With my luck didn't even bother. Just put on a clean white shirt today. Want to keep it clean.
As a few of the Team SEAC members had recently walked this track to the waterfalls we thought on such a lovely Sunday this would be a great idea. We packed Geodog into the car and headed out.
This one we were particular keen to spend the extra time on. The second cache that had eluded the other members of Team SEAC. Mr NZT started the search but with the GPS bouncing around and comments of washout outs it seemed we might be out of luck as well. Mrs NZT and Geodog however had moved further down from where Mr NZT was searching and found a place that fitted the hint.
Mrs NZT yelled out those magical words "FOUND IT" but I'm not sure how much of a help she had from Geodog as his tail was wagging very excitedly. Either way this made our day as we are now demanding that Keylev, B4Dawn and Stik-a-Crane hand back their geobadges and GPS's.
TFTC and we can confirm that the cache IS there and in good condition.....

Needed to get out of the house to my happy place in the bush, as this is now week 11 of Auckland being in lockdown 4/3 for Covid-19, so selecting trails that have not been heavily walked and then walking them during the week hopefully meant less people in the area.... and sure enough there were way less people compared to the evidence of how well the trails look like they have been used, and this trail had been on my radar for a wee while.....
Spent time looking on the way in and then another look on the way out, but think there are signs of a slip around where I suspect GZ to have been, and think the cache could have been washed away with heavy rain filling the creek....

This is probably one of the furthest south reserves that we are currently permitted to explore. B4Dawn had suggested this one a while ago and we had intended a Team SEAC outing here but lockdown prevented that. Now that we are allowed further afield we decided today was the day for our bubble.
Although it had been raining really hard earlier so it was very muddy we were spared the showers. The waterfall was stunning though and the roaring noise deafening - thanks for bringing us here!
Bush bashed for a while and almost fell into the stream a couple of times due to the slippery mud, all part of the fun of course, but no luck. Read some logs and tried to readjust where we had thought GZ was to the location further along the track. Found a couple of really good spots that it could have been in but unfortunately it was not to be today. Searched again on the way back too but still nothing .

Was a gloomy morning hike but was worth the trip. Keylev and I hit the day with another round of caching.
Spent a lot of time here but no luck at the end. We moved on and returned to try again. Still no joy. Had a read at a few notes, a bug in the ear to boot but decided it was time to move on.

Oh where do I start, this cache proved to be the trickiest of the series. Our gps couldn't settle on gz and we searched for anything that could be a hint item and did an awful lot of bush bashing. After 15 mins we decided to have a look on our way back and headed on and then discovered the path went round the corner so we started searching again. We were about to give up again but I decided to read through some logs and read one out loud. Nette looked down and what do you know, she was standing right by the cache. We had needlessly bush bashed as there is no need to leave the track and we were looking for way bigger hint items! Whew, we really didn't want a dnf today
Lovely walk on a nice day with the family. Very tricky to find, our GPS wasnt much help.
Had to wait for the family to walk along before looking for this one. Nice area for a walk. TFTC
Couldn't find this one on the way to the falls so had another go on the way back. A tricky one indeed! Cache found eventually once we had exhausted all but few options. Another one we are glad to have found. TFTC!
This was a tricky wee hide. Had another look on way back from the water fall and was able to find it. TFTC
As others have said this one took me ages. I had to go back up the track to download offline data as well.tftc
Just catching up on a few late logs. Have been here and enjoyed this lovely walk and the falls closeby before. So was lovely to come back and have a wonder collecting this awesome new series for here. Sun was shinning and nice interesting finds thx.
Found while on a trip north with tmann421.
Enjoying discovering the areas and finding some caches.
Signed the log tm/ww NZ

Short trip away with woolwood9.
Nice find for us today.
*Thanks for giving us a reason to visit!*

Very tough one, nearly gave up but ww9 found it.

Today I, Line_Moh, VibhaHB and other 3 Muggles friend headed to Harker Reserve (Vivian Falls), to visit the place and find some caches. We had no internet at this part of the track, so no description no hint and no GPS working properly, couldn't find.
Found together with KiwiLeon and Little Red Hood after a big night out in Port Waikato - was good to blow some cobwebs out. This one took quite some searching - like previous logs said. T4TC
Our GPS was bouncing us around all over the place so it was difficult to pinpoint the correct spot but we soon located the cache by covering a wide search area and using the hint.
Nicely placed. TFTC.

Had a great time zooming around this awesome walkway and nabbed the whole run of caches. A couple were tricky with cords jumping around in the bush. But wow, the waterfall at the end was WOW. Thanks for the caches and history the trail provided. Apologies for same log, it was a busy day!
Pretty sure it's still there but we couldn't link up anything with the hint and the previous logs so had to give it away after 20 odd minutes.
Sent Dot off in the wrong place. Then realised it was further up the track. Spotted hint item and find was made. Tftc
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Took a while as was search the wrong area. GPS was dancing and telling us the wrong location. Tftc
Weird, I had come back and found this one on a previous visit. Did I not log it? Strange. Anyway I remember revisiting with my Garmin which as expected was better than my phone which I had on the first attempt. Cheers!
Time for another wander round while my wife stays with some friends in Pukekohe. This was day 3 where I was torn between getting numbers or clearing an area. In either case I managed to pick up this cache thanks to a great hint after my GPS stopped playing ball. A neat little track to explore on a fine day. Cheers Tufty & Tftc
Today I headed South from where I was staying in Auckland as I had time to spare before I had to head to the airport and home. It's more than 6 years since I was on this track trying to find a few of the 'Solar System' caches. I noticed this 'new' cache series before I came away. Glad to be able to get here today. I found a few of the caches on my way in and left a few of them for the return walk. Missed this one on my way in but managed to find it on my way out. GPS struggled but careful reading of the hint and a couple of previous finders' logs put me right. TFTC, Biggles.
Have looked for this so many times and never found it, just happened to spot it today. Two very small/thin logs right at the edge of the track.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Travelling north for work purposes, and caching as we go.
We have had the GoNZ trail on our 'To Do' list for some time. We've had several opportunities to clear the trail, but always seem to get distracted or run out of time. At the beginning of the holiday season, we placed this series on our 'Holiday Hit List'... The holidays are almost done, and it's time we visited... This one was securely tucked away and well covered. TFTC.

Failed to find this more than a year ago, was still a difficult find took far to long! Widen the search and there it was!... TFTC
With fine weather on a Saturday for a change, and needing multiple finds for today's calendar date, we decided to visit Tuakau to look for this trail of Geckos of New Zealand. We have walked this trail before when the Solar System caches were here. Today we are hoping to find all the GoNZs, and to do any maintenance that is needed on behalf of the CO.
The Barking Gecko probably gave us the most difficulty of all the caches today. The hint didn't seem to match the first area our GPS pointed to, so we decided to walk on, and leave it till our return if necessary. But then we realised the track did a sharp turn, and our GPS indicated the cache could be along this stretch of the trail. We spied a couple of places that could match the hint, and the second one contained the cache. The logsheet was only very slightly damp, so we left it in the cache and added a waterproof logsheet. TFTC

Work finished up early afternoon today so I decided to take advantage of the reasonable weather -- the worst of the showers are forecast for this evening -- and get some exercise by walking the trails in Harper Reserve. Of course, there is the matter of picking up some caches along the way. After finding "jewelled" it was time to make my way back to the main track and head towards the starting point. But not before I find this one. This one took a little while to come up with as the GPSr kept indicating that it was around the bend. After checking out a few places I decided that none really matched the hint so I retraced my steps, around the bend, and soon found a likely spot. Soon came up with the goods once I was at actual GZ. Cheers for the walk and for the cache placement!
Mrs B spotted this one which was a little exposed apart from being covered in mud. Cleaned it up and placed back with a bit more cover on top. TFTC.
Well this was the hardest of the lot and had us looking all over the place as there were multiple options that fitted the hint. We retraced and finally after some time came up with the goods
Thank goodness this was an easy one !
Thanks ...hint made it easy too....
Now back to the tricky one...

Almost gave up! Hint is OK but many logs in the area to be honest. Coordinates bit up and down. Do not go to deep. I did ... Then took my torch out. It helps a lot. Found only thanks to be alble see some blue plastic from sistema container. Uff. All good at GZ. Wet but OK. Muddy but is autumn. Enjoyed this find. TFTC
Took the whole family on a New Years Day caching trip/walk to take on the New(ish) NZ Lizards series. With the weather not being to flash that was the only concern for the day, and the family really enjoyed the walk. Even CB got into the spirit and hung up her muggle hat for the trip and found a few of the caches. A great way to start the new year, thanks for the series!
Today we came back to do the last few caches of the series of Gecko-caches. Last time we did the first three and decided it was too hot and we rather went to the beach... Today it was a wonderful day, sunny and windy and not too hot. At the end of the series we found a wonderful waterfall we didn't even know was there. That was a nice surprise. That's what we love about geocaching, we learn about so many wonderful and hidden places.
It is also a very nice series of Gecko-caches. Tftc

Had a little time to myself today so headed up here nice and early (leaving Hamilton at 5am and back home by noon) so that I could get into the first walk as the sun started to come up as this is my favorite part of the day to be out hiking.
After the rain yesterday I had been hoping that the weather forecast would be for once accurate and give me clear skies.
This was the second cache and a nice quick find in the dark and the roads were all quiet here.
At the second of the walks today and also it was on the way back towards home. Well when I say back towards home with a slight detour to collect this series. I have had this series on the radar for quite some time (I well remember the last series that was placed along here) so very nice to finally have the opportunity to collect.
Second cache along the track and a nice quick find, All good with the cache container here today. At this point I decieded to play hop-scotch so that I had a few caches to collect on the walk back. Not many to go now then off home
Thanks to all the cache owners for their continued maintenance and of course placement of the caches I collected today

A cold winters day. Didn't find it so carried on to the end and got it on the way back tftc
What a lovely day to tackle this series of caches in this beautiful reserve. We remembered coming here early on in our caching career to find the original series hidden here, so it was nice to revisit the area and claim some new finds. Just a wee bit of nostalgia!
This one took the longest to spot, GPS had us searching everywhere, and it was only after backtracking a but before we spotted the container. Glad to have found this one, it was a bit touch and go for awhile there. Thanks for the hide!

Unfortunately I had an old GSAK database onboard, so logging as DNF but really it's my fault. Will return to grab. Have updated my database too
Coordinates changed from:
S 37° 18.258 E 174° 55.826
Coordinates changed to:

I was out checking on my GoNZ caches and the coords for this needed to be updated. I make them to be S 37 18.256 E 174 55.819.

Thought we might have been barking mad here. Not able to locate or see where the hint might mean, considering all the other hints had well assisted us as my GPS is always off.
Had a good poke around for this one but didn't locate it. Plenty of likely spots though.
We searched in multiple locations here with no luck. So many options but we didn't have the luxury of time to spend ages combing the area. We had a pretty good go at it though. On the way back past, as we were heading back to the car, we looked sideways at this area and used the phrase "If at first you don't succeed, Don't bother again". Pokeno ice-cream was calling us!!
Last day of Christmas break, so why not spend it Geocaching, off to a late start, but once we got there we started off on the familiar walk to find a whole load of new caches.
Thanks for bringing us back here again, we made the extra effort and went on to the waterfall and admired the peacefulness

I took the caching buddy, Josie with me for a walk and spent a pleasant couple of hours wandering along the track. I remember it well from the last series that was here. Took a little longer this time as the weather was nice and Josie wanted a swim in every stream as we passed. Thanks.
Ryan and I were heading south so a nice stop to stretch the legs along the way was welcome. Headed off to find these caches and we remember the trail well from the solar system series. This was a wee way away from the posted co-ords and didn't have Sp8m8's coords but logic soon led us to the right location. TFTC
Found ... Mrs McMike2012 had decided that we needed to escape the big city for a while & go for a nice long bush walk to wear off some of the pre-Christmas over-indulging from the previous couple of weeks ... we had been out to 'The Harker Reserve' some time ago & had cleaned up the previous series of caches that had been placed throughout ... decided that the time was ripe to snag this new series of caches ... this being the 5th of the series but the 6th for the day ... easily found, well after a bit of fossicking around at any rate, log completed & replaced ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... #1,441 for us.
Quick find with hoofnt . While we were at this one had a close encounter with a wood pidgeon, very cool. TFTC
sp8m8's waypoint was spot on here, so used that one after originally using the posted coordinates. Have struggled from time to time getting mine right so no shame in not getting it spot on first time. The posted coordinates kind of, but not really match the hint which threw me off for a bit, but the other coordinates made it clear. Dropped in a couple of small trinkets to the box, signed log, replaced and moved on. TFTC.

I spent lots of time chasing a wandering GPSr and looking where the hint was not before I read some logs and found the more accurate coords from sp8m8: S 37° 18.255 E 174° 55.810.
Even with these, I started looking around the back side first before I returned to the trail and found the cache in a very convenient spot. TFTC.

2166 My GPS appeared to be sending me to the same place as others but not the correct place. So had no luck on the way in. Read the logs while at the waterfall so knew where to look on the way back. Had spotted the hint item further on. Cache under natural camo. Glad that I could find this and complete the series.
The GPS led us to a well searched spot, but after searching in vain we realised it didn't match the clue. Expanded our search area but couldn't see anything that matched so decided to have another go on the way out. As we departed I stopped at something that could have been interpreted as the clue, and Mrs Sp8 at something else 2 meters away. She had the success. Adding a waypoint, averaged for a couple of minutes.

We hunted here for quite some time and by the end of 20 mins I suppose, FMZ, Harisree and myself were tired of looking, so moved on then FMZ spotted something that caught his attention, and whaddayaknow! He found the cache! But this time we are first to find it and we realise Jaybees must have given up with the search and gone home. So this spurred us on and thought maybe we might {FTF} the others remaining. So a very nice joint FTF here for us 3.

Saw this series of new caches pop up so got a small band of merry cachers together - Harisree, Gorby and myself, and headed down after work, in the rain and the dark (by the time we got there). This one had us searching in the wrong area for a few minutes before deciding we will find it on the way back out, and then bam, we had the cache in hand, not so hard after all! And to our surprise, a joint [FTF] for our group here. FTF # 19xx TFTC!!!
On a roll now............found 4 so here comes the next 4. Well its getting wetter and darker and i am darned if with the help of my torch that i can find this one. Leave it for the next person.
