Waiting for the old man to come out of day surgery, cat' and I spent a very pleasant couple of hours finding a few urban caches. We even found a few minutes to glean all the information needed to log this Earthcache.
Cat' is the rock jock of our duo so it was consequently left to her to file, collate and assemble our masses of intel' into a semblance of order required to compile a suitable submission to the authorities to gain permission for us to log a find on line. [^]
With no rejection received to date I can only assume we are safe to do so.
TFTC Na'wal.

Enjoyed this Earth Cache in an oasis in suburbia. Thank you Na'wal for an interesting subject close to my heart.
With the sun shining I set off on an afternoon adventure to find a few caches that had been on the list for a while, as well as visiting a few cemeteries… as you do!
This was an LGA I didn’t have many finds in so I stopped by this park for a trad and earth cache combo. I gathered the necessary details and set off to the trad.
Having finally sent the answers off to the CO I’m not posting my log.
Thanks Na'wal for the cache.

Lovely leafy park with very few muggles today, confidently pretended I was completely normal in searching around on the ground referring to my phone every now and then. TFTC.
Saw the pop up message earlier in the week being Earthcache Day today! After doing a search, noticed that this was the Earthcache within my 5km that I hadnt done yet!. Really excited today to get out, as Earthcache day is our anniversary of starting geocaching.
Thanks for bringing us to this park today, surprisingly this park didn't have as many people as other parks we past. I enjoyed the geology of this cache.

With this being the only earthcache with 5km from home it was on my bike early in the morning for a cache! Neat park here

Being Earthcache weekend, I checked to see what Earthcaches were available within my 5 km.s Covid 19 limit. It looks as though I've done all the others, but not this one. I think I shied away from it because parking in the area can be difficult.
However, being the only one left, I took my chances and was lucky enough to find a car park very close. Perhaps I was lucky because of the lockdown????
Once there, I had a read of the cache notes, then set about determining my answers to the questions. These have been send off for approval, and then it was back home. This was my second cache in the last 3 - 4 months since the lockdown, so my stats won't be looking good.
My thanks to Na'wal for the cache, and an interesting geology lesson.

Given this was close to home and doesn't require touching, it seemed like the perfect cache to grab on my cycle. Perfect day for it.
I never would have expected such interesting rocks in a suburban park. I enjoyed looking at them all, thinking about their formation and comparing them.
Thanks for the earthcache! Stay safe everyone!

Our first Geocache find in weeks!
Covid19 has had us coupled up at home with no adventures:(
GeoGranni rang a few days ago and explained Muggle Pa needed help going to a specialist appointment in Wagga Wagga and she needed help coming down to the Alfred so they could assess her for suitable surgery options.
Geo mum jumped at the chance of helping them, especially as it meant she could leave the house. With Dan lifting restrictions over night it meant a cache was in order too.
Granni wandered and looked at the grasses nearby while Geo mum sent photos to the Geo kids who were at home supposedly doing school work, asking them to answer the questions.
They didn’t do a very good job, perhaps they did that on purpose!
Anyway answers sent, fingers crossed, thanks for the EC.

At a time of uncertainty it was great to be able to get out and do an EC. Really enjoyable little park
We were heading into Melbourne for some cache maintenance and then to do Earthbound's "Service and sacrifice" Adventure Lab when Diane spotted that this earth cache wasn't much of a detour and as the rain had slowed down a little we thought that we would try our luck.
With the rain there was no trouble parking but we had a real feeling of de-ja-vu as we did.
We checked and found that we did a "dak's Emu Mob" cache here back in June 2009.
Back then we didn't take any notice of the interesting features at gz.
We worked our way through the questions and managed to get back to the car before the next wave of rain came through.
We have to see that this is a very interesting park and the first time that we have seen fantastic examples of rocks that are required for question 1.
Answers were submitted and we hope that they are good enough to claim a find.
Thanks Na'wal for bringing us back to this interesting park, a favourite point from us.

I was here a few days ago at the nearby cinema. I finally went to see the last star wars film. Shrugs.
On the way i stopped a moment to get all touchy feely and learn some more.
There were two really old ladies enjoying the rocks too.
They seemed happy.
Thank you for showing me this.

After spending the morning riding and caching around Albert Park I was on the way home but decided to make a diversion to this EC which I have wanted to complete for quite a while. I managed to score a parking space nearby just as the rain came. The rain didn't deter the picnickers in the little park so why should it me.
I spent a while getting what I hope is the correct info. I have sent it off to the CO for verification. TFTEC.

Found back in Jan, before a morning brunch with some friends. Quite a challenging set of questions to conquer! It shows you need to learn a few things to feel like you've fully passed some earthcaches.
With day1976, this was an interesting take on an earthcache. Nice place to sit at WP2.
Found this cache as part of Ilukaperi and my's quest to find as many "other" type caches as possible for 2019
Spent some time making sure we got the correct answers, they have been sent off to the CO, pending approval.
Different EC, I liked it, TFTC!

I was in Melbourne and headed over here to grab some caches and check out this Earthcache. Read the history and then looked in more detail at the interesting rocks scattered around the park. Collected the answers to the questions and sent them off to the CO. All good. Found with SmudgeyCat. Thanks for bringing me here and great to collect the International Earthcaching Souvenir for logging today

This was a very nice (and not too difficult) task to complete. It had me thinking about why rock looks like this or that. Hope my answers is mostly correct.
In Melbourne for an extended weekend to see a show and do some caching.

Out and about with MuggleWifeDoes chasing a few different caches in different places on such a pleasant Melbourne Sunday afternoon.
Permission to log sought.
What a quaint little park in the middle of all this hi-rise. Really pretty apart from all the rubbish left strewn around, such a pity the local residents don't value it a little more and clean it up.
**Thanks for placing this cache Na'wal**

Thanks for bringing me to this quiet park and teaching me about geology. Your earthcaches have taken me far and wide
Came by here in the dying light of day to complete this EC before (almost) calling it a day. I am familiar with basalt, which appears to be the building stone of choice for Melbourne. I didn’t really notice the vesicular patterns in the sidewalks until this Earthcache, so thanks for opening my eyes to them. Interestingly cut rocks here, wonder what they were meant to signify. In any case, TFTEC!
Despite the heat of the day and the need to really go home, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to find another Na'wal Earthcache. I feel like I am slowly ticking these off! It really was an interesting community space and the rocks here felt somewhat out of place. I did enjoy learning about them though and wandering around. As it was so hot, I ended up taking lots of photos rather than writing answers, so I hope they have done the answers justice! Answers emailed to CO. TFTC
A last morning on a business trip to Melbourne. Similarly to other mornings during the trip, I started the day by running around few caches. This time I had a bit more time, thus few caches more compared to the other mornings.
From the Fawkner Park I headed towards the caches in South Yarra and visited also this park. Answers sent to the CO, TFTC!

**This was 1 of 23 caches that was found by me on the 5th of 16 caching days here in Australia. Which also was the 42nd of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
Basalt have I encountered a lot during my travels in Iceland. And I would see much more in New Zealand in December.
The answers for us 4 did I send via Message Center on November 18.
*Together with Ingabo, jsson and Sivun I would spend 16 days in Australia. Our journey started in Melbourne and ended in Sydney. After that I continued to New Zealand while the others headed back towards Melbourne.*
*All in all I did manage to find 263 caches, 9 types, 3 new months and many more statistical fillers.*

My long late afternoon walk from Hawksburn Station to Balaclava Station got a rocky start. Studied the fine details as well as the larger picture. Answers sent to CO with thanks.
I arrived here at night picking up some of the local caches.
Wandering around I examined many specimens on offer.
Soon enough I had more than enough information.
Once again my average geology skills have come together to reward me.
A tick from the cache owner means happy days.
Another smiley for me.

A beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon, and not a carpark to be found.
A gentle walk to GZ, where I found a lovely oasis that was very inviting.
I gathered the required information then sat under the trees to enjoy the park (so different from the Dyeworks)
I have sent the answers to the CO. Thanks Na’wal for showing me this space.

What a curious place in amongst the concrete jungle of apartment buildings. It wasn't at all what we were expecting. The place was deserted when we visited, but there still was no parking in sight. This was yet another example of the interesting and unexpected places geocaching takes us. Thanks for bringing us here Na'wal. Answers have been supplied.

I'd headed to Melbourne on the 5th May for a weekend stay to see Priscilla: Queen of the Desert
Instead there was a mammoth change in my plans when the Corolla suddenly needed new brakes [xx(] which led to needing new tyres [^] which led to needing a new wheel bearing [xx(]
So a weekend turned into almost 3 full weeks and my HUGE thanks to the very patient and tolerant kmace who not only provided accommodation for myself but also for Rex [:X][:X]
Having your home invaded by a rabid geocacher who gets irritated when they have no car to go and find caches because it is in the workshop [xx(] and a pup who shreds his toys all over the house is not an easy ask for a day or two: let alone 20 odd days! [:X]
Rex also loved the beaches and the seagulls so there were many walks on the beach, some in pouring rain and gusting winds but that's what being a dog owner is about [^]
During this time some fantastic caches were found and some adventures occurred [^]
My thanks to all of the COs for the fun and the finds [^]
Day 23 of the trip and after caching Ballarat yesterday with leafotwind, today Rex and I picked up a few random caches near our overnight stay close to the lovely Sand Bar cafe before making our way home to Shepparton. No DNFs is a rare occurrence and 7 finds were made
An interesting little park where I had a pretty quick wander while Rex waited in the car as there was a bit of traffic around.
The stones are pretty cool well much cooler than when they formed

Answers submitted - hopefully correct!...
A familiar topic, and a commonly observed phenomenon in basalt judging by the many bluestone paving tiles and similar stone objects I've seen, this Earthcache was informative and brought be to a park I've never visited before (indeed, I had thought this cache was in a different park entirely - lucky I took a closer look! ) I had a little uncertainty identifying the correct rocks at WP2 so submitted answers for both. TFTEC

Answers submitted on behalf of micaparamedic and myself and permission given to log find.
After a big day out we enjoyed taking a few minutes out of the traffic to just walk around this interesting location.
I have been in Victoria for just over a week (visiting from Adelaide), hanging out with the lovely micaparamedic and attending lots of events. Today we headed into the city to attend a Boxing Day event, find a few virtuals, challenge caches, multis and trads.
Gosh it was a nice day, we even had a yummy fish and chips picnic in a beautiful spot in the shade on the edge of the Yarra - so relaxing - I almost fell asleep on the rug!
Thanks so much for the earthcache Na'wal!

Called past this scenic park to do the research on Dyework Rocks. Appreciated the aesthetics of the basalt sculptures and learning about the history of the area. Thanks for a great earthcache Na'wal!
What a wonderful park.
The park is quite fascinating, but I was unable to find any history on the site.
Best I could do was environmental reports on soil contamination.
Anyway, nice place to visit and walk around.

First day in Melbourne with the good wife (arrived late last night) so this morning was an opportunity to get out and find a few caches as I work towards a personal goal in caching.
The morning did not amount to a great number of caches but did result in me walking 13.5kms and still managing to locate a total of four caches and being back at the hotel in 2 hours with a fresh coffee.
this was the limit of my walk today so a nice place to stop and learn about the geology of the area. thank you for bringing me here today.
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache.

Saw this one was nearby so over we went. We found the traditional here first off, then gathered the information for the earth cache. Logging in anticipation of an OK from the CO.
Interesting formations in the middle of suburbia, and also the history of this location. Visited two TB's who liked the park too. TFTC Na'wal.

We gather the information for the earth cache...me being the scribe and aries44 doing the observations. An interesting location.
We have sent the answers to the CO. TFTC Na'wal.

A trip to a specialist in Prahran was in order and conveniently we dropped off the spiderlings with my parents and ventured in ourselves. Time was on our side and we were able to snare a few caches in the area - this being one of them. We found the first rocks and my days in the Earth Sciences department at Melbourne Uni came back to me. I enjoyed investigating the answers. Onto the next stage, our GPS played up and we took a guess at the cluster of rocks required. Answers collected there, we were off to our next cache and the appointment. TFTC Na'wal

It's been a while since I managed to find an Earthcache and since I was coming to this area for the first time I decided to take a look.
Thanks Na'wal, for showing me this area, the lesson in geology and for a nice day out.

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches. I have got a nice streak going and hoping to let it run for as long as possible. I usually cache on my own but sometimes I will collect my nephew stinky bob and my brother stinky tom who both enjoy this hobby.
A big thanks goes out to all the cachers and cache owners without whom this lifestyle would not be possible.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work.

Tonight we had an unexpected rush up to the Alfred with Sims_family Mum's sister having an emergency operation. It was my job for the night to be taxi and get Sims_family mum, her sister and brother up to the hospital. After that job was done I had some time to kill. Even though it was very late, rapidly approaching midnight what else was I to do so I started to cache the area. Within in reason no dark alleys or anywhere that seemed a bit dangerous at that time of night.
I didn't expect to find an earthcache in the middle of suburbia, especially one that I was able to complete just before midnight. But that is what I was doing checking out rock formations by torchlight
Thank you Na'wal for the lesson

On an urban run with ahomburg today and this was one of many caches stop at along the way. This was quite an interesting GZ, clearly these rocks have been here for a long time as they look too heavy to have moved into position. With some details collected and following discussion on the answers we moved on. Thanks for showing me this interesting spot Na'wal.

While waiting for some muggles to leave the gz, I was able to stroll around the park looking and taking photos of the many rock specimens.
Thanks for the interesting earth cache Na'wal and bringing me here.

At a bit of a loss for something to do today, so messaged sedgwickDave and he was up for a mini cache run, so off we went for an afternoon of fun. The sun was shining, so why not? Most of the caches were found with no problems, with a couple having us scratching our heads.
A nice quite park here today, a far cry from the very busy shopping strip nearby on Chapel Street. Nice little rock formation here too.

Find #3070
A warm sunny Sunday afternoon and I unexpectedly had a couple of hours to go caching. So I targeted on a bunch of relatively local hides that were either newish caches or ones I just hadn't got to for some reason. This was my final one of 10 and the pleasant surprise of an earth cache in this urban environment. I found a parking spot very close by headed in to take a look. Very interesting to examine the rocks in question in search of the information. I struggled a bit with question 3 but my answers to the CO were approved to log. Thanks for the earth cache and permission to log Na'wal.

No problem finding the features to observe and work out the answers for this earth cache. Then answers were sent to the CO who kindly gave the go ahead to log the cache as a find. Thanks to Na'wal for bringing us to this park to learn some more about different aspects of the geology around us. Earth caches rock!
The day was getting warmer. I'd managed to quickly grab the nearby traditional and had a good look at the rocks in question. I loved the wavy path also made from basalt. In one area (in the shade of the trees) the vesicles looked like animal foot prints in the way that they were clustered. I'll send you the answers to the questions asap. Thanks for another Earthcache.
The rocks were rocks. Their igneous nature was obvious. Licking the rocks could result in tongue blood. Why were the rocks here. Was there an ancient volcano? Or was it emulating a moon scape?
Thanks to Na'wal and *clear skies* from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!

Cool park with cool rocks, love the way they set them up...tackled this one with Astro who wasn't as impressed with the puppy dog nearby as I was, but liked the wavy path that you could follow
Many thanks Na'wal from the Wacky one

Got the info required for this EC with tamarakwhite while doing the Quest series nearby. Nice park. TFTC Na'wal
In need of a couple of daily caches to fill a calendar slot and keep a streak going I was running out of time after work. So, having kept this EC for just such an occasion I popped around, did the research and emailed off my answers.
An interesting set of questions which taught me a little about vesicular formations. TFTC, Na'wal

Found by Team Ninja 29/11/16, find number 944.
I had the day off work so I went into the city to finish off my Christmas shopping. I used to work in Richmond and I knew there were a lot of caches in South Yarra, so I detoured via the area to complete a few of the Quest series.
This was a must find whilst completing the nearby quest series cache. I enjoyed having a closer look at the rocks in the park. TFTC Na'wal!

Making my way back down Chapel after having a pub meal with a mate and saw this EC - Yep - must grab that for a 5/5 EC challenge I am trying to qualify for.
it was a little sketchy walking past the commission flats on dusk however all was quiet here and I was able to grab the info needed easily. An interesting spot amongst the hustle and bustle of the rich and the beautiful nearby - the CO has a good eye for earth caches!
Cheers and thanks

My deepest and sincerest apologies for the absolutely woeful logging time for this cache. I currently have a backlog of 460 found it logs from the last three years. Yikes! Obviously, many of these will be difficult to remember and with such a big backlog I simply have to do a default log (other than a few special favourites along the way). I am writing this on the 18th of May 2019, when this log is for 29/10/2016 Thanks to all of the owners and sorry for the pitiful log!
Well this was interesting.... , had no real issues finding the cache info however I thought it might be safer mugglewise to do this cache at night, not so!! . Some young guys were just finishing up a BBQ on the other side of the park but I decided I could gather information unsuspecting. They didn't ask me what I was doing instead the threw bread & piece of steak at me!! Lesson learnt muggles suck . TFTC
I braved the gale force winds today and headed out to gather my souvenir for earth cache day.
I gathered some notes and recorded them on my phone so I could remember everything properly at home.
Questions have been sent and attached is a picture of the side of my head and the park for proof of being at GZ.
Thanks Na'wal for the cache, the adventure, the education and the fun.

A quick trip in to check out this Earthcache with +Wife this afternoon.
The wind was blowing a gale and there were quite a few tree branches down, a bit of maintenance for the local council in the coming days. We didn't cop it anywhere near as bad as the outer suburbs, where massive trees (and The Swaggies fence) were blown over and stories of power poles snapped clean off at their base have come through. Many thousands of residents without electricity on a day when lots were watching the cars race up at Bathurst. Our dogs enjoyed the outing too, they get cabin fever if they don't get out at least once each weekend. Nothing worse than two cranky dogs. The drive back home was fortunately uneventful.
Logged with the approval of the cache owner. Thanks Na'wal, you rock!
Find #2676. Found @ 18:15.
I needed an Earthcache to get the international earthcache day souvenir, and this was the closest unfound to home. I made my way to the start coordinates just before the rain started and took some photos of the required information.
Once I'd done that I grabbed some other pictures of interest.
Message with answers sent but I'm logging to keep my finds in order while pending logging approval.
EDIT: Permission to log granted.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Na'wal.
