Found it on a day walk to Waihaha hut. Hadnt been found for a while so had to change that. Great spot. Thanks.
Rivers are very high, can't get beyond the hut! Found cache, all safe and dry. Heading back out to the road.
Found with Spudge. We visited the hut but didn't stay, instead we found a nice grassy clearing partway along the track to camp. A very nice area and the walk wasn't too hard. TFTC
Found on our overnight camping adventure along the Waihaha valley. We enjoyed the description for the track and kept referring to it while walking down the track. We didn't find the mossy water supply but enjoyed all the side suggestions. TFTC.
First day of the summer holiday for M14, so I thought let's start with an overnight tramp to the Waihaha hut. It was his first overnight tramp and he did really well! 4 hours with his own pack on our way to the hut and 3,5 hours return the day after. It was warm so M80 ended the track with a nice swim in the cold river.
After dinner we went of the big one in search of the cache. It was already getting dark but the cache was spotted quickly in the beam of light from our flashlight. Thanks for hiding.

Had lots of helpers to look for this one and even confirmation of the location by a previous finder but no luck in locating it. Hope it’s still there!
Out for a day walk in and out - Beautiful walk with a great track but yes it is long We started off on a cold foggy morning but by the time we got to the hut the sun had come out. It was still very cold at the hut and at midday the area was covered in a good frost. A pot of water was frozen solid. We had thought about staying for the night but the thought of our warm bed was too much. We did pass a few people going to the hut on our way out and some young boys intended to tent Hopefully they will be able to find some wood for the fire as there wasn’t any at the hut. Cache all good and yes it’s keeper is very majestic. TFTC
Out for a day tramp with my son ApacheD and Kirsty . The weather wasnt the greatest with quite a bit of rain we had our wet weather gear so we were dry . Walked in to Waihaha hut and had our lunch then returned to car. It was a great days hike a little cold when we stopped for lunch . This cache was found very quickly buried under natural camo but in an obvious place. Cache in really good condition thanks to the bag.

I agree with sveppi that it isn't such a long walk, and yes a great hut for a family to go to. I've done it winter when the icicles where stunning.
The cache has a good hide.

Arrived at the hut from Western Bays yesterday with sveppi. (first overnight of the new tramping season, an easy one for practice) It was about 5PM and threatning to rain/drizzling. The GPS was taking us around in circles and although we had a try of the cache we couldn't find it so we decided to try again in the morning. At first I thought it was a mistake, as we woke up to torrential rain. But we were lucky that it eased off to a drizzle after breakfast. GPS was still a bit dodgy but we thought the obvious hint item had to be that one. I finally located the littke bugger, no rocks here though...
Not such a long walk! Tramped here with fanfan-77 and our overnight packs for the evening. If anyone is wanting to do an easy overnight this is the hut I would recommend. It’s a lovely walk in that is not too hard (or steep) and the hut is a nice one. We arrived at the hut about 5pm and had a search to no avail. Keen to take my boot off and have a cuppa we decided to look again in the morning. Took a bit of searching even with the hit (which only half makes sense), put pleased to get the smiley on this one. Dropped off a TB. TFTC
Can't remember who had this bright idea but I jumped at the chance to head out on another overnighter adventure with the usual gang of suspects and plans were made to make the most of the long weekend and get an early start to the weekend with this one.
After a long and fun walk in the freezing night conditions we finally made it to the hut and luckily the fire had already been put on for us. Tradition called for a quick cheese and beverage before calling it a night and looking to grab this one in the morning. Took a bit of searching in the obvious place but got there in the end as we slowly started to warm up. Awesome hut - TFTC

Out with Alpenmilch80, Evilno9 and 11hpg11 for a weekend in the Pureora's.
Started walking a bit late, around 10pm I think it was.
It was a dark cold night with no moon and a beautiful starry sky.
The frozen grass cracked under our feet and glistered in the beam of our torch light.
The walk was just enough to keeps us warm and not to sweaty.
When we'd arrived at the hut around 12:45 am, a few muggles woke up to make some room for us to crash for the night.
After waking up and getting ready to go we had a hunt for the cache. After some searching it was found.
The new cords are way better.

Plans were in the making with KiwiLeon, Evilno9 and 11hpg11 to spend a Friday night in the Waihaha Hut and tonight was the night.
After leaving behind the dense Auckland weekend traffic, we arrived around 10pm at the parking coordinates. In the cold (-3C), dark night we prepared ourselves with several layers of clothing and left behind the warm cars. We enjoyed the awesome tramping along this frozen and sparkling land at night. Stopped for some stargazing and arrived well after midnight at the hut.
As the hut was already occupied, we decided to have a quick cheese and Jägermeister session outside on the table before retiring to the beds. After breakfast and getting ready, we ventured out to circle the tree before making the find. Signed as Team Waihaha. TFTC

A long weekend mission planned with some hardy Auckland cachers. We are heading to Waihaha Hut to stay a night and enjoy the Pureoras. Our team consisted of Alpenmilch80, Evilno9, Kiwileon, and myself. We signed our logs as Team Waihaha to save room in smaller logs.
After a long, dark, and cold walk we arrived at the hut. Just a touch before 1am. We had noted the car in the carpark and guessed we would be sharing the hut. We didn't realise quite how full it was going to be till morning! Hunters, DoC workers and some mad cachers made up the residents of the hut tonight (early morning!) We had a warm up drink outside the hut before retiring to bed, leaving the cache till morning.
After a pleasant night sleep, very warm thanks to the hunters who had the fire going earlier it was time to get up and start off a big days caching. A quick breakie, a cup of coffee and we were all set to hit the trail again. Opps almost forgot to find the cache and take a group photo! Photo done, we set off to find the cache. Thought we had it in the bag, saw the big hint item and thought it would be all done. Looking, looking, looking.... it took a bit of a hunt, we widened search area but kept coming back to that one spot. Turns out we just needed to look that little bit harder! Signed and returned and it was time to set off back to the car for some more caches.
Thanks for the placement to get us out here and give us a fun night in the bush. Impressed with your grandchilden getting out here, kept me going, knowing if a 5year old could do it, I could do it!

1446 FTF Decided that for my Saturday exercise I would go down and see if I could find this one as it still had no logs. Left the Tron at 6.30 and had parked the car and started walking by 8.30. Another car pulled up at the same time but he was going pig hunting (more about that in the log for "Waihaha Walk"). Arrived at hut in just over 2 hrs. It was then quickly off to GZ. The co-ords had me 500m from the hut and 170m from the track. Some very good hiding spots at this GZ but no cache. After wandering around for more than 30min I sat down and read the description more fully. I was nowhere near I should have been. Oh well back to the track then back to the hut. No sign of anyone other than the Te Araroa Trail walker staying in the hut. Now with the description and hint worked out a few possibilities. One of which proved successful. Still no logs other than those who placed the cache?
I ran a check with my GPS and the co-rds I got were S38 41.687 E175 36.047.
I enjoyed the walk (a little longer), the little off track excursion and the FTF. Thanks
After a drink and something to eat it was off back to the car and collect the other caches on the way.
