A quiet drive around the Port Augusta area for us today. We have enjoyed exploring this area over the last few days. Log signed on this lovely quiet road. Great views up to the Flinders Ranges. Mystery Island looks mysterious but definitely not an island today. Thanks diggers09Domsky
Staying in Whyalla tonight before heading to Port Pirie. Getting a few caches along the way
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Back in Port Augusta for a few days after 3mths exploring the Eyre Peninsula. A cool view from GZ. Tftc
Out caching with my caching buddy, MrsShep77, and our faithful drivers. Thanks for the great hides.
Was supposed to be headed to Adelaide for a quick trip but plans changed! Decided to head to Port Augusta for the day to cache …. as you do!
Happy caching and safe travels!

Adelaide to Port Lincoln Road Trip!
Day Two: Quorn to Whyalla.
Weather: sensational.
I don’t know what the weather has been like around here recently - we’ve had a lot of rain around Adelaide. No issues doing the Yorkey loop in a 2WD today.
I got lucky here and spotted the cache very quickly, just as a recreational vehicle barrelled towards me and then headed out onto the flats.
Thanks for the hide diggers09.
It’s officially a Mega!

A quick drive by find. Was interesting to reminisce about the time I caught kingfish up this way (locked in by the draining tide by the train bridge). TFTC
On a road trip around the Mid North and Eyre Peninsula, geocaching as I go. Predominantly targeting old caches, solved mysteries and grabbing some interesting looking traditionals.
After a bite to eat, I was ready to grab a few more caches.

Doing the usual Pt Augusta morning of caching as we head home from our Eyre Peninsula holiday . Decided to attack the Yorkey's Crossing loop this morning .
It looks like a lot of vehicles drive to the island, but we weren't going to get sucked into that today .

Thanks for one more Diggers09.

Found on a short camping and caching trip north from Adelaide with FeatherWaite.
We slowly made our way up to near Lake Gairdner on the first day, picking up some selected traditional, letterbox and multi caches along the way. We then went across to Hiltaba where we travelled around part of the property, visiting Hiltaba Lookout and Mount St Mungo to find some more caches, including a couple of FTFs, before heading down to near the Gawler Ranges National Park to camp. Then it was off to Whyalla where we targeted a few multis and traditional caches before returning to Adelaide the following day.
Unlike our trip to the south east a fortnight ago, where we were pretty well rained out, we enjoyed reasonable weather with clear skies for most of the time; the only exception being a bit of rain overnight in the Gawler Ranges area.
Most of the caches were found in good condition, although we did have to replace a couple of containers and logbooks.
Thanks diggers09 for the cache.

Found during a caching trip to Hiltaba, the Gawler Ranges and Whyalla with e.gregory1 for a few days. On Day 1 we traveled to Port Augusta and Iron Knob then camped out for the night near Lake Gairdner. On Day 2 we arrived at Hiltaba with the main objective to tackle the caches on Mark Bonin Peak 'The Lookout' and Mt St Mungo before traveling through the Gawler Ranges. On Day 3 we drove to Whyalla then camped out nearby for the night. Day 4 saw us return back to Adelaide, picking out a few selected caches along the way. Targeting a range of cache types (Traditionals, Puzzles, Earthcaches, Multicaches, and Letterboxes), a multiple of cache attributes, and a wide variety of Difficulty/Terrain combinations resulted in an entertaining few days with cool weather and great scenery. Thanks for the cache diggers09!

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
A few things to get done in Port Augusta today, so I really thought we would only concentrate on the two previous DNS at the Arid Gardens. I had heard they had been replaced. After finding them, we almost went back to the van, but kept finding "next closest" gave us another, and another smily face as we drove around the Yorkies Crossing road. We ended up having a 10 out of 10 day.
Beautiful view, would love to see at high tide. Good hide too. Thanks diggers09

Work's done and dusted for the week which means a free afternoon for caching - the target was to travel Yorkeys Crossing and find caches along the way. Great views and playing dodgem with trucks made the day.
I came around the corner and went WOW. This area is a moonscape, most interesting.
Thanks for brining me here diggers09.

Apologies for the late log ... life interrupted my logging. I hate it when that happens!
Doctor Owl spotted this one straight away so we quickly retrieved it. Enjoying our drive around Yorkey's Crossing and the interesting locations and views.
Mrs Gizmo escaped for a two day caching trip to Port Augusta with Dr Owl and CPwanderer.
After some annoying DNFs we headed off for a hot afternoon drive around Yorkey's Crossing and hopefully no more DNFs.

Owl managed to spot the cache from a distance, which made the retrieve much safer. You've certainly introduced the trio to some interesting locations!

Out and about in the Port for the day with time to kill so we did the rounds and collected a few great caches to keep us busy. Perfect weather with no wind and gentle Autumn sunshine. We did notice how clear the air is up here now the power station is closed. Thanks for the effort in putting out these caches.
After arriving near GZ we had to wait for a short while as a muggle vehicle headed down to the salt pan. Then it was a quick find in the right place with the right camo. Log signed, cache replaced, job completed. Thanks go to diggers09 for featuring this island.
#6481 - 13:17; Day 7 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and albida33, so most logs were signed S.A.L. as a result. After a night in Port Augusta, today's plan was to cache in and around Port Augusta and Stirling North before heading south towards Whyalla for a couple of nights and produced 88 finds along with only 4 DNFs. After a morning caching around Port Augusta and Stirling North, we headed off for a circuit around Yorkeys Crossing. This was one of our eleven finds from eleven attempts as we went around enjoying the views and the caches. TFTC diggers09
Alice trip 2017. Day 5. With Sol de Lune and LuckL10n we started caching around Pt Augusta and Stirling before heading to Whyalla via a few of the short trails. A loop around Yorkeys crossing yielded several caches.

On the road to the Alice Springs Mega with LuckyL10n and Albida33. We headed through Burra and Port Pirie before arriving in Port Augusta for the trek up the highway. Collected a good number of caches and all were found with no issues and the logs were soon signed. (Some logs were signed as S.A.L. to save space.)
Thanks for the cache and fun in getting to it and finding it.

After overnighting in Port Augusta it is time to continue our journey northward to the Oz Mega Event in Alice Springs. But first we must place some more smiles on the map for this area.
We have turned a couple of unfound in town to smilies now it's time to stay away from the black top for as long as we can. (Which won't be long around here)
TNLN SL TFTC
Sorry for the templates log but we have a few to do and not long to do them in.
