one of the little ones started saying "I think I found it, i think I found it" and sure enough he did. TFTC
Once again teamed up with McCuthen Cache Clan for an excursion into the "Land of the Northern Jafa" to see what we could drum up in the way of cache finds. Our more recent attempts to locate caches have been excellent but usually before the first hour was out we were wet to the skin (and remained that way for the remainder of the day. Today we were hoping for better weather, and apart from one heavy shower managed to acheive our goal.
Setting off from Mr McC's at 4am we were working to be home at a reasonable hour (according to our respective wives), and we even managed this, along with locating 62 caches for the day, so all in a success for two southerners. Signed as "MCD" or variation there of.
I will apologise now for the "copy and paste" logs but yes we did have a great day out and enjoyed ourselves and a big thank you to all the cache owners that put in the effort to keep the game (obsession) going for the rest of us.
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

Out on a late night cache run, starting with an event and ending with an event. We signrd the log as HOAC. Thanks for placing this cache and making our night enjoyable
I don't know how but Theo my six year old found it instantly! Nice work from Melba hunters!
Quick stroll along the track after work before it got dark. When I saw the vegetation at the GL, I was a little concerned, but ended up spotting it quickly - thanks!
Had to laugh when I spotted the camo'd item just sticking out like that. I had ventured a little to far into the suspect area, and only saw this on my way clambering back out. Nice clever hide almost in plain view, cheers
Very proud of my hawk eyes for this one, screamed LOUDLY when a cockroach slithered out of a piece of bamboo. Found after a bit of searching, lovely to listen to the bamboo.

Knew what we were in for before we got to GZ but that didn't make it any easier - kept at it and after extracting what we could from some of the earlier logs teotocchi was able to make the well crafted find and we could head back to the car. Nicely done - TFTC
This cache didn't bamboozle Mr Jag50 for too long, thank goodness as it could have turned into quite a hunt!
We surely would have been bamboozled had it not been for Mr Jag50 spotting it relatively quickly.
Out caching in the area with Merlot58 and Aiden29. There were lots of places this cache could be hidden, but we were relieved that Mr JAG50 quickly found this cache, before the mozzies could eat us alive.
Family walk along this stretch if the track. Had parked at Ranch Ave and were walking to Beach Haven Rd. I had an idea of what i was looking for as i have found a similar one out west. We looked on the way past but couldn't find it. So had another look on the way back and found it! WooHoo! Cache in great condition but log paper damp. Managed to sign it. TFTC
yep we were well bamboozled.. we could certainly see the potential for nothing short of an evil cache in this location - the design was even floating through the head.. but nothing made sense including the gps wandering all over the the place.. eventually we just had to move on because after all we were supposed to be on a walk.. "not a walk joined by periods of standing around longer then the actual walking"
Amazed myself by spotting it as I approached, GPS was still counting down but I was obviously looking at the plant.

Evening walk turning into night walk. Some of us got scared, some of us tried to encourage them to overcome the fears, switch off the torch and go into the dark and spooky bamboo canopy
Great cache, and has a certain appeal, doing it in the night

Thanks kiwiscot family ! Was here once before but too dark and spooky , as I cache a lot on my own ,,,, Returned in daylight and soon spotted it ! Love the work you did for this ! Favourite !
We used the Packham Place entrance and made the short walk along to GZ. One of us said "it will be that" before the other had even had a chance to get bamboozled - and of course she was right. TFTC.
Out and about on a lovely summer evening for a spot of cache detection. With it getting dark now I decided that this would be my last cache for the night. I parked up, realised that that wasn't actually an access way and moved on to the actual one. Made the short walk to GZ where the torch was very much in demand. Started my search a little early so checked many incorrect spots. Should have trusted the GPSr more as it was surprisingly accurate given the cover. Spotted something that didn't look exactly right and closer inspection revealed the hide. Nice effort on the camo here. A quick completion of the formalities to escape the mosquitoes. Cheers for the cache placement!
Needed a cache find today, so selected this one. Later afternoon, a nice stroll to GZ. Thought this one might take me a while, and was pleasantly surprised to spot it after not too long a search. Great camo. SL. TFTC.
Been past here a few times for various caches- The parrot on the way in made its usual screeching noises or is that...look geocacher hunting?
Nice little walk and the best use of this type of cache I have seen in a while. Well done!

I don't think Mr P or I have been in this area before so we were delighted to find this delightful path. Quick find of this cache but had to sign the log with a wet bamboo stick as pen was left in the car. sorry. T4tc
This looks to be an awesome place for a hide !!!!
But getting dark now and the bamboo is making real spooky noises...
Was so hoping to get it tonight as in area....will be back in daylight !!!!

We had 14 caches unfound between our home in Wgp and the Harbour Bridge so today was the day to find them all. 100% find rate and the shore nice and clean again. GPS died near GZ so used the caching instinct and good observation and the cache was found nice and quickly. TFTC
Finsh work early today nice and sunny so jak and me thought we better knock over some more caches

#321 (#4 FTF) Well sitting at work completing some exciting documentation when the phone lets out a "Beep Beep" for a new cache.
First few listings where a bit far away but what do you know, two of the caches are within 15 minutes drive. Hmm now what would I prefer to be doing, documentation or geocaching. Sneaking out of workplace I quickly changed out of office camo in muggle camo and made my way out. Now the two caches where about 10 minutes apart. It was close to the end of school so I had to make a call, do I go for the remote one or the one which references "avoid at certain times because of mini muggles".
Well decided this one was more likely not to be collected. I might have a chance too because FTF competition in West Auckland is fierce and might not be so tough on the North Shore. It was also a work day which played into my favour.
Plugged GPS coords into phone, drove and parked as close as I could to GZ. Quickly got out and casually walked to GZ. When I got to GZ my heart sank. Bamboo bloody everywhere. Then started my hunt. 5 minutes later I have cache in hand and for the moment of truth, had I made it here first? having to get tweezers out to pull out the log, it looked neatly wrapped. What a great sign I thought. I feel like Charlie opening a Wonka bar for the golden ticket! and just as I finally unroll the log, yes you guess it, BLANK !!! Woohoo FTF. Quickly signed, dated, timed and placed back for the STF.
OK now to see if I can make the other cache.
