Our target for today was to find some of the caches in the bush near Creswick, we much prefer caching away from prying eyes so the series suited us perfectly. We also couldn't resist the other caches in the area and this was one of them. TFTC
Another nice cache in good condition and a nice big host too. I am busy doing the 50 Must Sea Places series and picking up a few extras along the way. The series is reminding me how many wonderful places there are in the world, and how few i have actually visited. My phone coverage got pretty patchy here so i waited till i got home to log this one. Im sorry for the generic log but my mind is now completely consumed by the travel bug. I ran an event this morning in Castlemaine, the weather looked pretty ordinary and i wasnt sure if i would spend the rest of the day caching or head home afterwards. However, by the time i was leaving, the clouds had lightened and the conversations had fired me up so i decided to head to Creswick. The last time i was in this area i had started the 50 Must See Places series and hopefully i will be able to complete the rest of them today. Tallest Tree In The Forest is find number 3,817 for me. A fun micro sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Hepburn Shire. I am logging this one on Saturday 31 Aug 2024 at 8:31 pm and the weather is Broken Clouds 14C 48% 8 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy Fergzter.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Today we focussed on the "50 Must See Places" series. Along the way, we came across some unrelated caches, such as this one, and we could not pass them by. We thought that we would be very lucky to find a micro at this location, but one of us was fortunate to look at the right angle from the right height and the cache was seen . The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Fergzter for the cache.
Done while heading to Creswick for the Solstice Dinner. Most of them were found, some easily, some not so. Thanks for the cache Fergzter. I was particularly appreciative of the hint for this one!
Out today with littlecogs in the PeuGEOt on a world tour, well one can dream. This was on the tour so we stopped and found it.Had a lot of fun and little littlecogs proved she was no match with many finds.TFTC
Staying in Ballarat for next 3 nights. Lot's of caches to get and to go to an event. Saw this trail and wasn't sure if a car could do it. All good for the car
Out for an evening drive in the Geo Tucson with the Geo dog Shem and Dromaniax to collect the last of the 50 Must See Places series that we didnt collect in February when it came out. This cache was along the way so find it we did and yes it was a big tree. Thanks for the cache FergzterLogged as JTT2 and DX
TFTC. Setting up camp for a week in Murray Bridge before the MEGA for 29th Feb!Moving to Ballarat for another week afterwards. Last hurrah travelling before wooding season at home starts!Happy caching and safe travels!
No phone range at GZ but went to the biggest tree and made a reasonably quick find! TFTC!!
Found with LittleBoss2 and Geo the puppy on a short trip to Creswick. Quick find here, thanks Fergster, that was tough
Lots of tall trees in this area!Grabbed this cache while finding the 50 places series. Thanks, Robmc.
It was the day to farewell the Ballarat GeoTour. After completing the CITO, I teamed up with Robmc, Phetlern and Team Crackers to complete some more of the 50 places series. To avoid clogging up the tracks, we piled into two vehicles and attempted to get through as many as we could before I had to leave for the Farewell event. We logged the caches as the Post CITO gang. This cache wasnt part of the nearby series and took a number of eyes to spot. Fortunately many eyes make light work, or something like that! Thanks Fergzter for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Are you ready to nominate in the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards? Start preparing by checking out the 2023 geocaching lists available [here](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/) and find some of the new caches ahead of nominations opening.
We were in Ballarat this weekend to join in the fun of all the events being held. After the Cito which was not far from this series we joined forces with Phetlern, our chauffeurs for the morning, Robmc and Roaming Howie to try our luck.We pulled up here and had a quick glance around where the GPSr was pointing and we guessed where the cache would be. We couldn't tell if it was the tallest but it certainly looked like the widest so we headed off there and began our search where Phetlern came up with the good not long after arriving and all we had to do was add our name to the log. Thanks Fergzter for the cache
**18/02/2024, 14:39:00****Find #5700****Traditional Find #3419**Steve and I headed out early on a perfect morning and headed to Ballarat to attend the end of the Ballarat GeoTour event in addition to finding caches of interest. This series has been on our radar since it was first published but today was the first time for me to make a start. Thankfully, the tracks were very quiet and only two other cars were encountered and at least one of those was driven by a cacher. No problems with finding any of the caches and not much bending required either for which I was grateful.Apologies for the generic log.**Thank-you to Fergzter for placing this geocache**
Out doing some of the nearby series, such a big tree should deserve a bigger cache. Thanks for the cache.
It wasn't until we were coming around the corner that we realised why this cache has the name it does. The cache was found with no problems, our names added to the log book, everything replaced and we were on our way again. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.
In the Ballarat area for the weekend, so a perfect opportunity to hit up the MSP series and other random caches along the way. Something different to break up the series. Thank goodness the cache was not at the top! Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Fergzter ??~????????~
Spending the day with Tenkae, attacking some caches in the area. Cache in good order, great tree! Thanks Fergzter for your fantastic efforts and for contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails, Deanside
Find No. 4550. Found at 3.47pm.A day spent at Creswick to do the '50 Must See Places' caches, on our push bikes. We got the first one on the way in, then parked the van between the 1st and 2nd and off we rode doing these in order. Got to No. 33 then it was back to the van for a rather late lunch. After lunch we loaded the bikes, drove and done No. 34, then drove onto No. 35, where we got the bikes out and off we rode again to finish off the series. We enjoyed riding the tracks, approx 20 ks, through the pine forest and finding the caches as we went.We also found the extras on the trail and this was one of them. This one took us a little longer to find and it was Mr Tyred n Cranky who spotted the well camouflaged hide TFTC Fergzter
Find # 13311Solo trip to Creswick to tackle the 50 must see places series and others along the way. Spent 3 and a half hours driving the forest and finding a total of 62 caches.Day started off ok, thankfully the sprinkling of rain from mid day, that lasted to 2:30 kept the heat away. While a bit annoying, it did make for a more interesting and enjoyable time caching the forest.Yep quite an impressive sight among all the smaller trees. A quick find after using the hint.TFTC Fergzter
Out for a fun day caching with Donutholes through the back roads of Creswick pine plantation while enjoying the 50 Must See Places caches. There was plenty of banter and laughs as Donutholes chauffeured me about in style while dodging a pot hole or three. The log was full, so water proof paper was added with abbreviated AF,DH Thanks for the traditional cache Fergzter #7,660
Whilst tackling the nearby series. AusFox and I made a quick stop to grab a smiley here. It does look like the tallest tree here too !!The log book was fully destroyed so we replaced it with a fresh one. Thanks for the cache:)
Jeez that was amazingly hard to find and unfortunately the log book was unusable/brocken
We meandered around in the bush again today collecting some outstanding green caches, tuning them into a smiley. TFTC
Found during my roadtrip from Canberra to do the Ballarat GeoTour. After finishing the GeoTour yesterday, the redux of the 50 Must See Places was on my non-negotiable to-do list. This one was a quick find along the way (after dodging some spiderwebs), what a huge tree! As has been mentioned, the logbook is very wet and needs replacing. TFTC Fergzter!
Found with PapaGrouch and MazzyMay on a day out in the Creswick forest and surrounds. Had a fun day finding a lot of caches. Most fairly easy, some took a bit longer. This was another older cache that we found while finding the nearby trail. The device had me in the wrong spot to start with but a quick look around identified where I needed to be. The log is disintegrating, just managed to sign but it needs replacing badly. TFTC
After enjoying a Gravy Day lunch event, Chook joined forces with Wozzle68 to do a few more of the new Must See trail, so we could get the Solstice souvenir. Woz had found this cache many years ago but it was still a green icon for us, so it was a no brainer to stop and find this one while we were passing. Spotted easily. Chook says sorry but she wasn't carrying her spare sheets of stone paper with her today, otherwise she would have replaced the paper that is starting to get a bit fragile. TFTC Fergzter.
Found by Mary and David at 14:40. After the Event this morning, we headed over here to finish the 50 Must See Places series and find a couple of other caches along the way. That certainly is a tall one. No trouble for D to retrieve. Log is a little damp and getting a bit ragged. Glad we didn't have to climb or fish. Our thanks to Fergzter.
Found today in a group assault consisting of McLookers, Lumpyjrb, ConnieandRick, Micaparamedic, Pprass and me. All signed as CITOMob.Many thanks to Fergzter for the cache.
Out with a large group to enjoy a nerby new power trail with Muzza, McLookers, Micaparamedic, Lumpyjrb and Pprass. Signed at CITOmob, thanks for the hide.
Found today in a group consisting of McLookers, Lumpyjrb, ConnieandRick, muzza, Pprass and me, micapara medic. Logs signed as CITOMob.Thanks to fergzter for the cache.
Found this while doing the 50 new caches along this road. Was logged as CITO Mob as we were on a mission and signing the log 7 times was going to take way too much time. But it was our car load that found it! Thanks for the cache.
Found at 1:02 PM in the company of ConnieandRick, Lumpyjrb, McLookers, micaparamedic and muzza. We signed the logs sheets as "CITO Mob" due to the CITO that we all attended that morning. There is a huge and difficult cache in Forest Hills, Melb called the same and we were feeling a bit of trepidation as to what was in store for us here, but after checking the D/T ratings - all was calmed down [:o)]Thanks to Fergzter
Out doing the new series in the area, stopped by this one for a quick findThis week I decided to head to Victoria for a few days to target finishing off the Ballarat Geotour and also find the new series in St Arnaud, anything else was a bonus. I ended up finding a little over 300 caches plus a tonne of ad labs along the way. Thanks for the series
Out and about with Rebel Acts and The Empire to scatter smiles on the map, marking our final geocaching escapade for the year. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, it turned out to be a fantastic day of caching. This is one of the caches we were lucky to find, Cheers for the cache
Found by The Empire with Rebel Acts and omegaman1971Teaming up with Rebel Acts and omegaman1971 to tackle some new caches in Creswick, eager to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a weekend retreat, I found solace among the towering pine trees that formed a dense green canopy overhead. The plantation stretched endlessly, offering a tranquil and secluded haven.Spotting a group of kangaroos near the edge of the plantation, we slowed down to observe these iconic creatures. Their powerful hind legs propelled them through the wet grass as if the rain had invigorated their spirits. The unexpected downpour had brought the landscape to life, each raindrop enhancing the colors around us.Amidst the rain, a burst of laughter echoed through the air, catching us off guard. We looked up to see a group of kookaburras perched on the branches above, their distinctive cackling blending harmoniously with the pitter-patter of raindrops. Another quick find here. Thanks for the cache, Fergzter.-M
I noticed the new must see places trail had been published so plans were made with Omegaman1971 and The Empire to meet up and do them, we also tackled the AFL series and a couple of other caches on route. The hanging containers on the trail were a real challenge, those lids were really hard to get off. This is one of the caches found today. We could not off picked a worse day weather wise as we all went home like drowned rats. Thanks Fergzter for the cache.
After a long and winding drive we came across this awesome location. How cool! I've done alot of back road driving but never come across this, just awesome.Nelzarama jumped out and signed the log while I waited in the car with a sleeping LittleGoat and admired the tree. Thanks!
After a nearby DNF, TangentGoat and I carried on to this cache. I was slightly nervous about another car flying around the corner but TangentGoat being a local was less concerned. Once at the GZ, the tree was quickly identified and after some circling I honed in on the cache. The paper could do with a replacement but I was able to get our names on it. Thanks for placing this cache.
Today our plan was to do two do a few GC caches and two AL's we ended up doing a few more than this. A reasonably quite day around town and an early visit to the bakery for supplies for today. The weather was kind to us and we managed to find all the caches that we attempted.SL TFTC
Out and about in the forest and this was the next stop...although it took a couple of detours to get here. Some planned burns meant a few tracks were closed, however there were others still open and eventually I was parked next to GZ. Cache was found without issue and even though the log was a little damp, I signed as best I could.
Thanks for another one Fergzter....

TFTC Fergzter, log all dry, hiding a bit there in the tree, but soon located and signed. Quite a big tree but not the biggest I’ve seen. Nice day for a pedal around the forest today grabbing a few smilies.
*Staying in Creswick for a few days*
Today I decided to head out and clear up some of the local caches and take some photos. A beautiful time of year with all the trees in colour and everything lush and green... A lovely day to be out and about having most of the areas to myself
A bit of a stroll, a bit of a search, made the find, stamped log and replaced again.
My sincerest thanks to Fergzter for the cache. Appreciate your efforts.

Quick and easy find, tried to sign but the log book is wet, might need maintenance
Quick easy find after a few Dnfs could not log it with DerpyLizNerd as the log is wet.
Out and about today around some areas our little 2WD wouldn't like to travel.
Nice drive around here and a good cache hide.
Certainly looked tall!

Another fun find on a tour of the forest today
There's some good views along the way too.
And here in a spot where it was awkward to stop,
I went for a short stroll
Pretty obvious which tree it was
The one that hasn't been chopped

Found in the company of 08151605 as we visited the area to clean up a few missed caches. It was absolutely freezing this morning so very thankful for a quick find to be off to the warmth of the car. This tree definitely stood out from a long way off. Thanks for the cache Fergzter
Find #1739 for me. Found at 11:45 am with jtnsilo and virbull on our way to Ballarat from Bendigo. Noticing several DNFs on this cache and Brandy with Moore I decided to postpone my visit until receiving confirmation that the caches were still there, so when the maintenance logs came through I knew we were good to go. Had I been alone I would have parked at the top of the hill on Moores Road and walked down, but my traveling companions insisted that the road down was fine for my 2WD so I cautiously continued our adventurous car journey right up to GZ - at snail's pace mind you! Well, I didn't want to leave the card on the bend so let the others out while I reversed a little to get off the road - not that anybody would have been driving along that road, but you know Murphy's Law.... By the time I got out of the car and arrived at GZ the other two had already made the find. Certainly glad we didn't have to climb the tallest tree in the forest! Thanks for bringing us here today Fergzter and thanks for the cache!
Day caching with jtnsilo and Claybol...... GZ was visible from a long way away. Found pretty quickly, logged and on our way. TFTC
