Out and about caching with Cheezel and WayneAPN while on a trip to the Riverland.Cache found and log stamped

05-Oct-24
The 3 Stooges are at it again. Out on the long weekend hunting caches. We wanted to head north for some high T caches that required a 4WD, but it didn't quite work out, so an alternative plan was hatched. The Riverland.Aimed for some High Terrain caches and caches that have been unloved for some time, years in fact, and with very few finders. Some were quite tricky to solve and took a bit of head scratching and a few other body parts.Plus, some others of interest along the way.Always great trips away with heaps of banter, dad jokes, tons of crap talk, but best of all, the camaraderie, and home made cake. All caches found and stamped. If some caches required maintenance, this was done. Thanks to all the COs for hiding and publishing these caches. Made for an adventurous weekendTFTC SL

The original plan was to head to the Argadells north of Port Augusta but the logistics simply didnt work out for us.So its Plan B, the Riverland So here we are, The 3 Stooges, WayneAPN (or as we call him That Numbers Guy), weredunn4 ( Mr Adventure) and myself are hitting the Riverland for some targeted high T caches, plus many many others along the way.Suffice to say, these are always great trips away with heaps of banter, dad jokes, tons of crap talk, but best of all, the camaraderieAll caches found and stamped. Any caches needing maintenance, we did our best to restore them to good health whether that be an additional log or new container. Thanks to all the COs for the caches we found this weekend, without you we dont have this game TFTC

Find # 15777Been a while since I've been out solo for a long trip. But things change over time. And I'm living the past.So with some time off work, I've jumped the border wall to chase down some long trails in South Aussie... don't know how many I'll get. But I've got quite a few downloaded. I do have a short hit list ( of 2) caches to help with a challenge. All others are just for the Adventure and countryside views. Armed with all the necessary TOTT from tweezers and magnet grab to 6m ladder and 8m fishing pole. I believe I'm prepared for all that I'll come across. (Just had to leave the Kayak at home )Day 5. After a cold night at the Maggea Oval.. I was off on another days hunting. But decided to turn things around as I started in Loxton (after getting supplies) and tackle the trail backwards from original plan. TFTC CPwanderer

Too snakey. Saw two bobbies and one snake today.
We discovered this series before we left WA Perth. So planned trip around it. Hoping we can finish before we have to head back home. Great series thank you everyone. Varied caches and good sizes great for a bush run series.

TFTC. A short break to stretch the legs, picking up a few caches every time I do this trek.

This was an interesting cache! Suddenly the road is busy when you are jumping from tree to tree, just like a cat. TFTC CPWanderer, this cache is in good condition!

Day 15 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.

Today we are on the move from Tailem Bend to Loxton. fitzy_1965, albida33 & I headed out early to get some of the Wandering Heroes before we had to leave the caravan park.

Our aim was to collect anything of interest along the way before we set up camp at Loxton. We stopped at Karoonda, Borrika & Alawoona. Signed as MAF or FAM to save room.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 16. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 10. Having mostly finished around Tailem Bend, we were traveling to Loxton today. Before we left we went out and did a bit of the Wandering Heroes trail, just so we did not get to Loxton too early. That was not really a problem, with plenty of single caches and a few interesting ones to be found along the way at Karoonda, Borrika and Alawoona. Today's group is Fitzy_195, MinnieK and albida33 and logs were signed F.A.M. or similar.

Thanks for the cache CPwanderer

31,337. Found with minniek and albida33 (signing either as FAM or MAF to save room and just for fun) during another great day of caching in South Australia).

Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 15. Today we headed out early to grab some more of the Wandering Heroes series before checking out of the camp ground and heading up to Loxton for the next part of our caching holiday. It was yet another great fun day of caching. This was the next find of the day, and a quick find once at GZ. Signed, replaced, and then we headed off to the next one on the list.

Thanks CP !!

Another cache find on our 2022 South Australian Adventure. It is a wonderful day, just perfect for geocaching.

Today it's off to visit a few more Wandering Heroes with some outstanding cache containers. We are enjoying our time travelling SA. Fantastic towns, ruins, beaches and cliffs & wine. Thanks to all the COs for taking us on this geo-guided tour.

TheCatBandits - wow, good to see you are on the trail.

This was found on part of an 8 EVENT MADNESS in 3 state trip with four-fun. We cached, we kept hydrated, labbed, swagged and we paddled. Most of all we met lots of people an made new friends.

Thanks to CPwanderer and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]

Out geocaching with friends as mystery randoms

12-Dec-21
Out on another JAMS day with allister w, mogni, sir_spectre and tallbikestan targeting the rest of the Wandering Heroes that we didn't finish last time we were out this way. We started off in Murray Bridge then stopped off at the Happy Armpit series before heading to Sandalwood where we left off previously. [^] After finishing the Wandering Heroes and some others that we went past we zig zagged back to Tailem Bend finding some random caches in random locations which all added to the fun of the day. It was pretty hot and the car air conditioner got a good workout, but that didn't stop us even though I was quite tired by the end of the day. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache CPwanderer. Smile

12-Dec-21
Today the JAMS crew was out and about to complete the Wandering Heroes series. JJ52, mogni, Sir Spectre, tallbikestan and I met at the crack of dawn on a predicted hot day. We worked great as a team to find the remaining caches of the series as well as a few caches before it and a few after it. I was mainly the driver today and I filled up the car at Murray Bridge before the first find and from then on I didn't turn the car of until we had done finding and headed back to Tailem Bend, when we got to Tailem Bend and had 4kms of fuel left which added a adrenaline rush to the day. Thanks to all the CO's and the cachers that are a reason for another find. The JAMS crew hid a JAMS cache today to add to the series.

12-Dec-21
Out with the JAMS crew for our monthly caching run. This run was with JJ52, Allister w, Mogni and sir_spectre plus Tallbikestan but minus Michells&hound. All logs today where stamped as mystery randoms. Todays target was to do the armpit series then finish the Wandering Heroes trail where we left it uncompleted at sandal wood last time and then slowly cache the back roads back to Karoonda. The wandering heroes trail was in a poorer state then last time and that is saying some thing. This time out of 104 caches on the trail including a few stray trads beside the freeway we replaced 18 caches that where found broken/cracked but surprisingly almost al the logbooks where saved and less then a hand full of logbooks on this section were full and needed replacing. It was nice to see some of the caches still themed after all this years. Also good to see a few large caches out here. A good day out even if it was 35 degrees. Some time along the Wandering Heroes i got my 15,000 find as well.

12-Dec-21
Out for a Sunday drive with the JAMS team plus one. JJ52, allisterW, mogni, sir_spectre and tallbike stan. We were targtting the last of the wandering heroes and then doing a few others along the way. Any caches that needed maintence were fixed along the way.
Thanks to CPwanderer from mogni Smile

Alice Spring to Adelaide Roadtrip
Day Six: Morgan to Adelaide.

There has been a development which means I now have less time than I originally thought, but still enough time to get six special Wandering Heroes - required for me to finish ProjectGC’s 360° From Home, with some spares for subsequent loops.

20-Nov-21
Today I headed off on my camping trip to the Riverland, just the one night away. A lot of gear to load into the car but us old birds need their creature comforts.
The plan was to ‘finish’ the WH and then continue on to Kingston for the night. I don’t think the WH will ever be finished but gave it a good crack. Also found a few other caches along the way but as always still lots to come back for.
Found 80 for the day, didn’t leave home as early as I’d hoped and had to be at camp by 6, never mind.
It was perfect weather for caching, cool and cloudy. No scary wildlife spotted. Lots of dnf today.
Thanks to all the CO for placing and maintaining caches for me to find. At this end of the trail there were lots of cachers I haven’t come across before maybe one day our paths will cross.

07-Apr-21
A plan was hatched with Rapidlywild to attack some of the caching trails down in VIC/SA. With the boarders slowly staying open we thought Easter might be a safe time to try since the QLD boarder was still too fragile to attempt going to the MEGA and it also looked like it could be rather wet there.
Our team “The Mob” consisted of GoodLook, LíB, Rapidlywild, The Drovers, feathertop and ourselves. This team ended up being very productive and some new friendships were made. Always a bonus in my book. All logs were stamped with “The Mob” to save space and time.
After completing all the trails, we had set out to do and a couple more for good measure it was time for this mob to go its separate ways.
So today we headed out with Rapidlywild to try our hand at some of the wandering hero’s caches. A lot of these caches need some TLC they are in a pretty bad way.

Thanks for the hide in this Wandering Heros series CPwanderer

07-Apr-21
For the first time in a long time, it was road trip time. With COVID-19 keeping everyone at home for so long, the borders were finally opening and the feet were itchy for a decent caching trip. Plans were made with FurfacesLL to do a 10 day road trip across to Mildura and Loxton to do a heap of caching and we were excited. Across the 10 days we racked up over 4,300km in driving, multiple hotels/motels, brought home enough red dust to create our own sand pit in the back yard and collected over 1800 finds between us. It was a massive trip and lots of fun was had.

We teamed up with GoodLook, FeatherTop, The Drovers and LiB and signed most logs as "The Mob". There were a few caches which were signed as individual team names as some teams had already completed said caches, those will be noted individually.

Our target caches were the Turtle Series, the Paddle Steamer Series and the On Ya Bike wherigo Series, heaps of other caches were also collected along the way but our primary target caches were completed which made us all very happy and very tired geocachers.

With the Turtle done, the PS Series done, the On Ya Bike done, the TdU & TdF done as well as the Riddlers done, our targeted caches has been accomplished. Today the teams all split up and went our seperate ways for the remainder of our journeys. Today myself and FurfacesLL decided to do some Wandering Heroes caches, it was a long and at times frustrating day. A number of the caches have fallen victim to the environment and are very brittle, to the point they just fall apart when touched. The entire series could really do with a major maintenance run. We ended up pulling the pin on the series and chose something different to do for the following day.

Thanks for the hides CPwanderer Big Grin And thanks to "The Mob" for a trip to remember [^].

Visiting Loxton, and picking up a few more of the Wandering Heroes series.

It's good to see some maintenance done, but still many containers are in need of maintenance or replacing. We signed the log, and replaced as found.

Many thanks for placing this cache, CPwanderer, for us and others to find.

17-Jan-21
Today our plan was to get the Adventure lab in Loxton and a few surroung caches before heading to the Wandering heroes Fishy trail. That plan soon changed once we met Locus cache as she said there is a few FTFs up for grabs so off we went.

A bunch of misfit geocachers decided to tackle the On your bike series and what ever other caches we passed, Today our team changed to the Knackered Rex for the fishy tail series or RSB for any other caches.

Left Adelaide at 4pm and arrived at our accommodation in Loxton where we are staying for 2 nights just after 7pm.

Mini Greeno's and Mr Greeno were going stir crazy after being cooped up in the house and needed to get out for a drive. Mrs Greeno suggested we do some of the Wandering Heroes caches as we hadn't headed out that way for a long time - plus it meant we could still maintain social distancing by avoiding other people and townships!
This was a quick and easy find by Mr 8. Mr Greeno actually works with Mr TheCatBandits so it was a good cache to find! Thanks for placing and maintaining CPwanderer!

Based in Loxton for a few days, gave us the perfect opportunity for a maintenance check on our Wandering Heroes cache. Of course a number of little green icons kept popping up on our map calling out for us to stop and visit as we drove the Karoonda!
Very simple, very clever - A FP from us today.

Our thanks to 'CPwanderer' for placing this cache for us to find.

Had been to Loxton for the first FTF of the month and decided that the long way home would be down the Wandering Heroes trail, trying to get the series up to date for only my second time.
One down, 9 to go.
My apology to the CO and cacher honoured for the template log, english expression was not my favourite subject.
Thanks CPwanderer for the cache and CPwanderer for the series

27-Sep-19
Travelled up to NW Victoria with feathertop to spend the next 3 days caching in the area. She proved an excellent driver and companion while I was the passenger. We tackled as many of this series as we could before arriving in Loxton to prepare for our big day tackling the On Your Bike series.
All the caches were found successfully and in good condition.
Thanks to all the cache owners and congratulations to the heroes.

27-Sep-19
This was one of about 25 finds that 6hinemoa2 and I found on this trail this afternoon. All caches in good order and thanks to all CO's for placing.

03-Sep-19
Catching up with very late logs.

We were coming back from Western Australia trying to again finish this series which we have now completed three times but it just keeps growing and growing.
There were two puzzles that we hadn't solved and one out of our terrain ability at the moment so we weren't to finish it this trip but we enjoyed visiting each of the wandering heroes.

We don't think that we have had the pleasure of meeting of meeting TheCatBandits nor have we found any of their caches

Many thanks CPwanderer for the cache and also for starting this trail.

28-Aug-19
After a very quiet night free camping on our own, our journey today continued with ilook4geo. Heading further north we picked up some caches along the way. Time to fill in a few names in the Wandering Heroes series that were not completed some time ago. Container and contents were in good nick. Thanks go to CPwanderer for placing this cache.

Travelling along with goingplaces2 and heading for more caches as we go. Picked out a few Wandering Heroes to look for. Time here for a break and a quick find as well. Log was signed, all was returned to place, job done! TFTC.

19-Jul-19
Today we formed a small team to tackle a section of the Wandering Heroes series between Loxton and Karoonda. It was an early morning start today, and the four of us, FeatherWaite, GoodLook, @gridge98, and I, agreed to stamp the caches with a 'thumbs up' emoji stamp to save room in logs and for our ease. It wasn't a bad day to tackle this series, with blue skies and the sun out allowing us to run in/out and look for caches. Some may argue it was too good of a day to be stuck inside a car for half the time. There was a bit of banter in order to take our minds off the significant number of cache finds for the day.

Several caches were replaced due to their various poor states. Some containers had barely survived the test of time, and there didn't seem to be too many damp logbooks. Several detours were also had off the main road, and the caches at these sights seemed more interesting than the randomly placed heroes caches. Some were in good shape and creative, but most seemed to be the standard Sistema container. Thanks to all who had placed and those who have helped to maintain the current containers.

Thanks for this cache, and it didn't take long to find. One of the creative hides that we found during this section, and grabbed the TB out of this one, thanks CPwanderer.

19-Jul-19
This is not a team I am familiar, but congrats on being honoured on this trail.

Today I was out with the boys to finish off what gridge98 and I had started many months ago; joining us was FeatherWaite and DavidWazza. All of the caches were stamped with an emoji thumbs up stamp to save room in logs and for our ease.

We spoke to CPWanderer before venturing out and took a supply of various sized containers with us to replace those that were cracked/broken/missing. The section from Karoonda to Loxton should be fine for some time now

It was a sunny and relatively warm day - a boost to our health and wellbeing. I packed healthy lunches and snacks for all to enjoy and caching we went. We had a great time and shared lots of laughter.

Thanks to CPwanderer! [^]

Out for the day with Davidwazza, GoodLook and featherwaite to complete the wandering heroes caches north of karoonda. All the caches are in good condition as we replaced the ones that were broken and needed replacing. All the caches were stamped with a thumbs up () stamp for convenience. Was great to chat about the different heroes along the trail as we went. Thanks to all the COs for their placements

Found with Davidwazza, GoodLook and gridge98 on a mission to tackle the Wandering Heroes Trail with each of us in various stages of 'completion'. Started at Loxton and worked back towards Karoonda replacing a few soggy log books and damaged containers along the way. Also took the opportunity to detour off the series to locate other nearby caches, resulting in a very entertaining and rewarding day's caching. Thanks for the cache CPwanderer!

Apologies for the late log. This was my final day of an epic four day caching trip to South Australia and this was the toughest day of the lot. It was 40C in the Riverland and the hot, dry and dusty conditions made it tough going. My original target of caches to find had to be toned down and aim for a more realistic number for the conditions. I kept at it till mid-afternoon and called it a day after 107 finds. Main targets were Wandering Heroes caches and a few others along the way. I was back to the main highway heading south here so stopped off for this one. A good variety of containers and hide styles and I was pleased to make a quick find to add to my list here. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache and your contribution to this series CPwanderer.

Headed towards Berri for an evening event celebrating moneydork turning 15, so took this opportunity to find any Wandering Heroes caches and a bunch of others along the way.

A perfect Spring day for a drive around more Wandering Heroes near Loxton with Tassie Trekkers.
Not many muggles around here today, and mostly good quick finds. Wink

Parked in the suggested location and made our way to GZ. Easily located a nice sized cache.
Loved the decoration.

Congratulations on your Wandering Hero status!!
