I came up to Ballarat for the long weekend to make a start on a few of the Ad Labs that are around here, catch up with my caching buddie GemmaSistema for a fun day out and to also attend a couple of the New Year events. After spending yesterday around Ballarat and Creswick I caught up with Gemma in Beaufort today for a day of caching and laughs and we headed to Ararat to see what could find in the back blocks around here.Driving along and I get the turn here directive as there was another cache that was on the map that we both have not found.More tracks and more laughs. Some other drivers dont really know how to drive these tracks as they are narrow and dont think about oncoming traffic.Soon found the herd and on to the next one. Thanks jitsv318 TFTC.
Found on a caching run with Posums. A lovely little track through here. Cheers.
Drove a little further from the first run of caches and soon found my way to this one. Cache was another quick find and once the log was signed, I was on my way again.
Thanks for this one jits318...

This series provided some entertainment while waiting for prep of a purchase in Ararat to be made ready for pick up.
Dropped a TB since it was the second biggest micro I've found.
Thanks jits318
Find recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK

Weve been enjoying our trip out in the bush even if we haven't found all of the caches
TFTC. We had previously failed at this one as it had gone walkabout. We are back in the area for the Long Weekend so made a plane to rectify some of the DNFs we have in the area. Bigger than a micro but it was pleasing to be able to get rid of the third of 3 blue faces along this track.
Stopped to get a cache or five in a new LGA. quick find.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Out on a Christmas break with sir_spectre, exploring southern Victoria grabbing lots of smilies, finding caches in LGA's and of course signing a few more challenges.

Day 3 of our long weekend is in Ararat and surrounds.
Gotta say, SueHut really really loves these extra-large micros.

Found it. After a previous DNF due to fire's. We finally managed to come back after this one was replaced. A quick find. Room for swaps
A find to GeoM this time.
Road to destination very suitable, although twisting.
Easily suitable for non 4wd vehicle.
Usual hiding place. Thx JJHHXX. Find 35

Spent the afternoon in the Ararat Regional Park attempting this series of caches. Was good to finally visit this area as i had been wanting to try my luck here for some time. I found all the coords to be excellent and the caches were all in good condition. Still not sure about my 3 DNFs attain this area at caches that were found previously today. Not sure if there was some shenanigans going on or just my cache blindness. Thx jts318 for the fun and the walks here this afternoon.

Have searched everywhere. Fires have been through, trees down. Owner should check
The first of our 2 DNFs for the4 day.Searched and widened the radius. Still could not locate. There are signs of recent tree cutting so not sure whether we are blind or the cache was a victim of the cutting down of trees
Out and about grabbing a couple in the sunshine before the next snap lockdown hits. Nice drive through here. SL TFTC jits318!
Well this was a very large micro but I was glad of that as it took me a few minutes to locate. All good hete.
Thanks jits318

Took a decent search before I located this one.
Thanks for the placement, enjoyed the quiet of the bush today.

Ah to be able to enjoy some fresh air and different environs again. Really enjoyed the wildflowers and orchids on display at the moment through here, areal thrill. Many thanks for adding to this great afternoon in the big wide world.
Re-enabling due to easing of restrictions. Cache Responsibly- Socially distance, wash your hands, enjoy the fresh air!
Due to Covid 19 pandemic we are disabling ALL our caches until the health risk is over. The advice is clear.. STAY HOME.. we do not want our caches to be a reason people are out ignoring official advice.
It has been a while since we have cached in this area and we enjoyed returning today as we headed east. It took a few minutes to locate the cache, eventually finding it about 10m from the published coordinates. The cache and contents weer in good condition. Thanks jits318 for the cache
A detour out along Dutton's Track,
and I soon had the herd rounded up

Took a while to find as I was looking for a micro and expecting something tiny. I walked past this a couple of times and can’t believe I missed it.
Ran into this little series on my way to Fr. Leyden's Lot.... bonus!
A nice little run around in a park.
All found relatively easily.

Find No. 2652. Found with FUF009 at 2.07pm
A days trip caching in the car, over to Ararat with Geodog Penny on board and FUF009 came as well.
After doing the caches in Ararat we had on our list to do we headed out the road the get the four that were in this area. This was our second one.
Don't think the GPS liked this area today as they were both playing up. Not giving up we just kept on a looking and it was FUF009 who found the hide. We all signed the log and off we went to the next one.

Find # 8054
Found while out on a geocaching day trip with Tyred n Cranky and Geodog Penny.
Think the tree cover was playing up with out devices today.
we searched around where the GPSr was pointing to, but after reading previous logs we spread out our search area and made a relative quick find (3 sets of eyes always helps)

Day 30
Heading over to the Mega in Melbourne and spent the afternoon caching around Ararat TFTC
Found the coords to be a bit off with this one but after widening our search it was found at 12:10pm. As noted in a previous log there was no log book in the cache, so we left a couple of pages from my notebook, which will keep it going for a while.

A bit of off-road for the mini version of a car, Yaris.
We parked 25m from gz but couldn't find it. So I spread out and spotted the cache. But why micro? The container is definitely a small size.

We thought we were looking for a micro in total size. Was going to take the other micro contained on cache but wasnt sure if that was its intent. Cool cache container Kids loved it. Searching with the geokids. TFTC
Headed out of town to the Regional Park with intention to find the Main Divide series. This turned out to be successful day as I found them all. A great series With the Main Divide series completes, this green box also needed to be found. I would like to know why it’s called Duttons Herd as it gets no mention in the description. This cache earns a favourite point TFTC jts318

Final leg of an amazing trip to S.A.'s iconic Yorke Peninsula. We allowed time around Ararat, to seek out the caches, left untouched last time we were in the area.
Satellites today had our GZ 7 metres NW of where we found the cache.
Thanks to 'jits318' for the hunt and cache placement
