With the St Arnaud Mega, just days away, it is hard to realise it is a year since we had so much fun around Parkville.
The immediate challenge for us today was to write our name in the log book of caches such as this, before their impending retirement from the gameboard.

[Phetlern](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Phetlern) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7G05W/33243 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.

A list of our 50 qualifying caches can be found on Project-GC.

Thanks 'sharkiefan' for adding these challenge caches to the gameboard.

When the rest of the household decided to stay at home and watch animae today, I decided to ride over to this part of the world to grab some caches. It was a lovely day - I covered about 40km all up, saw some great scenery and found some excellent caches. And stopped at the Studley Park Boathouse for coffee and scones too!

MeAndDe has used Project-GC Challenge Checker to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.
You have found 636 caches of type "Takes less than 1 hour"

Thanks

Since the the Parkville Mega caches were published last year I've been on these trails many times, covering well over 100km in their pursuit. First the crazy FTF chases when the puzzles and challenges were gradually released, followed by a few more considered loops. Last year I was out here doing the bulk of the geoart with The Easter Bunnies, and this year there was a solo winter trip followed by a massive team effort last week with Jacko, Tritonz and Anikano trying to visit (revisiting, mostly) all 120 caches in one day. With the axe finally falling on the Parkville Mega caches there was time to do just one more cleanup round today to avenge any previous DNFs and clarify any uncertainties in my records (since I am over a year behind in my logging Surprised).
The final tally is 115 finds with seemingly no DNFs due to my searching skills (1 archived, 1 skipped accidentally, 1 GZ structure gone, and 2 DNFs which are now reported as missing by previous finders). There was also 1 challenge cache which I found but do not qualify for (a 200-day streak - the only challenge in the series which I do not qualify for and probably never will as streaks are a pursuit I am not keen to ever do).
Thanks to all the COs who put in the effort creating, placing and maintaining these caches.

GPSr was pointing 13m away from where the cache was found but the hint led straight to GZ anyway.

Started out early this morning with Bunadoorian to pick up a few caches around the area -before running around after a few things and then ending up at Chelsea for lunch. This was my fourth cache for today. Again found easily with the help of the hint. TFTC and all the challenge caches set for the Parkville Event - sharkiefan.

With the Parkville caches close to their expiration date a small team was put together to tackle the hides as our hometown celebrated a public holiday for the Geelong Cup. Our bikes were taken off the racks, helmets put on, sunscreen applied and we were off on this very warm day, riding our way through Melbourne and this series. Lots of laughs were had with ThePacman, anikano and Jacko83 as each cache was searched for, found and signed.

Hatzofff and I are on our final day of caching around Melbourne before we fly back to Queensland tomorrow. Our goal today is to complete the Parkville Challenge Series as there are now 38 remaining of the original 41.

I have used the Project-GC Checker on each Challenge, and I qualify for all of them except #01 - attend 5 Megas, as at this time I have attended only four.

Love caches that take less than an hour. Not disappointed here, then.

Log signed and cache replaced as found at 9.16 AM on 25th August 2019. TFTC, sharkiefan.

I have a day off and it's SUNNY (and a little bit warm), what a great combination! And to celebrate, I'm going caching this afternoon Smile, but only for those old Parkville Mega geocaches, time to knock a few more off before they get archived Sad.

We spent the better part of three weeks travelling, seeing the sights, visiting with friends, and caching the best Australia had to offer!
Where ink was required, we signed the log as "221B".
Where Challenges requirements are needed - I've verified my eligibility on Project-GC.
All the best to those who place and maintain caches for others to find (without you, there is no game to play)!
Cheers! Smile

Found today with Team 221B️ (DaxVolks, Library Ladies, Roogles!, and The Jackaroo) caching our way around Australia. Sorry for the late log...our technology let us down and then things got busy with a milestone birthday party when we got home!! We enjoyed meeting you at the Oz GeoMuster. Thank you for a fun series of caches.

There was someone waiting at the bus shelter here, but luckily for me their bus arrived just as I got out of the car! I didn't find it right away. Thanks sharkiefan

The woes of TeamUs! and the simple act of carrying a pen continue. I searched high and low for this cache and eventually found the sucker after I let my geosenses do the walking. I sighed as I realised that I did not have a pen! Why does this keep happening?!?!?!?!? I contemplated writing with some mud or similar and then ruled it out as just plain silly. (Just to be clear I always contemplate this when I forget my writing implement, but I never actually carry it out - what a mess it would make!)
Without a pen I would just have to photograph the log book and cache and hope for the best. I did this, grabbed the trackable that was in there, and returned the container. I carefully negotiated the pram and baby backwards down the slope and turned around to see my car. Surely there'll be a pen in there! So dodging the buses I raced to the car and turned the thing upside down in my pursuit of a pen. I came up with only a coloured pencil with a broken tip for all my efforts. But then I spied some scissors. Sewing scissors. Nice, cute sewing scissors which should not be used to hack at coloured pencils... but they did and it worked. Jubilant I dodged more buses and returned to the cache. I opened the log book and put pencil to paper. Only to find it is an absolutely rubbish pencil (well I did find it in a car park at a roadhouse on the Hume Highway) and it leaves only the faintest of marks. I signed that log anyway and returned home for the day. Successful - kind of. I hope the next finder can read my markings and not write over it!

Having had a few days out of Melbourne along the "Great Ocean Road" it was back to the city to make the most of the last few days, and for Mrs Dragon just that one extra shopping experience.
We love the vibrancy of Melbourne and Victoria in general and as such trips back here are not infrequent.

Today was the day Mrs Dragon said that I could go off and play as she intended to get in some serious retail therepy. So not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth I hired an electric bike from down near the Yarra and headed out to collect a few along the Parkville Loop. Making the most of the Bike trail and the caches along here, thanks for the placement

thanks to all the CO's for the effort put in to keep these caches going

#6796. I was over in Melbourne for a few days attending a workshop and decided to stay on over the weekend to pick up a few more geocaches. I was staying at a motel on Mount Alexander Rd so this cache wasn't too far away. This was the last of the Parkville challenges today. Took a minute or two to figure out where this one was hidden. Flew down to Melbourne on Sunday and what a beautiful day. I was hoping to grab as many of these challenge caches as I could before sunset with the view of seeing if I qualify once I get back home.
I have left something in most of the caches I visited as I know my kids love a swap.
Starting to get dark but a quick find. I didn’t realise how far east I had travelled as I drove down streets that friends lived in from my old Melb uni days.

Today was my last in Victoria before catching the ferry to Tasmania to visit family and friends for a couple of weeks.

Most of the day was spent finding caches in as many of the LGAs in and around Melbourne as I could. I mainly focussed on puzzles and challenge caches, but also grabbed a few traditionals, multis and a letterbox where I could or It worked better.

This was one of a number of challenge caches that I identified as possible targets for this trip. This is one I easily meet the requirements for.

Thanks sharkiefan for the challenge and the cache.

We do so love a Challenge cache and so passing through Melbourne today we made a point of seeking out Challenge caches, this being one of them. The cache was soon found once at Ground Zero and log book signed. We also qualify for this Found It having found 4,238 caches with the Under an Hour Attribute. Thanks so much for the cache and for the Challenge and greetings from Zimbabwe

When I first saw this one on the map, I thought the challenge was to log 50 caches in under an hour, haha! So, in comparison, the actual challenge didn’t seem so hard... tftc!

Yeeeha, challenge! We were a bit short on time today so we read the hint right away. That resulted in "the cache should be somewhere there" (pointing left) "but the hint sounds like it should be there" (pointing right). Right we went and right we were.

Here my challenge results:

This was next on today's journey before 'swapping sides'. I had some muggles having a chat near GZ and some dogs parking across that way that brought on the 'nosie-neighbour' syndrome but some stealth had me with the stash in hand at 15:55. Strangely, Upoj didn't want to play ball here and when I finally found the cache, it was indicating that I was about 11 m away from GZ. Surprised

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks sharkiefan.

The weather when I left my Hotel in Collins St at 5am this morning was quite pleasant. When I got off the train at Rushall there were ominous signs of rain in the air. It wasn’t long and sure enough it was raining. I took refuge in a bus shelter and had a brief discussion with myself as to whether I’d continue on with my plans to walk the Merri Creek Trail or do a bunk. The decision was to carry on, dang it I’d come to cache and cache I would. My raincoat did a good job of keeping my upper half dry but my shorts and shoes got pretty wet. The weather didn’t curb my enthusiasm, I enjoyed the walk and found all but two of the caches I looked for. Cheers and TFTC

I found Parkville Challenge 32-50x under an hour attribute on my way to the opening of the new Ronald McDonald House in Fitzroy Nth.

When I first saw this cache, I thought I had to find 50 caches in under an hour and that the d/t rating was therefor a bit low. When I read it with both eyes open, it made more sense.

According to Project GC - You have found 3694 caches of type "Takes less than 1 hour"

A quick find was made at GZ after I let all the health freaks and dog walkers pass me by

What a huge time in Victoria - the Parkville Mega was on! Smile My week was filled with a couple of appointments and loads of caching with friends. Some of the buddies I've found little boxes and hung around with on this trip include: Wozzle68, ChooknChunk, AnyMules, Brisal5, SA Sewer Rats, Bushfire, Suscoe, Feathertop, Freddo, gridge98, Davidwazza, .K.B. and a number of others. My mark in the logs vary, from my initial/s, team acronyms, "Fabulous Randoms" stamp and my own stamp.

This weekend also saw me reach my 10,000th find milestone, not bad in less than 3 years.

Thank you to the cache owners for contributing so much to this game Big Grin

The Bromance of Crookedpete, Swellerfungus and Seffnjarah were off to Melbourne for a long weekend road trip from Brisbane, with the main aim of attending the Parkville Mega as well as collecting a number of caches on our rather lengthy hit list. The extensive number of challenge caches in town was a particular focus of our attentions for the weekend. After checking into our digs for the night we headed back out to focus on the Parkville Challenges with the aim to collect as many as possible tonight before cleaning up any stragglers on our final day in town. Cache located on this one and logbook signed. TFTC

Completion of the qualifying criteria is as follows (as per the challenge checker):

[seffnjarah](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=seffnjarah) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7G05W/33243 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.

The final day of the Melbourne Parkville Mega event with the Godfather Freddo and gridge98, and it was a day of high terrain adventure caches, driving around collecting the Handbag series, and then riding around some more of the various river and rail bike trails collecting the Parkville caches.

A last cycle ride collecting a patch of Parkville caches on a nice lazy yet sunny Sunday afternoon. Thanks to the preparation and management of this cache, cheers.

I used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7G05W/33243 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to confirm that I qualified for this challenge. I found 703 caches of type "Takes less than 1 hour", and some of my qualifying caches:

After visiting family in SA i decided i would pop over to Melbourne for the MEGA event. I had an ebike for 5 days and did so much sightseeing in between looking for caches. I have been trying to log cache finds ever since. I ran the checker and i qualify. This was a quick easy find on one of the many enjoyable days at the mega. Thanks for the cache sharkiefan.

Out this way with Happy pants, omegaman1971 and Di Morgan. The main objective today was to do the handbag series after doing all the puzzles. Took the opportunity to also grab anything else we came across, along the way. We saw a number of other teams and visited some nice little park areas, while completing the series. We had no DNF's and made some good discoveries and clever hides during the day. The logs where signed HHO, while we had some fun and laughs along the way.

I have used Project GC to check if I qualified and I have found 3822 caches of type "Takes less than 1 hour"

Thanks sharkiefan for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Day 7 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne.
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire once in Melbourne. So to save space in the logs we usually just wrote our initials BABS to save space. Cool
Today we set out and found the Handbag series in the morning. Razz
That done we started the Merri Creek Trail and any others in the vicinity. [^]

A quick find using the hint. Smile

Joined up with Aussie M & M and Team Astro to tackle this series. Logged as ATM. This is what we are targetting for our long weekend here and only grabbing other caches with they cross our path.
Thanks to those that put these out and to those who are maintaining them.

Apologies for the generic log below:

Away for the weekend with Freddo and Davidwazza to the Parkville Mega.
My first mega that I had attended and I had a really enjoyable time.
Some of the log books were signed with my name others were signed with just a G part of the group name, a combination of KBJGD.
We were happily joined by KB who was a machine finding a lot of the caches.
Thanks to the CO for all the placement of caches, the earyh caches answers will be sent in the coming days also.
We were very successful in finding majority of caches but some we DNF.

Time for another adventure to attend the MEGA in Parkville VIC. Plans were made with Rapidlywild to work on all the puzzles around the area before the trip and head down to this event together. Lots of fun was had collecting all types of caches over the long weekend/week which included puzzles, multi's, earth caches, labs, trads and even a couple of virtuals for good measure, (think we may have to invest in an e-bike).

[FurfacesLL](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=FurfacesLL) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7G05W/33243 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.

TFT challenge cache sharkiefan and thanks Rapidlywild for the giggles and another great adventure.

Day 2 of the 3 day whirlwind "Bromance" Parkville Mega FIFO trip. Our plan today is to collect an eclectic mix of rarer caches around inner Melbourne before attending the Mega later in the afternoon. The target caches for the day were virtuals, old caches to fill jasmer holes, unloved caches, rarer DT types to help with our next DT loops, challenge caches and the necessary qualiting caches for them.

Having finally logged in at the Mega late on Saturday afternoon, we then checked in at our mediocre 2 1/2 star (but cheap) accomodation to the north of Melbourne and headed back out for a night of caching, concentrating on Parkville Challenges and Puzzles to the north.

[Crookedpete](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Crookedpete) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7G05W/33243 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if he qualified for this challenge and he did.

Prefer a cache that takes a day or even two to get to. Never the less, have found 2190 caches of type "Takes less than 1 hour". Thanks for the cache, sharkiefan .

Out geocaching with friends from Qld/NSW today and doing our best finding the caches related to these Parkville Challenges. So far so good. Thanks sharkiefan for all the work you've done in setting up this series. It's been fun to do.
We checked with Project GC and it confirmed we qualify as a find on this geocache:

#8772 - 14:20; In Melbourne for the weekend with Sol de lune for the Parkville 2018 Mega and after a morning spent at the event venue getting registered, collecting pathtags etc, it was time for caching. After a morning collecting the lab caches around the Mega site, we hit the streets of Melbourne to collect as many challenge caches as we could.

Day 3 of the Bromance (from Brisbane, Queensland) trip to the Parkville Mega. We found a less salubrious nights accomodation in a seedy motel. We marvelld at how old it was, and had a breakfast service winsow to boor! Ah the memories.
Our targets today are virtuals, interesting D/T's, letterboxes, puzzles, earthcaches, wherigos, and challenge caches.
In most cases logs were signed as the "Bromance" that represents Swellerfungus, CrookedPete and seffnjarah to save space in the logsheets.
Thanks to all the CO's who placed and maintain these caches.

What a great, no in fact a MEGA weekend!

Myself and gooseandegg had booked our accommodation and flights from Hobart many many moons ago and we both have spend late nights solving puzzles in readiness for the trip, a couple of days before we fly we still had no real plan other than having fun and catching up with cachers, but we got our stuff together and were as ready as we would ever be.

Leaving work early on the Thursday to get our flight we landed in time to grab a few caches before heading to the hotel to check in.

We were pleased it wasn't too hot on the Friday since we had a big bike ride planned thanks to Toolman we had bikes and a second car so we could leave one at each end of our planned route but this locked us into a ride from Paso Vale to Avondale Heights, with side trips to grab extra caches we signed most of the logs as "Team GTS' of "GTS" and must have covered 25Kms? By the end it was showing so we missed the last few so we could get to the bowls event as we were all starving hungry .... well this was where our plans went down the tube, all the ideas of having a nice sit down meal with fellow caches were off and it was only a chance meeting with some cachers we know that made us all fill a car and head off to a place we had passed on Racecourse Road while on our bike ride.
But as it turned out it was a great evening with 5 of us Tasmanian cachers on one table (unbeknownst to us some other cachers we know were in a another room) a great feed of streaks all round.

After a few caches on the way to the hotel it was sleep then up in the morning to head over to Parkville for a main event, we spent a far bit of time doing the labs and some local caches and the 2020 event before heading out to find a few more puzzles and challengers, this was cut short when the TOOLMAN got a call that one of his lab caches had been damaged so we rushed back via Bunnings so we could help fix it up.
The evening was spent grabbing a few more caches with us getting to sleep after 1am due to solving a couple of puzzles.
Sunday we spent a bit of time at the main site catching up with fellow caches before we were joined by 999Hunter and we set off to grab a few caches we missed on Friday, it turned out Hunter had the same unfound caches as us three so it worked out very well, we got back to the Mega site just in time for the closing event and then the loooong wait for a pork sandwich, every Mega I have been to it's been the same, next Mega I'm taking a cut lunch.
After a bit of a relax and more catching up we ended up doing a local tree climb on the spur of the moment since someone had a ladder to get us started after that we said our goodbyes and headed to the airport, we got home not long before midnight.
Thanks for a great Mega.

Day 2 of our visit to Melbourne for the Parkville Mega Event and out and about with geo friends to try and find as many challenge caches as we can. Had no trouble with the hides and most were quick finds for our big group today.
