After a hello from the locals and their doggo, I was able to grab the answers and take a photo with my fav feathered friend! Greencordial asked BenM70 to do up a caching found template while she is doing the driving and Im doing duck all. Im actually just pressing the screen randomly like Im actually enthused to be doing this. Anyways, we are visiting the national capital to attend Grrencordial2nd mega as I got scared by Covid for Dayboro and didnt take the punt that Townsvilles coolest cachers BenM70 and burgo78 did. Thank you GLISS! for placing this cache for me to enjoy!

01-Apr-24
Well, for someone that has not bothered to do anything geocaching related for a while I seem to be going out of the way to do Mega events. This particular caching trip was the brainchild of the other participant in this little excursion, that being greencordial. I flew into Toowoomba so we could drive down and pick up plenty of LGAs along the way. We got into Canberra late on Day 2 after picking up some challenges at Yass Day 3 and we chased many virtuals and caches in the city centre Day 4 saw a continuation of the UGC challenges, multis, virtuals and the odd tree fish as well as a wedding, a lackey and volunteer event were undertaken. Day 5 sees us start at parliament house, two lookouts, multies, virtuals, an epic night cache and a Pirate celebration. Day 6 saw the April Fools come out and a visit to Canberras oldest existing cache. Now for some more Yass challenges on the way home. A quick stop in Quickwood to pick up a virtual. Please see photo and my answer has been sent. Thanks GLISS! for placing this Virtual for me to convert into a smilie

Answers sent to cache owner and approved. Interesting artwork

We headed into the flooded eastern states for a week of geocaching fun. The mission was Frying Pan. The only December 2000 placed cache remaining in Australia. All other choices for this month are international. Traveling in style and comfort we selected the next cache on merit and forward movement. Some back tracking was required in the wettest areas. Wildlife seen included a lyre bird, king parrot and a single leech. Mozzies were a pest. Caches were found and signed. Wet logs were wet. Water does that. Numerous TOTTs were employed.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

30-Nov-22
I visited this Virtual cache on a trip from Adelaide to NSW and back with Freddo.

Our main target was ‘Frying Pan’ in the Chichester State Forest, near Barrington Tops north of Newcastle.

We allowed ourselves a week to travel there and back, taking a circuitous route through Victoria and NSW, camping each night and finding a range of caches of interest along the way.

Rains over the past few months meant a few detours along the way and plenty of water about, restricting access to some caches and camping areas. Many of the roads were quite chopped up with potholes and the mosquitoes were plentiful! But we had a good run with the weather, with just the odd shower, but mostly fine, warm and overcast.

Thanks GLISS! for the cache.

#1250 Finally catching up on some much needed logging. This is one of the last few I needed to tick off for the month of October ??. I’ve been sitting on this own for so long that I do believe I mentioned the answer to the question to the CO months ago and have since talked to the CO again forgetting I had already got the approval.

Oh well, how’s as good a time as any to get it sorted. I chose to take a photo with these two lovely birds. I’ve always loved Rosellas, eastern or crimson and magpies are always lovely if you make a friend of them. I haven’t seen as many rosellas lately, but they’ve started popping up a bit more again lately, which is always good to see.

Thanks GLISS! For placing your virtual here, always nice to do one not so close to home!

A beautiful virtual.
It’s lovely to see virtuals being placed in quirky and smaller locations to highlight something of the local area.

We are definitely keen to look into some warm Crookwell socks. As for spuds, yep, we’ll take them too!

We have sent our answers to the CO, and add a FP here for highlighting this lovely Aussie town.
Thank you GLISS!

JohnoMawbs’s 30/10/22 Day Trip
I heard there were four events on today and better yet, I was even asked to attend them. So, this meant I couldn’t miss them. I left home at 6am and headed for Yass for B’fast. After B’fast, I did some caching before the first event. A nice event at Gunning and then it was time for more caching on the way to Crookwell. Then it was time for the Crookwell CCE which was another fun event. A forty minute wait for lunch but I had plenty of conversations about all things Geo with the other attendees. Once again, it was time to do some more caching which included cleaning up as many caches as possible. This included caches in Crookwell, along the way to Goulburn and in Goulburn. Now time for the combo event which was made up of both Geocaching and Munzee. A different but certainly still a fun event to attend. Then came some more caching before the final event. The last event was a CITO which was also great fun. Then it was time to head home but not without two more finds, one of which was a FTF. Big Grin I arrived home about 7:30pm after my great day out. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and events I attended for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. Big Grin TFTC’s and TFTE’s. Big Grin
Today’s Highlights:

My second cache in Crookwell today. Once at GZ and after a short, I discovered the information required. Soon after, I headed off to the second event of the day and met up with the CO, who gave me permission to log as found. A great spot to bring Geocachers and once again thanks. FP Given. Big Grin

Love a virtual! Out with GreyHams on a mostly nice sunny day. With the recent rain there was plenty of water lying about, the little car got, well... just a 'little' muddy! Thankfully though we stayed dry and clean enough! Wow, it was a long day that saw us cover a lot of distance, climb a few hills, and collect a lot of good quality caches along the way. Generally, most caches were found in good condition, all at the coordinates and dry although a few have not held up to the rain and were in poor or very wet condition.

Thanks for your cache that led to a good day out!

We loved all the caches around Crookwell
Love a virtual, especially one in such a cool rural location

Found Smile -- Thanks for bringing us to this location and Thanks for the virtual *Gliss!*.

**The Cache**
Found 2:40pm. Photo of answer sent to CO. Pity there is nothing historical to see here, but still, the view is lovely.

**The Day**
I am surprised, I have not done and solid caching for over a year. It is so nice to be out and enjoying nature again.
OCW *Mr TOC*, *Little Panther* and *DustyJapserJet* on a much welcome and impromptu overnight run to somewhere unknown, well... ... I did consider a night in Grenfell if we could get a bed there. With nothing booked we threw some clothes in a bag, grabbed some trackables for distribution and were out the door quicker than a scared jack rabbit. Element of surprise Mr TOC, element of surprise. I'm sure he was surprised I moved so quick and left him spinning [:-D].
We found a room at the local motel, definitely a *Pokemon* players delight with something like four poke stops and two gyms that can be played all night long from the comfort of your bed. With a few extra steps to the fence-line there are about three more that can be played.
We went to see the Grenfell Silo Art which was stunning, and wanted to go to Harden to see their but didn't have time. Caches to maintain, find and the need to get home for work tonight. Had the most brilliant time away - happy wifey.

Nice little visit to the town today. We had a hearty lunch in the old theatre and a little look at the shops and railway station.
Pleasant little park that would be lovely for a visit on a sunny day. Thanks for the fun. Btw. Creek was full of water. See photo

15-May-22
Day 3 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane and so far the trip has been a nightmare. On the first day we had to find a route around flood waters which meant a long detour via the coast roads before making it to Coonabarabran for our first night. The second day quickly descended into disaster as I managed to bog my vehicle hunting only our second cache of the trip, and could not be extracted until 7pm that night, This meant an unscheduled stop over in Dubbo last night and after some work this morning cleaning the car up from its muddy encounter, we were underway again, heading for Goulburn.

Although I had to cut a number of caches on my itinerary due to the delays, this was one of my main targets of the day so I made sure we were here in plenty of time. No problem locating the required information here. It was a bit too chilly here for us this afternoon for us Queenslanders so we didn't linger and jumped straight back in the car. TFTC

With the forecast of a sunny day in Crookwell, we set out to find some caches and look for the puzzles we have solved. We enjoyed the variety of caches and had a fun day. We had lunch in the park here and then a nice stroll along the river. A lovely spot.

15-Apr-22
We have been trying to get a fine day in Crookwell when we are free to travel and the holiday seemed an ideal opportunity to find some caches. We have found caches by Gliss! in Golspie and Bigga and were looking forward to more in Crookwell. We were not disappointed. This is a favourite lunch spot of ours so we enjoyed another visit and a stroll along the river.

13-Apr-22
Travelling from goulburn to yass and made a detour to Crookwell to see some of the town, as my grandparents met here with my grandfather boarding at my grandmother's house a long time ago. This virtual looked interesting and was nearby where I first stopped for a rest break. Had a quick walk with my patents to stretch our legs and found on the way. Was interesting to learn this about the town. FP from me for area and info. Wood sculptures are unique and would have loved to play table tennis in the park if I had a bat and ball on me.

11-Mar-22
Found on my way back from a day trip from Canberra to Bathurst to pick up some pressed metal sheets. A quick stop at this lovely park and was welcomed by several super friendly ducks who waddled up and were most disappointed that I didn’t have food for them. Then on to GZ for the required answers and a couple of pics of the mural. A nice leg stretch before driving home. Nice spot here, TFTC

On my way out to Orange today and stopped at Crookwell for morning tea and 50 meters away was this cache, so why not. This is a great little park badly in need of some TLC which is unusual for Crookwell because all the amenities we have seen here are clean and well kept.

Day 4 of a 4 day geocaching bender for Team Doodads (Garbageman and 2 geokids). Today we started in Goulburn, pulled a loop through Crookwell, and headed home to Newcastle via the Southern Highlands. A 70 cache day, which was a fair effort for two quite tired kids.

Who doesn’t love a virtual?

I just wish I hadn’t stepped in a rabbit hole, sprained my knee, corrected myself, stepped in a second rabbit hole with the same leg on the next step (@#$&*), and swallowed a bunch of swear words to save the nearby muggle kids an educational experience. Use the ramp people. The grass is a death trap. Ha ha

First of four days of caching around Goulburn, Yass valley and ACT. Weather still good, but a terrible forecast. Making good progress around Goulburn/Crookwell today. Been a while since I did a virtual!

Finalf29 and I had decided to attend the CITO and Mid Winter dinner but then I saw AngelG27 was going to attend... hmmm maybe I could get enough caches to make my 3000th the event and celebrate with AngelG27, who originally got me into this fun and wacky game. We left home about 10am and cached around Goulburn and Crookwell to make the numbers. Thanks to all the COs that made this possible and thanks Angle... opps AngelG27 Wink

OK that whole experience was surreal. When we pulled up there was no one. Finalf29 sat in the car. As I got out of the car muggles came out from everywhere. A lady sat near the mural, a dog walker stopped on the ramp and people amassed down further. The dog walker started talking to me and the other lady lit up a cigarette. Finally I found the information and took a quick selfie. This was all happening to the sound of someone practising their bagpipes!... I love bagpipes and they were very good. Thanks for the history and a unique experience

During our recent tour of south-east New South Wales, we called into Crookwell and viewed this very colourful mural. We collected the required information and have forwarded it to the CO.

#11385 - 2:34:00 PM; Set out on a cold but sunny morning with Sol de lune and Smittengranny on a caching mission north to Taralga then west to Laggan and Crookwell. Seventy three caches found and three DNFs for the day. Logs signed LL, Sdl and SG or similar. Most caches were found without incident and apart from a few soggy logs, were in good condition. A chilly wind came up just before noon, but didn't detract from an excellent day's caching. After lunch at a very busy cafe in town, this was our first stop after lunch. Headed to the wrong spot to start with, but a check of the GPSr soon had us back on track and the required information in hand. TFTC GLISS! Smile

16-May-21
A day out caching with Smittengranny and LuckyL10n up to Taralga, Crookwell and Gunning before heading home to Canberra...

After a neat lunch at the busy cafe in town, we headed around town for a few caches, including this one. We actually went to wrong spot first (note to self...read the listing !!) but soon worked out the error of our ways and eventually made it to the right spot. Grabbed the required info, which has been sent off to the CO, and then headed back to the car and to next one.

Enjoyed our visit to Crookwell...been a while since I was here.

Thanks for the tour and the virtual GLISS!!....

During our forced Covid -19 lockdown "6" we were going through our note for our trip to QLD Mega and noticed we had missed logging a whole day of caches. Now catching up with those logs. We visited back on 22/4/21 and have no idea how we missed logging this day,

We are on the last leg of our extended journey on the way back from the Daybro mega and with lots of muggles still around enjoying the autumn warmth we decided to concentrate mainly on labs and anything else that popped up on the screen.

We knew Crookwell was known for spuds but had no idea that it was also known for socks which we found quite interesting, we will keep our eyes out in future. We visited the mural, collected the information required which has been sent off to the CO

Many thanks GLISS! for bringing us here and for the history of Crookwell.

My mother suggested we visit Crookwell. "Do they have caches there?" (To get my interest in the trip. Not that I didn't want to go.) "Yes, they do," I answered. So today it was finding caches in Crookwell and a few on the way. This virtual cache was my first stop in Crookwell. The answer has been messaged.
I have visited this park before and on a previous visit, I left a Bookcrossing book on a carved bird sculpture. I include that picture here. It was sunny that day; unlike today.

Driving the back-roads to Canberra today, we managed a mixed bag of 46, including 15 labs and 8 GA goodies. Great scenery and some historic locations down here, its worth the drive.
This was a nice leg stretch stop, with a hunt needed for the code words I'll say.... Oliver was chastised by some elderly ladies for chasing the ducks! TFTC!
