Freddo went for a swim. Apparently he was croc bait for his companion. Answers sent to the cache owner and politely accepted.Freddo and e.gregory1 were heading up the middle of Australia following Stuart's well trodden route. We were travelling in air conditoned comfort and style. No stale food. No camels to carry water. We were leaving the cold winte for the northern season.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is the twentieth and sixth day of Julius Caesar's Month in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a cool cloudy and raining. No wind today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. An early morning swim (bath) after staying at the gravel pit near the Elsey Cemetery turn-off.Answer sent. Favourite awardedI reckon I have found almost all of the firesafe Earthcaches now.We are supporting our mate who is running to Darwin (@curlyrunsnz). He started at Stewart Island in November, just south of the South Island of New Zealand and made to Cape Reinga at the tip of the North Island by New Years Day. He then flew to Tasmania, ran to the ferry terminal in Devonport and sailed to Geelong. Since then it has been a long hard slog across Victoria and into South Australia up the Stuart Highway but he is now close to the finish line in Darwin.firesafe, I found Mataranka Thermal Spring today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

We embarked on the journey to explore Rainbow Spring and were mesmerized by the natural beauty that unfolded before us. As we walked along the trail, the signs provided intriguing insights into the origin and significance of this geological wonder. At the viewing platform, we marveled at the clear waters of Rainbow Spring, glistening under the sunlight. The knowledge shared on the signs deepened our appreciation for the intricate processes shaping this natural phenomenon. As instructed, we refrain from disclosing the answers to the questions here. Instead, we will email them to the cache owner to uphold the integrity of the Earth Cache. We enjoyed swimming at the springs.

We had an amazing experience while staying here, visiting the springs after 10pm and experiencing a sound bath with Tibetan singing bowls. Well my whirl wind tour of 5 states in 3 weeks has started and after reaching the SA border and now the NT border it was time to locate a few caches here or there as I won’t be doing that much caching on this trip as I’m with muggle friends.
We have finally reached a spot where we are staying for 2 nights and now to visit a great place that I have stopped in at before.
We donned the bathers and off we went for a swim.
I took the pics of the boards as I went to work out what was needed.
A great spot for a small swim or just a float around with a noodle.
Answers have been sent to the CO.

A fav goes out to you for a fantastic spot.

Day Four: Mataranka to Threeways
Weather: perfect.

Answers sent by email. There’s no cheating by using the information from Bitter Springs because the information is slightly different. It all looks very inviting here, but I didn’t go in. Bit too crowded and rowdtpy for me, and there are caches to be found further down the highway.

Day 39 of our greynomad trip up north and after a the JLWEvents, a tour of Maralinga and caching to claim LGAs in the Eyre Peninsula, we are attempting to escape the southern weather that has been wet and windy.

Another day of sunshine, and we headed out to find a few caches before we suffered from the heat What a lovely little oasis and it was quite a surprise to see the water so clear.

Our Northern Territory journey began in Darwin around 3am after a very delayed flight. We drove as far north as Fresh Water Camp (northeast of Darwin), followed by a loop to Liberated Cox (out to the west) and Litchfield National Park returning to Darwin. We then headed south with overnight stops at Katherine, Daly Waters and Devils Marbles before reaching our southernmost accommodation at Erldunda. From here we did a day trip to Lamberts Gravitational Centre on onward past Finke. Our last couple of days were in Alice Springs with a side trip via Hermannsburg and Glen Helen, all up covering just under 3800km. My thanks to all the COs with hides throughout the territory for helping make our trip so enjoyable.

We enjoyed a bit of a walk round and collected the information we needed to log this earthcache, answers sent to CO and approved.

This trip was sort of in place of a trip to a Mega that got canceled due to accommodation problems, I was quite happy when Goose said do you fancy to caching break in the Northern Territory as this would be the last State or Territory for me in Australia.

Our plan was to fly into Darwin on the Friday night have a couple days in the area then start heading South stopping overnight whenever we needed to, our next goal was the drive to the geographic centre of Australia at Lambert Centre and then head back to Alice to fly home ten days later.

We both had a great trip finding some important old caches, large ones and the odd clever one too, we found Ammo Cans all over the place which was nice as i think we have found most of the ones at home in Tassie.

Thanks for the cache.

Found on our roadtrip from Darwin to Yulara. What a stunning place. While I was researching the area I found out that the aquifer that feeds the springs is one and a half times the size of Italy. How mind-blowing is nature? Thanks for bringing us to this stunning place.

I like a thermal spring & have swim in Iceland's oldest surviving public one (very basic!) and in a few in the Azores. However, thanks to a lot of nights sleeping in the car, this was the most appreciated and of course I gathered the required info from a few signs - answers coming via Messenger. Awesome spot for an EC as well as a relaxing and refreshing dip. TFTEC!

Staying in Katherine for a few days provided us with a great location to explore surrounding areas.
One of our day trips was to Mataranka, where we did a couple of short walks, visited the Elsey National Park, and had a swim at the end of the day some lovely thermal springs.
The place was popular, and we decided to head into the water a little further downstream away from the start of the springs, although we pretty soon noticed that everyone floats down this way on their noodles!
We have sent our answers to the CO for this earth cache.
It’s a beauty!

I am staying at Mataranka tonight, and wandered down to the water to find the answers for this. Answers messaged. I remember this spring before it was concreted in. I had swimming goggles and I could watch the tiny fish that inhabited the spring. I wonder if they are still there. Overhead then was a thick mesh of spider web. Very atmospheric. Not the same now. I prefer Bitter Springs (or did last trip, as I haven't seen them this time), but they were booked out, and so I am at Mataranka. Makes it easy though to log this Earth cache, so that's an advantage Smile. TFTC firesafe.

We have really enjoyed our travels this time, a great Earth Cache here.
Lots of fun exploring the area and having a well earned swim - awesome in the early morning when no-one else was around - great for photos Smile
After a great trip around half the country, up the west coast to Darwin via Kunnunura, Katherine, an amazing two weeks in Darwin, out to Jabiru and Litchfield. Down the middle to Alice Springs then on to Millicent for the Geoventure2020 (in 2021).
We then hit the road to cross the WA border before it closed due to a few cases in SA.
Now we are home with a few of the repairs finished, it is nice to have an opportunity to catch up on logging some finds that need more information as part of the logging requirements.
A huge thank you to all the COs along our travels.

My husband and i are on a 8000km road trip from Brisbane to Uluru and we detoured to Katherine and today we are on our way to Tennant Creek and we were told last night from a couple we met on a dinner cruise down the Katherine Gorge that this was a great place to visit and it sure was. we enjoyed the walk to the springs even though the bats were busy above us and then we both had a dip and then gathered the information. There were quite a few people here today and amazingly we bumped into the nice couple we met on the dinner cruise last night. Bought a few souvenirs and got back to the car to find a peacock pecking at our car which looked like it had a lot of scratches but they just wiped off. Had a great time here . Thank you for taking us here and the great earth cache

After almost 9 weeks on the road, it was time to head back home to my family in Adelaide.

On this trip I have safely travelled through four states/territories and somehow managed to avoid the everchanging and unpredictable Covid hotspots, lockdowns, quarantine and other restrictions.

I started from Adelaide at the beginning of July and travelled on my own for 3 1/2 weeks up through outback NSW into Queensland and up the coast to Cairns where I met up with FeatherWaite and another friend from Hobart. For the next 3 weeks we travelled up the tip of Cape York and Thursday Island and back to Cairns, then headed our separate ways. I then headed west across the Gulf to Roper Bar and Mataranka with a few side trips, and am now heading south again.

I have visited some some fantastic places along the way, particularly in the national parks and other remote natural areas, and I’ve seen a range of wildlife. I’ve also managed to find quite a few caches along the way!

It was great to visit the springs at Mataranka for a refreshing swim after quite a few hot and dusty days. What a beautiful area. I ended up camping nearby in the Elsey National Park. The Mataranka area was another highlight of the trip!

Thanks firesafe for an interesting earthcache.

TFTEC. We were camping in the National Park in our van with friends. We had a lovely soak in the warm pools. There were a lot of people there the day we were there in June. Felt refreshed after we had done a long walk and spotted a croc in the nearby river. I nearly got sucked in by the flow of the water down one end. I did look at treat I’m sure with my legs in the air. My friend had to rescue me. We couldn’t stop laughing.

The Rainbow Spring was our final goal when we left Humpty Doo today. After 5 hours of driving we took our head lamps for a moonlight swim at the Thermal pool. There were even other people in the middle of the night. 3 months ago we already visited the Bitter Springs, but in daylight. I don't know if we missed the really good spot, but the rainbow spring is much less attractive than expected.
After a short dive into the water and taking some pictures we left to spend the night on the 12 Mile Camp ground in the national Park.

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply driving around in the Kakadu NP.

On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Earth-Cache.

Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.

Thanks to 'firesafe' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Mataranka Thermal Spring' and for the smiley. The search for the answers here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.

Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

From october 16 to november 6 2019, my wife (lp.dk) and I visited Australia for the first time.
After a flight of more than 20 hours, we landed in Darwin. After 2 nights in the city we continued in a rented car first towards Kakadu National Park and later towards Alice Springs.
In Alice Springs we were picked up in an off-road bus and went on a 3-day trip into the wilderness, with overnight stays in a tent close to Uluru.
Back in Alice Springs we drove all the way to Adelaide, from where we flew to Sydney, where we visited our son who has settled there.
After 5 days in the city, we flew back to Singapore, which we visited for 2 days before the final flight back to Copenhagen.
In total, the trip lasted just over 3 weeks.
On the trip we would like to find / visit as many Earth caches, Virtual and Webcams as possible, but also the other kinds of caches when possible.

TFTC. Excellent spot. Interesting information about the amount of water that runs thru the system. Visiting from Brisbane.
