Merry Cachemas!!!

It was a weekend of Cachemas celebrations and lots of traveling. After stopping in Ballarat overnight it was off to Beaufort for lunch before heading south to the Bellarine for a CITO and dinner, with a few caches inbetween.

A nice little history lesson at this stop and a quick find at GZ. The cache was a little damp as was the logbook. OzHockeyChick cleared it out and resealed the bag before replacing it.

Thanks chooknchunk for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

It’s cachemas time! A weekend full of events, citos, catching up with friends and turning caches into smileys.

A quick find here. Unfortunately, the cache was not closed properly, and the bag was not ziplocked, so the logbook has got slightly damp. Still signable though.
We read the cache description. Cool homestead!

Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, chooknchunk

We could think of no better way to start a new year than to go caching with ilook4geo on a slow route to attend our first event of the year.
This was one of the caches we picked up along the way. All was in good condition and the log was signed with both names. Thanks go to chooknchunk for placing this cache.

We decided to take a roundabout trip home from Avoca to St Leonards. The more we drive around this part of Victoria, the more we love it. This morning was cool and clear, classic Autumn weather and the smell of the Australian bush was magnificent. Mr Dromaniax almost lost an eye looking for this cache. Caps can obscure your vision. Once the hazard was avoided the cache was soon spotted and signed. The cache is a little damp, but OK otherwise. Thank you for the cache and the history lesson chooknchunk. Now off to Burrumbeet to collect a GeoTour cache.

20-Mar-21
Great history lesson. I think it would be quite interesting to read this woman's account from that time period. We found the cache as the farmer in the next paddock was doing a stubble burn so it was a bit smoky! Thanks for the info and work put into this cache!

Was told by my work to have Monday off from work so i turned that into 3 days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I picked a spot on the map that I can not remember ever visiting so Marybourgh was the spot.
After a couple of great days of caching and catching up with some good friends it was time to head towards home but a longer way home was picked so I could go via some towns to find some more and a few Adventure Labs on the way.
After leaving Beaufort I took a detour to find this one.
I would love to have a look at the homestead and all of its associated buildings.
The Soldiers Settlement Scheme was interesting to read about up near the school.
After checking a few spots I soon located the cache, added my name to the log and now to continue my journey towards home.
Thanks chooknchunk TFTC.

I was heading to the Grampians for a couple of days of geocaching with friends and stopped for a break along the way. This was going to be my first for the day, but I added one more before this one. Found it nice and quickly as the rain was beginning to fall.

My thanks for the cache, chooknchunk.

Living on Wadawurrung Country ourselves, we have a keen interest in the local history. S enjoyed reading Katherine Kirkland's memories, based on the letters she wrote back to her mother in Scotland. One of the few recorded encounters between women and men of different cultures!
During a previous visit, we forewent looking for the cache in the company of a curious muggle. This time, the smile is ours.
Thank you for highlighting this place and some of its story!

Found by Mary and David at 15:35. Always time for one more cache. A FP for such wonderful research and cache notes. We do love local stories like this. Our last for the day. Our thanks to chooknchunk.

Temporarily disabling this cache due to the Corona Virus.
Geocaching is not "essential travel".
It puts others at risk when you travel unnecessarily, no matter how isolated a cache may be.
Please stay at home.

After camping in Beaufort on chooknchunks farm; myself, Day1976, my sister Nakarra and Day's son Jo ventured out as team JIND in an effort to get to 70 caches today.

15-Sep-19
Having camped at the chooknchunk's place the night before, Ilukaperi, her sister, my son Yeah09 and myself awoke reasonably early and after coffee, breakfast and packing up we hit the road by about 8:30am. Our goal for the weekend was to find 70 caches, but having only found 3 yesterday, we all thought that finding 67 today might be a tall order. Happy to say we achieved that, plus a few extra as well to give us a grand total of 70 for today and 3 yesterday.

Found by Nancarra, I wasn't too far behind. TFTC!

Hatzofff and I are now on a short six night break from QOGM 2019 preparations, and have three of those nights in the Raglan area with chooknchunk. Thanks guys!

Today was the journey out of Melbourne after dropping off daughter at the airport. Found the first of 28 caches at around 12.30 PM and the last at around 4.30 PM.

Our first cache find of the day - a rather pleasantly green spot.

Log signed and cache replaced as found at 12.29 PM on 23rd August 2019. TFTC, chooknchunk.

On a few occasions, Ninny Muggins and I have tried to organise a day of caching, but other plans have always got in the way. But today the plans came together as we made our way to Beaufort to Celebrate International Caching Day with an event and some great caches around Beaufort. All 30 caches located with no DNF’s on a perfect day with blue sky.

Thanks for making us aware of this interesting piece of history in the western Districts.
Log signed and replaced as found.

Found It........While sitting down having breakfast this morning It was decided to head north to chase some caches. After setting off we pulled up near GZ i jumped out and seeing how far the grader had been off the side of the road i was thinking that the cache might have been included in the new road foundation but on a closer look it was discovered in its hidey hole safe and sound and with the log signed we continued on our journey. Thanks chooknchunk for the cache and highlighting the old stations that are hiding out on these back roads

Found while on a maintenance run with chooknchunk. "Let's take this road to avoid the roadworks," said someone. Yeah, right. Had to stop for road works, then negotiate around trucks, earthmoving equipment and cars. Road was very soft underneath. Made it to GZ, but couldn't see the station. I would've loved to be able to see the buildings. Very interesting to read the description-amazing the different purposes they had for the different houses. TFTC

A nice series of caches on the back roads today. Interesting descriptions, it is so nice to learn about how things were in the past.

Wozzle and I decided after our trip to Mildura over the previous days we would also go to Ararat for an event and to catch up with other friends (including The Morris, ChooknChunk -the lovely COs - and others)

Well what an unexpected wonderful adventure this week turned out to be! Cool I was meant to be in Alice Springs, but plans needed to change, so a relaxing trip to Victoria was the go. Smile

Wozzle68 and I buddied up, and we ended up being great travel companions [^]....OMG, so much laughter Big Grin, loud music [^], off-key singing SurprisedRed FaceRazz and fun was had [:o)] [^]. We also teamed up with ChooknChunk and travelled in convoy to attend Mildura for '3 States in a Day' caching and events. What a great 4-some we made Cool[^]....certainly brilliant dynamics [^], fabulous conversations [^] and loads of giggles Big Grin[^].

Thanks for the cache chooknchunk! Smile

Find No. 1698. Found at 2.35pm.

After attending the morning event in Beaufort, we went and had our lunch in the park, then spent the afternoon finding caches around Beaufort that we still had to find and this was one of them.

With FUF009 on board, he navigated Mr Tyred n Cranky to the caches. At each one he sat in the van and watched us searching for the goods as he had found them all on another trip.

No problems in locating this hide. FUF009 was amazed at how quick we were finding them - and without his help.

Suscoe headed off on a longer trip today in search of some elusive caches for us.
It promised to be a warm day and it reached 36 degrees late in the afternoon.
The mornng was quite reasonable with the temperature hovering around 27 degrees til noon.
Bright sunshine with some wispy clouds up high and a steadily northwesterly made it the typical Summer's day for central Victoria.
The roads were fairly quiet today which was appreciated.

Thanks to chooknchunk for another interesting cache.
This wraps up our finding of your caches for today.
Thanks for the terrific range of hides.
A most enjoyable day out for us.
