No joy finding this cache. We checked back logs and checked every ledge of where our trolls like to live, widened the search. God muddy knees and wet shoes. Are we keen or what!!? Maybe the cyclone has washed it out. TFTC
Looked around for a bit without success. Maybe whoever installed this muggled the cache?
Mr and Mrs NZTravellers and I planned a bike ride which was a very nice change from the walk and gather. Wet and windy day. I would comparing it like being a roast chicken. Baking for a bit and taken out to be basted once in a while. It was a fun day out, nonetheless!

Cycling the trail between Matakana and Point Wells collecting caches. Had a great day despite the odd shower or two. Lunched at Point Wells and then back to Matakana via the big hill! Rescued a lost dog, ran into some muggles who knew what we were up to as they knew Darby & Joan (small world) and had a great time with B4Dawn. the round trip was about 18km biking and walking and thoroughly enjoyable! Took a few mins to find this one. TFTC!
We headed out to explore this trail early in the day to kick off our Labour Weekend and were pleased to have the whole area to ourselves.
After a lot of recent rain it was a bit soggy underfoot but luck was on our side and we found the cache in the first spot we checked.
Perfect place for a cache.
Now to climb the hill.

A variation in CO hiders here but an easy find as per hint, and accurate coordinates. All good and replaced as found.
Well, this weekend is not what I thought it would be, but it also kind of is too! mrs c was supposed to be heading down to Taihape for the week, leaving on Saturday morning and coming back Thursday. This meant that my 'plan' for a raid out Leigh/Matakana way and then next day clearing out another couple for areas out that way would a few cache finds and boost my find numbers by certain prolific hiders. Alas, it was not to be, though mrs c encouraged me to pursue my original Saturday plans and I didn't need telling twice. I was keen on an on-foot assault on the Matakana 'cycleway' and a couple of other target caches on the back roads out towards Pakiri/Wellsford roads. I ended up with over 50 finds, quite unheard of these days and a mighty 15kms walked, nice. The unexpected rain came and went and I saw lots of stuff, which is good. Thanks all COs for their hides encountered.

I'm out for another big caching day in Tawharanui with team G0LD - Geocachers 0B80B8, myself (Lis's crew) and DaffyNZ. We were out this way in May and today we successfully completed the other end of Tawharanui. We have just 2 dnfs from our last trip to go but they were too far out to attempt again today.
After finishing out there early in the afternoon we headed back through Snells beach, Algies Bay and into Warkworth enjoying the views and topping up our numbers as we went.
With it being a quiet Saturday afternoon we zipped down the track quickly. Being a cycle trail there was no good parking but we squezzed in and figured we'd be back relatively smartly. My buddies had prevoiusly found this so it was indeed a quick find. Thanks for the cache

Great spot! Log book needs to be replaced but otherwise a fun experience - gemma and maisey
Not sure how the Troll House relates to the cache ... ... Walk down from main road, and when the zic zac cement path ends, you're super super close ... Unfortunately this cache needs maintenance, as logbook is soaked with water (lid was not closed properly).
Bring your own pen !!!!!!

Wandered down from the top could see the evidence of where people have wiped out on their bike. Ouch!. A quick find, now to head back up.
Our mission today was to go on a walk that would enable us to start to get our numbers back up after being in lockdown. This one didn't take us long to find as it was in the obvious spot.
Celebrating our first year of geocaching with this trail. Thanks to all COs for maintaining these caches. Vi elsker troll! Nice find, tftc.
A friend and I decided to take our bikes up to Matakana to ride this trail today and pick up the caches along the way. We parked at the Matakana end, rode to Point Wells, then headed back the way we came - picking up the caches on the return journey. A nice easy find in the obvious spot. TFTC!
Had to use my body to shelter the log for signing, got everything back as dry as possible. Tftc
Caching the trail today with a80 and themexikiwi and with a car at both ends hoped to make the most of doing this on foot. Good day to be out even with the wind and we had a great afternoon out here today.
No issues with this one and a nice sneaky find again. TFTC

Out today with evilno9 and theMexiKiwi to enjoy the local market, the event and collecting some step & geocaches on the Matakana Cycleway. TFTC
We spent a little while figuring out what we could do with the final week of the summer holidays, many things came to mind but nothing panned out. We decided that we needed to get the bikes out for the first time this summer and also visit a beach so decided to spend a night in the area and complete the cycle trail from Matakana to Port Wells. With grabbing all the caches, visiting several local produce vendors and lunch in Port Wells we were out for about 5.5 hours (return) on the trail, and Tinytree did a great job cycling all that way. Thanks for all the caches along the route.
Dropped a TB and picked up another. Cache in good condition.

On A road trip with Dee+ME from Tauranga. Have been having a poke around here and there and been taken to some great places, many thanks to all you COs for your placements. Today we start to make our way south again. Was up early to make the most of the day. Cheers
Staying with friends in Warkworth so McJandals and I thought we'd bring the bikes out to Matakana while they're at work.
Cheers

Trackable Globe left.
Quick find. Starting to feel the hill climb. Good time to stop before the steep section. TFTC

4.15pm. An easy find for the last today. Now a walk back to the car and home. It's been a good day.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Nice and quick find while in the area on the bikes. Thanks for bringing us here. All good at GZ. TFTC
Off on a mission today, to get enough numbers in September for my one hundred in every month challenge. With not many unfound local caches available, a trip south was called for and I hoped to combine it with an exercise training jaunt for the upcoming Taupo Ultra.
I stopped off in Warkworth to look for a few to start the day, and after getting most of those, headed out here to the Matakana Cycle trail for the start of my real exercise. It was extremely busy in Matakana today with the market day on, but I managed to find a parking spot near the start of the trail.
This was the next one on the cycle way proper, at the start of a little bit of extra effort in the workout. With the name on the cache, and the hint, I had a good idea what I was probably looking for and sure enough, in the second place I looked, I was able to make a quick find of the cache. Signed the log and then replaced safe and secure as found.. TFTC

The weather was pleasant this afternoon so we took a drive to Matakana to pick up the caches on the new-ish cycleway.
We are walking the cycleway today, and this is our turn around point back to the car. Thankfully we were not Going Up today. The cache was a quick find in the obvious spot, thanks.

This one had fallen off its perch, but spotted all the same. Quite a chilly wind now, on to the next! TFTC!
This was an easy walk down from the top, followed by an easy find, then the terrible climb back up to the car. TFTC.
Was taking my time here, ended up pushing the bike for a bit here. Nice easy find, cheers
Headed out to Matakana with Jag50 and Merlot58 to meet up with Supernannny and Gorby to walk the trails. Log signed as Broken (due to supernannny's broken arm). The track has certainly taken a beating with all the rain recently, with parts washing away. Thankfully the cache was still in place.
Yes ,,,as Aiden29 reported ....a bit of a washout has occurred nearby !
Didn't deter us on our quest though !
Thanks sp8sm8

I joined forces with Aiden29 and Jag50 and meeting Gorby and Supernanny at the Matakana markets with the plan to walk the cycle trail. We signed the team name 'Broken' for poor Supernanny's broken wing. We were puffing a bit after that hill. The track has seen better days, all the rain we have had recently has caused a couple of sink holes each side
I picked up supernanny for a day out caching, we had arranged a few weeks ago to head here to Matakana and only last night I managed to coerce merlot58, aiden29 and Jag50 to come along for the adventure. Well, it’s always much more fun in a group anyway! So they all agreed to come along.
I must be really unfit or my asthma is playing up, I was huffing and puffing going up that hill!

Came out to Matakana with Aiden29 and Merlot58 to meet up with Supernannny and Gorby to walk the cycle trail. Found the cache and signed in as team Broken in recognition of Supernannys recent broken arm. A slight incline which had some of the troops out of breath.
Needed to get a whole bundle of caches for a 50 per month challenge so decided to investigate the new cycle trail. The billboard showed 4 degrees as we went through Matakana so probably why there weren't many muggles on the trail. TFTC
Hatched a plan to walk the cycleway from Point Wells to Matakana and as we had no bikes it meant we had no choice to walk. TW and I started early ready for a big day. We were very lucky with the weather Gods as it rained cats and dogs, except when we were walking. How good was that? Thanks.
After moving on past this one we dropped the bikes at the half way point on the hill and walked back down to this one. TFTC.
That wasnt to bad! I was imagining having to ascend the big hill, got the easy cache easily, (in good condition ) backed up a bit and flew up the hill without even getting off my seat! Thanks!
Unfortunately I came the steep way and am not looking forward to the climb back up.
Yes, this hill was quite a climb, great downhill on the way back though! Exploring the Matakana cycle trail. TFTC!
No bike today so shanks pony it was. Parked up safely and wandered down and around the path. Spotted the item in in the hint from the top and headed down. No problems in locating the cache. Thanks
After brunch in Matakana, we headed this way for a couple. Parked at the start of the trailhead and made our way down to GZ. A nice quick find here before going back up the way we came. Next time we come out this way we will need to bring the bikes - TFTC!
Before heading back down to Shakespear Park I was staying at the Warkworth Golf Course and so ventured out to keep my cache-a-day run going.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Wow that was an early start, 2am left home, first cache at 4.50am.
Little did we know it but we could have had a sleep in as in the company of HKCB we were meant to be going Kite surfing today, but the place at Omaha double booked us then we had other plans for the rest of the weekend which meant a refund, a bugger but never mnd we did manage some great caches as I work my way torads my goal of collecting caches for the Challenge elective of the DGSc Challenge (stupid evil challenge, I now understand why no-one has ever done this elective previously).
But anyhow, after a long drive and not enough caffine we were ready for a couple of caches.
This was a quick stop on the way to our first objective of the weekend. Great travelling these back roads when they are clear of traffic and any traffic you do see from a long way off.
Our collective thanks must go out to all the cache owners who made this trip possible as we also managed to get quite a number of water based kayak caches along the way, but left enough for next time. We covered from the Managwai Heads to Mahurangi/Waiwera area in the south on the saturday, followed by a trip across Auckland on the sunday
Thanks for the placement

Up this way with Cats&Dragons for the weekend with the main goal of tackling some of the T5 Kayak caches around the Auckland area and a little further North. We also had the side mission to give kiteboarding a go, but unfortunately that fell through last minute, but that only meant we got more caching in. The general plan was to cache around along the East coast from Mangawhai to Mahurangi on Saturday, and a big focus on the Auckland Kayak caches in the Auckland area.
A very early morning start, even by our normal standards (2am), meant we were had a bit of time to grab a few caches before we were meant to meet up for the boarding. But even with a few set backs including a few DNF's we still had a very enjoyable day. Thanks to all the CO's for the placements.
Quick run down the hill to the cache, though that did mean I had to run back up, funny how that works. No issues with the find, thanks for the placement.

When I found this cache published last night I decided I wasn't comfortable walking the path by myself in the dark and GAR is away in Christchurch so left it till this morning, delaying morning chores and going to start work late (logging first). Would have parked at out usual spot at Tongue Farm Road and gone for a long walk except for two things - it started raining this morning and I am recovering from a second degree burn which meant I didn't walk last week's Fruit Loop because I wasn't sure how I could walk so far in one go. So only a 2-3 km walk here today, parking in Whitmore Road, walking here and then on to the other cache published last night on the other side of Takatu Road. Had planned to do a whole series of caches along the walkway/cycle way but had yet to talk to the community group who owns it and obviously have left things a bit late. This cache was at one of the many spots I had eyed up. A nice blank log book awaited me here so guessing waiting till this morning was ok - maybe there is hope for the other 2 published also? Thanks for the unexpected exercise (which I really need!) sp8sm8!
