I was a bit disappointed that the final location was so far away, and I didn't really want to go there at the place I visited a few days ago, but after all the struggle and walking, I wanted to have it finished. Thank you
Probably spent 2 hours looking for waypoints... couldn't find the 3rd, moved onto the 4th, then tried the 3rd again with success. Got to the top, but I couldn't work out manageable coords, though. Maybe cos I'm used to working with s46 and e168 coords? Turns out i had one number wrong. Anyway, thanks for bringing me up here. If only I could give a fav for a dnf.
First one for the dayBack up here again with EyespyBen and KGD to finish this one off and pick up the finalThanks Gorby
We (ABCDF4 and eyespyben as well) were at the summit last week so decided to start gathering information for this one. Did what we could. Back this week to complete the task. Pleased to finally complete. Thank you for the placement.
Back here, yet again, to redo the math. Trig has gone about a month ago now I suppose, So numbers haven't changed, just how you guys get the numbers has changed, see how we go this time.
As the previous cacher has mentioned, P was missing in the questions but not in my notes! Have updated things, reworked a couple of questions as some info was gone, and cleared up other little ambiguities. All good to go!
This was our last full day in Auckland & I went out to the airport to pick up our hire car ready to begin our tour of North Island tomorrow. This also allowed me to visit some caches that had on my list but trickier to get to.I had tackled the first part of this virtual a couple of days ago on my visit to Mount Eden. Some of the plaques were trickier to find than others but the coordinates were typically very accurate. So although I failed to find a couple of the values (or reference to *P* anywhere in the tasks) the checksums meant that I got a full set of numbers & I passed the checker first time. Fortunately today, I was able to complete my quest & have already had approval to log a find from the CO. This is both a mental & physical challenge & I'm pleased to see that it fills a gap on my *Virtual* D/T grid! It is also a *mini-milestone* cache so I dipped my *10K Milestone* tag, which only visits such caches.Found at 11:50Cache #10400TFTC Gorbygorbachov
This virtual was hot on my list to do this trip as I need it for a challenge cache in the SI! The last few trips that we have been up here we just havent had the time or the weather has been against us. Today was the day and the entire time we were here rain threatened us. But we battled on and it wasnt until we made it to the top that it started to rain.it was super windy too so we quickly got our business done then retreated back to the car. This must be the most strenuous Virtual I have logged but we had such a great adventure and thought it was set up in such a clever way that Ill leave a FP. Thanks for the fun Gorby.
Stopped at this cache while visiting **New Zealand**! The top of the summit has R-E-A-L-L-Y changed! Not for the better in my opinion, anyhow, I have to make serious changes to my virtual, a work in progress....
Still closed of, I went and checked today for my virtual cache and Matt's gut buster multi. Couldn't see any sign that let\s us know of a timeline when it will be open.
Came by the summit via my e-bike. Fences are everywhere for a rebuilding of the carpark, looks like a meeting area is going to be built. I looked at the signs on the fence... March 2023 before it might re-open up here. Hopefully we could get some sort of access sooner to get the WP's to this cache.
out with agazo and alunb today, most logs signed ana,, ok we didn't have to sign this one, tftc
Out caching with nufrat and alunb today during my visit from Nelson.
Even though the cx was disabled we had the final coords. We went there, but couldn't find the cx. We called the CO who reminded us that this was a virtual, so DUH! TFTC.

Just a note for this cache.
The summit is not accessible currently as they are building the walkway. So WP 8 is not available.
I also had issues on WP 1, 3 and 4

There is building activity at the summit of Mnt Eden preventing access to the plaques. Thanks lumin for pointing this out. As soon as the work is completed, I will reactivate this cache.
FINALLY we get to attend the MEGA. Attending as part of Team BoP. We have a load of solved puzzles and whilst we are concentrating on those, won’t pass up on trads either.
This took a bit if sorting but got there in the end, answers sent. Thank you for good history lesson.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Can I just say that I hate AKL traffic? Right, now I've got that off my chest, I can add the remainder of the story. I started this about a year and a half ago on a long weekend collecting the TMGT caches, but although I had the final location sorted, I didn't have time to drop in on it as I had to catch a flight back to Wellington.
Tried for this a couple of days ago, but due to the traffic, I didn't get there until after the gates had closed. This time, I made it my first stop, and got there with 20 mins to spare. A quick dash, some bad photos in the fading light, then I hightailed it out of there to avoid being locked in! Will send the info through shortly, but I am so glad to get this off my 'pending' list. TFTC, I've certainly had to work for this one!
Updated to add - Info sent through to the CO, and approval to log granted.

Had an awesome few hours on Mount Eden collecting all the info for this virtual (definitely the longest it's taken me for a virtual so far!). WP1 was the only one I had an issue finding, but a very quick response from the CO helped to sort that one out. The view from the summit was amazing and I sat up there to figure out the coordinates and the projection. Tried something that I thought could work and yay it did so a quick confirmation using the geochecker and I had the information to send off to the CO. I'll send the required photo soon but for now have attached a few photos taken from WP9. Definite favourite point for all the work that must have gone into figuring out the waypoints, and for a really enjoyable virtual on an excellent day for it. TFTVC!
I did a check up on my virtual today due to capperz informing me a seat has gone.
Indeed the seat that had the plaque on WP3, the G answer, has indeed gone, so I have updated the G answer (same number) to another plaque. All on the cache page.
All good to go carry on with people.

When this Virtual was first listed I was still living down in Marlborough and I said to myself I would never complete that. Fast forward a few years and here I am now an Auckland resident and with plenty of choices around This was the target for today though, and am glad I did it. We parked at the cafe and headed up, around and down and gathered all of the numbers. WPG is missing, but no worries for the final. A few messages to the CO and a friend to confirm what was required, then the deed was done and pic supplied and approved- thanks Gorby.
A great idea for Virtual cache placement and another FP to push it onto 30 plus as it's so deserving.
A plan to improve todays 5 day to a better number of 10 meant we had a large range of choices. As it's been a few years since I last headed up Mt Eden, we decided to head up here and afterwards mrs c decided that Orakei Basin would be a nice loop walk to complete after out lunch out at Churly's. A good day for walking, albeit a little otter than I thought it would be.

Trip to Auckland to get one cache in particular for a challenge we are doing.
Weather a bit dodgy but we got what we came for.

With family, and meeting up with Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We left the thick, dense fog of the Waikato, and climbed the Bombays into the brilliant blue skies and sunshine of Auckland. The weather looked like it was going to hold, so we did all of our non-caching things first... And then it rained, and rained, and rained some more...
This extensive mini-tour was either going to run us out of time, or we were going to get rain-soaked. We desperately wanted to finish this one... Luckily, the weather cleared long enough for us to arrive at the final - A little unknown piece of Auckland we’d not known about... Thanks Gorbygorbachov and TFTVC.

So when me moved to level three I celebrated that by heading over to Mt. Eden to do the WPs for this cache!
Lots of fun and between this and the GutBuster multi, I now know Mt. Eden like the back of my hand!
Really enjoyed this cache.
Finally got over to the final today for the necessary photo!
Thanks for the fun active cache!

It was a long road to this find, but we'll worth it. My wife and I landed in Auckland at the end of October and spent one day in the city climbing up and down Mt Eden (many times, in conjunction with some of the other caches in the park) in preparation for our Te Araroa thru-hike. We found all the listed waypoints and necessary info, but didn't have time to make it to the final before we had to leave for Cape Reinga. Fortunately though, the TA comes back through Auckland, and we returned to finish what we had started almost 600km of walking ago. Glad we climbed mt eden when we were first in Auckland, as the summit is closed for trail construction and therefore the cache isn't possible now!
This was the most difficult (and therefore the best) virtual cache we've ever done, and there should be more like this out there. Thanks for putting together this great treasure hunt for us.

I have seen a photo of a bulldozer at WP9 at the lookout, things are afoot, will disable until I can get a clearer picture of what's going on and re-sort the WP.
Good suggestion and have gone with it. Bulk of the text now in black and much easier to read in C:Geo. Cache on people!!
Just a small request - would it be possible to change the text colour?
When you open the cache page in C:geo it displays as Red Text on a black background, which is almost impossible to read on a mobile phone in bright sun. Many thanks.

We completed the the waypoints for this on a family walk up Mt Eden six-ish weeks ago. Today, my daughters and I visited the final after dropping mummy at the airport. Thoroughly enjoyable cache - gets an FP from us. Thanks!
Found today - took awhile - you have to hike to the top now. Took photo of the view.

Had to use a app on my phone to work it out.

#596. As the owner of [Mt Eden Gut Buster Tour (GC594X1)](http://coord.info/GC594X1), I knew that there was a virtual here, because people were talking about it in the logs for my cache, but because I wasn't a premium member up until now I wasn't able to view it or see the details of what was required.
Now I have finally stumped up the money for the membership I thought I'd check this one out. Would it be presumptuous to say that this cache must at least be inspired a tiny bit by mine?
Nah actually I think it's very cool that this one is here. Because, 1. it takes you to a few points that I wanted to include on the Gut Buster Tour but I thought that 12 was already enough stages, and 2. it means I actually get to give a cache like this a go! Because I've never had to actually do my own cache from start to finish, I don't know what kind of slog people have to go through.
This one didn't actually take very long, because the WPs are all quite close together. I did get caught in some heavy rain just before WP8... however it soon passed and I continued on my way. Shortly after that I had the required information gathered in no time, and I went down the road to what used to be Cafe Sierra (when did that change???) to get an iced coffee and work out the final.
But, like other people, I struggled a bit working out the final. After overthinking it for a while, I managed to get a smiley in the geo-checker! And then after I literally LOLed at the solution, I headed to where I was supposed to go and did the needful.
That was fun... glad I finally get to log this! Very cool indeed! FP added. Thanks for the cache!

I fixed the problem at WP1 a few weeks ago, this is a belated log! Cache description stays the same.
Beautiful walk up hill yesterday with a number of interesting spots. I started at stage 6 and only realized at stage 1 that it was gone. Nevertheless I collected the other values and asked for help for A to E. After getting it (thank you) I got a problem with the coors i.e. to make something meaningful out of it. After some interesting communications (thank you again) I could figure out the final, without really understanding the logic - but ok it is one of the options one can get confirmation via the checker. Today I drove to the final and enjoyed the landmark and the surroundings.

Together with CrazyHiker68 all necessary information could be gathered (after some help of CO, since one station has changed remarkably) and this one could be solved in the end.
However, time is running and thus we have no more spare time to fulfill the final task. We’re going to do so in (when everything comes as planned) in 2020.
Anyway, thank you for showing this nice area and we’ll come back...

Two days ago Fischmac69 and I started with WP7 as we reached the park from the other side. We came to WP1 but could not find the sign. Back to the hotel we sent a message to the CO. Response and check followed very quickly. Thank you very much. The sign was no longer at site, its host has been replaced. So CO sent us the required information. Today we completed the last WPs.
To get the right coords for the projection took some time, but finally the checker was green.
Unfortunately we do not have the time to visit the final as our flight departs tomorrow, but we plan to be back in 2020 and to complete the mission then.
Thanks for showing Mount Eden and its great views. Looking forward to seeing the final location in 1,5 years...
Thanks for the cache and the quick support.

Found during hiking of Te Araroa trail! Gorgeous views Answers I will send when I will be at home.
Please do not log a find here unless you are prepared to give me the information I require..... I just deleted a log that did not meet my requirements! I hate having to do that but to be fair to everyone who have done the hard yards, this is fair!
Up for the weekend, and this one was on the priority list - we had great fun running around collecting the required information, and indeed, I have never heard of the landmark!! Thanks for the entertainment and education! TFTC!!
After completing the gut buster multi nearby how could we not complete this one as well. Collecting the WP's on this one was a lot more straight forward than the other cache and we soon had all 10 completed. We had the projection and the distance and our checksums all worked as well so with the tool provided we soon had the green tick of success. We left this one till today to collect as we were in the area. A favorite point from us. Details and picture to follow.
Had a cheeky Auckland Mission on the cards this weekend - just had to drop the family off in Pukekohe first and then meet up with Davidsonclan. We had a few caches on the list today but mainly this was just a numbers mission. A late start meant we'd be late to finish but 3am isn't too bad. There were some great finds and some grotty finds but thank you to the CO's and those that help maintain their caches. This virtual was certainly on the must get list in spite of the time it would suck up. I'd been cursing your name a bit Groby as this was hands down the most involved virtual I've done but surprisingly we had no issues with the waypoints. Davidsonclan whipped up the projection and off we went. Naturally I had no idea this landmark existed - but we took a few picture while the kids ran around then it was onto the next cache. Cheers Gorby and congrats on your *Virtual Reward*.

In Auckland with three of the kids and Philip.perry for a 24 hr mission we knew this was going to be a mission so this was the second cache for the day because it was on our must do list and we needed to get this before nightfall. Once all the info was gathered we did our projections then made our way to GZ to get photos and answer to question to send CO .
After a greyhound owners event this morning we dropped the hound off at home and headed back out again to meet Bennett24 at the first waypoint for this virtual. Arrived to find that they had already collected the first couple of pieces of information and from there we headed off to get the rest. Being winter that meant very few muggles, or at least fewer than there'd normally be which helped matters. Doubled this up with visiting some of the way points for the Gut Buster Challenge as they were in the vicinity too.
Actually had a pretty successful go at collecting all of the information and luckily enough didn't have too much trouble with any of the information with the last being the trickiest but spotted after a bit of a circle about. Then sat down together to work out the final. Not too bad and had a laugh when I got the tick on the geochecker as we had walked right past it this morning. Oh well, back again and completed the formalities which have been sent to Gorby.
A very nice afternoon out for the team, lots of chatting and laughing and a hot chocolate to finish. Thanks Gorby, a very nice addition to the virtual suite and nice to get one that is quite different and a bigger challenge.

Set off with Team Tuolei today to get this virtual and start on the Gut Buster cache (unfortunately only had limited time so could not complete). We really enjoyed our time going up and down Mount Eden together and made good progress with a few laughs along the way. This one was quite straightforward until the end where we sat down on the top of the hill, Grant as always did a superb job of figuring out the final and we were on our way after a couple more stages of the gut buster.
A couple of helpful muggles took a few team photos at the final before we went and grab a well earn hot drink close by. Answer and photo has been sent to the CO. Thanks for a great cache.

Took about an hour to get all the numbers, but figuring out the coordinates took some help from the CO. Certainly the most work for a virtual I’ve ever done. TFTV
With rebel98 and little rebel exploring Mt Eden, gathering the required information to calculate the "final" location before I have to go to work
We started yesterday, climbing the mountain, and as we were walking down the road back to our car, the rain came. It poured down, so here we stood, no coats or umbrellas, sheltering under a tree, hoping it would pass quickly. Luckily we didn't have to wait to long, and we race to the car for home.
Before I leave, I have the distance and degrees, but the co-ords? hmm, I need to sit down and have a think about what to do with the these numbers. But no time for that, I have to go!
Whilst I was away, rebel had to time to play, and had a boys talk with the CO (using the answers from todays adventures) and was able to confirm what we needed to do
So today, again work is getting in the way, with limited time we make our way to....here, somewhere, anywhere to take the required photo to send to the CO (and like some of the previous cachers, I have been here before, I think for a traditional, looks like its been archived?)
Congratulations gorby on your vitural hide.
We have had a lot of fun gathering the required information, and the cake was yum

There are only a few people that can get me to walk up a mountain and I guess this co must be one of them. Got the required information and then thought what am I ment to do now looks like a little sneaky plan is in place by this co. Worked though some ideas but nothing made sense so had to make a call for a idea and then things fell into place thanks for the virtual and the tricks along the way tftc a favorite from me.
We have been meaning to do the waypoints for this virtual for some time, so when Tufty suggested a joint excursion to Mt Eden, we readily agreed. We had no difficulties with gathering the information from the waypoints, and managed the ascent without too much huffing and puffing. But then came the question of what to do next. We knew we had all the information we needed, but after trying any number of ideas, some obvious and some obscure, we were at a loss. Tufty made the call for help to the CO. . . Hm, guess we should have checked that - probably more obvious from home.
With the projection done and the Final location geo-checked, off we went for the photo finish. We have visited this location before (think there was a cache here?), and we soon had the formalities completed. Thanks Gorby for an interesting and different virtual (haven't done one with waypoints before), and Tufty for your company today.

Kiwicouple and I decided to have a try at visiting all the waypoints this morning to gather all the information required to get to the final location. Some of the tracks we took required a bit of a huff and puff and others were nice a easy, especially the downhill ones[:o)].
Once we had all the info we sat on Wilfrid's seat and pondered on what we were to do next. Was it that itiration or was it derived from that? None of what we thought of would give the necessary coords to do the projection. I then swallowed my pride an rang the CO for a nudge. Ah! so that's what you do. We didn't think of that one fully.
Everything then fell into place. Thanks, mate.
We soon at the final doing the essential final bits.
Cheers for the cache.

As it was the school holidays I took the kids for a wander around Mt Eden to find all the info needed at the Waypoints for this virtual. They had a lot of fun clambering around the mountain and we finally got to WP10. It took a bit of time to get the required info there as it was very busy.... now to sit down and project the final. Hmmm this doesn't make sense.... have I done something wrong I was very confused. But then I had an idea.... the CO couldn't be that sly could he I've met him a few times and it's quite possible.... Sure enough my hunch was right and I got the green tick On the way back down I grabbed a few more of the waypoints needed for the gut buster multi but will need to come back to complete that one. For now I was concentrating on getting to the final of the virtual which was a short journey away and somewhere I've actually already been... funnily enough I think I previously came across it picking up some other caches Thanks for the scramble around Mt Eden Gorby... certainly got my exercise for the day
We finally knocked the bastard off! Because of time restraints it took a couple of trips to collect the required information at all the waypoints so I'm not sure why the less than an hour and less than 1km walking attributes are there as it certainly took us a lot longer and I know we walked a lot further than 1km! Anyway once Pazzabella and I had all the information gathered we sought shelter from a very cold and strong southerly wind and tried to do our projection. The co-ords to project from didn't make sense and as the summit was starting to be more crowded than Piccadilly Circus and Tianamen Square combined we resorted to the PAF option like many others. Ok, so that's what we project from. After completing the calculations and getting the green tick I was surprised to see we needed to drive 15 minutes across town to complete the formalities. Well, we got there in the end and enlisted the geohounds to sit in for us on the photo which has been sent to the CO.
Well this had been a journey in the making for some time as for the past few weeks a group of us were working on puzzles in the area for a 24 hour mission (travel time included) to see what we could reasonably grab.
All caches were signed "HOAC" so as to save space in the logbook. So together with HKCB, 11HPG, kiwis69 & Alpenmilch83 we left Hamilton at 6.pm with the aim to do as many as possible before sleeping in the car, grabbing breakfast and continuing on. Plenty of laughs were had and stories told. Thanks to all the CO's for their efforts in keeping these going and taking the time and effort to place and maintain these caches.
Answers submitted to the CO.
Our final task of the quick dash north was to run around a hill and collect the required information for the virtual. By the end of it we were buggered as had only had 1.5 hours sleep in over 36 hours so was pleased to get to the final thats for sure. Thanks for the trip and we enjoyed it.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

Merlot58 and I collected the 'relevant' information needed for this over the course of 2 visits, due to time constraints. Collecting the info involved some enjoyable rambling to some interesting locations and seemed straight forward and easy enough. However, as the data was collected I became increasingly concerned as to what I was to do with these 'Co-ordinates?'
When we’d got all the info, we sat down near waypoint 10, which was more like Tiananmen Square than Piccadilly Station, but just as busy as the two put together. The strong winds that blew past got too much as we tried to figure out what ‘coords’ to do a projection from ( also one geohound had also rolled in something [xx(] and sat upwind from us) so we moved to sheltered ground and did as most of the ‘finders’ logged did….. PAF! Not sure what to do with the paper that has our workings out for waypoints 1-8, but if I ever get caught short on a walk in the bush….
We duly projected our workings out from the 'advised' co-ords and drove off to a completely new location. A beautiful spot to complete our mission. Thanks, Gorby for all your hard work!!!

On another HOAC mission, this time with Cats&Dragons, Kiwis69, 11HPG11, and Alpenmilch80. The mission a 24 hour blitz on Whangarei puzzles, plus a certain multi to complete C&D's 5th loop around the D/T grid. Leaving Hamilton at 6pm, with a quick stop in Auckland to pick up A80, we were in Whangarei caching just after 10pm.
During the moonlight hours the plan was to focus on the puzzles around Onerahi, and the Pokemon series, while during thhe daylight the plan was to focus on thegreatauk puzzles plus a few others we had solved. The mission turned out to be fairly successful considering the level on difficultly of most of the hides we were targeting. The logs were signed as HOAC to save room on the logs, a big thanks must go out to all the CO's for their hides.
On the way home from a 24hour nearly non-stop caching mission we thought it'd be a great idea to finish on a high and a trek up a hill. After running around gathering the info we headed over to the final spot. Answers have been submitted to the CO by C&D. Thanks for the virtual.

A trip to Whangarei for the night to collect a few caches is totally normal right? 2 hours sleep is also normal? Our group tonight consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB, Kiwis69, Alpenmilch80 and myself. We left Hamilton at 6pm on Friday and we were home by 6.30pm on Saturday. Some great caches were found and some laughs were had and a lot of sugar and caffeine consumed. A lot of planning and puzzle solving had gone into the prep work so we had a good plan of what caches to attack. Logs were signed as HOAC to save room
After a huge 24hrs caching we decided to grab another virtual on the way home. Enjoyed seeing some sights while visiting the various waypoints, although I was a little slow on the math work from lack of sleep. A different spot to what I was expecting for the final but a neat spot to visit that I had not noticed before. Thanks for the Virtual

Found on the southbound homeward journey of our 24-hr Whangarei caching mission. After a few weeks' planning and a lot of nights scratching our heads over tricky puzzles, we set off north on Friday evening with our caching wish-list. Our main targets were puzzles, night caches and less common DT ratings with a spot of tree climbing thrown in for good measure. Great trip: really enjoyed exploring new areas, lots of laughs as always and good to find a few caches before we headed back home on Saturday afternoon (although a bit more sleep would've been nice!)
Somehow, in our sleep-deprived state, breaking up the journey home and stretching our legs with a mini-adventure stopover in Auckland suddenly seemed like a great idea. Actually, anything to get out of the motorway traffic for a while was definitely a good idea! Had a lot of fun and really enjoyed exploring an area I'm not familiar with in great company today. A great cache to finish the day. Required info and pics submitted to the CO by C&D. Thanks for the cool virtual and congrats on being selected for the placement, TFTC

In February we spent a nice afternoon walking around Mt Eden collecting all the required info for solving this puzzle. Enjoyed being taken to hidden spots that we were not aware of as well as the views from the summit. Later that evening we set about finding out where we b needin to go. Soon had a likely looking solution but then completely confused ourselves when trying to enter co-ordinates into the geo-checker. Too much sun and not enough beers I thinks. Anyway the CO set us straight.
As we were getting close to a milestone we decided to leave the final part of this 'unique' virtual cache until the big day and what do you know... today is that day!
Wahoo!!! 3000 geocaches found - The plan was to get a group selfie celebrating this achievement for posterity's sake. Unfortunately once at gz Kiwiscot disappeared up a tree, the lovely Scotty was not feeling too photogenic and who really wants to be emailed a photo of Kiwi's mug. So my friend Gorby, a photo of our GPS at gz will be sent your way. Enjoy.
Favorite point given. TFTVirtual cache

VikingNav and I had a great time doing this new virtual! It took us two separate visits spanning a week apart to complete it, but we are happy to have done It! I have sent our answer to your question via GC.com message. Thanks for the amazing virtual! >^..^
This took a while to complete. We stopped by on the way to Hamilton for a few days. After an hour or so getting all the information from the multitude of way points, we were on our way. That night in Hamilton, with wifi and internet connection, we got the geochecker to give us a green light. Today we were back in Auckland so we finished up the virtual. Thanks for the great new virtual.
Decided to tackle this mountainous cache today as we enjoy walking, so only too happy to incorporate a walk with a cache.
The WPs took us to a few new corners of the park that we hadnt been to before which was great. AV2 was very happy at WP4 because she used to work the person on the plaque. Has great memories.
Got to the end of all the WPs, and for once in our lifetime all the numbers totted up. Felt very happy about that, but then spent the next 30minutes trying to figure out what to do with all the info. Perhaps we had oxygen deprivation while sitting at the summit trying this idea or that??
In the end had to get a nudge to get us back on track. Got the green tick and made our way to GZ to complete the requirements.
CO approved the info sent, so very happy to be able to tick this Virtual off.

Out and about enjoying my first caching session of the new year. I found myself in this general area and decided it was time to give this one the old collage try. I parked up in one of the car parks and started midway, waypoint wise. Headed down, before heading back up. No great drama at any of the waypoints; the questions were all rather clear. I think the CO did well to find some of these points of interest. Anyway, eventually, made my way to the summit, though faster than I anticipated. With all the details collected I head back down towards my car. I sat up in the shade and performed the required tasks. Plotted the final spot on my GPSr and immediately knew where to complete the final task. Fired a message off to the CO and received permission to log. I was not intending to do this much walking today, but it was good to stretch the legs, so to speak. Favourite point applied. Cheers for the exercise and for the virtual cache placement!
What an amazing multi-mystery-Virtual cache. I set my sights upon this one since Virtuals are (still) incredibly rare in this neck of the woods, and so, I made a trip to hike up Mount Eden late this morning. The park was crowded on this fine New Year’s Eve, and the hike up was pleasant, though I did end up perspiring a little from the exertion. It’s my second time on the hill, and I am glad I had the opportunity to see some of the hidden secrets of the hill.
Some of the waypoints were a little tricky considering how small some of the details are, but the coordinates were very accurate, so the searches didn’t last long. Got to the summit with all the numbers and was left scratching my head. What’s going on here?
Well, I had other matters to attend to and my parents were getting hungry, so I asked for a nudge for the CO to set my path straight again. The response came after lunch, and after looking at the calculations again, I arrived at a decent set of final coordinates which brought me to another “secret” place in a familiar locale.
Set my sights on this one in the evening as we were passing by the general area. Took the photo as proof and sent off my answers.
Excellent Virtual all round and strongly deserving of an FP. A good D4 to add to the collection, too. Thanks for the cache and keep up the good work! I haven’t had the chance to visit your caches in West Auckland, but I heard they are great, too. TFTC!

My coast to coast walk took me to Mt. Eden yesterday and visited a few waypoints along the way. Once it was started, I couldn't let go and made a second excursion to the area today. D4 indeed... I had to return to lodge for wifi connection and some brainwork was needed, too. First coordinates presented to checker hit jackpot Luckily I had bought all-day-ticket this morning. It truly paid off Laborious but also pleasant and rewarding virtual cache. Nice work Gorby [^]
It took me more than 1h to complete all the stages. Stage number 9 was very busy and occupated by many tourists taking pictures from the platform. Similar story at the very end to get all needed numbers. I had to wait a bit to collect all data. This is not virtual for turist in rush. You need some time here. When all informations were collected I`ve went home and had some time to figure out what is what. And then got stuck. I don`t have much experience with this types of hides so it was new for me. Little help from CO was appreciated. Solved and got green light at the checkpoint. Few days after I had opportunity to visit final stage of this virtual so I did. Thank you for this virtual hide. FP awarded.
What a great cache in the end! I was visiting Auckland and thought I'd never have time to tackle this one- however my work colleague was happy to be dragged along as we tackled all of the hillside of Mt Eden. Last time I was here I'm sure I drove to the top! Managed to get all the info but just couldn't sort the checker out. Eventually with a prod I was able to plug in all my details and voila! - final location was nabbed. Info sent off to the cache owner and a find can be claimed! TFTC!
Visited Mt Eden on our last afternoon in New Zealand via the Hop On & Off shuttle bus but didn't have details of this cache with me and didn't have internet access on the day so there is NO WAY I can possibly log this new Virtual and no way it can get a favourite point from me!
Far too complex for a passing tourist whose wife hates geocaching and who only had 30 minutes on site, because otherwise we'd miss the last bus and therefore our flights home!

Today was my 60th birthday and also the day I got to 2000 finds. urbangypsynz suggested we do this new Virtual to celebrate both and so off we went with supernanny after work tonite to tramp all over Mt Eden. Great exercise taking us to parts of the area I have never been to before and eventually to an awesome location for the final ... and we got there just before the gates were due to close. Have sent the obligatory foto to the CO. TFTC Gorby and giving this a deserved FP. And this is only my second virtual.
Fantastic Dave!! Well done on getting to 60! Heh, heh heh, I also mean getting 2000 caches on your 60th birthday and on my Virtual! I'm loving the fact that people are using this Virtual to get their milestones.... keep it up people and thank you for visiting!!
What better way to double celebrate Jard's two milestones, turning 2000 and grabbing 60 caches? oops I may have got that a bit wrong. Beautiful evening despite the threatening rain, I never knew there were so many plaques and tracks and oh yeah steps. Enjoyed a nice trek with Jard and Supernannny. Thanks for a great multi and the effort you put into it. IOU a FP
Had a great time tonight helping celebrate Jard's two milestones....
A great age ...and a goodly number of cache finds !
I wish him many more of both !
Thanks Gorby for this great virtual of yours ...which had us tramping and climbing up down and around...and then doing the calculations ...It didn't actually take as long as we expected ....and we finished just before dark ....and didn't get locked out of anywhere !
Great to have this one done.....

My 5000.
My 4000. I did with my friend in my hometown in Switzerland. This one I made by myself, 16000 km away from home and with help of the owner.
The walk around the park was very nice. At the crater suddenly it began to wind, rsin and everything. That was not really funny to collect the answers. Mhh, after all WP I was a little bit confused. Because I had no wifi on my phone I had to find wifi for checking my coords. After a big walk I found a petrol station where I contacted the Owner. Luckily He answered immediately. With his help I could make the checker to green...
The last step was done today as well.
Thanks for the cache and the help says

I had actually completed this multi with Pagenz but really wanted to use it as our milestone cache which the owner kindly agreed to. Had a great afternoon wandering around the wp's trying to get Mandy to recover from her jet lag and no problems with any of the info. Head slap moment when we figured out what to do with the info for the final co-ords and then it was off to the final location for the obligatory photo which has been sent to the CO and accepted as the virtual being completed. Fav point from us. Thanks for the adventures
Well done pagenz on your 10,000th cache, thanks for it being on my virtual!!!
Had a terrific afternoon with sister Team Welsh hunting out the wqaypoints and making the final projection. A wee discussion at the final as to the meaning of the landmark - but all good. (CO permission to log). Tracey has the photo.
Having met the CO at a local meet, this virtual was mentioned but we didn't know whether we'd have time before we flew home today.
We started in the rain and collected all the way points, at the top there was no view in the clouds, so we sat down to do the calculations. These had us puzzled for a while and when we lifted our heads again, Auckland was spread out below us. A quick message to the CO to clear up a point and the cache was 'found'.
Thank you for setting up this rare virtual.

Well this was fun.... Teamed up with alpenmilch80 to try our luck here and was soon underway collecting the required information and gaining elevation at a reasonably relaxed rate.
HEAPS of people at the top to contend with even though the weather wasn't great, but we found a quiet space to work on our calculations away from everyone else.
Took a little bit of deciphering to figure out what to do (I blame the cold air up there) but we eventually twigged as to what was required and arranged to meet up for the photo opp later on in the week with liketips and our was photo sent and confirmation received.
Good fun doing this and it'll get a favourite from me - well done on your recognition Gorby, well deserved and look forward to your next creation TFTC

Enjoying another rainy day from my dry and warm home playing with the idea to go after the new virtual, if there is some improvement outside. Evilno9 was keen too and the Norwegian (yr.no) weather forecast predicted some windy sun around late afternoon which sounded way better as the rainy forecast of metservice.
Glad the Norwegian had it correct again! We all met up at the parking lot to start walking without even locking at the WPs. Guess we are too eager to stretch those legs . Had to turn around and started on the first WP. The collecting was easy going and provided some new parts of the park to discover. We ended up at the last WP on the very windy summit. Started calculating the results and warmed up when the sun showed herself. In the end, we didn’t find the proper solution to the D4 twist and we called it a day.
The twist got me fooled, but with some open mind evilno9 made the right calculations. Now it was just a matter of time to get out there for a nice picture. After some work close by (me) and sports (the boys) we met once again to ensemble ourselves for the photo.... Interesting spot!
Awesome multi, puzzle virtual, which presented some undiscovered places in Auckland to discover. Thank you Mister Gorbygorbachov, and keep it up with your awesome and inventive hides. You deserved this honour!!! TFTVC

FTF with Aiden29 . {FTF}
When the notification came out for this we were doing some caches in Orakei. Got a call from Aiden29 and agreed to meet up to try and solve this Virtual together. We had been anticipating its release after we had learned that Gorby was one of the lucky 4000 recipients of Virtual Caches this year for hiding.
By the time we left Orakei we decided we did not have ti me for our ice cream so went straight to the WP1 carpark.
Started gathering info and met up with Aiden29.
We quickly worked our way around all of the Waypoints observing the faces we saw at the many points of interest. Some of them were not so likely points of interest which begged why people were there. But no faces were recognized as other cachers.
Having found all the information we sat down to work out all the values. The coords didn't look right, so after trying a few things we finally figured out what we were dealing with. The angle of projection worked and we had an idea on the basis of the angle what the distance should be close to, but we couldn't get the metres for projection to work out with the checksum. We repeatedly checked our numbers, calculations, and all the points on the map with no luck. Finally, we made a call to the CO and we realised that there was one error in the numbers which has now been corrected. Knowing now what was wrong we got eh right numbers and the green tick. With the latest information we we worked out where we needed to go and headed back to the cars, happy to be off this open and exposed space which had turned windy and cold. We convoyed to the final location and had our picture taken, much to the amusement of some muggles sitting nearby.
Thanks Gorby for the virtual. It was a challenge and we appreciate the work and effort that went into creating it.

When the notification came out for this I was just taking a break from studying. There were a few new caches that were published in Riverhead at the same time. I tossed up the possibility of others beating me to Mt Eden, so instead I headed for Riverhead. I managed to score 3 FTFs up there and seeing that no one else had logged anything yet I took a gamble and started for Mt Eden. I contacted the Jags to say I was going for this virtual, and they said they were just getting ice cream at Giapo. So I invited them to join me after getting their ice cream.
We finally met up and headed around to locate the necessary information from the WPs, racing around and keeping an eye out for any possible geocachers, familiar or not, who might beat us to log their find. Finally having found all the information we took a seat at the summit to work out all the values. The coords didn't look right, so after trying a few things we finally figured out the twist. We had no issue with the angle of projection, but we couldn't get the metres for projection to work out with the checksum and we ended up with a decimal place. We quadruple checked our numbers, calculations, and all the points on the map with no luck. Finally, we sent an SOS out to the CO and we realised that there was one error in the numbers for Wiri (which the CO has now corrected). This slight correction finally worked out with the checksum. We made our projection and got the green tick! Yay, we worked out where we needed to go and headed back to the cars, happy to finally get out of the cold wind that had picked up. We convoyed to the final location and had our picture taken, much to the amusement of some muggles sitting nearby.
Thanks Gorby for the great virtual. Nice that you got recognition for all your fantastic caches. Congrats.
This just so happened to be a FTF for me along with Jag50 and my 2000th cache. Never did I think I would ever get an FTF on a virtual, so this was a nice bonus for a special number!
