Well after 3 failed attempts came here today determined to find and was an easy find but blends in so well not easy to see. Great to be able to make it a smily face at last. Thanks for the cache
A tricky find, took a good search but really shouldn't have been so hard. Lots of commentary though from the few passer bys. Stealth only goes so far in a town where everyone recognises geocaching.Last night we arrived in Tambo after dark. A bit late for the chicken races but a nice warm evening to cache the main street. With sacada, we had planned to do the earthcaches. Decided we should camp nearby overnight and try to get away earlier to meet our plans.Started the day with a few earthcaches, then caches our way north to Nebo. Emerald, rubyvale and sapphire were good visits along the way, a bit of a detour, but worth it. Walking to a cache a local rode past, gave us some tips on gem hunting while walking the tracks. We didn't see any but was good to know what to recognise. A long day of driving and arrived in Nebo very late. We thought we had a good deal at $12 powered site, till the event the next day had them saying the other nebo camp was $10! Both great, thanks for your cache that guided our day.
Finished another long trip around Australia. The 6th. Back to the east coast for an event in Orange (non caching) and then a great family dinner catchup. Now heading north to Townsville with Aquilus1 to get the Palm Island LGA. A long day of travelling from Tambo to Nebo via Emerald, Saphire and Rubyvale. We managed to get 8 Earth Caches and a couple of virtuals today over about 700km. Also managed many other caches and Ad Labs as well. There had been a couple of days of talk on the radio from the gemstone area so it was great to spend some time there. Was taught how to find gems from an expert that happened to pass by on a motorbike and direct us to Policeman's Knob.A nice little hide that should have been found quicker.
Had a lovely chat with the tourist information woman. She knew exactly where it was.Darn I made that way too hard yesterday where I searched for 20 minutes.Signed The RoosTftc
Here in Alpha to grab a LGA & this one was a bit hard to find as the coords were in the middle of the street and so we immediately decided to take a closer look at what we assumed to be the better GZ. As we gave the area a good search I noticed a CCTV camera looking down on the ATM in the gz vacinity and immediately thought SWAT might come storming in any moment as our searching postures werent overtly stealthily. It was GG1 who finally uncovered the hide & undertook the necessary paperwork.
Coords were woeful for me today. GPS had me in the middle of the road so we just started at one end each. Found it reasonably quickly despite no arrow helping us. Cache is in pretty good condition.
After camping by the river last night, we are exploring Alpha this morning. Armed with a great coffee from the post office of all places... made a quick find here with the help of the lovely info centre lady. Tftc
No luck for us today - glad to see by future logs that it's still there. next time !
It took two attempts and the reading of a few past logs before we found this. Luckily there was nobody around both times we searched today so we could look without concern for muggles. Thanks for find #5027TNLN
On a slow, meandering trip out to Longreach for the QOGM 2023 event.
Cache found in the expected area, within a reasonable time, without difficulties.

We looked really hard to locate this one with no luck, we are thinking it might unfortunately be missing, we also had a good search in the wider area, checked hints and previous logs for clues with no joy.

No luck for us today. Searched for 10 minutes and then searched a little more. Thanks for bringing us here regardless.
We passed through Alpha today with on an Outback Spirit tour and had a brief rest stop. An initial search proved fruitless and after being pointed in the general direction by a shop attendant we made a quick find. Nicely hidden. Thanks to by Nedandmrskelly/sandshoo3 for the cache.
Coming from Longreach headed to Mackay, another quick stop in a small (ghost? ) town for a quick cache before hitting the road again. ️ With the GZ putting us on the road, we were a bit puzzled, but the log before us gave us a good hint. Thanks for the ! Found with Globetrotters7701.
Afterwards had a little wander around the back to the right of GZ, found a small train museum! Always love being brought to small hidden gems like this. I do find it funny the train station name is Beta! (Photos attached are NOT spoilers).

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 134. The Gemfields to Alpha. It was quite chilly night in Sapphire at The Gemfields, so I was happy to be up and away. There were a few caches along the highway, but I was still in Alpha by Mid morning and set up along the Cemetery road near the truck parking area. A spent the rest of the middle of the day trying to find the remaining Alpha caches. I failed on two that seem to be missing and had to leave one till after closing time. I finished the day with a late dinner at the pub as they did not open till 18.30, and no locals came in at all while I was there.
I decided to defer this one till the afternoon as the Information centre staff were holding court on the seats out the front. I had tried this one when passing through on the train, and somehow managed to miss it then, so this time I also obtained a hint, which really narrowed down the area to look in.
Thanks for the cache Nedandmrskelly

We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.
Day 8 Todays journey took us from Barcaldine to Emerald collecting caches along the way.
Weather today was nice with not a cloud in the sky so no fear of anymore road issues.
All caches were found along our journey that we attempted unless otherwise mentioned.
Thanks to all cache hiders for keeping this hobby alive and breaking up a long drive.

Found by Mary and David at 11:30 on a drive from Barcaldine to Emerald. Took forever with a steady stream of passing muggles. Our thanks to Nedandmrskelly
Picked up this one while on the way through Alpha. Log signed and all was replaced as found. TFTC.
Found this one with ilook4geo even though 3 muggles were close by. Had a look in the museum while we were there too. Thanks to Nedandmrskelly for placing this cache and to sandshoo3 for maintaining it. All is good with the container and log.
This took awhile just as well it was the weekend. Might get some cash from the ATM nearby.
Finally catching up with my logging!*
An epic 3 week roadtrip up to Longreach/Winton and back to Brissy. ️️
We finally made it to Winton and now were on the homerun back to Brisbane! We absolutely loved our quick stop in Alpha. Such a beautiful little town.
This was a quick find for us. Replaced as found and away we went to explore more of the town.

A tricky hide, made a bit challenging both by the position of the cache and by the coords being about 5 metres out. Don5 think we would have been able to find it on a weekday.
After five nights staying at the Showgrounds in Jericho overnight, and caching madly most days, we have hooked up the van again and are continuing our travels. A few days in Emerald where the car will be getting a service, and then who knows. That’s as far as our plans go.
Of course, we can’t just drive down a highway-not if there’s caches to be found. Great work by all the local CO’s for nicely breaking our journey with lots of lovely yellow smilies. Your efforts are appreciated, thank you all very much.

Staying in Alpha for a couple of days and spent a morning getting most of the caches in town, yet another blue face for us
Having a blue smilie to avenge I decided to stop for this one on my way through town back to Emerald. A quick stop and I soon had cache in hand. Maybe my seeking skills have developed since the first look. TFTC Nedandmrskelly

For a short while today,
I was an 'Alpha Male'
A very unshaven Alpha Male,
but still an Alpha Male
At this familiar spot in towne,
the Alpha Female's who normally,
er ?? *person* this place,
were absent
No chance of having to buy home made cakes,
delicious jams,
or be informed this morning
Just an opportunity to poke around,
and finally find this cache
Hallelujah !! [^]

Day ten of my outback Queensland trip and the plan today is to arrive in Emerald by night time, via the towns of Jericho, Alpha, Sapphire, Rubyvale and Anakie. Continuing with my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day and collecting a few more for the day. I do have a list of caches that I do want to collect along the way and probably some extras as I see fit.
Caching on my own again and am enjoying the time and adventures that comes with that. Though most of the caches were easy finds, some did give me a smile and I saw some familiar name in the logs, was I following?
This cache was an easy find and in good condition. With the log signed and cache returned as found, it was onto the next one. Thank you for placing it here, I really enjoyed the drive around this area today.

Wednesday. Calling in here after a trip to Bogantungan, and we grabbed some more caches. Found this one quicker than I thought we would. Nicely tucked away! We then headed across the road and admired the carvings mixed with petrified wood.
This was the 2nd of 3 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***Nedandmrskelly*** for showing us this place

Day 14 of my trip north from Adelaide in search of some warmer weather and a few caches.
After camping last night at Jericho, today I traveled to Emerald, with a side trip up to Sapphire and Rubyvale.
I spent a bit of time in and around Alpha hunting out some of the caches in this Alpha series with mixed results.
When I first arrived here there was a lady standing right at GZ merrily chatting away with the lady in the visitor centre. I didn’t think she would ever finish, so I moved on and came back later.
The coast was clear on my return and it was an easy retrieval and sign. However I was muggled by the lady from the visitor centre and we also chatted for a while .
Thanks Nedandmrskelly for the cache.

This place has memories for us going back to our honeymoon back in 1970. Little has changed except the highway no longer goes through the main street. Had a long chat with thelady looking after the info centre. We repaired the cache (lost magnet) and replaced, all OK.
After staying at Emerald for a couple of days we were on the way towards Blackall via Alpha. Due to the number found the logs will be generic. Thank you to all CO's who placed the caches. Cache found and signed log. TFTC
Day 7 on our road trip to QOGM 2019 at Blackall and today we make our way from Emerald to Alpha with a detour to The Gemfields. We had a great day making our way around the area and enjoying the cafe at one of the caches. Thanks so much to the COs for placing the caches here for our enjoyment.

Hi there Nedandmrskelly. While on holiday in Queensland we found this cache after a short search - and the container and log are in good condition. TN, L: 3 new log sheets, SL. Thanks to Nedandmrskelly for this cache - our find #7176.
We arrived in Alpha for an overnight stop on our annual trip around Qld. We had no idea if there were any geocaches here, and were pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful series placed by Nedandmrskelly. This was an easy find, without any muggle activity in the vicinity. Thanks so much for your efforts in placing these caches for our enjoyment. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.
Grey Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Now travelling west towards Barcaldine for TheLongestLine (of RVs) World Guinness Record attempt. BRC is very proactive in gaining greynomads to visit. This is one of their attempts. Geocaching is another. This is one of many in the BRC for us to attempt.
We found this one thanks to Nola at the information centre and Tanya from BRC, who were chatting nearby. Nola informed us that she found the cache in the bin after the new ATM was installed. She now guards it but is happy to share the information if required.
Thanks Nedandmrskelly for the tour of town.

Hi there Nedandmrskelly.
We found your cache **"Alpha 8"** at 11:39:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 20310).
We started the day off by nominating a cache near Alpha, and then took a route that was mostly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.
We found 21 caches today & DNF'd 0. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

The QOGM party is over so it is time to pack up and start wending our way home.
After smoko at the RidgeeDidge cafe, we stopped for the last couple of caches in Barcy and then headed East to the Gemfields and Emerald for our overnight stop.
I'd actually stopped right here last year for a cuppa and chat with the friendly folks manning the Driver Reviver but hadn't picked up the cache. Fixed that up today!
Thanks to the COs for your hard work in creating the caches and hides we visited today.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Nedandmrskellyfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Muster having fun catching up and of course finding some caches.
We joined forces with Geoturtle37 Papi4506 and micaparamedic to head to
Jericho for the event there. We left early so we could find a few caches
in Alpha before hand.
Unfortunately I can not remember the order we attacked this series so it
is hard to write a log about each one. I can say each cache was found,
some harder than others and they were all in good condition and each log
book contains our names.
Many thanks nedandmrskelly for showing us around Alpha and a great

I set off with Micaparamedic, Team Crackers and papi4506 today to the event and picked up as many of these as we could whilst we were out. They were great hides with lots of variety both in caches and the difficulty to find them. Thanks so much for placing them for us to find.
