The situation here isn't changing any time soon. Will consider a new hide once all the renovations are complete.

07-Jul-22
A new and more impenetrable fence was erected today, meaning the hide can't be accessed. Will wait to see if things change soon, until then, this will need to be disabled.

Quick wander for dot day. QEF but then realised we didn’t have a writing stick! Unfortunately the one in the cache wasn’t useable either so a photo of the last log will have to suffice. Didn’t SL! TFTC

Somehow I got lucky and found myself at the hide when it was pretty quiet. Once spotted it was a quick grab, sign and return. Thanks for sharing information about the church and for hiding the cache!

Cool little cache - only found with the hint. Was concerned this feature maybe gone with recent siteworks, still intact as of 10/3/21 - Cheers for the cache

27-Feb-21
all quiet here today, easy find but oops i knocked it as i tried to grab it, that made retrieval a lot harder, short arms and all these bushes but i did get it back, signed and replace where i first found it, tftc

26-Feb-21
As with so many of these, retrieval was fine but replacing it was much harder! Traffic, dog walkers, tradespeople, a busy street today. I sat in the bus stop to sign the log and then had to wait at GZ for a break in traffic to quickly stick the cache back in position and walk away. TFTC!

31-Jan-21
Thanks for the detailed history. Very interesting. Found it no issue.

26-Jan-21

A quick find as we picked up clues for a puzzle cache.

#8902. I was over in Mt Eden today and needed some information for a puzzle series. So stopped here to find this cache. The old church is looking rather sad and abandoned now. Terrible to see a heritage building like this go into wrack and ruin. Its a pity there is not a fund set up to restore iconic buildings like this as we constantly infill houses into suburbia and people make outrageous fortunes from capital gains in the housing market. Anyway it was a fairly easy find here. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks nzseries1 for hiding it here.

12-Dec-20
Found it

22-Nov-20
Such a shame this church is dilapidated too this extent!

The building structure is impressive!

I wish I had the money to buy it and make something cool out of it! (Not a church!)

Thanks for the cache!

15-Nov-20
Out and about exploring Mt Eden, and doing some maintenance on one of my caches nearby Big Grin

What a lovely old building, would love to see inside, especially when it was being used/loved. Sad to see it not getting the love it deserves.

With the good hint, soon had the cache, and was signing the log.

Thanks nzseries1 for the hide and bringing me here

15-Nov-20
Stopped off for a quick find & sign in as we were in the street for an open home. Hopefully someone will restore this once beautiful Church. TFTC

17-May-20
Sorry for late log Matt! It was a very busy day today. I have 4 FTF's under my belt and while in the area of the 4th cache, I decided to head to Mnt Eden to fix up a WP for my virtual. Then it was such a nice day, and it would have been an extreme waste of a warm day if I never got a few more caches on my way home, this was one of them!

So I parked on the yellow line, what is that there for anyway... only a few muggles walking, and they were on the other side of the street. So no probs with the search and the hide. I'm not really into churches myself, but I do love a bit of history! You have provided that. Nice work!

Today we took a walk around the Mt Eden area. It was a bit windy but nice sunshine all day. Small white clouds scattered over the sky.

Found the hiding place easily.

Thanks for the cache!

Greetings from Sweden.

Good find

15-Mar-20
Super quick and easy find. Only one place it could be if you use the hint! Must’ve been an impressive building in its day - shame to see it’s fallen into such disrepair

27-Jan-20
A little while ago a plan was hatched by some of the Team SEAC members to attempt the nearby Werigo, some of the nearby puzzles and some trads as well. So today was the nominated day. After collecting the caches on Mt Eden it was time to head into the streets. A quick easy find at the location. Signed SEAC to save on space. TFTC.

27-Jan-20
In the area today with Team 'SEAC' , South East Auckland cachers.... hunting down some solved puzzles and the Werigo near by.

Where we needed to we signed in individually, but mostly as SEAC.....

We were also not too choosy about the odd traditional cache as well.

TFTC.

27-Jan-20
As we had no time to walk on the Mt Eden we used the time to find a couple of caches. This was one of them.
Thanks for showing this kind of a lost place.
TFTC saying Sverabe and greetings from Germany

27-Jan-20
A plan had been hatched with fellow Team SEAC members to get together and find as many caches around Mt Eden on Auckland Anniversary Smile This was close by so we made our way to GZ and the cache was quickly found. Such a beautiful building... I see that it's for sale... hopefully it will be restored, TFTC!

27-Jan-20
"Is anybody up for a caching mission?" was the cry from one of the members of Team SEAC. This mission contained a Whereigo, and a few puzzles in the Mt. Eden area, oh and we'll through in a few traditionals as well just to beef up the numbers.

One of the traditional caches that we looked at in the shadow of Mt. Eden was this one. We all made our way over, winding through the back streets of Mt. Eden, and ended up at this old church. We all piled out and proceeded to search for the cache. Of course, with lots of eyes looking, it was only a very small matter of time before the cache was retrieved and being signed as SEAC in order to save log space.

13-Jan-20
Had decided to finally get myself together and complete my dot days this year (simply because I remembered before I passed a January date!) so organised some time between work and a hair appointment to grab one or two caches in the vicinity.

Spotted this one on the approach, waited for a clear path and grabbed it.

Thanks for the cache.

07-Jan-20
It's sad to see that people have turned this area into a rubbish dump and a place to dispose of grass clippings. To protect the cache I've moved it upwards. It's still at the same coordinates but please see the updated hint.

04-Jan-20
Needed this cache to assist in solving a nearby puzzle. We also wanted to scope out the near by Mt Eden Wherigo so was a good reason to come out tonight.

There was some fresh grass clippings at GZ which put Mr NZT off the scent meaning that Mrs NZT had to make the find.

The clue was recorded and the log signed. Mr NZT returning the cache to its hiding position.

Found with a nice cat smuggling me. Nice. The church look pretty good after all this time. It’s shame about the hall. TFTC and history.

17-Dec-19
It was after dark and raining by the time one of us headed out to do some Christmas shopping, while the other went out to find a cache or two. Parked around the corner and waited for the rain to ease up a bit before heading to St. James Church. Still managed to get somewhat wet, but luckily the cache was a nice quick find. Thanks.

15-Dec-19
Friendly next door neighbour cat here!

14-Dec-19
A bit of spare of time today before heading to work so parked up nearby to collect another cache and decided there was time to walk and get this one too.Enjoyed learning the history of this building.Shame that nothing is being done with it.We thought it would make a nice bar or restaurant.A quick find here spotted as we made our approach.

08-Dec-19
Yeah a once grand building looking rather sad eh! I rather feel it is beyond repair and Auckland has better use for land than is currently happening here. Don't know, I guess there are arguments both ways.
Cache quickly located and log signed. Thanks Smile.

03-Dec-19
Thanks was great

30-Nov-19
First find. Nice to do but needed the hint!

23-Nov-19
Themexikiwi, evilno9 and I needed a good reason to walk of those beersies from last night and decided to geocache in the Mt Eden area. Easy find at GZ. TFTC

23-Nov-19
Grabbing a couple of caches with alpenmilch80 and themexikiwi and stopped in here for a quick look. No dramas with the cache in a likely spot and we were soon on our way again. TFTC

16-Nov-19
Nice quick find on the drive past. Amazing looking church

16-Nov-19
Been meaning to get this one for a while, as it is close to home... But of course, the closest ones are always left last haha. Nice and easy find due to good hint. A shame about the church though. TFTC

13-Nov-19
First day in New Zealand so we have a jet lag. We can't think of a better way than to cache the jet lag away. Quickly found. TFTC

07-Nov-19
Found with cachers from the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. All the log was signed with our group stamp as NZGA2019 (New Zealand Geocaching Adventure2019). On Friday we embark on our cruise to some other ports in New Zealand and Australia. TFTC

06-Nov-19
I am one of the 30odd cachers, snuggle muggles, and friends traveling to New Zealand and Australia. We signed or stamped the logs as NZGA2019 aka New Zealand Geocaching Adventure 2019. It is a 25 day adventure through 9 different cities between the two countries.

We arrived this morning after a long trip from the US and Nov 5th disappearing from existence during the flight.
