In our googling we have noticed 8 is a very favourite number.
The number 8 is considered the luckiest of numbers in China and they believe the more 8’s the better. The Cantonese word for eight, which is pronounced “ba”, sounds similar to the word which means “prosper” or “wealth”. In regional dialects the words for “eight” and “fortune” are also similar. The word is also phonetically similar to the word for a hundred (pronounced “baak”), which they believe for greater wealth. Note as well, this particular symbol matches the mathematical symbol of infinity. So just how much do the Chinese love the lucky number 8? Well we’ve got some crazy examples:

A Hangzhou man placed his license plate for sale which read A88888. How much did he want for his lucky 8 plate? A cool ¥1.12 million (roughly AU$219,000).
A telephone number with all digits being eights was sold for ¥2.33 million (about AU$450,000) to Sichuan Airlines in Chengdu, China.
The opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Beijing began on 080/8/2008 at 8 seconds and 8 minutes past 8 pm local time (UTC+08).
Also by pure luck, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Singapore use the time zone UTC+08:00.
Singapore Airlines and SriLankan Airlines both reserve flight numbers beginning with the number 8 to routes in China.
Boeing delivered their 8,888th 737 built to Xiamen Airlines. The Next-Generation 737-800, features a special livery commemorating the airplane’s significance.

Thanks MooskaMouse for number 8

Another lovely day in Tailem bend with BettyBoo3747 and the geodoggies.
We drove down to Victor Harbor to do some AdLabs and assorted caches (and ride the tram out to the island). Unfortunately, it was drizzling, cold and generally miserable in Victor Harbor so we changed plans.

We thought we would try a few of these just to see what they were like with the aim of coming back another day. We ended up at #17.
We only stopped then because we were both soaked from the long wet grass.
Good sized containers for this series, but I think the logs could be a bit bigger.
Thanks, Robmc.

#20163. Day 19 of our holiday in SA . Plan A was to drive to Victor Harbor to do some AdLabs and take a trip out to Granite Island. It was a sunny morning when we left Tailem Bend. We did some caching on the way and as we neared VH the wet, cold, drizzly rain moved forward to meet us. Also with the start of the school holidays the place was so, so busy. We cut our losses and turned to Plan B - that was to head back to camp and grab a few more on the return trip if we could without getting too wet. Managed to find 28 caches and do a couple of AdLabs.

Noticed this series on the way to VH so thought we might do just a few if it wasn't too wet on the way home. Well, we did do quite a few and we were utterly soaked through by the time we gave it away and headed back to Tailem Bend.

Thanks Toxicmouse5

I had almost all of March away from caching to concentrate on the Garden. Surprised Time to get back to working towards my goals for the year.Razz Today I just needed a handful of cache finds to fill in my loop calendar. So it was back to this series to get them.[^]

All were quick finds and goal satisfied it was time to leave the rest for another day I need some more. Smile Great to have this little series on hand to do that. Wink

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

This afternoon after work, I headed to Strathalbyn primarily to complete the new *Bletchley* series, but also to visit a few others around the outskirts of Strathalbyn and in the town itself. It was a free evening for me, but one of the worst weather-wise - most of the evening it just drizzled and was damp, and walking through soursops and weeds had my runners drenched by the end of the night.

As mentioned, this series was my objective, and I had probably left these to later than anticipated. It was completely dark by the time I got going at 19:45 hr, and in the end, the whole series took me 1-1/4 hr. Most of the caches were reasonably quick to spot, with a few causing some grief. I also found the caches hidden quite away from the road, and having to walk through weeds and soursops tough to keep motivation, since they were full of water, and drenched my shoes and clothes. For the majority of the series, I didn't see any other cars, so probably not a bad location to have this power trail. I started at #1, and continued in order to #25. I do admit that I tried taking the small loop around the other way, going from #18 to #25, and the track quickly disappeared to a few fields and waist-high weeds, to a fence and bushes. I'm sure glad I stopped to survey my approach, and realised there was a full running creek with steep sides - there was no way that there was an existing track through that way.

For this cache, I pulled over nearby, and after a few minutes, I located the cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks MooskaMouse for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

I saw this series published and thought I would get to it one day and today was it a but earlier than expected. I started in reverse as it was easier doing it solo that way. All the caches were easily found and are in good condition.

Today after attending my early birds event in north Adelaide I Alex see to head east towards Monarto to complete some of the walking trails before heading to strath and back home via the back roads collecting caches. All up 72 finds for the day

Thanks for the cache

Thanks MooskaMouse for this cache, and the series.

I had the most wonderful day caching. I met up with family at the Monarto junction and we headed south. Picked up 3 of 5 in the Monarto woodland, then completed all but 2 in Ferries McDonald. A GC phone app glitch had me without a GPS for all FM, I was disabled and without my usual directional ability. Thankfully my sister had complete control and guided us through the dense woodland to achieve all we set out to.

We headed across to Bletchley and had a wonderful lunch under a tree by a creek, and were joined by two more keen mugglets. With access to a hotspot I was able to reload the app and I was back in the land of GPS. The five of us headed off and collected every one of the Bletchley series, taking turns at finding based on which side of the car the cache was on. Thank you to MooskaMouse, CP Wanderer and Niftybridge for placing and maintaining these caches, it provided us with a stunning day of caching in awesome weather.

I had come for a drive down to Strath today to complete the new Adventure Lab along with the Bletchley caches and a couple of others that have been placed since the last time I was down here. [^] It was a nice day although a bit grey and windy, but I did find all the caches I looked for and when I had finished I revived with a nice mug of coffee and scones with jam and cream. Big Grin

I started the Bletchley caches from #1 and found most of the caches quickly with a couple taking a bit longer as the GPSr settled down. Just as I was getting used to the containers and hides a couple of "others" popped up. Surprised Noted that #19 is disabled so I didn't attempt to go down that track and made my way around to the other end to finish the series. Big Grin

Loved the drive along here with the lovely green and yellow crops and at one of the caches I disturbed a couple of big kangaroos and watched them bound away through the field. Cool Bumped into weredunn4 coming the opposite way and we looked for one of the caches together. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache and series MooskaMouse. Smile

Out and about caching with clare007, Gizmo's Gang and CPwanderer caching on a very cold winters day. Aussie Mary had arrived with an injury so she had to be careful today.
We ended up leaving one not attempted really as it appeared to be on a driveway as opposed to a road. Saw a farmer coming thru the main road end, so Aussie Mary was happy to not be driving thru that 'road'.
We all made several finds today, loved the creek near one of the cache placements and the canola was in flower today.

Today myself, clare007, Gizmos Gang and AussieM&M completed 25 of the 26 caches in this series. ...... see my note on #19. Weather was pretty foul but in the end the heavy rain held off and we remained dry. Absolutely spot on co ordinates for each cache. We were disappointed that the inner container and logsheet were the only thing in the "small" caches as there was certainly room for a few swaps to make the series a bit more kid friendly. All 25 were quickly located . Excellent hints!!! Thanks Mouskamouse for the series!!!
