Today I need a size small, or so says my calendar. So scouting the map I picked a cache near here (not this one). I should be able to get there and back before the next cloudburst. Enjoyed the cycle out so much that I continued on to this cache instead. Slight trouble finding the cache in the dark - heck, even finding the hint object was a bit of a problem!
Even nicer trip back. No head wind! Also stopped at that cache I cycled past to do a pre-find.
Stopped to get some photos of the river. Im[pressive! (attached)
Another small cache found, just 6 more to go...

Found with Satan's Spawn awesome hide took a wee bit to find TFTC Stiil a bit of room left on the log
The geo trail got me to this cache with more success than relying purely upon the GPSr. TFTC
I found myself in Upper Hutt this afternoon with a little free time, so thought I would enjoy a casual stroll through a couple of areas I had never visited before to lap up the glorious sunshine on offer and hopefully snag a few caches along the way.
I was lucky that there were only a few muggles around, so had no issues getting to GZ following the slight geotrail and then making an immediate find. Absolutely no issues to report with this cache, and after signing the log everything was placed back exactly as discovered.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Took longer than expected due to a few dead trees but there it was in its camo glory. Tftc!
Whilst doing another multi cache we rode past here with Ezratar. Thanks for the cache. Was looking in completely the wrong spot until the hint made sense. T4TC

Out for a ride on the push bike, completed a river loop, nice day for it. Cheers
Looked too hard for this one and at first gave it away but revisited on the way back to the car park. Mrs Gely57 thankfully grabbed this one. Thanks CO for the cache.
Nice quick find under cover from other walkers. Had finished my planned caches for the day but felt like finding some more so I carried on the walkway a little longer to grab this one. Thanks for the cache
My last cache of the day, the last of a rather wet walk, but at least it was an easier and quicker find for me than Stroll n GLAD #17 had been a few minutes earlier. I pretty much headed straight to this cache and there it was before my eyes. Yay! Nice and dry inside, thanks to the double container. Log signed, cache replaced, back to the car, which was parked in the car park just ahead.
Thanks GLAD-NZ for the many caches you've placed and are maintaining along the Hutt River Trail.

#6624. I have been up in Hamilton for the previous weekend and got a fair few caches done. So busy catching up with logs. However I needed a few caches for this calendar date so dropped my daughter off at the gym and raced over to the Hutt Valley. Only had 45 mins to fit in some caches so needed to be park and grabs. Short wander to this one. Should have been obvious but my caching ability seems to be waning or else I was knackered after a long day in the office as it took a while to spot what in the end was an obvious hide. Signed the cache and replaced where found. Grabbed some yummy blackberries from a nearby bush on the way back to the car. Thanks GLAD-NZ for the cache. This series has been a very valuable addition to the local caching scene.
lost my glasses and pen on the way to this one, found the glasses but not the pen, if anyone finds it, use it for the right purpose, signing log sheets, tftc
For a long time we have wanted to get some smiley faces along this bike trail and these few days off in the camper were the very excuse we needed to do them. The ride was very enjoyable and very easy with just a little breeze. It was great to see such an array of different hides and to see some of the country side from a different angle. All hides appeared to be in good condition and the co ords were usually spot on
Many thanks for bringing us to this area

TFTC - quiet morning here so no problems with muggles. I have enjoyed this series, thanks very much!
Well the weekend was nearing by and I was wondering what I could get up to then a fellow geocacher contacted me asking if I wanted to go biking this weekend and with the family away why not I thought so Friday came around got sorted for the Saturday adventure then set off early Saturday morning reaching The Upper Hutt area around 9am we had a cuppa or two or three hen though we better stop chatting and get a move on, we set off to do a trail but while doing that make sure we also get the odd ones in between and a bit out and about as we go, as ya know when caching time ticks away rather fast so we needed to keep an eye on the time as I still had to return home sometime today., lucky for daylight savings and great weather on our side today. What a lovely area to cache in we last came here with the Mega on, so only 3 months ago but never got too much time for biking trails, the weekend went so fast but most enjoyable. It wasn't long before we had our first cache in hand then second third and so on, we signed the logs and placed the caches back exactly where we found them, a few muggles today but no one seemed to be worried about what we were up, was caching with 2 Bulbars today. caches were good no DNFs so far it was a nice quick find. better get on our way to the next cache then get a bit cleaned up have a drink and a bite to eat then start to get ready to head for home all in all a great day great company. Thank you so much for taking the time to place a cache here and give us yet another adventurous day out. Dropped nothing signed log, took nothing
Sorry about the copy and paste I usually try and do individual write ups. TFTC

Out this way entertaining DangerSAM with the family on a sunny day in the valley. Great day to get DangerSAM outside on his balance bike. Been great to get out several days in a row here. Great also that there are some caches to do in this area that we have not had the chance to get yet. In the end it was a quick grab for Gr33nslime while DangerSAM and I took refuge in a spot of shade under this stand of bush. Thanks for placing a chance here and giving us a chance to get out of the sun.
# 1237 Out with the boy and the family today for a quick walk along here just to get some vitamin d. The boy is getting really good on the balance bike so we did a few laps up and down this stretch. And of course, we couldnt really go past this spot without picking up this cache. Glad that i had jandles on (not) as there was a fierce blackberry cane guarding the entrance. From there it was a small adventure into the grotto where i faced a further nemesis - wandering jew (tradescantia) oh how i have battled this beast for months and probably years to come on my property. There was a lovely geotrail through this to the cache location. All good inside here. Thanks Glad NZ for another of your easy to find caches to fill a void!
Find #2909. A 44km round trip from Silverstream bridge to Birchville, on the bike, collecting random caches as they appeared on the gps.
Nice in this grove under the shade of the beech tree. Just watch out for the encroaching blackberry over the geo-trail.
Another well-executed cache. SL TFTC

Thanks for the cache nice find on a stroll with dad and our baby to get him to sleep!
The last time I had a decent full day’s caching run it was way back on Anzac Day, so it is pretty fitting that’s next is on Armistice Day. I decided to head back to Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt region as even though I attended the recent mega and enjoyed it, I didn’t really enjoy the actual caching as it was more like queuing and waiting your turn for the log book and in some cases not even seeing the container and that isn’t my type of caching.
An early morning start to make the most of what promises to be a great sunny day. Walked down to the GZ, were the serious geo trail was still evident from the mega, so I followed it and the cache was quickly in hand. TFTC

Nice walk from the car park to this cache. Found with rebel98 on our way past. TFTC
We had been looking forward to this weekend for the past year, we first heard about it at the Geofest in Oamaru. We registered our will attend as soon as we could and then watched and watched as the numbers grew until it was at Mega status.
This morning we had already attended an event and found the oldest cache in New Zealand which was very awesome. We found a few other traditional caches around the area but we could not find too many as I had to get myself up a hill to get to another nearby event.
Once we had attended the event and found and signed the 1000 day challenge cache we headed back down the hill.
We then started driving around looking for a few caches to find as we filled the day in while we waited to go to the next event.
We noticed these few caches along this track so we decided to have a look for them.
They were all nice easy finds, that we were able to find in between the muggle bikers and dog walkers.
Thank you for placing this cache and of course thank you for the smilie
Missed my turn, continued up the road, found a wide space to turn around, and there was RosMar. So they announced “there is a cache,” and so there was.
Thank you. I like this design. It wethers well. Took a photo.

Up for the Mega for the week, had a great day in the Upper Hunt area and a quick trip over the hill,. many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
Easy find following the geotrails, TFTC again GLADNZ.
Mega Saturday, and Capperz and I have a few goals for the day. All lab caches to solve, plenty of events targeted to get to, and the most different types in a day for me. Add in that a bit of pathtag swapping (finally!), and it was pretty successful.
First mega for me, and loved the experience. Kept bumping into a few familiar faces on our travels and met a few new ones as well. We also didn’t embarrass ourselves at the quiz later on in the evening. Thanks to all COs, especially those keeping maintenance up on their caches especially for the event.

#16208. We'd finally made it to Upper Hutt city en route to the mega at the Cossie Club. Time for a quick stop to add a trad to our type collection. TFTC.
Our turn-around point before heading back down the other side of the river.
Back on the bike trail again now and same as earlier we got into a good successful routine;
Pedal - Stop - Find- Sign - Replace - Repeat.
Day 1 of the actual MEGA. It's the Saturday and both ricardinho.nz and I were awake early in our respective accommodations and keen as can be to getcon the trail nice and early. We were in the car before 0700 and breakfast at Maccas got us underway prior to a real busy day. We had a River Hutt-side cycle, the events and registration at Cossie Club earlyish before racing off to get all the details required for the Lab caches, attend a few associated events, another bike-ride along the nice and flat Hutt river-side. Finally there was a Flashmob before a 'few more' then the Geo-quiz where the upper South did nicely in a podium position - PHEW! What a day!!
The big day(s) has/have arrived. It's MEGA weekend in Wellington region and the culmination of lots of hard work by the organising committee. Also, not to be forgotten, are the caches of the local, and not so local COs, which help the game to continue and enable the enjoyment of others.
The trip has been planned for a while now and the Blenheim contingent of Ricardinho.nz and myself are coming over early on Friday morning on the Bluebridge ferry (after an early morning (non-) 'event') before returning on same mode of transport on Monday lunchtime.
We didn't manage much caching on the Friday but made up for that with 3 good days after and over 100 finds for the weekend to boost my Wellington region finds past my Nelson region ones and even giving my previously prolific Auckland numbers a 'nudge'.
Over the weekend there was plenty of socialising, sharing of ideas, opinions and interesting conversations and a podium spot for the Geosaders quiz team. Allied up with some new caching friends and remet several other rarely seen friends from other areas of the country. A good weekend all around and even the weather played nicely with a sunny outlook each of the days, without it being too warm and uncomfortable. Plenty of events attended, pleasant walks experienced, a couple of bike rides along the Hutt River as well as a smattering of GROET caches for which we were GLAD.
Thanks to all of the cache owners for their hides and listings and looking forward to the next time I visit the area to continue the enjoyment.

nice one here worth a fav
What an elongated weekend with firstly an over night at waikanae and gatherin g in a few caches around there, and then onto the Hutt valley, travelling through to the Wellington Airport to pick up geo son and head to Karori where we stayed for the weekend and I stayed on for a further day or two before heading back up north again. At least the SH 1 was open going home and I I didn’t have to travel over Paekakariki hill which I did on Friday.
I managed several caches around Hayward/ manor park area, Avalon, Lower hutt and then around the coast to Breakers bay etc etc before going to rongotai and then south to Moa point etc. before heading to the Airport.
Saturday we picked up a couple of challenge caches and others on the way up to the Event, getting there in time to register and head to the CITO event. Then a few more challenge caches and trads before heading to the Flash mob. Back to the venue where we had tea and got ready for the quiz night. Which unfortunately went on a little long.
Sun day saw us pick up a long over due mystery cache on tinakori road before heading to Petone and then up to Upper Hutt where we completed the Lab caches some puzzle caches and thee wherigo before heading back yo Karori to have tea with grand chn and family etc.
Monday we went to Zealandia where we completed two more caches before taking geo son back to the airport. I then drove home the next day after the bulk of the traffic had gone.
It was a great weekend and a great Mega event . thanks to the organisers and ALSO thanks to the REVIEWER who alerted CO about the status of the their caches etc so most caches were actually there and not missing. This was a truly amazing effort on the REVIEWERs part. Thank you.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ and Apty on our quest to find 11 cache types in one day.
Cache type #6 Traditional.
Spoiled for choice with traditionals, but as this was a drive by as we headed to Upper Hutt and the Mega event, and with good parking, we stopped to look for this one. An easy find as all we needed to do was follow the geo-trail . TFTC.

The geotrail was one of the most well defined I have seen.
I was lucky enough to tag along with Troodles and StreetwalkerNZ in a quest to find 11 different cache types in a day on the occasion of the Wellington Mega. This was the sixth find.
Thanks so much for the effort putting out the GLAD series.

We were on our way to the first of many events over the long weekend for the MEGA and picking up some caches as we went.
Plenty of parking here and most of the muggles seemed to be further down so making the find was pretty straight forward.
Thanks for putting this here GLAD-NZ

Day two. Part one. I decided to take two extra days off work for WENZ weekend. Bbear arrived last night and we are staying in Upper Hutt. Today's plan is to stay in the Hutt and Petone area most of the day until after the fish n chip event. Thanks for hiding and maintaining your geocache.
Enjoying the stroll.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

There is a clear geopath to the gz that could only have been created by geocachers! TFTC.
I followed the geotrail through then turned around to find the cache staring at me in the face. Can't get better than that. TFTC # 12,944
Was in the area so stopped and made some quick grabs. Walked right past it initially. Thanks for the cache.
Quick find using the hint - bit chilly this morning but looking like it’s going to be a nice day
Out for a bike (electric) ride for geocaching and fresh air on a sunny winter's Tuesday afternoon.

Found! Looks like we're going backwards in this series. Had to donate some of my own paper as condensation had collected inside the container and the paper was wet. Gave the inside of the container a wipe with a tissue before returning the paper.
As noted by the needs maintenance note the logbook is very wet and needs a replacement. Perhaps also some consideration as to why it got so wet? given the set up I am surprised it has become so wet. I did manage to sign the logbook but I expect it may wash off
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
A quick find while out tonight. Log is saturated and barely able to be written on. TFTC
Arrived at the given cords and spotted a well used geo trail that lead straight to the cache. All in good order so left as found.
