We have arrived on Kangaroo Island for a 5 day break. We first had this trip planned several years back but that year KI had an extreme fire situation happen and we were offered a refund on our trip which we took. We have waited this long so that the island could regrow and show herself at her best.We have been using geocaching to guide us around , today is our final day into our break we can certainly attest to her beauty. The caching has been interesting and we have many earth caches to write up and send to COs.All the caches we have found so far are in good condition. We did replace one log sheet.SL TFTC

We could only spare one day and we cached as much as we could but didn't have time to have a good look around. The cache was found with no problems. Interesting history. Well after a whirl wind tour of Tasmania to help with 3 challenges that Im working on, I got back in late Tuesday night then packed the Geowagon and headed off to SA early Wednesday morning to attend the Leap Year Mega and to also tick off some LGAs along the way as well.Well after crossing the border the other day and staying in Millicent, Wellington, Cape Jervis and the Kingscote last night its now time to slowly head back towards Penneshaw to catch the ferry back to the mainland.Kangaroo Island has been on my bucket list for years and Roaming Howie had to squeeze back into the Geowagon put up with my driving and poor navigation for another day.Continuing along with our Geocaching expedition and visiting the Flinders Chase NP in the South West corner of the islandyesterday was one of the highlights of the Island. We will see what we can find on the slow trip back today and I didnt realise that the island so so big and I also didnt realise that Kangaroo Island was the first permanent settlement of South Australia even if it lasted only 4 years. The cache was soon located and we added our names to the log and on to the next one. Thanks Grand Voyages TFTC.

Day 2 of a 6 night visit to the Island. Today the weather was perfect. We had of course hoped to find ever hide while we eere over here but alas after much searching we came up empty handed. As a supposedly easy hide it seems that it may have gone. Many possible hidey holes searched but still nothing. We can only hope that the owner checks and replaces the cache before we head back to the mainland.

Found by The Boofs while on holiday TFTC . Put our smudge mark on the wet log book.

04-Jun-21
Mr and Mrs Parrot took a trip overseas to Kangaroo island for the week.
We had a lovely time finding caches and interacting with the people selling produce and food to the public.
It fabulous to see the green starting to come back into the fire ravaged areas. We had hired a house in Kingscote and ventured out each day in a different direction to see the sights and what the island had t off.
We also picked up 60 odd caches along the way.
My thanks for the quick responses to the Geocaches and the virtual cache which we sorted out before logging.
It was good to be able to complete Wonders of the world and become an Ultimate Explorer during my stay.

This cache appeared missing.
After some correspondence back and forth with the owner I was able to confirm they do want to continue maintaining the cache and they were happy for me to replace it for them.
So I went out and put this one back.

04-Jun-21
I also couldn’t find this cache.
Owner contacted and replacement discussed.

Having some R&R on Kangaroo Island, staying with Dunmowin during the Christmas New Year week. Yesterday we had to leave the property we were staying on and relocate to the Kingscote Oval Recovery centre as the fires were getting close, so we played it safe. We spent the day just sightseeing around Kingscote and cleaning up a couple of caches around town. This was a quick find. TFTC

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

We are here visiting, house and farm sitting for three months. There are only 88 caches on the island. Hope we get smilie faces on all of them.

Our current house sit is in Kingscote. We are caring for a very switched on kelpieX, Hamish.

1st Day of Summer, and it is way to cold. Hamish was suffering from cabin fever, so we decided to a) go for a drive to b) find a cache or two and c) wander some bitumen roads that we had not yet done (just finished cleaning the car) and finally d) visit KIS

Quick drive by with an interesting story. Hamish stayed in the car. Thanks Grand Voyagers for the excuse to get out of the house

Today was our last day on KI so the plan was to potter around the northern part and see a few places we hadn't been to yet... and find some caches of course. First stop was this one as we left town... a quick and easy find that took me longer to work out what the date was today!

Thanks **Grand Voyagers** for putting this one here.
